경계의 재해석을 통한 김광석 문화 공원 계획

‘김광석 다시 그리기 길’은 방천시장의 열악한 상황을 개선하기 위한 사업을 시작으로 계획되었으며, ‘김광석 다시 그리기 길’의 옹벽을 활용하여, 김광석 관련 전시 벽화 등을 계획하였고 옹벽의 밖으로 야외 공연장을 계획되어 김광석 관련 축제를 하거나 각종 음악에 의해 하나하나씩 길에는 김광석으로 채워지기 시작한다. 야외 공연장의 계획으로 인하여, 공연장과 ‘김광석 다시 그리기 길’ 사이에 옹벽이 있게 되었다. 이 옹벽을 경계라는 주제의 대상으로 지정하여 경계에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하며, 대상지의 문제점과 해결점 제시하며, 연구사례와 Case Study를 통하여 방법을 모색하여 경계를 해석하고 대상지를 분석한 결과로 김광석 문화 공원을 계획하고자 한다.

김광석길의 형성과정과 그 장소성의 창출

본 연구는 김광석길의 형성과정에 주목하여 장소성을 해명하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 김광석길의 형성에 참여한 사회주체를 예술가, 공무원, 상가상인, 주민, 외부인으로 구분하여 참여관찰과 심층면접을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 각 사회주체의 행위와 의미부여, 그리고 가시적인 경관 변화가 김광석길의 장소성 창출에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지를 확인하였다. 여기에는 장소가 사람과 사물, 그리고 공간의 상호작용이라는 과정을 통하여 탄생하는 사회적 산물이라는 전제가 있다. 장소성은 다른 곳과 구별되는 장소의 고유하고 특징적인 성격이며, 여기에는 장소를 만들고 이용하는 인간의 능동적인 실천이 드러난다. 장소성에 관한 기존의 연구는 장소의 물리적인 환경에 주목하여 장소의 이용자에게서 장소성 해명의 답을 찾았다. 이는 장소성을 구성하는 여러 요소 중 일부에 주목한 것으로, 장소성을 한정적으로 파악할 수 있다는 위험을 가진다. 또한 기존의 연구는 장소가 이미 만들어져 있음을 상정하여, 장소성을 원래부터 있던 것으로 여기고 장소성에 대한 인식을 재확인하였다. 이는 장소와 장소성에 관한 인간의 능동적이고 주체적인 역할을 축소시킬 위험이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 김광석길의 형성과정에서 각 사회주체가 어떠한 실천을 하였는지에 주목하여 기존 연구의 한계를 극복하려 하였다. 김광석길은 대구의 전통시장인 방천시장의 재활성화를 위한 사업 과정에서 지역 예술가들과 지방자치단체가 시장의 변두리 옹벽길에 김광석 벽화와 동상을 조성하면서 만들어졌다. 이후 미디어의 김광석 열풍과 함께 전국적인 관광명소가 되면서, 가수 김광석을 기념하는 장소이자 관광 상품화된 문화예술거리로서 매력적인 장소성을 가지게 되었다. 동시에 임대료와 지가 상승으로 인하여 원래 살던 주민들이 떠나는 둥지내몰림 현상이 일어나는 곳이 되었다. 이처럼 김광석길에는 여러 장소성이 경합을 벌이며 공존하고 있다. 이를 되짚는 작업을 통하여 장소를 만들고 이용하며 그 속에서 삶을 영위하는 인간에 관하여 종합적으로 사유할 수 있다. 김광석길의 형성과정에 초점을 두고 장소성을 고찰한 본 연구는 다양한 사회주체가 김광석길을 통하여 공유하고자 한 가치를 되짚어 보고, 현재 김광석길에 공존하고 있는 장소성의 양상을 진단하였다. 이를 통하여 김광석길의 건강한 발전 방향에 대하여 고민하는 데 하나의 길을 제시하였다는 의의를 가질 수 있을 것이다. This study is designed to clarify ‘placeness’ of Kim Gwang-Seok Street by focusing on the formation process of that street. To clarify the placeness, this research initially categorized those who participated in the formation of Kim Gwang-Seok Street as several groups: artists, public officials, merchants, residents, outsiders. Then I carried out participant observation and depth interview of each groups. Consequently, this study verified how the action, awareness of that group members and the visible landscape changes had influenced on creating the placeness of Kim Gwang-Seok Street. This study is based on a premise that a place is social product created by interacting with people, objects, and spaces. Placeness has a characteristic and distinct feature distinguished with other place and reveals the practices of human beings who build and utilize a place. The existing study on placeness have discovered the answer to clarify placeness by concentrating on a physical environment, which has danger of limitedly understanding the placeness because the study focuses on part of several components. Besides, these studies postulate that the place already exists and checks not only the perception of the placeness but also cut back the active and independent role that people have with regard to place and placeness. Hence, this paper attempted to surmount limitation of the existing study by concentrating on what the people who directly involved have done. Kim Gwang-Seok Street has been created, on business process of revitalizing Bang-cheon market which is a traditional market of Daegu, by developing the mural and statue of Kim Gwang-seok at the retaining wall street of market outskirts. Since that, the street has become a tourist attraction with a Kim Gwang-seok’s fad of the media and has had the attractive placeness as a cultural arts street which is commercialized and commemorate Kim Gwang-seok; simultaneously, the incident that residents have been displaced due to increase of renting and land value. Namely, the several placeness in the Kim Gwang-Seok Street coexist, competing with other placeness, By retracing these process, it is possible to comprehensively ponder over people who create a place and lead a life in a place. In conclusion, This study reflected on the placeness, putting focus on the formation process of Kim Gwang-Seok Street; consequently, this study recalled the value that the various social agents tried to share through Kim Gwang-Seok Street, and grasp the aspect of placeness. Accordingly, this study is relevant in that this study suggest a solution for promising process of development.

김광석스토리하우스의 쌍방향 노래 부르기 체험 설계 연구

1996년에 김광석이 세상을 떠난 지 20년의 세월이 지났다. 1980-90년대에 김광석은 그 시대의 사람들에게 음악을 통해 많은 위로를 주었다. 그리고, 현재까지 많은 콘텐츠들이 김광석을 소재로 만들어지고 있다. 2017년에 김광석의 고향인 대구에서 사람들이 그의 모습을 영원히 남기기 위해 한국에서 최초로 현대 가수를 위한 인물기념관 - 김광석스토리하우스를 건설하였다. 김광석스토리하우스는 그의 인생과 경험을 주제로 한 전시관이다. 이 전시관은 전통적인 전시기법을 많이 사용하였기 때문에 관람하고 나서 깊은 인상을 남기지 못하여 관람객에게 아쉬움을 남길 수 밖에 없다. 본 연구는 체험전시의 특성, 구조, 매체를 분석하여 김광석스토리하우스에 적합한 체험 전시를 도출하기 위한 연구를 하였다. 김광석스토리하우스에서 그의 노래, 생애 등의 소재는 후세들에게 쉽게 이해하고 기억할 수 있는 콘텐츠 특성을 표현하도록 연출되고 목적에 적합한 메시지로 전달되어야 한다. 이를 위해 김광석스토리하우스의 쌍방향 체험을 선정하였다. 체험 전시를 설계하려면 스토리텔링 구조가 되어야 한다. 김광석의 노래는 대부분 일상생활을 소재로 하였다. '김광석의 인생 이야기 - 여행 이야기 - 노래 이야기' 이런 식으로 전시관에서 전시를 하게 되면 김광석의 완전한 삶을 볼 수 있다. 이 스토리라인에 따라 본 연구에서 제시하는 김광석스토리하우스의 전시 체험 노래 부르기 콘텐츠는 김광석의 노래뿐만 아니라 그의 삶에 대한 이해도 관람객에게 제공할 수 있도록 한다. KimKwang-seok Story House Interactive Singing Experience Design Yu, Ye Department of Cultural Contents & Communication Science Graduate School of Konkuk University It has been over 20 years since KimKwang-seok passed away in 1996. In the 1980s, KimKwang-seok gave comfort to most people in that time through his music. So far many theme contents are made based on KimKwang-seok. In his hometown Daegu, to memorize him, people built a memorial museum which is the first museum built for a modern singer in South Korea in 2017- KimKwang-seok Story House. The KimKwang-seok Story House is an exhibition hall designed as per his life experience. Therefore, the House is built in traditional displaying style, which cannot leave a deep impression to people but regret. Today with advanced technology, many displays are exhibited through science and technology. This paper tries to find out experience display corresponding to KimKwang-seok Story House through analyzing features, structure and medium of experience display, which is also the objective of this research. In KimKwang-seok Story House, to be better understood by visitors, the KimKwang-seok’s singing career should be displayed with its features and sent through relevant message. The author chooses interactive experience of KimKwang-seok Story House. To design experience display, story structure should be set first. Since the songs of KimKwang-seok are mostly based on daily life, if the exhibition is displayed with structure of “KimKwang-seok’s life story-traveling story-singing life”, visitors may get better understanding of his whole life. Along with this story line, the experience singing content exhibited in KimKwang-seok Story House not only exhibit his songs, but also people’s understanding of his life, which will enable visitors to get a deeper understanding about him. 가사분석을 통한 김광석 음악의 대중성에 관한 연구

본 연구는 70∼90년대 대중음악의 성장에 큰 역할을 했던 ‘김광석’ 이라는 가수의 창작곡을 통해 그의 음악이 가지는 대중성을 이해하는데 목적을 둔다. 김광석의 음악은 대중음악의 큰 테두리 안에 포크음악으로 분류된다. 포크음악은 가사가 가지는 내용에 큰 의미를 둔다는 점을 고려하여 가사분석을 통해 대중성을 이해하고자 하였다. 김광석은 민중가요로 점철되었던 포크음악을 대중가요의 세계로 끌어들이는데 큰 역할을 했던 인물로 그의 음악을 이해한다는 것은 대중음악이 형성되는 양상과 배경을 이해하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 대중음악과 김광석의 음악세계를 고찰하기 위해 그의 생애를 전・후반기로 나누어 살펴보았다. 생애분석은 김광석의 음악적 배경을 이해할 수 있는 기반이 되며 그의 음악이 가지는 예술문화적 해석의 다양성에 힘을 실어줄 것이라 생각한다. 분석대상은 순수 창작물로만 선정하였다. 김광석의 음악성과물 중 본연의 음악적 특색이 완연히 드러났다고 평가받는 3집과 4집을 대상으로 하여 비교텍스트를 선정하였다. 그 중 주제의 다양성을 고려하여 총 6개의 작품을 선정하였다. 「나른한 오후」, 「잊어야 한다는 마음으로」, 「행복의 문」, 「바람이 불어오는 곳」, 「일어나」, 「자유롭게」을 분석함으로써 김광석 음악에 한 발 더 다가가고자 한다. 개별 작품들의 주제는 다양하다. 일상의 노곤함을 담은 「나른한 오후」, 사랑의 애절함과 가슴시림을 표현하고 있는 「잊어야 한다는 마음으로」, 인생의 고독과 상실감을 버텨나가는 극복의 노래 「행복의 문」, 여행의 설렘과 두려움을 이야기하는 「바람이 불어오는 곳」, 삶의 상실감과 번뇌 속에서 가져야하는 자세를 보여주는 「일어나」, 생명의 탄생과 고귀함, 자유로움을 담은 「자유롭게」는 다양한 방면에서의 삶의 모습을 노래하고 있다. 김광석 음악은 김광석 개인이 가졌던 감각을 벗어나 공론화된 문화의 장에서 구현되면서 대중들의 공감과 동감을 이끌어낸다. 또한 인간이라면 살아가면서 누구나 한번쯤 겪어볼 가장 보편적이고 보통의 사건으로 이루어져 있으며 그 보편성과 일상성이 김광석 음악의 힘으로 작용한다. 거기서 한 획을 더하는 점은 그의 노랫말이 보여주는 어조와 문체의 사실성이다. 일상적인 담화를 풀어내듯 표현하고 있는 가사의 구성은 마치 자신의 이야기를 남에게 들려주듯 편안하게 서술되고 듣는 이로 하여금 해석적 부담과 목적성을 덜어낸 감상을 가능케 한다. 이와 같은 방식으로 창작되어진 그의 노래는 당시 대중들이 바랐던 음악적 욕구를 잘 반영하였고 그것을 통해 대중문화가 추구하는 경제성도 획득하면서 대표적인 대중음악가의 반열에 오르게 된다. 또한 그의 음악은 그가 죽은 지 20년이 지난 지금까지 대중들에게 향유되고 있으며 다시부르기, 리메이크앨범발매, 추모콘서트 등의 양상으로 21세기까지 그 생명력을 이어가고 있다.

문화상업가로 이용행태 및 만족요인분석 : 김광석 다시그리기 길을 대상으로

KimKwangSuk-gil is a representative culture-based vitalization of commercial streets in Dae-gu. This street has a unique consumer space, and by the unique environmental characteristics of the area, cultural and artistic functions converge to add cultural affluence and character. As a result, the number of visitors has surged, making it a commercial district where culture and commerce coexist. However, as large commercial capital is infiltrated, building rents are rising and cultural functions, which were the driving force behind the initial building of the street image, are being transferred and so-called gentrification is emerging. It is feared that this could tarnish the identity and location of a self-cultivated cultural and commercial district and weaken its sustainability. Therefore, it is an important urban design task that how to live up to its place in a cultural and commercial district where unique place image has become a key factor in revitalization. In order to make these cultural and commercial streets more sustainable and culturally distinct, planning aspects of understanding and maintaining and developing the activation process are necessary. the purpose of this study is to identify characteristics of KimKwangSuk-gil in Dae-gu, which is reprentive example culture-based vitalization of commercial streets, and provide methods to improve environment of the streets, and basic information for planning of similar the streets. To achieve the purpose the study draws the following findings by investingating and analyzing use patterns and satisfaction of components of culture-based vitalization of commercial. firstly, it is important to express a story with unique characteristics to give the street its own placefulness. Secondly, the street environment should be improved to support the theme and identity of this street as a way to secure harmony of the landscape. Thirdly, the availability of parking lots and rest facilities should be increased to improve the awareness of the suitability of the facilities. Fourthly, commercial facilities consisting mainly of food items should be developed in connection with the Kim Gwang-seok story to develop various types of shopping, experience, etc. so that various consumption activities can be carried out. Lastly, during the afternoon session when you visit Kim Gwang-seok Road the most, you should provide a variety of other arts activities besides busking. The finding from this study can contribute to the improvement of components of KimkwangSuk-gil and provide basic data for plan and maintenance of similar culture-based vitalization of commercial streets. 문화의 거리 사업은 단순한 통행을 위한 획일적 가로에서 문화 창출의 공간으로 그 활용 가치를 높이는데 의의가 있다(정승우, 2010). 특히 2000년대 말부터는 문화 프로젝트를 전국에 보급하여 낙후된 가로공간에 대규모 벽화사업을 시행함으로써 환경개선 사업이 전국에서 이루어졌다. 이후 이에 따른 긍정적인 효과에 힘입어 비슷한 종류의 문화 프로젝트가 주류를 이루게 되었다. 하지만 이러한 가로 개선사업은 물리적 환경에만 치우쳐 있어 그 실효적인 성과를 얻지 못하는 경우가 많다. 이에 최근에는 물리적 환경뿐만 그 가로공간만의 특색을 바탕으로 장소성을 가진 공간을 조성하고자 하고 있다. 이는 지역마다 환경과 위치가 다르기 때문에 지역의 경쟁력을 강화시킬 수 있는 수단으로 사용될 수 있다. 이처럼 장소적 정체성을 갖게 된 대표적인 사례로 이슈가 되고 있는 곳이 바로 대구광역시 중구의 ‘김광석 다시그리기 길(이하 김광석 길)’이다. 김광석 길은 예술·문화의 기능 활성화로 인해 이미지와 장소성이 강화되어 자생적으로 활성화된 문화상업가로 라고 할 수 있다. 김광석 길은 지역 고유의 환경적 특성에 의해 예술·문화의 기능이 클러스트를 형성하여 풍부한 문화적 특색이 더해져 개성있는 소비 공간이 만들어졌다. 이로 인해 방문객이 급증하여 평범하였던 상업가로가 문화 및 상업이 공존하는 문화상업가로로 활성화되었다. 그러나 상업기능이 활성화됨에 따라 대형 상업 자본이 침투하면서 건물 임대료가 상승하고 김광석길 가로 이미지의 핵심이었던 예술·문화의 기능이 값비싼 임대료를 견디지 못하고 이러한 기능들이 빠지는 현상, 이른바 젠트리피케이션이 나타나고 있다. 이로 인해 자생적으로 형성된 문화상업가로의 정체성이 퇴색되고 가로 활성화 기능이 저해될 수 있다는 점이 우려되고 있다. 그러므로 독특한 장소적 이미지가 활성화의 핵심 요인으로 조성된 문화상업가로에서 그 장소성을 어떻게 살려갈 수 있을 것인가 하는 점은 중요한 도시·조경설계 과제라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 문화상업가로를 보다 활성화시키고 다른 상업가로와 차별성을 가지도록 하기 위해 예술·문화가 도입된 과정을 이해하고 그 가로만의 정체성을 유지·발전시킬 수 있는 계획적 측면의 고려가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 첫째, 김광석 길의 형성과정에서 나타나는 공간적 특성을 파악하고 둘째, 방문객들의 설문조사를 통하여 김광석 길을 방문하는 원인을 방문객의 관점에서 분석하여 김광석 길 활성화에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지 파악하고자 한다. 이를 통하여 문화상업가로 활성화를 위한 계획지침으로 활용할 수 있는 요소를 파악할 수 있으며, 김광석 길이 지속적으로 발전하기 위한 시사점을 도출하는데 의의가 있다.

문화상업가로의 젠트리피케이션 과정 및 특성에 관한 연구 : 김광석길 및 방천시장을 사례로

Modern cities are increasingly focused on urban regeneration to improve their environment. In particular, there is a lot of interest in local regeneration through culture. To revive traditional markets, cultural projects were adopted, and large-scale mural projects were carried out in underdeveloped areas to improve the environment. The underdeveloped areas are then revived, but at the same time, the floating population and the commercial market are quickly established and turned into tourist destinations. This results in a gentrification of local land prices and rental rates, which greatly increases the price of land, leaving the natives of the area and the artists who rebuilt it. This study investigated the process of specialization and characteristics that take place in cultural commercial streets of Bangchun Market and KimKwangsuk-gil constructed and developed by public-led urban regeneration projects. Physical changes and behavioral factors in Bangchun Market and KimKwangsuk-gil were analyzed through literature surveys, field surveys, interviews, and surveys. And based on the analysis contents, I looked at positive and negative effects of gentrification in the area. Through this, I would like to suggest some hints on the future direction of cultural commercial streets in Bangchun Market and KimKwangsuk-gil. The cultural and commercial streets of Bangchun Market and KimKwangsuk-gil are different from the general commercial streets that occur naturally. Gentrification developed with the introduction of public initiative for urban regeneration and distinctive cultural factors. As time goes by, the negative effects of the treatment are deepening, including the deterioration of cultural factors and expansion of commercial functions. Thus, the gentrificaion on Bangchun Market and KimKwangsuk-gil should move toward maintaining and developing its own unique cultural element. For this, the various players who form regions should pay attention not only to the development of the KimKwangsuk-gil, but also the improvement of Bangchun Markets’s functions. And it should also try to come up with more specific solutions to preserve cultural-based regional characteristics. 현대의 도시는 점진적으로 도시의 환경을 개선하는 도시재생에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 특히 문화를 통한 지역재생사업에 많은 관심을 나타내고 있는데, 재래시장을 활성화하기 위해 문화 프로젝트를 도입하거나, 낙후된 지역에 대규모 벽화사업을 실시하여 환경개선을 꾀하였다. 이를 통해 낙후된 지역은 활기를 되찾게 되지만 동시에 유동인구가 상승하고, 빠르게 상권이 형성되어 관광지로 변모한다. 이에 지역의 지가와 임대료가 크게 상승하여 지역의 원주민들과 지역을 부흥시켰던 예술가들이 밀려나는 젠트리피케이션 현상이 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 공공주도의 재생사업에 의해 조성되고 발전된 방천시장과 김광석길의 문화상업가로에서 나타나는 젠트리피케이션의 과정 및 특성을 알아보았다. 문헌조사와 현장조사, 인터뷰, 설문조사를 통해 방천시장과 김광석길의 물리적인 변화와, 행태적인 요소에 대해 분석하고 분석의 내용을 바탕으로 해당지역에서 나타난 젠트리피케이션의 긍정적・부정적 효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 방천시장과 김광석길의 문화상업가로가 향후 나아가야 할 방향에 관한 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 방천시장과 김광석길의 문화상업가로는 자생적으로 생겨나는 일반적인 상업가로에서 나타나는 젠트리피케이션 현상과는 다르게 공공주도의 도시재생정책과, 특색 있는 문화적 요소의 도입으로 인해 젠트리피케이션 현상이 발생되었고, 시간이 경과함에 따라 문화적 요소가 퇴색되고 상업기능이 확장되는 등 젠트리피케이션의 부정적인 효과가 심화되는 모습을 보이고 있다. 따서 방천시장과 김광석길에서의 젠트리피케이션은 지역만의 개성있는 문화적 요소를 유지 및 발전시키기 위한 방향으로 나아가야 하는데, 이를 위해 지역을 구성하고 있는 다양한 주체들은 김광석길의 발전만이 아니라 방천시장의 시장 기능 향상에 대해서도 관심을 기울여야 할 것이며, 문화를 기반으로 한 지역만의 특색을 보존하기 위한 보다 구체적인 해결방안을 마련하도록 해야 한다.

주크박스 뮤지컬에서 사용되는 김광석의 음악에 관한 연구 : 뮤지컬 그날들과 바람이 불어 오는곳에 관한 연구를 중심으로

지나간 것에 대한 그리움은 그 어느 시대에서나 예술 작품의 좋은 소재가 되었다. 복고와 향수라는 아이템은 끊임없이 재생산되는 문화테마다. 주크박스 뮤지컬 <맘마미아!>의 상업적 성공은 뮤지컬계에 던져진 신선한 충격이었다. 비록 복고가 하나의 사회 현상으로 받아들여지고 있는 상황이라 하더라도, 철지난 대중음악을 교묘하게 잘 엮어서 성공적으로 완결된 하나의 뮤지컬로 만들어낸다는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니었기 때문이다. 뮤지컬 <맘마미아!>는 자판기처럼 동전을 넣고 음악을 듣는 기계인 주크박스에 빗댄 비아냥을 보기 좋게 날려버린 주크박스 뮤지컬의 교본과도 같은 작품으로 우뚝 섰다. 한편 <맘마미아!>의 성공 이후 엘비스 프레슬리의 음악으로 만들어진 <올 슉 업>, 포 시즌스의 음악으로 만들어 진 <저지 보이스> 등 상업적으로 성공을 거둠과 동시에 또한 작품성이라는 측면에서도 인정을 받았던 몇몇 작품이 있었지만, 대체적으로는 완성도 측면에서 인정을 받지 못한 작품들이 많았다. 이는 주크박스 뮤지컬이 가지는 태생적인 문제점인 “드라마”의 엉성함에 많은 부분이 기인한다. 더욱이 대중성이라는 점에서 이미 검증을 받은 음악을 사용하여 제작을 한다는 점에서 상대적으로 수월하게 제작이 가능하여, 우후죽순처럼 급조해서 등장하는 작품들이 많았던 것도 사실이다. 혹자들은 이것을 <맘마미아!>의 저주라고도 하였다. 하지만 드라마의 빈약함을 극복할 방법이 없는 것은 아니다. 그것은 이미 <맘마미아!>가 보여주었다. 우선 원곡의 특징에 대한 철저한 분석이 바탕이 된다면, 그리고 그것을 뮤지컬에 어떤 식으로 얹을지에 대한 치열한 고민이 있다면 분명 성공할 수 있다는 사실을 증명해낸 바 있다. 또한 주크박스 뮤지컬을 보려하는 관객의 만족을 어디에서 찾아야 할지를 정확히 찾아내서 이를 뮤지컬에 접목을 시킬 수 있다면 성공적 작품이 될 수 있다. 특히 주크박스 뮤지컬은 특정 세대, 특정 지역, 혹은 특정 예술가와의 긴밀한 연관성이 있을 수밖에 없다. 이는 최근 한국에서도 주크박스 뮤지컬 <광화문 연가>의 성공적인 사례로도 파악할 수 있는 부분이다. <광화문 연가>의 대 성공 이후 뮤지컬계가 주목하고 발굴한 가수는 바로 김광석이다. 본 연구는 성공적인 주크박스 뮤지컬들의 특징을 분석해보고, 최근 연이어 제작되고 있는 김광석 뮤지컬, <그날들> <바람이 불어오는 곳>의 제작현황과 제작되는 원인, 그리고 두 작품의 비교분석을 통해 원곡과 원곡자에 대한 관객의 정서적 교류와 작품에 대한 만족도에 관한 상관성이 어떠한 형태로 이루어지는 지에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 이를 통해 앞으로 우리나라 주크박스 뮤지컬이 나아가야 할 방향을 어떠한 형태로 잡아야 할지에 대한 대안도 생각해보고자 한다. Yearning for a time in the past becomes fantastic materials for works of art regardless of the times. Items so called retrospect and nostalgia are cultural themes that are continuously reproduced. the commercial success of <Mammamia !>, a jukebox musical, came as a refreshing surprise in the musical world. Although retrospect is considered as one of social phenomena, it is not easy to produce a completely successful musical by redesigning old popular music ingeniously. Musical <Mammamia !> emerged in status of the textbook of jukebox musical beyond the redicule that insinuates the musical to jukebox that accepts coins to play music like a vending machine. On the other hand, although several musicals such as <All Shook Up> based on Elvis' music, <Jersey Boys> that is a musical biography of the Four Seasons, and etc. were commercially successful and were recognized for their high quality after the success of <Mammamia !>, majority of other musicals failed to be recognized for the quality. It is mostly related to the flimsiness of "drama", an innate problems that jukebox musical has. Moreover, in the point of popularity, it is comparatively easy to produce to use already-known music and it is true that lots of musicals were produced in a hurry like so many mushrooms. Someone says it is a curse of <Mammamia !>. However, there are some ways to recover the meager of drama. <Mammamia !> showed the ways. It proved that musical could success if a complete analysis on the characteristics of original music was conducted and the expression of musical was carefully considered. Furthermore, the efforts to meet the satisfaction of the audience who is willing to see a jukebox musical and to graft onto a musical are a key issue to make a success. Especially, jukebox musicals have ample reason to have a close relationship with specific generations particular locations, or certain artists. In Korea, a recent jukebox musical <Gwanghamun Love Song> is a successful case. Kim, Gwang-seok is a singer whom the musical world pay attention to and succeeded in finding after a big hit of <Gwanghamun Love Song>. This study attempts to analyze the characteristics of successful jukebox musicals, to examine the reason to produce and the present situation of producing Kim, Gwang-seok musicals; <That Day> and <Where Wind Comes>, and to explore the emotional interaction between original songs and singers and the audience and the types of the interrelationship for the satisfaction with the musicals by conducting a comparative analysis on two musicals. Through that, this study gives an opportunity to consider the future direction and styles of Korean jukebox musical and alternative plans.

김광석 노래의 가사 연구 : 대중성과 일상성을 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to analyze the music of singer-songwriter Kim KwangSeok in order to identify how it has maintained popularity for generations. This study analyzes the keywords, phrases, and musical contexts that have connected with audiences for more than 30 years. Kim KwangSeok is a significant folk music singer and composer in South Korea. His songs contain deep and meaningful lyrics that range from social criticism to highly emotional poetic verses. In order to best understand the context of Kim KwangSeok’s music, this study begins by exploring the concepts, history, and characteristics of popular and folk music in South Korea. This study explores why the public adores Kim KwangSeok’s music. While Kim KwangSeok is a skilled singer-songwriter, his talents will only be assessed in relation to his enduring popularity and the success of his music. Kim KwangSeok’s five most popular songs were selected and are analyzed by a variety of criteria to identify how they have continued to be popular for over 3 decades. Listener interviews in addition to lyrical, harmonic, and melodic analysis give a compelling story to Kim KwangSeok’s lasting success. The songs selected for the study include both compositions by Kim KwangSeok and songs composed by other artists that he recorded and popularized. These recordings represent the most popular and influential of his expansive repertoire. The selected songs are “It Was Not Love if it Hurt That Much”, “With a Heart that Should Forget”, “About Thirty”, “Love Was”, and “The Story of an Old Couple in Their 60s”. These songs are divided into two primary themes: life and love, then are assessed by many criteria. Kim KwangSeok’s music, true to its folk origins, values lyrical content and emotional story telling beyond that of other genres. Folk artists use minimal instrumentation with simple and repetitive melodies to emphasize the lyrics. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing the lyrical content of Kim KwangSeok’s songs. Analysis of form and harmony are done to show how the arrangements support the narrative of the songs. Additionally, a qualitative study of in-depth interviews with a varied selection of members of the public was conducted to further understand the meaning of his music. An in-depth study of the form, groove, key, tempo, and harmony of each song are conducted to better understand the compositions. The results of this musical analysis confirm the folk origins of the music and show how the harmony complements and emphasizes the lyrical content. Following the musical analysis a deep-dive into the lyrical content of the music is taken. To fully understand the narrative of the songs; all words, phrases, and references are researched and explained. Furthermore, correlations between lyrics, narrative, and musical arrangement are identified and explored. Moreover, by analyzing the results of eleven cross-generational interviews it can be found that while there are differing interpretations of meaning the songs are still relatable to all people. Lyrical analysis shows that Kim KwangSeok’s music uses everyday spoken vocabulary and phrasing making the songs universally relatable. The words create vivid images for all listeners; as songs utilize common life events that everyone have experienced. Additionally, Kim KwangSeok’s emotional expression and unique vocal tone add a sentimental feeling to his music that draws listeners into the story. Poetic and memorable lyrics invite listeners to sing along and experience deep emotional memories together. Kim KwangSeok brought the narratives to life in his listeners’ imaginations; creating an amazingly profound mark on the Korean folk music world. Music is a tool to convey the joys and sorrows life, it enriches relationships and brings deep meaning to existence. Kim KwangSeok was an amazing singer who’s sincerity and talent connects deeply with his audience manifesting sincere and heartfelt emotions. This study exemplifies the timelessness of Kim KwangSeok’s music; verifying the importance of stories about life and love.

주크박스 뮤지컬 분석 : 김광석 가창곡을 중심으로 한 뮤지컬을 중심으로

대한민국의 뮤지컬 시장은 1990년 이후 20년 동안 빠른 성장을 이루었다. 유명한 해외 뮤지컬을 국내로 들어오면서부터 한국 뮤지컬 시장은 해외 스태프의 작업과 배우들의 기량향상으로 빠르게 성장을 하게 되었다. 한국 창작 뮤지컬들도 발전을 이루었고, 2005년부터는 한국 창작 뮤지컬이 외국 뮤지컬을 제작 편수에서 앞서게 되었다. 하지만 재공연과 공연기간의 장기화 비율을 따져보면 수입되는 외국 뮤지컬에 한참 뒤지고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이런 상황에서 국내 뮤지컬계에 새롭게 나타난 것이 기존의 히트곡으로 뮤지컬을 넘버로 사용하는 주크박스 뮤지컬이었다. 해외에서는 1999년 영국 웨스트엔드에서 <맘마미아!>(Mamma Mia!, 1999)가 큰 성공을 거두게 되었고 한국에서도 <와이키키 브라더스>, <달고나> 등의 작품의 성공으로 많은 주크박스 뮤지컬들이 생겨났다. 이미 알고 있는 히트곡으로 이루어진 주크박스 뮤지컬의 가장 큰 장점은 본인이 알고 있는 노래가 나올 때 함께 부르며 공연에 참여하는 느낌을 준다는 점이다. 하지만 주크박스 뮤지컬이라고 해서 모두 흥행하는 것은 아니다. 외국에서도 실패한 작품들이 많았고, 국내에서도 가수 자우림의 노래를 바탕으로 만든 <매직 카펫 라이드>(2005)와 가수 동물원의 노래로 만든 <동물원>(2007)이 작품성과 흥행성에서 모두 저조한 성적을 거두며 주크박스 뮤지컬의 비중이 줄어들게 되었다. 하지만 2011년 작곡가 이영훈의 <광화문연가>(2011)의 흥행을 시작으로 2013년 김광석의 노래로 만든 <그날들>(2013)이 흥행에 성공하면서 다시 주크박스 뮤지컬이 국내 창작 뮤지컬의 대안으로 떠오르게 되었다. 본 연구는 수많은 주크박스 뮤지컬 작품 중 故김광석의 곡으로 제작된 주크박스 뮤지컬인 <그날들>(2013)과 <디셈버: 끝나지 않은 노래>(2014), <바람이 불어오는 곳>(2012)에 나오는 주요곡이 어떤 변형을 통해 뮤지컬 넘버가 되었는지 알아보고자 한다. 주크박스 뮤지컬은 현재 국내 뮤지컬계에서 차지하는 비중이 높음에도 불구하고 아직까지 선행연구가 미비하다. 본 연구가 앞으로의 주크박스 뮤지컬 연구에 많은 도움이 되기를 바라고, 주크박스 뮤지컬 제작에도 도움이 조금이나마 되기를 바란다.

'서른 즈음에'의 조형적 표현에 관한 연구 : 김광석 음악을 통한 본인 작품 중심으로

본 논문은 2008년 발표한 본인의 작품 [김광석 리포트] 를 통하여 작품의 전개과정을 표현하고자 했던 주요 내용과 그 제작 방법에 관한 연구 분석한 것이다. 사회와 예술은 상호 보완적인 관계이다. 과학문명, 기계문명, 물질문명으로 상징되어지는 현대사회는 정신적 가치보다 물질적 가치를 중요시 하게 되면서 궁극적인 인간 삶의 가치 또한 변모되어 가고 있다. 또한 개인의 인격적 가치와는 상관없이 사회제도나, 사회구조의 기능성이나 합리성을 지나치게 강조하다보니 도리어 제도가 인간의 정신적 육체적인 활동을 제한하고 있다. 사회가 발전할수록 사회는 인간을 더욱 구속하게 되고 인간의 고유한 개체성을 획일화시켜 집단적 사고 성향이 커지게 됐다. 그러나 획일화된 사고 패턴은 현대인에게 오히려 일탈하고자 하는 욕망을 불러일으키고 심리적 불안과 정신혼란으로 위기의식을 가중시키게 되었다. 본인의 작품은 현대인의 일탈하고자 하는 욕망을 그 바탕에 두어 조형화 하였다. 본인의 작품에 나타나는 몽타주형식의 이미지들은 일탈의식을 표현하고자 하였다. 실제 존재했던 인물 ‘대중 가수 김광석’과 그의 노래 ‘서른 즈음에’를 통하여 일탈의 새로운 가상세계 이미지를 표현하고 그에 대한 제작과정과 내용에 대해 서술하고 어떠한 조형적 특성을 가지고 있는지 본 논고를 통해 밝히고자 한다. 또한 본인의 작품 속에서 어떻게 일탈의 이미지로 형상화 되는지 모색하였으며 음악을 통한 예술적 접근으로 인간이 느끼는 현실과 꿈, 실재와 허구 사이에서 인간의 본질을 이해하고자 하였다. 제1장 서론에서는 본고의 연구 목적과 연구 방법, 그리고 연구의 범주에 대해 서술하였다. 제2장 본론에서는 1. ‘서른 즈음에’ 대중가요를 통한 일탈이미지를 사회적, 철학적 접근을 통한 정체성의 모색과 일탈을 작품화한 [김광석 리포트] 에 대한 연구 배경으로 서술하였다. 2. 가상세계를 통한 영상작품과, 설치된 전시공간의 이론적 설명과 음악적 일탈이미지에 대한 의미와 특징들을 서술하였다. 3. 본인의 작품 [김광석 리포트]의 제작기법과 재료, 제작 의도를 연구, 분석하고자 한다. 본인은 음악적 일탈의 모색과 본인의 주된 몽타주기법을 통해 작품에 대해 더욱 깊이 통찰할 수 있는 기회가 되기를 희망하며 본인의 작품의 진행 방향을 제시하였다. This thesis is to study and analyze main contents which tried to express the unfolding course of work and the manufacture method through my work, [Report of Kim, Kwawng Suk] announced in 2008. Society and art has mutually supplementary relation. In modern society to be symbolized as science civilization, mechanical civilization, and material civilization, value of ultimate human life is being transfigured while taking serious view of material value than mental value. In addition, while emphasizing society system or functional nature or rationality of society structure excessively regardless of individual moral value, system is limiting the mental and bodily activity of human beings. As society develops, society gets to restrict human beings all the more, and it standardizes individuality peculiar to human beings. Thus, collective thinking disposition gets to be great. But, standardized thinking pattern arouse desire to try to deviate to moderns and came to aggravate crisis consciousness with psychological uneasiness and mental confusion. My work made moderns' desire to try to deviate into molding on the basis of it. Images of montage form which appear in my work tried to express deviation consciousness. Through a person who existed really, 'popular singer, Kim, Kwang Suk' and his song 'at the time of 30 years old', I try to express new imaginary world image of deviation and describe the manufacture course and contents for it and try to clarify which plastic feature it has through this thesis. In addition, I groped how it is made into form with the image of deviation in my work and tried to understand the essence of human beings between actuality and dream and reality and falsehood that human beings feel with artistic approach through music. In the introduction of chapter 1, I described study goal, study method and study category of this thesis. In the main discourse of chapter 2, 1. I described deviation image through popular song, 'at the time of 30 years old as groping of original form nature through social and philosophical approach and as study background for [report of Kim, Kwang Suk] which was made into work. 2. I described reflection work through imaginary world, theoretical explanation of installed exhibition space, and meaning and features for musical deviation image. 3. I try to study and analyze manufacture technique, material and manufacture intention of my work, [report of Kim, Kwang Suk]. Through groping of musical deviation and my main montage technique, I hope that they will be the opportunity to be able to discern work deeply all the more, and I presented the progression direction of my work.
