        『인간의 오점』에 나타난 정화의 의미

        The Human Stain by Philip Roth begins with the conversation between Oedipus in Oedipus the King and Creon. Oedipus is the cause of the plague that afflicts the city of Thebes. His inadvertent murder of a man, who was his father Laius, is the reason for the pestilence. After wandering around the land with his daughter, Oedipus suffers a miserable death which then purifies the city of Thebes. Setting the novel in 1998, at the time of the presidential sex scandal, Roth compares and contrasts the Puritanism of the prejudiced American politicians with narrow-mindedness and self-righteousness of the faculty at Athena college. Congress enacted the astringent rituals of purification by charging president Clinton of adultery and perjury, but even didn't make America safe and cozy enough to watch TV with ten-year-old daughter. Coleman Silk, the protagonist of the novel, is a classics professor who teaches Greek literature at Athena College. He is denounced as a racist for inadvertently calling two absent students “spooks” and is forced to retire. The crisis kills his wife Iris, causing him to lead a lonely life. Finally he dies along side the woman in love, Faunia Farley. His death, to my regret, contributes almost nothing to purity the conformities of Athena College and the city, in contrast to the purification brought by Oedipus's death. The Human Stain, criticizes the American persecuting spirit through Oedipus, Coleman and Clinton. Roth compares this spirit to the germs of disease that exert a fatal influence upon human life. He seems to maintain that the human stain is an attribute, an inherent property of humankind, not easily removed. Most likely he believes that a blind belief in the purity of human nature is nothing but a sweet illusion, a manifestation of folly.

        『나를 보내지 마』, 디스토피아에서 발견한 생명과 예술의 힘

        Japanese novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro’s well-known novel Never Let Me Go has shown leading characters as well as peculiar and bizarre ones including clones, who have spent a few years at the boarding school in England during their childhood. On the surface it looks like a work which conjures up memories of their childhood they spent at Hailsham. It is almost safe to say that the memories are as pleasant as utopia. But in truth Halisham is an institution which breeds up the clones that furnishes human beings with the bio-technological slaves. The protagonists are nothing but homo sacer that are bound to determine whether to donate their organs or choose death. Hailsham gives an education on humanities, which has a tendency to support capitalism with an intention of persuading them to accept death. It is ironic that the education has not only caused them to worry about their bare lives but to question the values of being human. In conclusion this critical review will explain the fact that the clones are bound to fight against the illusions. Halisham has inculcated in their minds, and find out the world of Halisham is nothing but that of dystopia. In addition, it will also inquire into the force of life and art found in the world of dystopia.

        현장체험학습에 대한 시각장애학교 교사의 인식 연구

        본 연구는 시각장애학교의 효율적인 현장체험학습을 위한 개선방안을 모색하기 위해 시각장애학교 교사 125명을 대상으로 설문지 24문항을 구성하여 수행되었다. 이에 대한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시각장애학교 교사들의 현장체험학습에 대한 전체 인식수준은 보통이상 수준으로 높았고, 현장체험학습에 대한 필요성, 효과성, 만족도, 운영 및 실태 순으로 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 현장체험학습에 대한 배경변인별 인식은 여교사가 남교사보다 현장체험학습에 대한 만족도와 운영 및 실태가 더 높았고, 국ㆍ공립이 사립학교교사보다, 정안교사가 시각장애교사보다 필요성이, 비담임이 담임교사보다 운영 및 실태가 더 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 현장체험학습에 대한 운영 형태의 목적에 대해 `학습한 것에 대한 구체적인 경험과 지식습득`이 가장 높았고, 편성 형태에 대해 `초ㆍ중ㆍ고 분리 편성 운영`이 가장 높게 나타났다. 또한 현장체험학습의 장소 선정에 대해 `학습주제에 적합한 곳`이 가장 높았고, 활동의 선호도는 스포츠가 가장 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 중심으로 선행 연구와 논의 후, 후속연구에 필요한 사항을 제시하였다. The purpose of this research is to find more efficient methods for field experience learning at schools for the visually impaired. Thus, 125 teachers currently teaching in the schools for the visually impaired answered a questionnaire consists of 24 questions concerning the issue. Findings from the survey are as followings. Firstly, the teachers in nationwide schools for the visually impaired had higher-then-normal perception level for field experience learning and they showed the highest perception on the necessity of field experience learning, which was followed by effectiveness, satisfaction, execution and real condition in order of level. Secondly, to look into perceptional differences according to background variables, levels for satisfaction, execution and real condition were higher with female teachers than their male peers. Also, teachers in national and public schools showed higher level of necessity then those in private schools. At the same time, teachers without visual impairments had higher perception on necessity of field experiences than those with visual impairments. Besides, homeroom teachers carried higher perceptions on execution and real condition of field learning than others. Thirdly, when teachers were asked about what is the most important role of field experience learning, “detailed experiences and further learning from classroom study.” Asked about ideal grouping composition for field trip, “separated operation by elementary, middle, high school level.” Also, when they were asked about ideal places for field experience learning, “places consistent to classroom study.” Categorized suggestions for follow up studies are also presented based on the combined study between precedented researches and the findings above.

        배경: Adefovir dipovoxil (ADV)은 경구용 핵산 유도체로 야생형 및 lamivudine (LMV) 내성 B형 간염 바이러스 (HBV)의 증식을 효과적으로 억제한다. 치료 기간과 비례하여 약제 내성 바이러스가 발생하는 LMV과는 달리 ADV는 장기간의 투약에도 내성 발현률이 매우 낮은 것으로 보고되어 nucleoside-naive 환자에서의 ADV 내성 변이종 발생은 치료 48, 96, 144, 192주에 각각 0, 1.7, 6, 15%

        구연 : Restriction Fragment Mass Polymorphism를 이용한 C형 간염바이러스 유전자형 분석법

        배경/목적: C형 간염의 만성화는 HCV 유전자의 극심한 다양성에 원인이 있다. 이러한 유전자의 다양성 중 HCV의 유전자형 및 그 아형의 분류는 역학조사나 백신개발에 중요한 의미를 내포하고 있을 뿐 아니라 이미 C형간염의 인터페론 치료에 필수적인 임상검사가 되었다. 그러나 기존의 검사방법은 숙련된 인원과 시설을 필요로 하며 primer의 사용에 따라 유전자형이 다르게 나타나거나, 혼합감염의 경우 단독 유전자형으로 분류되며 고가인 점이라는 한계가 있었다. 따라서 더 저렴하면서도 정확하고, 재현성이 있으며 신속한 진단 방법이 절실히 요구되어 왔다. 대상과 방법: 1997년 1월부터 2003년 1월까지 인터페론 치료를 받기 위해 genotyping을 실시했던 환자를 포함한 만성 C형 간질환 48명과 서울대병원 환자 20명을 대상으로 하였으며 이 중 33명은 기존에 RFLP 또는 Hybridization 방법으로 genotyping을 검사했던 환자들이었다. 검사방법은?Restriction Fragment Mass Polymorphism (RFMP) 방법을 이용하였다. HCV RNA를 정제 분리한 후, 5`-UTR 지역을 역전사, 연쇄중합반응 (RT-PCR)하고 TypeIIS 제한효소로 절단한다. 절단된 HCV의 DNA 절편은 바이러스의 염기서열 차이에 따라 독특한 질량을 갖게 되고, 이 질량 차이를 말디토트 (MALDI-TOF) 질량분석기로 분석하여 바이러스의 유전형을 파악하게 된다. 결과: 표와 같이 68예 전예에서 유전자형 및 아형과 혼합감염여부를 알 수 있었으며 기존의 국내보고와는 달리 2c형이 2a형보다 많았고 혼합형도 11예 (16.5%)가 있었다. 기존방법으로 유전자형을 검사한 33예 중 19명 (57.6%)이 같은 유전형을 보였고 4명 (12.1%)이 혼합형을 보였으며 9명 (27.3%)은 유전자형은 같았으나 아형이 달랐고 1예는 다른 유전자형으로 판명되었다. 1b 2a 2c 2a,2c 2a,2e 1b,2a 1b,2a,2e 1b,1f 1b,1c 1b,2c 3e Total 33 8 15 1 2 1 4 1 1 1 1 68 48.5% 11.8% 22% 1.5% 2.9% 1.5% 5.9% 1.5% 1.5% 1.5% 1.5% 100% 결론: 본 검사법은 기존의 RFLP나 Hybridization 방법보다 높은 정확도, 재현성, 신속성이 특징이며 검사과정상 종전의 방법에 비해 비용이 저렴하다. 그리고 6개의 유전자형 뿐 아니라 27종의 아형까지 원스텝으로 진단 가능하다. 또한 중복 감염이나 돌연변이로 2종 이상의 바이러스가 존재할 때, 바이러스의 상대적 양을 추정할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 향후 인터페론 치료전 임상검사뿐 아니라 역학 및 임상 연관성 연구에 최적의 적절한 검사법으로 생각된다.

        현종동궁일기(1649-1659)의 천문기록 통계분석

        We investigated the records of astronomical phenomena in the Hyeonjong-Donggung-Ilgi written by the educational office for a crown prince, Sigang-won, during the time of a crown prince of the king Hyeonjong (i.e., from 1649 to 1659). Of the total of 3,625 days, 3,044 astronomical accounts were compiled from astronomical records of 2,003 days. We classified these astronomical accounts into 16 items, grouped into five categories, and statistically analyzed each group. In our analysis, the accounts for atmospheric optical phenomena equates to 57.9% of the total, and for celestial phenomena visible during the daytime the percentage is 17.3%. The records related to the approach between two objects such as planets, moon, and stars account for 3.3%, and solar or lunar eclipses take up 0.6%. The ratio of accounts regarding meteor, comet, and fire light (火光) stand at 13.8%, 0.30%, and 6.8%, respectively. Sunny days account for 71.1% of all days per year during this period. We determined that the distribution of the fire light by month is similar to that of the solar halo. We also found that the astronomical records from the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty correspond to only 30% of those of the Hyeonjong-Donggung-Ilgi for the same period. In particular, the phenomena of celestial objects occurring outside the atmosphere are transmitted to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty in a higher proportion than the phenomena inside the air. It is therefore necessary to use a historical diary like a Donggung-Ilgi to interpret the phenomena in the air such as atmospheric optical events, meteor, and fire light.

        More focus has been given to the study regarding the Non-Point Source Pollution, such as rainfall, sediment, pesticide, nutrient, and pathogens from urban, forest, and agricultural area, than Point Source Pollution. Muddy water problem has been raised at many areas in Korea. To solve the muddy water problem, many studies have been performed in not only Korea but also other countries using hydraulic structures such as sediment basin, erosion control dam, and others. Among these, the vegetative filter strip has been increasingly used because of its environment-friendly aspect. Vegetative filter strip is designed to reduce soil erosion and sediment discharges from the edge of the field due to rainfall-driven runoff. However, sometimes it is not possible to expect various design storm events in field experiment. Thus, the VFSMOD was selected in this study to develop prototype version of the Web GIS-based VFSMOD system (http://www.EnvSys.co.kr/~vfsmod) because sometimes it is difficult to prepare input dataset for the desktop version of the VFSMOD system. The Web GIS-based VFSMOD system uses the VFSMOD as core engines to simulate hydrology and sediment transport through vegetative filter strips. In the prototype Web GIS-based VFSMOD system, various database were used to help users parameterize the source and filter strip areas. In the prototype Web GIS-based VFSMOD system, Web GIS soil information system was developed and provided for ease selection of spatial location of interest and retrieval of corresponding soil properties for the Web GIS-based VFSMOD system. In this study, trapping efficiency was analyzed with the area which is located on edge of the stream. The trapping efficiency was various as the width of filter strip with rainfall event such as rainfall return period and rainfall duration. In this study area, filter strip which is at least 3.0m was needed for 80% of trapping efficiency to every rainfall condition, and filter strip which is at least 1.2m was needed for 50% of trapping efficiency to every rainfall condition.
