Purpose of this study is to clarify the contribution of YMCA to the modern physical education of Korea through surveying the activties of Hawang-Sung young men's Christian Association (earlier name of YMCA) on the physical education field. Through the literature survey, this study made following Conclusions. First : On the establistment and earlier expansion period ; YMCA made noticable contribution to the development of modern physical education of Korea through ; Introduction and popularization of modern sports activities in Korea, training the Korea athlete by western sports specialists, development of balanced personality, in spiration of independence movement through diverse sports activities. More over, YMCA introduced modal system for the first time in Korea. Second : On the resistent movement and nationwide expansion period (1906-1916) : YMCA also provided the opportunities to change the Korean's perception to the sports through ; Introduction of western health concept in Korea, shower room and bathroom in young athletes' building was a partial example of it, and I introduction of western administration mehtod of athletic meetings and promotion of cooperative relationships between Korean sports specialist in various area, Contribution to independence movement and to realization of Korean traditional Yang-Ban through sports activities. Third : On the independence movement and enlightment campaign period(1916-1920) : YMCA also provided clear contribution to the following three area ; Popularization of social sports by constrution of the in-door sports facilities for the first time in Korea and managing many in-door games, promotion of women's sports suh as dancing etc, globalization of young Korean athletes' view through the overseas basketball games.

Extracellular phospholipase A₂ activity has been detected in urine of patients with acute pyelonephritis (APN). This enzyme required micromolar Ca^(2+) ion for its maximum activity and showed a broad range of pH (4.5∼10) optimum. Urine enzyme hydrolyzed phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylserine (PS) more effectively than phosphatidylcholine (PC). PLA₂ activity in the urine of patients with APN was about 5-fold higher than that of healthy individuals. When urine was subjected to heparin-Sepharose column chromatography, phospholipase A₂ activity was detected in both heparin-non-binding and binding fractions. Both phospholipase A₂ activities were sensitive less than a micromolar calcium concentration and did not react with anti-human 14-kDa group II phospholipase A₂ monoclonal antibody, HP-1. These findings suggest that two kinds of novel extracellular phospholipase A₂, which may not belong to the 14-kDa group II phospholipase A₂ family, exist in the urine of patients with APN.

Emulsion graft copolymerizations of vinyl monomers, butyl acrylate(BA), methyl methacrylate(MMA), 2-ethylhexyl acrylate(EHA), glycidyl methacrylate(GMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA), methacrylonitrile(MAN), dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DAMA) or 2-vinyl pyridine(VP), onto carboxyl-terminated SBR latex were carried out under different experimental conditions. In case of synthesizing SBR-g-poly(butyl acrylate), the degree of grafting was increased with increasing the amount of emulsifier, polymerization temperature and the amount of initiator. Pull-out strength of resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex(RFL) adhesives formulated with modified latexes was very higher than that of RFL adhesive formulated with ungrafted latex. When the modified latexes with GMA, HEMA, MAN, DAMA or VP were used, the break occurred at cords. Peel strength of RFL adhesives formulated with SBR-g-poly(GMA), SBR-g-poly(HEMA) or 5BR-g-poly(VP) was higher by about 1.3 times than that of RFL adhesives formulated with unmodified SBR against nylon cord and was higher by about 2.0 times against polyester cord.
Flammulina velutipes 항보체 활성다당의 생산에 미치는 영양원의 효과

팽이버섯(Flammulina velutipes)으로부터 항보체활성다당의 생산을 위해 여러 영양원의 효과를 검토하고 이들 활성다당의 부분정제를 행하였다. Galactose, NaN0_3를 각각의 탄소, 질소원으로 한 배지를 이용하여 23℃, pH 5.5에서 6일간 배양시 최대의 활성다당 생산을 보였다. 또한 동조건의 배양상등액으로부터 조다당 FV-1을 분리한 후, 이를 Sephadex G-1OO을 이용한 젤여과를 통하여 활성이 우수한 FV-1-Ⅱ와 Ⅲ로 정제하였다. FV-1-Ⅱ의 경우 xylose, mannose, galactose 및 glucose가, FV-1-Ⅲ의 경우 rhamnose, mannose 및 galactose가 주요 구성당이었다. 한편 FV-1-Ⅲ 획분은 Ca 이온 부재시에 활성의 부분적 감소를 일으켰으며, Ca 이온 부재 조건에서 정상인의 혈청과 반응 후 anti-human C3를 이용하여 2차원 면역전기영동을 행한 결과 C3의 분해산물을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 사실로부터 FV 다당의 보체활성화 양식은 classical pathway와 alternative pathway 양경로를 경유함을 알 수 있었다. The effect of various nutrients for the production of the anti-complementary polysaccharide by Flammulina velutipes, was examined and the partial purification of the polysaccharide was carried out. The colture conditions and medium compositions considerably influenced the anti-complementary activity of the polysaccharides. When a culture was carried out at 23℃ and pH 5.5 for 6 days in the synthetic medium supplemented with galactose and NaN0_3, the production of the anti-complementary polysaccharide was maximized. The crude polysaccharide, FV-1 was isolated from the culture broth and partially purified into two fractions, FV-1-Ⅱ and FV-1-Ⅲ by gel filtration using Sephadex G-100. FV-1-Ⅱ was mainly consisted of xylose, mannose, galactose and glucose, and rhamnose, mannose and galactose, for FV-1-Ⅲ. Also, the anti-complementary activity of FV-1-Ⅲ was reduced partially in the absence of the Ca ion. When crossed immunoelect-rophoresis using anti-human C3 serum was carried out after incubation of normal human serum with the FV-1-Ⅲ in the Ca ion free condition, a cleavage of C3 precipitin line was observed. These results indicate that the mode of complement activation by polysaccharide from Flammulina velutipes is via not only the classical pathway but also the alternative pathway.
