Teeth have many characteristics compared to any other part of human body for the individual identification and strong resistance against external environment. So teeth is the major informant of dental identification in mass disasters. A dental inspector who accomplish dental identification should carefully observe the characteristics of teeth such as missing tooth, impacted tooth, supernumerary tooth, anatomical abnormality, dental caries, residual root rest, servre attrition, cervical abrasion, distinction of primary and permanent tooth, filling material, type and cavity, material and type of prosthesis, orthodontic appliance and information of dentition. There are enormous forensic odontological data of the victims in mass disasters. Such data has to be collected, selected and compared systematically antemortem and postmortem data of the victims by using computer and dental identification software. Using this kind of method, it is highly expected that dental identification can be more efficient than any other forensic identification.
Monte Carlo Computer Simulation에 의한 Neutron Guide의 분석

Monte Carlo 컴퓨터 시물레이션에 의하여 곡율반경이 주어진 중성자 가이드가 1차원에서 분석되었다. 선택된 가이드는 폭 4.5 mm 높이 50 mm의 단면적과 300 m의 곡율반경을 갖는 소형 가이드이다. 4 Å의 단색, 등방성 중성자원에 의하여 가이드의 입구가 조사되었을 때 가이드의 출구에서 가이드를 통과한 중성자들의 각 및 위치분포가 결정되었다. 또한 transmission 효율, transmitted intensity 및 평균반사 횟수등이 중성자 파장의 함수로 계산되었다. Monte Carlo computer simulation mathod was used to analyze the properties of a one-dimensional curved guide. A simulation code tracing the behavior of neutrons within neutron guide systems was delveloped by authors for determining the transmission characteristics of the curved-neutron gudes. Spatial and angular distributions of the neutrons transmitted along a neutron guide was calculated for a 4 Å mono-energetic isotropic neutron source, neglecting imperfect reflectivity. Transmission efficiency, transmission intensity, and average number of reflections were also calculated as a function of wavelength.

Individual identification of severely decomposed or skeletonized bodies is an important part in medicolegal field. 142 bodies were torn up and carried away by flood in a park cemetry, Kwang-Ju, Kyunggi province, Korea at Sept., 10, 1990. The authors examed the 56 bodies, which were gained, through medical, anthropological, odontological, radiological methods, and superimposition for individual identification. Among them, 41 cases were successfully identified, and remaining 15 cases were not identified because of sever destruction and no adequate information.
n-CdS_(0.46)Se_(0.54)/p-Cu_92-x)S_(0.46)Se_(0.54) 이종접합 태양전지의 제작과 그 특성에 관한 연구

승화방법에 의해 CdS_0.46Se_0.54 단결정을 성장하여 결정구조를 조사하고, Van der Pauw 방법으로 Hall effect를 측정하여 carrier density의 온도 의존성과 mobility의 온도 의존성을 조사하였다. 성장된 CdS_0.46Se_0.54 단결정을 치환반응하여 n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 이종접합 태양전지를 제작하였다. Spectral response, 전류-전압특성 및 전력변환 효율을 조사하여 그 결과로부터 개방전압은 0.48V, 단락 전류 밀도는 21mA/㎠, fill factor와 전력변환효율은 각각 0.75와 9.5%를 얻었다. CdS_0.46Se_0.54 single crystal was grown by a sublimation method. The crystal structure and the temperature dependence of carrier density and mobility of CdS_0.46Se_0.54 single crystal were studied. Heterojunction solar cells on n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 were fabricated by the substitution reaction. The spectral response, the J-U characteristics and the conversion efficiency of the n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 heterojunction solar cells were studied. The open-cricuit voltage, short-circuit density, fill factor and conversion efficiency of n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 heterojunction solar cells under 80mW/㎠ illumination were found to be 0.48V, 21mA/㎠, 0.75 and 9.5%, respectively.

Pulmonary arterial sling, a rare developmental vascular anomaly forms a sling around the distal trachea and the proximal right main bronchus, where it sometimes makes tracheo-bronchial stenosis. Tracheo-bronchial stenosis from pulmonary arterial sling may produce non-specific symptoms of stridor, noisy breathing, dyspnea, recurrent upper respiratory tract infection, chronic cough, and dysphagia. The diagnosis of this anomaly begins with a high index of suspicion because of the lack of pathognomonic finding on usual evaluation. In this case, initial difficult intubation makes us evaluate further. Other cases reported the diagnosis is established by imaging studies, usually MRI and angiography. But, when our case was evaluated, we used cervico-thoracic enhanced computered tomography and tracheal fluoroscopy. Up to now, tracheobronchial stenosis from vascular anomaly is a rare and challenging disorder with a poor prognosis. However, early exact diagnosis would make us perform the accurate surgical treatment and reduce the mortality and morbidity.

Individual identification is an important part in medicolegal field especially in mass disaster. At July, 27, 1989, KAL KE-803 was crashed on landing at Tripoli International Airport, Liba. The plane was caught in fire and sixty eight Koreans were sacrified. The majority of victims were severely charred and injured. The authors examed all dead bodies and successfully identified all the cases through visual, anthropological, odontological, radiological and pathological methods including fingerprint and blood typing.
Usefulness of a Vascular Clipping System to Create an Arteriovenous Fistula

Purpose: The vascular clipping system (VCS) is beneficial as it is simple and easy to apply formicrovascular suturing. Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) creation is a very basic standard technique ofmicrovascular surgery. In this study the VCS and the conventional suture methods were compared ina rabbit model using the carotid artery and vein to create an AVF. Methods: There were 28 rabbits assigned equally into 2 groups using the AVF creation method(conventional suturing or the VCS procedure). Histopathology was performed on fixed samples. Theprocedure time of the 2 methods and changes in histopathology of tissue samples after surgery werecompared. Results: The VCS procedure showed a lower degree of fibrosis and hyperplasia histologicallycompared with the conventional suture method. The VCS was quicker to perform and no significantanastomosis stricture was observed. Conclusion: In a rabbit model of AVF, the VCS has benefits over the conventional suture method. The VCS provides comparable patency rates, produces fewer side effects such as fibrosis andhyperplasia, and takes less operation time than suturing. The VCS is expected to be useful for caseswhere renal patients need periodic hemodialysis and thus repetitive access to a vessel.
