        Background and Objectives : The localization of platelet-derived growth factor-α receptor (PDGF-α R) was commonly restricted to oligodendrocyte progenitors during late embryonic and postnatal development. However, several studies recently demonstrated that mature neurons could also synthesize PDGF-α, Materials and Methods : In the present study, to analyze the distributional pattern of PDGF-αR during postnatal development of the canine cerebral cortex, we used immunohistochemistry on sections of canine brain tissue. Results : We found that neurons of various regions of cerebral cortex exhibited the immunoreactivity to PDGF-αR as early as postnatal day 0, and slightly decreased after postnatal day 14. Whereas neuronal PDGF-αR were maintained at all ages, the oligodendroglia-like expression of PDGF-αR could not be confirmed. Conclusion : The localization of PDGF-αR in immature and mature neurons supports the several roles of PDGF during development, protection and survival of neurons.

        딕카이트로부터 스멕타이트의 수열합성

        딕카이트[Al₂Si₂O_(5).(OH)₄]를 출발물질로 사용하여 이팔면체형 스멕타이트를 수열합성하였다. 시료를 활성화시키기 위해 Na₂O 성분을 첨가하고 800℃에서 4시간 열처리하였다. 합성실험을 Na-0.7 바이델라이트의 화학반응식에 의한 화학양론적 조성에 따라 SiO₂성분을 첨가하였으며 300℃, 70 ㎏f/㎠ 이하의 조건에서 온도, 압력, 시간 등을 변화시키면서 실험을 수행하였다. 합성실험을 위해 약 1리터 용량의 밀폐형 강철재 압력용기를 사용하였다. 스멕타이트를 합성할 수 있는 최적 조건은 반응온도 290℃, 반응시간 48시간, pH 10 및 60 ㎏f/㎠ 의 압력조건인 것으로 확인되었다. 온도, 압력조건 외에 원료물질의 활성화, 반응시간, 반응용액의 초기 pH 등은 결정도에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로 작용하였다. 합성결과물에 대한 X-선 회절분석, 에틸렌글리콜 처리, 'Greene-Kelly' 측정법 등의 실험결과, 합성된 스멕타이트는 Na-바이델라이트임이 확인되었다. A hydrothermal process was used to synthesize dioctahedral smectite from dickite [Al₂Si₂O_(5).(OH)₄]. Dickite was previously activated by heating at 800℃ for 4 hours with Na₂CO₃. After the heat-treatment, Sift was added for stoichiometrv. The autoclaving was carried out in closed stainless steel vessel (about 1 liter) at the condition of various temperature, pressure, time etc. High quality smectite could be obtaind by heating at 290℃ under the pressure of 60 ㎏f/㎠ for 48 hours. This experiment reveals that pH of the solution was an important factor and should be maintained at 10 to 11 for the formation of dioctahedral smectite. Be synthesized smectite was identified as Na-beidellite by the treatment of ethylene glycol and Greene-Kelly test.

      • 생쥐 위장관의 Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC)에 대한 면역조직화학적 연구

        Background and Objectives : Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC) are the pacemakers in gastrointestinal tract that modulates gastrointestinal motiliey and these cells also transmit neural input from enteric nerves to smooth muscles. Recent work on tissues from patients with motility disorders that suggest that loss or defect in ICC could be related to pathophysiology in human and animal models. Immunolabelling of ICC in intestinal wall is recently developed by using specific marker, anti-c-kit antibody. Immunohistochemistry was done for ICC network in attempt to provide a morphological basis for the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility Methods : Cryosection was done, and whole-mount preparations of mouse stomach, gastrointestinal tract were immunolabelled using the anti-c-Kit. Immunolabelled ICC networks were observed under a confocal laser scanning microscopy. Results : According to three dimensional reconstruction study, we found that the c-Kit-positive celluar networks were widely distributed in the gastrointestinal muscle (1) circular muscle layer(IC-IM), (2) myenteric plexus(IC-MY), (3) deep muscular plexus(IC-DMP) in ileum, (4) submucosal plexus(IC-SMP) and longitudinal muscle layer(IC-LM) in colon. Conclusion : The characteristic profiles of ICC celluar networks provide a morphological basis upon the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility. Additional studies for the enteric nerves-ICC interaction are need to evaluate the detailed roles of Icc in gastrointestinal tract.

      • 대전지역 남·녀 대학생의 체구성성분과 식습관, 영양섭취량에 대한 비교 연구

        This study was an investigation of nutrient intake, food habit and body composition of college students in Daejeon. A 21 male students and 20 female students healthy college students living in Daejeon were selected for the study. Weight, height were measured of on all participants and Body composition were measured by bioirnpedence. The 24-hour recall test and food habits were examined throught questionnaires. The average height, weight and BMI were 175.80±4.29㎝, 71.59±16.22kg, 23.10±4.71kg/㎡ for the male, 161.20±5.51㎝, 56.25 ±7.61㎏, 21.62±2.22㎏/㎡ for the female. The everage body compositions were intracellular fluid(27.31±4.04), extracellular fluid(13.16±2.02), total body fat(13.26±8.69㎏), body fat ratio(17.23±7.00%) for the male and intracellular(18.53±2.15), extracellular fluid(8.81±1.01), total body fat(16.68±4.17㎏), body fat ratio(29.28±4.18%) for the female. Intracellular fluid(ICF) and extracellular fluid(ECF) of male students were significantly heigher than female. The mean score of food habits were 62.10±4.12 for the male, 64.30±7.46 for the female, and not significant difference between male and female(p<0.05). The everage intakes of energy, vit. B₁, B₂, niacine, folic acid, Ca and Zn were below the RDA in male and the everagy intake of energy, vitamin A, B_z, C, folic acid, Ca, Fe and Zn were below th RDA in female. Among energy, calrorie nutrients, food habits, BFR of correlation were significantly correlation energy(p<0.05) and carbohydrate(p<0.01), and significantly correlation between energy and nutrients(p<0.05).

      • 홍화씨 분말 식이가 성장기에 있능 어린 흰쥐의 체내 칼슘 및 골격대사에 미치는 영향

        This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Korean safflower seed powder supplementation on calcium and bone metabolism in growing rats. Male sprague-Dawley rats of 50±2g of weight, were divided into four groups after arrival : the control group(CD group), and safflower seed powder groups(LSD, MSD, HSD groups). These groups were fed by each diets contained 6%, 10%, 14T% safflower seed powder, respectively. They were fed each experimental diets for 4 weeks, respectively. The results were summarized as follow : Food intake was not different among the groups. Body weight gain was higher weight in MSD and HSD groups than in control group or LSD group. The weight spleen was not significantly difference among the groups. But the weight of liver, kindey and epididymal fat had higher in safflower seed powder groups(LSD, MSD, HSD) than in control group(CD group). Serum alkaline phosphatase activity was higher in CD group than in safflower seed powder groups. Feces and urinary calcium excretion decreased as the amount of contained safflower powder. Bone calcium was higher in safflower seed powder groups than in CD group. Serum calcium was significantly lower in CD group than in safflower seed powder groups. The results of this study suggest that safflower seed powder affect in calcium and bone metabolism in growing rats fed normal Ca by in creasing Ca retention.

        Selective Reduction of Carbonyl Group with Borohydride Exchang Resin (BER)-LiCl System

        The reduction rate of borohydride exchange resin (BER) was greatly enhanced in the presence of lithium salts. Thus 2-heptanone was reduced completely with BER-LiCl in 1 h at room temperature. However, no reduction was observed with BER alone under the same conditions. With this system, organic compounds containing various fuctional groups were examined in ethanol at room temperature. This study revealed that BER-LiCl system exhibits an excellent chemoselectivity for carbonyl group in the presence of other functional groups. Keto esters and epoxy ketones were reduced with BER-LiCl to give the corresponding hydroxy esters and epoxy alcohols with excellent yields. Selective reductions of carbonyl groups were also possible in the presence of other organic compounds containing functional groups such as 1-idooctane, 1-bromooctane, caproamide, hexanenitrile, nitrobenzene, n-butyl disulfide, dimethyl sulfoxide and 1-dodecene.

        난소화성 덱스트린이 흰쥐의 장기능 및 혈청 지질에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 기능성 식이섬유음료의 성유급원인 난소화성 덱스트린의 장기능 및 혈청내 지질에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 Sprague-Dawley(평균 체중 81g)의 흰쥐를 3군으로 나누어 control군으로 무섬유소 식이군(IC), 섬유소간의 비교를 위해 5% pectin군(IP), 5% 난소화성 덱스트린군(ID)으로 6주간 사육하였다. 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 식이 섭취량, 체중 증가량, 식이 효율은 식이간에 유의적 차이는 없었으나, 식이 섭취량이 높을수록 체중 증가량이 증가하였다. ID군이 식이 섭취량, 체중 증가량, 식이 효율이 약간 높은 경향을 보였다. 각군간의 간, 비장, 콩팥의 무게는 유의적 차이가 없었다. 부고환 지방의 무게도 유의적 차이는 없었으나, IP군이 가장 적었고 ID군도 IC군 보다 적은 경향을 보였다. 맹장의 무게는 섬유소를 섭취하지 않은 IC군 보다 ID군에서 유의적으로(p<.05), ID군도 유의적이지는 않으나 IC군 보다는 많아서 지방의 흡수율이 IC군 보다 낮은 경향을 보였다. Ca의 흡수율은 IP군이 가장 낮았고(p<.05), ID군과 IC군과는 별차이가 없었다. 따라서 이러한 결과는 식이음료 중의 난소화성 덱스트린이 장 통과시간에는 영향을 주지 않으나 전반적인 장기능을 증진시키고, Ca의 흡수를 방해하지 않고 지방의 흡수를 감소시켜 체내 지방대사에 다소 영향을 미칠 것으로 사료된다. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of indigestible dextrin on bowel function and serum lipid. Recently developed indigestible dextrin is water soluble dietary fiber obtained by heating and enzyme-treatment of potato starch with low viscosity. SD male rats weighing 80~85g were divided into three groups; control diet(IC), control+5% pectin(IP), control+5% indigestible dextin(ID). Experimental rats were fed one of the experimental diets ad libitum for six weeks. Weight gain, food intake, and food efficiency ratio were not significantly different among other groups. Those of ID tended to be higher than in IP and IC. Weights of liver, spleen and kidney were not significantly different among groups. Epididymal fat pads weight in IP and ID tended to be lower than in IC. The weight of cecum was sinificantly higher in ID than in other groups(p<0.05). The weight and length of large intestine tended to be higher in IP and ID than in IC. Total feces excretion of ID and IP tended to be more than that of IC. Transit time was shorter in IP than in other groups. Serum total lipid, total cholesterol and TG levels were higher in IC group than other groups. The fecal excretion of lipid was significantly higher in IP than in other groups(p<0.05). That of ID tended to be more than that of IC, so fat apparent absorption of ID was lower than that of IC. Ca absorption were decreased more in IP than in other groups(p<0.05).

        피부 종양에서의 암태아성 항원의 면역조직화학적 연구

        We performed an immunohistochemical study, using bioti-navidin system to clarify the pattern of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)immunoreactivity in various tumors of the skin, according to its histogenetic origin. Positive reaction was observed in syringorna, eccrine spiradenoma, eccrine angiomatous hamartoma, eccrine carcinoma, syringocystadenoma papilliferum, metastatic breast carcinoma and mammary Pagets disease. But in epithelial tumors, metastatic skin cancer from maxillary sinus, tumors derived from pilar and sebaceous gland structure, mesenchymal tumors and neuroectodermal tumors, CEA was not observed. These results suggest that immunohistochemical study for CEA could be used as an adjunct for the differential diagnosis of sweat gland tumors from others, especially pilar structure and sebaceous-gland-derived tumors, for the detection of the histogenesis of metastatic tumors, and for the diagnosis of Pagets clisease.
