Recent epidemiologic studies clearly showed that early intensive glucose control has a legacy effect for preventing diabetic macrovascular complications. However, the cellular and molecular processes by which high glucose leads to macrovascular complications are poorly understood. Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) dysfunction due to high glucose is a characteristic of diabetic vascular complications. Activation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) may play a key role in the regulation of inflammation and proliferation of VSMCs. We examined whether VSMC proliferation and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) expression induced by high glucose were mediated by NF-κB activation. Also, we determined whether selective inhibition of NF-κB would inhibit proliferation and PAI-1 expression in VSMCs. VSMCs of the aorta of male SD rats were treated with various concentrations of glucose (5.6,11.1, 16.7, and 22.2 mM) with or without an inhibitor of NF-κB or expression of a recombinant adenovirus vector encoding an IκB-α mutant (Ad-IκBαM). VSMC proliferation was examined using an MTT assay. PAI-1 expression was assayed by real-time PCR and PAI-1 protein in the media was measured by ELISA. NF-κB activation was determined by immunohistochemical staining, NF-κB reporter assay, and immunoblotting. We found that glucose stimulated VSMC proliferation and PAI-1 expression in a dose-dependent manner up to 22.2 mM. High glucose (22.2 mM) alone induced an increase in NF-κB activity. Treatment with inhibitors of NF-κB such as MG132, PDTC or expression of Ad-IκB-αM in VSMCs prevented VSMC proliferation and PAI-1 expression induced by high glucose. In conclusion,inhibition of NF-κB activity prevented high glucose-induced VSMC proliferation and PAI-1expression.

The selective cleavage of phenylsilane by triflic acid gives silyltriflates. The removal of phenyl groups in $Ph_3SiH$ and carbosilane polymer $(Ph_2SiCH_2CH_2CH_2)n$ with one to two equiv of triflic acid leads to formation of mono- and disubstituted silyltriflate ester bonds. Reaction with allylmagnesium bromide produces corresponding derivatives with good yields. An organosilane dendrimer with allylated carbosilane polymer has been synthesized up to G3 using repetitive allylation hydrosilylation cycles. 트리플산에 의한 phenylsilane 의 선태적 분해반응에서는 silyltriflate ester 결합을 형성하였다. 1 혹은 2당량배의 트리플산에 의한 $Ph_3SiH$과 carbosilane 고분자$(Ph_2SiCH_2CH_2CH_2)n$의 Ph기 치환반응에서는 1 혹은 2치환 silyltriflate ester 결합을 형성하였으며 이들과 allylmagnesium bromide와의 반응에 의해 이에 상응되는 화합물을 높은 수율로 얻었다. Carbosilane 고분자의 나무가지꼴 실란거대분자를 allylation 과 hydrosilation법에 의해 제3세대(G3)까지 합성하였다.
대학생 글쓰기 수업에서의 학습관리시스템 활용 사례 연구 -블랙보드(Blackboard)를 중심으로-

본 연구는 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 학습관리시스템 블랙보드(Blackboard)를 활용한 사례를 소개하고, 블랙보드를 활용한 대학 글쓰기 교육의 성과 및 함의를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존의 면대면 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 교수·학습 주체 간 상호 작용이 저조하며, 교수자가 학습자에게 피드백을 제공하는 것에 대한 부담을 갖고 있다. 이러한 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 갖는 문제점 과 한계를 보완하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 블랙보드를 활용한 블렌디드 러닝(Blended learning)을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 수업 전, 중, 후의 진행 맥락에 따라 블랙보드를 활용할 수 있는 사례를 제안하고, 글쓰기 수업에서 블랙보드를 활용한 성과 및 과제를 제시하였다. 연구 결과를 정리해 보면 블랙보드는 글쓰기 과정에서 교수·학습 주체의 상호작용 강화 측면과 피드백의 활성화를 통한 글쓰기 밀착 지도 측면에서 함의를 찾을 수 있었다. 또한 본 연구는 국내 대학에 미래지향적 학습관리시스템의 도입의 필요함을 시사하고, 소통 중심의 밀착 지도형 대학 글쓰기 교육을 강조하였다. The purpose of this essay was to introduce cases that Blackboard as a learning management system has been used for developing academic writing proficiency and to disclose educationally good results and significance of using Blackboard in college writing. Blackboard Learn platform has been used primarily for online or blended learning, supporting the placement of course materials online, associating students with courses, and mediating communication between the students as well as their instructor etc. in oder to enhance and support collaborative learning in classroom teaching. This essay also tried to establish a categorial model, "Before instruction" "In instruction", and "After instruction" to interrogate the actual condition and the cases when Blackboard was utilized for college writing. Results of this research were as follows. First, Blackboard carried out the effective function mediating communication between the students as well as their instructor in aspect of the developable management. Second, Blackboard could have implications for providing feedback in aspect of customer relationship management. Here was to study effective strategy to introduce LMS as future-oriented educational technology. A instructional design guideline was proposed for effective management of interactivity and communication in college writing.
Preparation and Polymerization of Alkenylsilanes

The silyltriflates$(Ph_{3-n}SiH(OTf)_n)$have been produced by the reaction of triphenylsilane and triflic acid$(CF_3SO_3H)$at low temperature. These highly reactive compounds are a valuable reagent for the synthesis of numerous new functional substituted silane derivatives. The reaction of silyltriflates with alkenyl- and alkynylmagnesium bromide as well as organolithium compounds gave new silanes$Ph_2SiHR(R=\;C(CPh,\;CH=CH_2,\;CH_2CH=CH_2,\; (CH_2)_2CH=CH_2,\;(CH_2)_3CH=CH_2)$in high yields. The hydrosilation of prepared alkenyl- and alkynylsilanesPh_2SiHR$in the presence of a platinum catalyst(Pt/C) at high temperature$(200{\circ}C)$gave carbosilane polymers$((Ph_2SiCH=CPh)_n$and$(Ph_2Si(CH_2)m)n;\;m=2∼4, n{\ge}10)$along with five- and six-membered silaalkane ring compounds derived from intramolecular hydrosilation reactions. All of the prepared compounds are confirmed by NMR, UV, IR and mass spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. 실릴트리플레이트$(Ph_{3-n}SiH(OTf)_n))$는 낮은 온도에서 트리펜일실란과 트리플산$(CF_3SO_3H)$의 반응에 의해 형성되며 이러한 화합물은 새로운 기능성 실란 유도체의 제조에 이용되고 있다. 실릴트리플레이트와 알캔일-, 알킨일마그네슘 브롬아이드 그리고 유기리티움 화합물과의 반응에 의해 새로운 실란 화합물 Ph_2SiHR(R=C{\equiv}(CPh,\;CH=CH_2,\;CH_2CH=CH_2,\;(CH_2)_2CH=CH_2,\;(CH_2)_3CH=CH_2)$을 높은 수율로 얻었다. 합성된 알켄일-, 알킨일실란은 백금촉매 하에서 카보실란 고분자$((Ph_2Si(CH_2)m)n;\;m=2∼4,\;n\le10)$5~6환고리 화합물을 형성하였다. 모든 생성물들은 NMR, UV, IR, 질량분석, 그리고 원소분석법에 의해 확인되었다.

천연 식품자원으로부터 Prolyl Endopeptidase의 저해 효과 탐색

우리나라가 고령화사회에서 고령사회로, 고령사회에서 초고령사회로 도달하는 시간이 각각 22년과 10년으로 추정되며 선진국에 비해 진입속도가 빠를 것으로 보고 있다. 고령화인구에 따라 일상생활은 물론 지역사회에서의 활동, 더 나아가서는 직업활동을 할 수 없는 기억장애현상인 노인성 치매가 더욱 문제시된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리나라에서 정신 건강 관련하여 이미 이용되고 있거나 민간에서 구두로 알려진 식품 총 100종을 선정하고, 메탄올 추출물에 대하여 prolyl endopeptidase에 대한 활성 저해율을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 40 ppm 농도에서 도토리가 96.0%로 가장 높은 활성 저해율을 보였고, 산딸기가 92.0%, 호두가 73.0%로 나타났으며, 그 외의 나머지 식품들은 56.1%인 녹차를 제외하고는 모두 50% 미만의 수준이었다. 본 연구결과 PEP에 비교적 특이적으로 작용하는 저해제로서 도토리와 산딸기를 확인할 수 있었고, 현재까지 개발되고 보고된 합성 peptide인 PEP저해제와는 달리 천연 식품이란 점에서, 앞으로 이 식품들이 항치매 예방 기작 구명에 유용하게 이용됨과 동시에 치매의 예방을 위한 기능성 식품으로서 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. This study was performed to find natural foods with high anti-dementia effects from natural plant resources which have been used for mental health. We screened inhibitors of prolyl endopeptidase which could be implicated in the processing of Alzheimer's disease, the principal part of dementia. One hundred natural foods were examined for prolyl endopeptidase inhibitors. Out of them, methanol extract of Acorns and Raspberry inhibited more than 90% of prolyl endopeptidase activity at 40 ppm. Also, methanol extract of Walnut inhibited 73% of prolyl endopeptidase activity at the same concentration. Therefore, the result suggests that these natural foods may have the potential to be used for preventing and treating dementia like Alzheimer disease.

Lymphocytic infundibuloneurohypophysitis was known as a cause of idiopathic central diabetes insipidus. Until recent time, it is characterized into two groups. One has thickening of the pitutitary stalk, enlargement of the neurohypophysis and loss of hyperintense signal of the normal neurohypophysis, the other has only loss of hyperintense signal but not morphological change. A 51-year-old man presented with a one month history of polydipsia and polyuria. The interpretation of water deprivation test was compatible with complete central diabetes insipidus. Endocrinologic examination of the adenohypophysis hormones and its triple stimulation test were normal apart from thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which showed low response despite thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH). Sellar MRI scan disclosed an loss of hyperintense singnal of normal neurohypophysis and about 10 mm-sized nodular mass lesion on neurohypophysis. However, thickness of the pituitary stalk was normal. Pathologic examination demonstrated diffuse infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells. No adenomas, menigitis, sarcoidosis or granulomas were present. We supposed that this case was an atypical type of lymphocytic infundibuloneurohypophysitis, which did not belong to any other part of two groups described above.(Korean J Med 61:168-172, 2001)
청소년의 체중조절관련 건강신념과 운동효능감 및 운동지속의도가 신체활동에 미치는 영향

This study sought to examine whether physical activity level is associated with health belief-related weight control, exercise self-efficacy, and exercise adherence intention in Korean adolescents. As participants in the survey, a total of 652 male and female participants were recruited from junior high schools in Seoul. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS Statistics program. The perceived benefit of health belief-related weight control was higher than other variables including perceived severity, barrier, and susceptibility in both genders. Female junior high school students were more susceptible to weight control behavior than male participants. In addition, the perceived benefit and barrier of weight control behavior were positively and negatively related to exercise adherence intention, respectively, in both male and female students. However, health belief was not correlated with physical activity level. These results indicate that positive health belief and weight control behavior may contribute to augmenting intrinsic motivation to exercise, but not genuinely increasing exercise participation. In contrast to health belief, the high level of exercise self-efficacy was found to be correlated with increases in exercise adherence intention and physical activity level. Therefore, education and guidance at home and in school are certainly required to establish desirable health belief and enhance exercise self-efficacy, which lead adolescents to maintain their healthy weight through regular physical activity.
