        임진왜란 관련 한일 역사서사문학의 성격 : <임진록> 과 <태합기(太閤記)>· <조선정벌기> 의 비교를 중심으로 Focusing on the comparative study between " Imjinrok " and " Taikouki " , " Chosenseipatski "

        On the subject of Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592(briefly called Imjin Invasion), it was studied for the character of Korea-Japan historic literature; Imjinrok, Taikouki, Chosenseipatski. The approach was made focusing on the environment, narrative method, plot and the characters, consciousess of writers etc. This discussion can be briefed out as follows. First of all, Imjinrok of Chosun Dynasty has been written with a great influence from both practical literature and historic description after Imjin Invasion. The Chronicle recording can counted as one of the major method of narration. The Japanese works such as Taikouki and Chosenseipatski were made on the tradition of military literature of previous generation. One of distinctive feature is the beautification and the heroism that is introduced as the repose for the defeated. It comes from the intended efforts to shape the works as the historical records outwardly, continuously following the trend of military records of previous generations. When the plot is compared, it is as follows, It can be categorized on the narrative novels; before the war, in the beginning of the war, in the midst of war, in the end of war, Three different copies of Imjinrok are almost identical with the stage as the midst of war as the historical records. However, it shows big difference in the peace treaty is made after the death of Toyotomi Hediyoshi, but the Hangul version presents that the Samyunhdangs heroic story over the Japanese after the General Lee Sunsin furthering the final ending with colonialism over Japan. It is one of the important pattern that the important pattern that the writers consciousness is found from post-war novels, even in the historical narration. The plot of Taikouki is composed as two parts: the combat story telling the invasion to the Chosun and the non-combat story showing the personal glorification of Toyotomi. The combat story showing the personal glorification of Toyotomi, The combat story is generally written with victorious events of Japanese military and the sudden final end without a clear description over peace treaty with Ming Dynasty and the defeat of Japan. In the middle of the combat story, it is full with non-combat statement and anecdote designed to chant the glorious Toyotomi and his ruling. On the contrary, two works of chosenseipataki is filled with the combat story on the whole. The first half of the Hori-copy makes the description comparatively as it is, but the second half relatively centered on the battle against Ming. On the non-combat narration, it shows the strong will of the writer who is going to emphasize the ideology of Japanese king. The Oseiki-copy is similar with the Hory-copy, but it is added up with new anecdotes with extended explanation for some simple contents, particularly on the heroism for Toyotomi and the martial story of Gato and Konisi. The comparison between the chosun and the Japanese is tried from different perspectives of counter partner each other: Imjinrok with the brutal and avaricious hegemony of the Japanese, Tailouki and Chosenseipatski with the lustful and extravagant, incompetent martiality of the Chosun. Compared with characters and consciousness of writer, Imjinrok represents the type of royal personality and the inevitable Gods providence in detail. For the Chosun Dynasty, it is counted as the winning forces: civil volunteer soldiers, the royal military warlords, foreign troops from Ming Dynasty, the Royal ministers asking the augmentation troops of Ming. Among the three copies, it brings about the active roles of commanders of civil volunteer forces and generals, remarkably displaying royalty and patriotism. Meanwhile, Lee Sunsin is shaped as the most important character form lots of commanders. Out of the defeated generals, it is presented with the outstanding character with fidelity, surpassing over victorious generals. On the other works, the dispatched troops of Ming seems to play a decisive role in the descriptive narration. It can mean the meritorious achievement in the history, but it seems for the writer to consider Ming as the God-sent troops. What draws the attention is the active involvement of characters who is praised with superpower of with deity. On the Chinese copy of Kukdo, this phenomenon is found with partial involvements, but on the Hangul copies with decisive and overall roles. From the Hangul copies, it is understandable with detailed pattern as a the providence of a God, theorized with untouchable presence of the Chosun Dynasty whom is protected by an Heavenly God and the Budda from any Japanese intrusive invasion. In connection with the reality in fact, the recognition of the God providence is quite superficial, resulting in the evidence of conservative ideology of actual politics. The writers of Tiakouki and Chosunseipatski tried to depict the ideal supreme commander and warriorship with the introduction of characters: Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Gato Kiyomasa, Konisi Yukinaga etc. It seems to foster the warrior spirit by the guideline of warrior way for the next generation. It is also originated from the intention to serve repose of the Toyotomi family, which is defeated by the Tokugawa Shogun.

      • Dynamic characteristics of a flagellar motor protein analyzed using an elastic network model

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>At the base of a flagellar motor, its rotational direction and speed are regulated by the interaction between rotor and stator proteins. A switching event occurs when the cytoplasmic rotor protein, called C-ring, changes its conformation in response to binding of the CheY signal protein. The C-ring structure consists of FliG, FliM, and FliN proteins and its conformational changes in FliM and FliG including Helix<SUB>MC</SUB> play an important role in switching the motor direction. Therefore, clarifying their dynamic properties as well as conformational changes is a key to understanding the switching mechanism of the motor protein. In this study, to elucidate dynamic characteristics of the C-ring structure, both harmonic (intrinsic vibration) and anharmonic (transition pathway) analyses are conducted by using the symmetry-constrained elastic network model. As a result, the first three normal modes successfully capture the essence of transition pathway from wild type to CW-biased state. Their cumulative square overlap value reaches up to 0.842. Remarkably, it is also noted from the transition pathway that the cascade of interactions from the signal protein to FliM to FliG, highlighted by the major mode shapes from the first three normal modes, induces the reorientation (∼100° rotation of FliG<SUB>C5</SUB>) of FliG C-terminal that directly interacts with the stator protein. Presumably, the rotational direction of the motor protein is switched by this substantial change in the stator-rotor interaction.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Dynamic characteristics of cytoplasmic ring are investigated using normal mode analysis based on elastic network model. </LI> <LI> Transition of FliG protein from wild type to CW-biased provides insights into the structural change switching event. </LI> <LI> Structural dynamics of motor protein implies that the reorientation of important domains makes rotation of motor effective. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Frequency Dependent Magnetoelectric Responses in [0.948 Na<sub>0.5</sub>K<sub>0.5</sub>NbO<sub>3</sub>-0.052 LiSbO<sub>3</sub>]-[Co<sub>1-x</sub>Zn<sub>x</sub>Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub>] Particulate Composites

        Magnetoelectric (ME) properties of 3-0 type particulate composites have been investigated with respect to application features for reliable magnetic sensitivity and magnetically-induced output voltage. In order to figure out the magnetoelectric characteristics in the ME composites, frequency dependent ME responses were studied from [0.948 Na0.5K0.5NbO3-0.052 LiSbO<sub>3</sub>]-[Co<sub>1-x</sub>Zn<sub>x</sub>Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub>] (NKNLS)/Co<sub>1-x</sub>Zn<sub>x</sub>Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> (CZFO, x=0, 0.1, and 0.2). As a result, the maximal αME of 23.15 mV/cm·Oe was achieved from the NKNLS-CZFO (x<sub>Zn</sub> = 0.1) composites at resonance frequency of 315 kHz and H<sub>dc</sub> = 0 Oe. From the frequency dependent ME responses, it is clearly described that the self-biased ME composites can be used for applications as both magnetic sensors and energy harvesters, respectively.

        N/A Background : It is common to find enlarged lymph nodes within hepatoduoedenal ligament during ultrasonography in patients with chronic hepatitis B. But, its clinical significance has not been clearly understood. Methods : Lymph node volume within the hepatoduodenal ligament in 50 patients with chronic hepatitis B and 15 healthy controls was evaluated using ultrasonography. In patients with chronic hepatitis B, possible correlation of lymph node volume with biochemical tests, hepatitis activity index, and hepatitis B viremia was investigated. Results : One or more lymph nodes were detected in 48 (96%) out of 50 patients with chronic hepatitis B (volume=3.4±2.4 mL, mean±S.D.) and 2 (13%) out of 15 controls (volume=0.4 mL, 0.6 mL). In chronic hepatitis B, lymph node volume showed a significant correlation with serum AST (r=0.66), ALT (r=0.63), γGT (r=0.53), total score of histologic activity index (r=0.59), and necroinflammatory score (r=0.59, p<0.05 for all); but not with fibrosis score and serum hepatitis B viremia. Conclusion : Enlarged perihepatic lymph nodes reflects histologic and biochemical inflammatory activity of the liver in chronic hepatitis B.(Korean J Med 60:40-45, 2001)

      • Risk Factors for Adverse Outcomes after Peritonitis-Related Technique Failure

        <B>Background</B><P> Peritonitis is the leading cause of technique failure in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Some patients experience recurrent ascites, encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS), and even death after catheter removal. Little is known, however, about the risk factors for such complications. </P><B>Methods</B><P> The study subjects were 117 patients that had their PD catheter removed due to peritonitis between January 2000 and June 2006. Biochemical and clinical data were reviewed retrospectively. Serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and blood and effluent white blood cell counts (WBC) were measured at baseline and at 72 hours of peritonitis. Based on adverse outcomes, patients were classified into 4 groups: non-complication (NC; n = 73), recurrent ascites (A; n = 26), EPS (E; n = 10), and death directly related to peritonitis (D; n = 8). </P><B>Results</B><P> Age at PD catheter removal was significantly higher in D group compared to NC group (62.0 ± 10.6 vs 51.2 ± 11.5 years, p @@<@@ 0.05). In addition, mean PD duration was significantly longer in E group compared to NC and A groups (130.5 ± 48.1 vs 58.8 ± 42.4 vs 74.8 ± 47.4 months, p @@<@@ 0.01). Compared to baseline, effluent WBC was significantly decreased in NC group after 72 hours of peritonitis. In addition, serum CRP level was significantly decreased in NC and A groups, whereas it was significantly increased in D group. Multivariate analyses adjusted for age, PD duration, blood and effluent WBC, serum CRP, and micro-organisms revealed that serum CRP level at 72 hours predicted significantly the development of EPS [odds ratio (OR) 1.15, p @@<@@ 0.05] and peritonitis-related death (OR 1.18, p @@<@@ 0.01). In addition, PD duration (per 1 month increase: OR 1.03, p @@<@@ 0.05) and age at PD catheter removal (per 1 year increase: OR 1.11, p @@<@@ 0.05) were identified as significant determinants of EPS and peritonitis-related death respectively. Only effluent WBC at 72 hours was significantly associated with the development of ascites (OR 1.27, p @@<@@ 0.05). </P><B>Conclusion</B><P> Older patients with long PD duration and those with persistently elevated serum CRP levels were likely to develop complications after peritonitis-related technique failure. Our study suggests that serial measurement of CRP may be helpful in predicting the development of complications after PD catheter removal. </P>

        Electron beam induced strong organic/inorganic grafting for thermally stable lithium-ion battery separators

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A tailored interface between organic and inorganic materials is of great importance to maximize the synergistic effects from hybridization. Polyethylene separators over-coated with inorganic thin films are the state-of-the art technology for preparing various secondary batteries with high safety. Unfortunately, the organic/inorganic hybrid separators have the drawback of a non-ideal interface, thus causing poor thermal/dimensional stability. Here, we report a straightforward method to resolve the drawback of the non-ideal interface between vapor deposited SiO<SUB>2</SUB> and polyethylene separators, to produce a highly stable lithium-ion battery separator through strong chemical linking generated by direct electron beam irradiation. The simple treatment with an electron beam with an optimized dose generates thermally stable polymer separators, which may enhance battery safety under high-temperature conditions. Additionally, the newly formed Si–O–C or Si–CH<SUB>3</SUB> chemical bonding enhances electrolyte-separator compatibility and thus may provide a better environment for ionic transport between the cathode and anode, thereby leading to better charge/discharge behaviors.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Ideal interface between vapor deposited SiO<SUB>2</SUB> and polyethylene separators was reported. </LI> <LI> The simple electron beam treatment generates thermally stable polymer separators. </LI> <LI> A tailored interface between organic and inorganic materials is of great importance. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Spent V<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub>-WO<sub>3</sub>/TiO<sub>2</sub> catalyst processing for valuable metals by soda roasting-water leaching

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, extraction of vanadium and tungsten from spent selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst by a soda roasting process was investigated. The leaching efficiency of tungsten significantly increased with the increases in Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB> addition, roasting time and temperature. A leaching efficiency of tungsten was achieved with 92% when the spent SCR catalyst was roasted using 10 equivalent ratio of Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB>/total wt% of V<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>5</SUB> and WO<SUB>3</SUB> under the following conditions: particle size of feedstock, <106μm; roasting temperature, 1073K; and roasting time, 120min. Of particular note, increasing the leaching efficiency of tungsten was closely related to the degree of phase transition from TiO<SUB>2</SUB> anatase to its rutile phase and suppression of formation of CaWO<SUB>4</SUB> by increasing the amount of Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB> addition. On the other hand, the leaching efficiency of vanadium was seldom affected by the soda roasting variables, and showed almost constant around 40% throughout the experimental results. This was presumably due to the formation of calcium vanadate by the reaction with CaO in the feedstock. Furthermore, it can be assumed that the leaching efficiency of vanadium was determined by the content of calcium in the feedstock.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Extraction of V and W from spent SCR catalyst by soda roasting and water leaching was investigated. </LI> <LI> Leaching efficiency of W was greatly influence by the increase of Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB> addition. </LI> <LI> The increase of roasting time and the increase roasting temperature </LI> <LI> Effect of roasting parameters affecting the leaching efficiency of V was negligible and remains almost constant (~40%). </LI> <LI> Leaching efficiency of W was closely related with the phase transition from anatase to rutile during the soda roasting. </LI> </UL> </P>

        A study on freeboard assessment of agricultural reservoirs considering climate change

        국내 농업용 저수지 댐 시설물은 노후화 및 기후변화로 인한 여름철 강우량 증가로 인해 수자원관리에 대한 어려움뿐만 아니라 댐 월류에 따른 피해위험이 높을 것으로 전망된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기후변화를 고려한 농업용 저수지 수문학적 안전성을 평가하기 위해 농업용 저수지 1종 댐시설물을 대상유역으로 선정하였으며, 유역별 확률강우량, 기존에 제시된 Present PMP, 기상청 기후변화시나리오에 따른 Future PMP를 산정하였다. 또한, 기후변화에 따라 증가하는 강우량을 정량적으로 분석하고, 홍수량산정 및 저수지홍수추적을 실시하여 강우시나리오에 따른 농업용 저수지의 여유고를 분석하였다. 기후변화를 고려한 Future PMP를 이용하여 농업용 저수지 댐 시설물의 수문학적 안전성을 평가한 결과, 고삼, 금광, 미호, 청천저수지는 설계홍수위 이상의 최고수위가 발생함에 따라 월류위험에 취약할 것으로 분석되었다. Domestic agricultural reservoir dam facilities are difficult to manage water resources because of the in summer rainfall increase due to aging and climate change, it is expected that the dam risk will be large due to the overflow. In this study, author selected study basin in order to evaluate hydrological safety of agricultural reservoir dam facilities. And calculated the probable rainfall, Present PMP, Future PMP considering climate change. Also, author carried quantitative analysis out for increasing rainfall due to climate change, analyze freeboard assessment of agricultural reservoir by calculate flood discharge, reservoir flood routing according to rainfall scenarios. As a result of evaluate hydrological safety of agricultural reservoir dam facilities using Future PMP considering climate change, Gosam, Kumkwang, Miho, Cheongcheon reservoir had the Highest Water Level over the design flood level, it is analyzed that it would be vulnerable to overflow risk.
