A comparative study for physical properties of chucheongbyeo grown in Icheon and other area such as Suwon, Iri and Milyang, was made by T-test. The results are as follows. 1.In weight, shape and length of rice grains as paddy, brown rice and milled rice, Icheon rice was significantly(p<0.05) longer other rices. 2.Physical properties : No significant difference was observed in milling, whiteness and color differences. No significant difference was observed in Alkali digestibilitiy and Anylogram. In Gel consistency, Icheon rice tended to be higher in gel flow than Suwon and Milyang rice but lower than Iri rice.
산지에 따른 쌀의 화학적 특성 및 취반특성에 관한 연구

This study was performed to compare the chemical properties and cooking qualities of Chucheongbyeo grown in Icheon and other areas such as Suwon, Iri and Milyang. 1.Chemical properties No significant difference was observed in protein and fat contents. Tyrosine content was significantly lower(P<0.01) in Icheon rice. The contents of stearic acid(P<0.05) and Linoleic acid(P<0.01) were significantly higher but the ratio of oleic to linoleic acid was lower(P<0.05) in Icheon rice, Mineral and Amylose contents were not significantly different. 2.Cooking qualities There was no significant difference in water uptake, pH, iodine intensity and soluble solids of residual liquid of 30 minutes-cooked rice. Icheon rice showed lower expanded volume(P< 0.05) of cooked rice. Physical properties of cooked rice such as hardness, cohesiveness, stickiness and the ratio of hardness to stickiness showed no significant difference.
Production of Human TPA Transgenic Pigs by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer

Tissue-type plasminogen activator, a protein used to treat heart attacks, converts plasminogen into plasmine, which digests fibrin and induces the dissolution of fibrin clots. The purpose of this study was to produce a tPA transgenic pig by somatic cell nuclear transfer. The human tPA (htPA) genes were transfected into porcine ear fibroblast cells derived from a female piglet and established two transgenic cell lines (Tg) with normal karyotypes. Tg line #3 and #4, which expressed high levels of the transgenes. Blastocyst rates of SCNT embryos derived from Tg lines were significantly lower than those of Non-Tg. A total of 2799 SCNT embryos were transferred to 9 surrogates. Seven offspring were delivered, and the production efficiency was 1.0~1.3% (3/324 and 4/304). All offspring exhibited htPA genes. These piglets revealed by microsatellite testing to be genetically identical to Tg cell lines, but not to the surrogate. Our goal is to establish a htPA transgenic pig for studying biopharmaceutical production.
초등학생 아동의 스트레스와 우울의 5년에 걸친 발달적 변화

This study examined the developmental trajectories of perceived level of stress and depression in Korean youth using longitudinal data from the Korean Youth Panel Study (KYPS) of 2,844youth (1,524 boys) across 4th grade through 8th grade. Latent growth modeling indicated the presence of age-related, significant increases in stress and depression for both boys and girls. Girls experienced greater in stress and depression than did boys. Multiple group analysis indicated that there was no significant sex difference in effects of stress on depression. Overall, increases in stress were associated with increases in depression levels for both boys and girls. Conceptual and clinical implications of the findings were discussed.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the usefullness of cocopeat as a soil medium in blueberry cultivation. Two-year-old northern highbush blueberry ‘Duke’ and southern highbush blueberry ‘Spring High’ were planted in soil medium mixed with peatmoss (soil:peatmoss (v/v), 1:1) or cocopeat (soil:cocopeat (v/v), 1:1) in open fields in 2019. Soil pH measured in 2020 and 2021 ranged from 4.2 to 5.0 in peatmoss and 5.2 to 5.8 in cocopeat medium, indicating peatmoss has more suitable pH for blueberry growth. Two years soil analyses indicated that peatmoss medium tended to contain a higher available P2O5 content and lower exchangeable cations compared with those of cocopeat. In 2021, peatmoss medium significantly increased the number of shoots per bush, by 16% for ‘Duke’ and 92% for ‘Spring High’ compared with the cocopeat. Bushes from peatmoss medium produced yield 1.9- to 2.7-fold higher for two years in ‘Duke’ and 1.4- to 1.8-fold higher in ‘Spring High’ compared with respective yields from cocopeat. Fruit characteristics for two years were not consistently affected by different soil media, except that the acidity was slightly higher in peatmoss. The results suggested that since the better bush growth from peatmoss medium resulted mainly from lower soil pH, the use of cocopeat as a soil medium should be followed by pH adjustment.
