Tattooing is a performance for decorative and cosmetic marking by placing permanent ink into the skin. As the cultural meaning of tattoo in Korea is changing, the tattoo machines are widely spread n permanent cosmetic market. Though the use of the tattoo machine was increased, the evaluation standards of tattoo machine were not existed. Korea Food and Drug Association regulated the electrical and mechanical safety standards which were founded on the IEC 601-1 second edition. Also they regulated he biological safety standards which were derived from the ISO 10993 series, however, these general valuations of common medical device were insufficient for evaluating tattoo machine. We developed the standards of tattoo machine for safety and performance evaluation for tattoo machine by preliminary hazard analysis in ISO 14971. The evaluation criteria of tattoo machines are focused on the mechanical invasion. We suggested the additional evaluation items of the needle speed, length, vibration with general valuation criteria of common medical device. We anticipate that this research may be a primary stage to figure a standard regulation and evaluation for tattoo machine.

An extraction socket was preserved and reconstructed using an autogenous tooth bone graft powder and block in two patients. The grafted site was healed 3 to 3.5 months after surgery. Implant treatment was successfully completed.

This study investigated the microstructure, tensile strength, and high cycle fatigue properties of ADC12 aluminum alloys with different $Mg+Al_2Ca$ contents manufactured using die casting process. Microstructural observation identified the presence of ${\alpha}-Al$, eutectic Si, $Al_2Cu$, and Fe-intermetallic phases. The increase of $Mg+Al_2Ca$ content resulted in finer pore size and decreased pore distribution. Room temperature tensile strength tests were conducted at strain rate of $1{\times}10^{-3}/sec$. For 0.6%Mg ADC12, measured UTS, YS, and El were 305.2MPa, 157.0MPa, and 2.7%, respectively. For 0.8%Mg ADC12, measured UTS, YS, and El were 311.2 MPa, 159.4 MPa, and 2.4%, respectively. Therefore, 0.8% ADC12 alloy had higher strength and slightly decreased elongation compared to 0.6% Mg ADC12. High cycle fatigue tests revealed that 0.6% Mg ADC12 alloy had a fatigue limit of 150 MPa while 0.8% Mg ADC12 had a fatigue limit of 160MPa. It was confirmed that $Mg+Al_2Ca$ added ADC12 alloy achieved finer, spherical eutectic Si particles, and $Al_2Cu$ phases with greater mechanical and fatigue properties since size and distribution of pores and shrinkage cavities decreased as $Mg+Al_2Ca$ content increased.
바다-$IV/I^2R$: 고차원 이미지 색인 구조를 이용한 효율적인 내용 기반 이미지 검색 시스템의 설계와 구현

A variety of multimedia applications require multimedia database management systems to manage multimedia data, such as text, image, and video, as well as t support content-based image or video retrieval. In this paper we design and implement a content-based image retrieval system, BADA-IV/I$^2$R(Image Information Retrieval), which is developed based on BADA-IV multimedia database management system. In this system image databases can be efficiently constructed and retrieved with the visual features, such as color, shape, and texture, of image. we extend SQL statements to define image query based on both annotations and visual features of image together. A high-dimensional index structure, called CIR-tree, is also employed in the system to provide an efficient access method to image databases. We show that BADA-IV/I$^2$R provides a flexible way to define query for image retrieval and retrieves image data fast and effectively: the effectiveness and performance of image retrieval are shown by BEP(Bull's Eye Performance) that is used to measure the retrieval effectiveness in MPEG-7 and comparing the performance of CIR-tree with those of X-tree and TV-tree, respectively.
고혈압(高血壓)의 원인(原因)에 관한 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察)

xWe studied about the causes of hypertension in the occidental and oriental medical records and the results are as follows. 1. The causes of hypertension in oriental medicine can be divided into wind, fire, phlegm and deficiency of Qi in our body, and broadly into three categories as emotions in excess, improper diet and damages of endogenous etiological factors. 2. Hypertension is the disease of undermining of fundamental aspects while prevailing incidental aspects and liver, heart and kidneys are the organs mainly related to hypertension. 3. The main pathological factors of hypertension are as follows; the disorder of Yin and Yang makes the situation of the deficiency of the vital essence of kidneys and the exuberance of the vital essence of liver and they are the fundamentals to be taken hypertension and finally make the state of the deficiency of both Yin and Yang. 4. In the point of occidental medical view, the essential hypertension is a disease of unknown etiology and we think it occurs not on the only one factor but on the various factors and secondary hypertension occurs from the diseases of the substances and the vessels of kidneys.

숫자를 헤아리는 방법은 민족마다 또 문화권에 따라 서로 다르다. 서양에는 피코, 마이크로, 밀리, 윈, 헌드레드, 밀리언 등이 있고 동양에서는 일, 십, 백, 천, 억, 조, 경 등을 기본적인 숫자의 단위로 쓰고 있다. '불가사의', '무량대수' 등도 숫자의 단위이며 소수점 이하는 푼, 리를 비롯해 '순식', '찰나' 등 다양하다. 우리가 흔히 쓰는 '순식'은 숨을 한번 쉬는 3초를, 그리고 불교에서의 '일겁'은 우주의 일생을 일컫는다. 이렇듯 흥미롭고 신비로운 숫자의 세계를 풀어본다.
소속명탕(小續命湯)이 백서(白鼠)의 국소뇌혈류량(局所腦血流量)과 혈압(血壓)에 미치는 영향(影響)

SosokMyeongTang(SMT) have been used in oriental medicine for many centuries as a therapeutic agent for cerebral disease. The effects of SMT on the vascular system is not known. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of SMT on the changes in blood pressure(BP) and regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF) of rats. SMT consists of the following components : Radix Ledebouriellae(防風), Radix Cocculi or Stephaniae(防己), Semen Armeniacae(杏仁), Cortex Cinnamomi(肉桂), Radix Scutellariae(黃芩), Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae(白芍藥), Radix Ginseng(人蔘), Rhizoma Cnidll(川芎), Herba Ephedrae(麻黃), Radix Glycyrrhizae(甘草), Radix Aconiti(附子?), Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae(大棗), Rhizoma Zingiberis(生薑) and the changes of BP and rCBF were tested Leser-Doppler Flowmetry(LDF) The experimental results were as follows ; BP was not affected by SMT in rats, but rCBF was increased significantly by SMT in a dose dependent manner. SMT increased previous decreasd rCBF due to pretreatment methylene blue, but did not increased previous decreasd rCBF due to pretreatment L-NNA, indomethacin. Pretreatment with indomethacin decreased BP compaired with control group. These results suggest that SMT causes a diverse response of blood pressure and regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF). The increased rCBF is mediated by nitric oxide synthease.
백서에서 수종의 골대체재료 매식후 치유과정에 관한 실험적 연구

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the tissue response in applying of various bone substitutes included toothash-plaster mixture, resorbable hydroxylapatite (HA) and demineralized freeze-dried bone and to show the clinical usefulness of toothash-plaster mixture for the repair of craniomaxillofacial bone defect. For this experiment, 100 Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200gm or more were used. There were four experimental groups: group I, toothash-plaster mixture; group II, demineralized freeze-dried bone; group III, resorbable HA; and group IV, control group. A full thickness, round bone defect measuring 10mm in diameter was created in the midcranium, and the substitutes cited above were embedded in the experimental rats based on their group assignment. Blood clot was filled in the rats assigned to the control group. Experimental rats were sacrificed on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 12th and 24th week after implantation and stained with the hematoxylineosin, Masson's Trichrome, using Van Gieson's stain method, and were examined under light microscope. The results were as follows: 1. In all the groups, prominent inflammatory reaction and the infiltration of multinucleated giant cells were noted during the early stage. Gradual healing decreased this reaction. 2. Among the rats in the experimental group II, which were given demineralized freeze-dried bone implants, active formation of new bone traveculae manifested. Chondroid tissues appeared, and it was suggested that the defect was filled with newly formed bone by virtue of osteoinductive activity. On the 12th week after the experiments, most of the defect was filled with newly formed bone trabeculae. 3. In experimental groups I and III, it was noted that HA manifested a healing process similar to that characterized by the toothash-plaster mixture, but inflammatory reaction was more prominent in experimental group I. Active osteoblasts were observed along the periphery of osteoid tissues, while newly formed bone trabeculae appeared adjacent to the implanted materials three weeks later. Formation increased to the extent that newly formed bone trabeculae fused directly with the host bone. Increase in new bone ingrowth into the filling materials was revealed by both experimental groups. 4. In the control group, new bone formation adjacent to the host bone was observed, but most of the defect was filled with mature connective tissue 24 weeks after the experiments.
구척(狗脊)이 흰쥐의 후지체공(後肢滯空)에 의한 근강축(筋萎縮)에 미치는 영향(影響)

This experimental study was designed to investigate the effects of Cibotii Rhizoma on the muscle atrophy induced by hindlimb suspension in rats. The measurement has been performed on the activity of CK, aldolase, LDH, AST, ALT and quantity of creatine in serum of hindlimb suspension rats. The results were as ; 1. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the activity of CK in serum. 2. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the quantity of creatine in serum. 3. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the activity of aldolase in serum. 4. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the activity of LDH in serum. 5. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the activity of AST in serum. 6. Cibotii Rhizoma significantly inhibited the increase of the activity of ALT in serum.
