Influence of a Self-assembled Monolayer on Indium-Zinc-Oxide Semiconductor Thin-film Transistors

The fabrication of an active-matrix liquid-crystal display by using printing processes offers thepotential to reduce the number of photolithography steps and the manufacturing costs. In thisstudy, we prepare the indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) by using non-vacuumprocesses such as inkjet printing. The self-assembled monolayers of hexadecanethiol (HDT) on thesurface of the oxide semiconductor prior to the inkjet printing of Ag were employed to modify theelectric barrier between the IZO and the printed Ag. The field-effect mobility of the IZO TFTswith 0.5-mM HDT treatments and with the inkjet-printed Ag electrodes that were investigated byusing their current-voltage characteristics was approximately 0.36 cm2/Vs.
Organic Nonvolatile Memory Devices Fabricated by Using an Inkjet Printing Method

We are developing inkjet printing as a low cost, high throughput approach to the fabrication of single-layer organic memory devices. The organic memory devices were composed of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) film with Ag nanoparticles (NPs). The inkjet printing was introduced to embed Ag NPs in the PVK film. The organic memory devices exhibited the behavior of resistive random access memory and on/off switching ratios of 103. This value was obtained through the post-annealing condition at 150oC. The current–voltage characteristics of the devices revealed rewritable and bipolar memory effects during several sweeps of voltage.

The emerging technology of printed electronics will replace traditional photolithography, which requires costly materials, complex processes and expensive equipment, for the production of electronic circuits and displays. In this study, we fabricated thin-film transistors (TFTs) based on the materials of indium zinc oxide (IZO) semiconductor and Ag metal. The source-drain electrodes were fabricated on IZO film by a reverse offset printing method and annealed at various temperatures. The performance of the IZO TFTs with regard to the annealing temperature was investigated by examining the I-V characteristics. The electrical mobility of the TFTs increased as the annealing temperature increased. Inter-diffusion between the printed Ag metal and the IZO semiconductor was observed in the depth concentration profile of the Ag/IZO/SiO2/Si sample annealed at 250 ℃.

우리는 tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3)와 같은 단분자 유기물 박막을 사용하여 유기물 발광 소자(OLEDs)를 제작하였다. OLEDs는 ITO가 증착된 유기 기판 위에서 제조되었고, 수명 측정 이후의 OLEDs에 대한 발광, 축전 용량, 유전 손실 특성 등을 측정하였다. 여기서, 수명 측정을 위하여 사용한 인가 전류는 0.5mA 에서 9mA까지 였고, 수명의 인가 전류 의존성은 약 2 mA 부근에서 다르게 관찰되었다. C-V 특성 곡선에서 나타난 축전 용량의 봉우리들은 유기물 내의 분극과 유기물과 금속의 경계에서 나타난 분극의 영향으로 추측된다. 그리고, 2 mA 보다 낮은 전류 하에서 수명 측정 후 발광특성이 저하된 OLEDs에서는 소자 내의 분극 크기의 감소와 전하 유입 장벽의 낮아짐이 같이 관찰되었다. We demonstrated organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) based on the organic thin-film materials such as tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum $(Alq_3)$. The structure of OLEDs was vacuum deposited upon transparent and thin glass substrates pre-coated with a transparent, conducting indium tin oxide thin film. The luminance characteristics, current, capacitance, and dispersion factor for degraded OLEDs, which were made by various bias currents $(0.5mA\;{\leq}\;I_{Bias}\;{\leq}9mA)$, are studied. The current dependences of lifetime were divided at approximately 2mA, and they represented nearly linear behaviors but had different slopes in a logarithmic plot of lifetime versus bias current. With lighting OLEDs, the anomaly of capacitance, as shown in the CV curve, occurred because of two factors, polarization in the bulk of organic materials and the interface between the metal and organic layers. In decayed OLEDs that had lower bias currents of less than 2mA, it was found that the degradation of luminance was related to both the decrease of polarization and to the lowering of the injection barrier.
Characteristics of Via-Hole Interconnections Fabricated by Using an Inkjet Printing Method

Inkjet printing is a familiar technique that creates and releases droplets of fluid on demand and precisely deposits those droplets on a substrate. It has received increased attention for its novelty and ability to produce patterned and template material structures. In the application of electronic interconnection fabrication, drop-on-demand inkjet printers especially offer the advantages of contactless printing and eliminat the use of a die or photomask. In this study, we created a via-hole interconnecting structure through a polymer insulator layer by using an inkjet printing. When the droplets of Ag ink were dropped onto a PMMA/Au/Cr/SiO2/Si area and the Ag film was annealed at high temperatures, the Ag ink containing solvents penetrated into the PMMA layer and generated the conducting paths between the top Ag and the bottom Au electrodes by partial dissolution and swelling of the polymer. The surface and the cross-sectional topologies of the formed via-holes were investigated by using an optical microscope and a field emission transmission electron microscope.

Echinostoma hortense (E. hortense) is an intestinal trematode with the highest infection rate in South Korea. However, the immune response against E. hortense infection has not been explained well. In the present study, we investigated the effect of treatment with cyclosporin A (CsA) and histamine receptor antagonists on the cytokine expression and mucosal goblet cells in E. hortense-infected C3H/HeN mice. The alteration of cytokine mRNA expression (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-4 and IL-5), intestinal worm recovery rate and goblet cell responses were measured weekly from 0 to 5 weeks post-infection (P.I.) in the control and the following three drug-treated groups: CsA, hydroxyzine and cimetidine. Compared with the control group, the expression of TNF-α, IL-4 and IL-5 mRNAs decreased in the CsA- and hydroxyzine-treated groups, but only IL-4 mRNA expression did in the cimetidine-treated group. Worm recovery rate was significantly increased in the drug-treated groups. Mucosal goblet cells and their mucin response significantly decreased in the CsA-treated group (P<0.01), but significantly increased in the cimetidine- (P<0.05) and hydroxyzine- (P<0.01) treated groups. These data suggest that CsA treatment inhibits production of Th1- and Th2-type cytokines which are necessary for the worm expulsion. Histamine receptor increases goblet cells and their mucin activation, although it remains to be elucidated whether it directly affects the worm expulsion period of E. hortense in C3H/HeN mice.
$2GHz{\sim}10GHz$ 무선 채널 환경에서 비례 적응형 등화기를 이용한 SC-FDE 시스템 구현과 성능분석

In the multipath fading channel, OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)system possess the characteristics of ISI/ICIwith prefix, but a weak point of circuit complexity and PAPR problem. SC-FDE(Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalization) performance is similar to OFDM system, but equalizer is complex in frequency domain. In this paper, simple proportional equalizer offer for SC-FDE system, it useful method in the $2GHz{\sim}\;10GHz$ channel model such as indoor, outdoor, SUI. It prove using MATLAB simulation, speed faster then OFDM system, reduce terminal complexity in same test condition. 다중 경로 페이딩 환경에서 OFDM(Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing)방식은 보호 구간 및 주파수영역 등화로 심벌 및 채널 간 간섭을 방지하는 특성을 가지는 반면 전송신호의 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio)크다는 것이다. SC-FDE(Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalization)방식은 OFDM과 유사한 성능을 가지면서 상대적으로 PAPR이 적은 반면 등화기가 복잡하다. 본 논문에서는 SC-FDE시스템을 위한 주파수영역 비례 적응형 등화기를 제안하고, $2GHz\;{\sim}\;10GHz$ 대역의 다양한 채널모델 환경 하에서 성능을 분석함으로 802.11 및 802.16 등에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있음을 제시하였다. 아울러 동일조건의 OFDM시스템과 성능을 비교하여 수렴속도가 빠르고 단말기의 복잡도를 줄일 수 있음을 시뮬레이션을 통해 증명하였다.
