Background: The aim of this study was done to identify whether mass produced wild ginseng culture broth prepared from cultivated wild ginseng roots could have an application in enhancing the agricultural utility value of leafy vegetables. Methods and Results: Leafy vegetables Lactuca sativa and Brassica juncea were treated with wild ginseng culture broth. Plants were examined and treatment (100 ㎖) applied twice a week over an eight week period. Total phenolic and flavonoid content of treated plants was then measured. Wild ginseng culture broth treatment resulted in phenolic and flavonoid content of 0.40 ㎎·GAE/㎖ and 0.36 ㎎·QE/㎖, respectively in L. sativa. When treated with wild ginseng culture broth, free radical scavenging ability was found to be higher in both L. sativa and B. juncea whereas antimicrobial activity was found to be higher in B. juncea (625 ㎍/㎖) than in L. sativa. Inorganic element analysis of L. sativa and B. juncea showed that Ca and Mg were higher in the wild ginseng broth treatment group, whereas harmful elements such as As were reduced. Conclusions: Rather than discarding the wild ginseng culture broth, it can be used as a fresh biomaterial by reprocessing it as agricultural products that can promote growth and improve functionality in plants.

Magnetic-field-resilient superconducting coplanar waveguide (SCPW) resonators are essential for developing integrated quantum circuits. Molybdenum–Rhenium (MoRe), which is a disordered superconducting alloy forming a highly transparent contact to the graphene and carbon nanotubes, would be a promising platform for realizing the field-resilient SCPW resonators combined with nano-hybrid quantum devices. We fabricated MoRe SCPW resonators and investigated their microwave transmission characteristics with varying temperature and external magnetic field. The thickness of MoRe film is a critical parameter determining the lower critical field, kinetic inductance, and characteristic impedance of the SCPW resonator, resulting in drastic changes in the quality factor and the resonance frequency. We obtained a maximum value of Qi > 104 in parallel magnetic fields up to B|| = 0.15 T for the 27-nm-thick MoRe resonator. Our observations suggest that the MoRe SCPW resonator would be useful for integrating nano-hybrid spin or gatemon qubits and for developing spin-ensemble quantum memory devices.

The Hydrallgea macrophylla var. thunbergii (HMT) was widely cultivated for use in the manufacture of health foods such as tea, called Gamro-tea. In this study, HMT extract was fermented by using Weissella koreensis strain (WK), which was isolated from kimchi. Physico-chemical changes were monitored such as total acidity, reducing sugar and total phenolic content (TPC) during fermentation process. TEAC and ORAC assay were carried out to compare the antioxidant activity of hot water extract of HMT and fermented HMT extract. WK showed typical growth pattern on HMT extract medium at 35°C. Lag phase of WK last 6hr followed by the start of log phase at 8hr. Maximum growth was achieved at 24 hr. Total acidity increased linearly until the fermentation time of 18 hr and reducing sugar content was decreased from 2.88% to 2.06% at 24 hr fermentation. TPC was increased at fermentation time until 72 hr. Antioxidant activity was measured with TEAC assay and ORAC assay using 72 hr fermented HMT extract. TEAC evaluated electron transfer reaction and ORAC evaluated hydrogen atom transfer reaction. WK fermentation improved TEAC and ORAC value of HMT extract significantly.

This study focused on the fact that changes of policies have influence on housing culture of Korea and analyzed changes in apartment houses planning since the deregulation of the price ceiling through newspaper advertisement. The research compared and analyzed advertisements of apartment houses sales appeared in the 'Gwangju Il-Bo' daily newspaper from 1990 to 2003 by planning factors. : The results are as follows. Reliability and economy were important factors in deciding apartment before the deregulation of the price ceiling policy, but as apartment houses were merchandised after the deregulation of the price ceiling policy, brand of enterprise and image of apartment houses were highlighted more. In the environment of apartment complex, the concerns of location after the deregulation of the price ceiling policy were more increased than before its policy and it means emphasis on living environment for better life. The apartment housing unit and building showed change of the apartment housing unit plan considering residents, high quality of interior design and high-tech and differentiation of equipment since the deregulation of the price ceiling policy. The ground space has been parked or afforested and the underground space is used for parking lot as a part of environment-friendly in the apartment complex planning. The deregulation of the price ceiling policy made brand, image, high-grade and differentiation, and got many changes in the planning side of the apartment sales advertisement.
Establishment of a Regeneration System by Callus Induction from Explants of Miscanthus sinensis

Immature inflorescence sections of greenhouse-grown Miscanthus sinensis plants and collected seeds were cultivated on Murashige and Skoog medium containing benzyladeninepurine (BAP) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid or BAP and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). From immature inflorescence sections, the rate of callus induction depended on the collection area of the cultivar. The percentage shoot regeneration through embryogenic callus was increased and a new shootforming type was formed after inclusion of BAP during shoot regeneration. A higher percentage of shoot regeneration was achieved from immature inflorescence sections cultured with 5 mg L(-1) BAP and 0.24 mg( L-1) NAA. Plants from callus induction were regenerated from embryogenic callus, but regeneration capacity differed depending on cultivar collection area.
