The purpose of this study was to analyze the satisfaction level on hospital foods in elderly and middle aged patients. The subjects were selected among the patients treated in the Inha University hospital during July of 1999. One hundred thirty five elderly patients aged over sixty(68 men, 67 women) and sixty five patients aged in forties(35 men, 30 women) were surveyed through questionnaires in terms of satisfaction level on hospital foods and the food preferences. Satisfaction on general taste, saltiness, serving temperature, appearance, texture and variety of hospital foods was not significantly different according to age. However, elderly men showed significantly higher satisfaction level than elderly women in terms of general taste of hospital foods(p<0.01). The preferences of cooking method for meat, fish, vegetable and the preferred kinds of kimchi and milk & milk products were not significantly different between the two age groups. However, elderly women significantly preferred sauted meat to broiled meat compared to elderly men(p<0.05).
2차원 평면상에서 원운동하는 음원의 도플러 효과에 관한 이론과 실험 비교 분석

We obtained the general solution for the Doppler effect of a sound source moving in a circle in 2-dimensional space and devised an apparatus and method for measuring the effect. Experimental data were obtained and compared with our theoretical predictions. While demonstrating the Doppler effect of a sound source under uniform linear motion in laboratory is difficult, the Doppler effect of a source moving in a circle is not only easily measurable in a laboratory but also helpful in deepening the geometric understanding of the effect. Especially, we found an error in the solution presented in a previous work by Saba and Rosa [Phys. Teach. 41, 89 (2003)] when the receiver (observer) was located on the circumference of a circle and fixed to it. We extended the previous work to find the general solution for the case when the receiver was located outside the circumference. 본 연구에서는 2차원 평면상에서 등속원운동 하는 음원의 도플러 효과에 대한 일반해를 구하였고, 이 도플러 효과를 측정하는 실험 장치를 제작하여 우리가 구한 일반해와 비교 분석하였다. 1차원 직선상에서의 도플러 효과의 측정은 실험실에서 측정하기 매우 어려운 반면, 원운동하는 음원의 도플러 효과는 실험실에서 측정이 가능할 뿐 아니라 도플러 효과의 기하학적 이해를 높이는데 매우 유익하다. 특히, 우리는 원운동하는 음원과 원궤도상에 놓인 수신기에 도플러 공식에 대한 선행연구 [Phys. Teach. \textbf{41}, 89 (2003)]의 오류를 발견하여 수정하였고 수신기가 원궤도를 벗어난 경우에 대한 도플러 효과의 일반해를 구하였다.

In this study, the migration of MC3T3-E1 osteoblast-like cells was examined on the culture plate coated with ECM, such as type I collagen, laminin or fibronectin. The cells were incubated in a self-made mini-incubator, with the same conditions as commercial CO2 incubator, placed on an inverted microscope and observed as a real time-mode. After 24 hr of incubation, the edge and center of single cell were detected by an automated cell tracking system. From the cell movement path, it was shown that the cells had a tendency to move randomly without any certain direction. Furthermore, it could be found that the cell movement speed was divided into three phases, attachment preparation phase, from 0 to T1 hr, accelerated movement phase, from T1 to T2 hr and speed maintenance phase, till 24 hr. At first phase, a cell moved slightly as like searching a local attachment site. Afterwards, the cell accelerated its speed and reached the maximum speed, Vmax. To estimate the cell migration speed, the migration index was defined as the value of the Vmax divided by T2-T1. The migration index of the MC3T3-E1 cells on fibronectin was 8.9, while those indexes on the type I collagen and laminin were respectively 5.3 and 5.1. These results suggested that all cells might have their own migration index according to their species or phenotypes and ECM type, and the migration speed could be inferred from those values without further study.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST) represent a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal neoplasms that is composed of an immature proliferation of spindle or epithelioid cells arising from the muscle layer of the gastrointestinal tract. They can be categorized into followings by light microscopic, ultrastructural, and immunohistochemical features: myogenic GIST (leiomyoma), neurogenic GIST (schwannoma), gastrointestinal autonomic nerve tumor (GANT), and gastrointestinal stromal tumor not otherwise specified (GIST-NOS), the latter being most common. Although the presence of a high mitotic count is generally accepted as the best indicator of malignancy, their clinical behavior is notoriously unpredictable. Thieir most common site of metastasis is the liver. However, multiple cystic metastasis to the liver is very rare. We report a case of gastric stromal tumor with unusual multiple cystic metastasis on the liver in a 63 year-old man. The tumor showed neither neural nor myogenic differentiation in immunohistochemical study, but CD34 positive.
