        한의사의 전침사용 임상실태 조사보고

        Objectives : This study was conducted to investigate status of electroacupuncture(EA) stimulation and adverse effects as a basic information of EA clinical treatment. Methods : The survey was carried twice by e-mail and online service against the traditional Korean medicine doctors registered in the Association of Korea Oriental Medicine. Results : Seventy-eight percent of 284 responders used the EA. The EA was the most widely used for the stimulation of the meridian-muscle on musculo-skeletal pain. In terms of methodological procedure, doctors mainly apply acupuncture with the needle of 2 or 3 pairs of 0.25mm diameter to the depth of 10-50mm for 15 minutes. Respondents used mainly at the frequency of 10Hz and the automatic setting at the intensity of around 3-4 grade. The adverse effects were investigated less then 3% in the 45.9% respondents and non in the 40.5%. The most priority content for better EA treatment was “development of the effective stimulation program”. Conclusion : In the result of survey, the frequency of practical use of EA was very high but the applied disease was concentrated in the pain. Hereafter, if the clinical study for safety and effectiveness is secured and more convenient EA tool is developed, the clinical application of the EA is likely to be more expanded.

        Transcript Profiling of Native Korean Grapevine Species Vitis flexuosa Exposed to Dehydration and Rehydration Treatment

        Vitis flexuosa, a native Korean wild grapevine species, is more tolerant to abiotic stress than cultivatedgrapevines, but little is known about the mechanism underlying this tolerance. To better characterize the responses ofV. flexuosa to drought stress and subsequent rehydration, we treated V. flexuosathe plants with four stress conditions:short- and long-term dehydration, rehydration immediately after long-term drought, and long-term rehydration afterlong-term drought. We examined gene expression profiles in response to these treatments using whole-genomemicroarray analysis at 12X coverage (using the NimbleGen protocol). We identified a 5,964 genes that were differentiallyexpressed between the stress treatments and the well-watered control. Gene ontology analysis showed that most ofthe differentially expressed genes (DEGs), regardless of treatment, participate in the metabolism of proteins or phosphatecontainingcompounds and function in the binding of metal ions, as kinases, or as phosphotransferases. Kyoto Encyclopediaof Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis revealed that genes involved in secondary metabolite biosynthesiswere downregulated during dehydration but upregulated during rehydration. Among the DEGs encoding transcriptionfactors, genes in the MYB family were the most common differentially genes in all treatment groups. The NAC familywas the second most common group during dehydration, while the AP2/ERF family was the second most commonduring rehydration. These results will help elucidate the mechanisms underlying the response of V. flexuosa todrought stress and will be valuable for breeding drought-tolerant grapevines.

        Genome sequence analysis of potential probiotic strain Leuconostoc lactis EFEL005 isolated from kimchi

        Leuconostoc lactis EFEL005 (KACC 91922) isolated from kimchi showed promising probiotic attributes; resistance against acid and bile salts, absence of transferable genes for antibiotic resistance, broad utilization of prebiotics, and no hemolytic activity. To expand our understanding of the species, we generated a draft genome sequence of the strain and analyzed its genomic features related to the aforementioned probiotic properties. Genome assembly resulted in 35 contigs, and the draft genome has 1,688,202 base pairs (bp) with a G+C content of 43.43%, containing 1,644 protein-coding genes and 50 RNA genes. The average nucleotide identity analysis showed high homology (≥ 96%) to the type strain L. lactis KCTC3528, but low homology (≤ 95%) to L. lactis KCTC3773 (formerly L. argentinum). Genomic analysis revealed the presence of various genes for sucrose metabolism (glucansucrases, invertases, sucrose phosphorylases, and mannitol dehydrogenase), acid tolerance (F1F0 ATPases, cation transport ATPase, branched-chain amino acid permease, and lysine decarboxylase), vancomycin response regulator, and antibacterial peptide (Lactacin F). No gene for production of biogenic amines (histamine and tyramine) was found. This report will facilitate the understanding of probiotic properties of this strain as a starter for fermented foods.

        Isolation and Characterization of Biogenic Amine-Producing Bacteria in Fermented Soybean Pastes

        Biogenic amines (BAs) are produced primarily by microorganisms found in fermented foods and are often implicated in food poisoning. BA-producing bacteria found in fermented soybean pastes were isolated and characterized using a decarboxylating medium and multiplex PCR analysis. Two BA-producing bacteria were isolated from traditional soybean pastes: one was a histamine-producing Clostridium strain, and the other was a tyramine-producing Pseudomonas strain. The Clostridium strain was determined to be a potent histamine producer among the cultures tested. Synthesis of tyramine by Pseudomonas sp. T1 was observed for the first time in this study.

        This article corrects: Application of in vitro gut fermentation models on food components: a review (Food Sci. Biotechnol. 25: 1–7(2016)). The article entitled ‘‘Application of in vitro gut fermentation models on food components: a review’’ by Jin Seok Moon, Ling Li, Jeongsu Bang, and Nam Soo Han (Moon et al., 2016) was found to contain portions of unattributed or inadequately attributed parts from previously published articles (Payne et al., 2012; McDonald, 2013). These portions were found in Figs. 1 and 3 and Table 1. The KoSFOST Scientific Journal editorial office investigated this matter when an uncited author alerted us to the problem, after the article was published. The data and analyses in the article were found to be original: the errors in attribution were found to be an honest mistake on the part of the authors during early background collection and writing.

        전과정평가기법에 의한 도로건설공사 환경부하량 평가 연구

        최근의 국제사회는 경제성장에 따른 기상이변을 방지하고자 이산화탄소, 온실가스 등의 환경 오염물질 배출 저감을 요구하고 있다. 이러한 요구사항에 따라 에너지 다소비 산업 가운데 도로건설에 대한 효율적인 환경오염물질 배출 저감 방안이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 전과정 영향평가의 절차에 적합한 도로건설공사 환경영향평가 프로세스를 제시하고, 이를 바탕으로 다수의 도로건설공사에 대하여 주요 건설자재의 환경부하량을 분석한 후, 1km 도로건설공사에서 발생하는 평균 환경부하량을 제시하고 있다. 주요자재수량에 대해서는 환경부하량에 대한 민감도 분석을 실시하였으며, 이러한 분석결과는 도로건설공사의 공법 및 자재별 수량 변화에 따른 전과정 환경영향평가에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. The global community demands the reduction of environmental pollution such as greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions. According to these requirements, the road construction project in the highest energy consuming industry is required the efficient way of reducing environmental pollution emissions. In this study, during the whole life cycle process, an environment impact assessment was performed for the several road construction projects in order to evaluate environmental stress through the road construction process. This study provides a proper process of environment impact assessment for life cycle assessment (LCA) analysis of road construction project, and figures the environmental stress regarding to the major construction materials for the case projects. In addition, this study conducted a sensitivity analysis for the key materials of environmental stress through the quantity analysis of major materials for the 1km section of a road construction. By this sensitivity analysis of total environmental stress change from the different volumes of constructing materials, it would be useful information for the environment impact assessment for the future road construction project.

        Analysis of Biogenic Amines in Fermented Fish Products Consumed in Korea

        The aim of this study was to investigate the biogenic amine (BA) contents of fermented fish foods in Korea. A total of 47 samples of anchovy and sand lance sauces and squid, clam, and shrimp pastes were used for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The histamine and tyramine contents of the anchovy and sand lance sauces were significantly high. The average histamine contents of all tested samples were >300 mg/kg and the histamine contents were higher in the sauce (aekjeot) samples than in the paste (jeotgal) samples. This result strongly suggests careful monitoring of BA contents in these products is necessary to ensure consumer health.

        Isolation and Characterization of Histamine-Producing Bacteria from Fermented Fish Products

        Histamine is mainly produced by microorganisms that are found in fermented foods, and is frequently involved in food poisoning. Two histamine-producing bacteria were isolated from fermented fish products, anchovy sauce, and sand lance sauce by using a histidine decarboxylating medium. The species were identified as Bacillus licheniformis A7 and B. coagulans SL5. Multiplex PCR analysis showed the presence of the conserved histidine decarboxylase (hdc) gene in the chromosome of these bacteria. B. licheniformis A7 and B. coagulans SL5 produced the maximum amount of histamine (22.3±3.5 and 15.1±1.5 mg/L, respectively). As such, they were determined to be potential histamine-producing bacteria among the tested cultures.

        In a field of oriental medicine, it is necessary to collect systemically clinical data and integrate. Input data items was decided, then categorized by the modules through discussion of the institute and hospitals. Items are information of patient, history, aspects of occurrence, pattern identification, prescriptions of herbal medicine, the results of biochemical serum examination, blood cell count, urine analysis, CT, MRI, Chest PA, EKG etc. Factors in oriental medicine are Sasang constitution, Stroke-Pattern-Identification(china), differentiation of cold and heat syndrome. This tool was constructed by using Microsoft-Access 2000 and Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. Furthermore this web-based system could be applied to multi-center clinical investigation.
