        Stafne Bone Cavity of the Mandible

        Stafne bone cavity is a rare mandibular defect that was first reported by Edward C. Stafne in 1942. It commonly presents with a well-demarcated, asymptomatic, unilateral radiolucency that indicates lingual invagination of the cortical bone. A 52-year-old female patient who with nasal bone fracture, visited the hospital. During facial bone computed tomography (CT) for facial area evaluation, a well-shaped cystic lesion was accidentally detected on the right side of the mandible. Compared to the left side, no swelling or deformity was observed in the right side of the oral lesion, and no signs of deformity caused by mucosal inflammation. 3D CT scans, and mandible series x-rays were performed, which showed a well-ossified radiolucent oval lesion. Axial CT image revealed a cortical defect containing soft tissue lesion, which has similar density as the submandibular gland on the lingual surface of the mandible. The fact that Stafne cavity is completely surrounded by the bone is the evidence to support the hypothesis that embryonic salivary gland is entrapped by the bone. In most cases, Stafne bone cavity does not require surgical treatment. We believe that the mechanical pressure from the salivary gland could have caused the defect.

        Transient Anisocoria during Medial Blowout Fracture Surgery

        Transient anisocoria is rare during blowout fracture reconstruction. We report a case of transient anisocoria occurring during medial blowout fracture reconstruction and review the relevant literature. A 54-year-old woman was struck in the face and was admitted for a medial blowout fracture of the left eye. During the operation, persistent bleeding occurred. To control this bleeding, a 1% lidocaine solution with 1:200,000 epinephrine was applied to the orbital wall with cotton pledgets. In total, 40 mL of local anesthetic was used for the duration of the operation. After approximately three hours of the surgery, the ipsilateral pupil was observed to be dilated, with sluggish response to light. By 3 hours after the operation, the mydriasis had resolved with normal light reflex. In conclusion, neurological and ophthalmologic evaluation must be performed prior to blowout fracture surgery. Preoperative ophthalmic evaluation is simple and essential in ruling out any preexisting neurologic condition. Moreover, surgeons must be aware of the fact that excessive injection of lidocaine with epinephrine for hemostasis during orbital wall surgery can result in intraoperative anisocoria. Anisocoria-related situations must be addressed in a proficient manner through sufficient understanding of the mechanism controlling the pupillary response to various stimuli.

        USN기반 PDR 센서의 검출 시간차를 이용한 표적 경로 검출 알고리즘

        본 논문에서는 탐지영역에 존재하는 이동 표적의 유무 정보만을 제공하는 USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) 기반 PDR(Pulse Doppler Radar) 센서 노드 환경에서 인접한 PDR 센서로 부터 이동하는 표적의 경로에 따른 검출 시간차의 통계적 특성을 이용한 표적 경로 검출 알고리즘을 제안한다. 알고리즘에 사용된 변수는 실측 실험 정보를 기반으로 도출한 표적 검출 시간차와 비검출 시간차이다. 그리고 PDR 센서 탐지 영역에서 발생되는 표적 이동 경로는 센서를 관통하는 경로, 센서와 병렬로 이동하는 경로 그리고 두 센서 사이를 바라보고 진입한 후 한쪽 센서 방 향으로 향하는 3가지 경우이고, 각 경우에 대해 500회의 실험을 수행 하였다. 그 결과 각 경우에 따른 오류 검출 백분 율은 각각 5.67%, 5.83% 그리고 7.17% 으로 제한된 표적 검출 환경에서 정확하게 표적 경로를 검출한다. This paper proposes the target path detection algorithm using statistical characteristics of an activated time lag along a moving path of target from a neighboring sensor in PDR(Pulse Doppler Radar) sensor node environment based on USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) with a limitation detecting only an existence of moving target. In the proposed algorithm, detection and non-detection time lag obtained from the experimental data are used. The experimental data are through repetitive action of each 500 times about three path scenarios such as passing in between two sensors, moving parallel to two sensors, and turning through two sensors. From this experiments, error detection percentages of three path scenarios are 5.67%, 5.83%, and 7.17%, respectively. They show that the proposed algorithm can exactly detect a target path using the limited PDR sensor nodes.

        Investigation and observation of the various coat colors in the Jindo dog

        Because some coat colors other than white and yellowish-brown are not accepted by the Jindo dog Standard, this study was conducted investigate population size for pertaining to the coat color of Jindo dogs except white and yellow-brown, the natural monument of korea during 2018. It was investigated, there were 130 black Jindo (four-eyed) dogs, 32 tiger-striped Jindo dogs, 24 black Jindo (all black) dogs , 19 grey (pepper-and-salt) Jindo dogs and 1 spotted Jindo dog in Jindo area. The coat colors Jindo dogs should not be limited to yellow and white in the breed standard, and Jindo dogs should be judged not by their coat color but by their noble characteristics. Such analyses of population size of coat colors Jindo dogs could be applied as important fundamental data for conservation and management of endangered coat colors in Jindo dogs.

        A Cultural Comparison of Sex Role Identity and Attitude toward Grooming and Recreational Apparel Shopping Behavior among Male Consumers

        This study focused on the cultural differences between South Korea and the U.S. in terms of male consumers’sex role attitude and its influence on grooming and apparel shopping behavior. Purposive samples of American and South Korean males aged between 20 and 40 years were surveyed. The sample sizes were 219 and 233 for American and South Korean consumers, respectively. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling and ANOVA using SPSS 12.0and AMOS 14.0. The results indicated that only grooming was influenced by the perceived femininity in the case of South Korean men; however, the model for American men indicated a significant positive influence of femininity on grooming and recreational apparel shopping behavior. In other words, American male consumers who perceive themselves feminine were more likely to be engaged in grooming and recreational apparel shopping behavior. On the other hand, for South Korean men, recreational apparel shopping behavior was not influenced by their sex role attitude, or whether they considered themselves feminine or masculine. This means that recreational apparel shopping behavior is a gender-specific behavior in the U.S., but not in South Korea. The findings of this study indicated that culture has influence on consumers’approach to shopping and appearance. South Korean male consumers were more likely to acknowledge themselves as being feminine, enjoy apparel shopping and grooming compared to American male consumers.
