<P>Decursin, a coumarin compound, was originally isolated from the roots of Angelica gigas almost four decades ago, and it was found to exhibit cytotoxicity against various types of human cancer cells and anti-amnesic activity in vivo through the inhibition of AChE activity. However, the anti-skin photoaging effects of decursin have not been reported to date. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of decursin on the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 and MMP-3 in human dermal fibroblast (HDF) cells. Western blot analysis and real-time PCR revealed that decursin inhibited the ultraviolet (UV)B-induced expression of MMP-1 and MMP-3 in a dose-dependent manner. Decursin significantly blocked the UVB-induced activation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). However, decursin showed no effect on MAPK or AP-1 activity. In this study, decursin prevented the UVB-induced expression of MMPs via the inhibition of NF-κB activation. In conclusion, decursin may be a potential agent for the prevention and treatment of skin photoaging.</P>
개복 수술로 확인된 외상성 췌장 손상 환자에 대한 임상적 고찰

Purpose: Althoughpancreas injury is rare in abdominal trauma,it posesa challengeto the surgeon because its clinicalfeaturesare not prominentand the presence of main duct injurycannot be easily identified by imaging studies. Furthermore, severe pancreas injuries require a distal pancreatectomy or a pancreaticoduodnectomy which are associated considerable morbidity and mortality. We reviewed the clinical features of and outcomes for patients with pancreas injury. Methods: For 10 years from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2010, thirty-four patients were diagnosedas having pancreas injury by using an explo-laparotomy. Patients successfully treated bynon-operative management were excluded. Patients were divided into early (n=18) and delayed surgery groups (n=11) based on an interval of 24hours between injury and surgery. The clinical features of and the outcomes for the patients in both groups were compared. Results: Males were more commonly injured (82.4% vs.17.6%). The mean age was 37.2 years. The injury mechanisms included vehicle accidents (62.9%, 22/34), assaults (20%, 7/34), and falls (11.4%, 3/34)). The head and neck of the pancreas was most commonly injured, followed by the body and the tail (16, 12, and 6 cases). Of the 34 patients, 26 (76.5%) patients had accompanying injuries. Grade 1 and 2 occurred in 14 (5 and 9) patients, and grade 3, 4, and 5 occurred in 20 (16, 3, and 1) patients. The early and delayed surgery groups showed no difference in surgical outcomes. Two patients with grade 3 in the early surgery group died after surgery,one due tomassive hemorrhage and the other due to septic shock. Of the five patients initially managed non-operatively,three developed peripancreatic necrosis and two developed pseudocyst. All five patients were successfully cured by surgery. Conclusion: All cases of pancreas injury in this study involved blunt injury, and accompanying injury to major vessels or the bowel was the major cause of mortality. Surgery delayed for longer than 24 hours after was not associated with adverseoutcomes.

This study was to explore the relationship among the career planning, protean career attitude and subjective career success in administrative staffs of Taekwondo institution. The survey was conducted on the administrative staffs of the Taekwondo institution(Kukkiwon, Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, Korea Taekwondo Association, World Taekwondo Federation). Except for twenty six questionnaires, final 214 out of 240 ones was statistically managed and SPSS 21.0 and LISREL 8.80 were used for statistical analysis. The result of this research was as follows. First, the career planning of the Taekwondo institution’ staffs are significant to protean career attitude of the administrative staffs. Second, the career planning of the Taekwondo institution’ staffs are significant to subjective career success of administrative staffs. Third, the protean career attitude of the Taekwondo institution’ staffs are significant to subjective career success of administrative staffs.

This study was conducted to investigate the soil characteristics of newly reclaimed tidal land and the effect of green manure crops on soil properties. Summer green manure crops such as sesbania (Sesbania grandiflora), barnyard grass (Echinochloa spp.) and sorghum×sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor L.) were cultivated at Hwaong, Ewon, Saemangeum and Yongsangang area. Soil pH of reclaimed tidal land was relatively high, but organic matter and available phosphorus contents were lower compared to the optimum range for common upland crops. Soil nutrient contents were unbalanced for upland crop growth. Yield of green manure crops had a wide spatial variation. Nitrogen content in green manure crops was the greater in Sesbania and it was estimated that major nutrient (N-P₂O5-K₂O) supply amount were 150-40-370, 220-50-170 and 140-50-250 kg ha<SUP>-1</SUP> from sorghum×sudangrass hybrid, sesbania and barnyard grass, respectively. Based on these results, desalination is required to grow the upland crops at newly reclaimed tidal lands and management practices are necessary to reduce the salt damage by resalinization during the growing seasons. To improve the productivity and increase the nutrient utilization rate, soil physicochemical properties need to be improved to the level for upland crops by application of organic matter and fertilizer.

We evaluated whether group locomotor imagery training-combined knowledge of performance (KP) lead to improvements in gait function in community dwelling individuals with chronic stroke. Ten adults who had suffered a hemiparetic stroke at least 6 months earlier participated in group locomotor imagery training-combined KP for 5 weeks, twice per week, with 2 h intensive training. Dynamic gait index scores increased significantly after the group locomotor imagery training-combined KP. However, times for the timed up-and-go test did not improve significantly after the training. Group locomotor imagery training-combined KP may be a useful option for the relearning of gait performance for community dwelling individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke.
