        문항반응이론과 고전검사이론을 이용한 진료수행시험의 문항 분석

        Purpose: The objectives of this study were: 1) to analyze Clinical Performance Examination(CPX) items using item response theory(IRT) and classical test theory(CTT) and 2) to discuss how to apply and interpret these results in order to improve the quality of CPX items. In addition, we intended to explore statistical procedures in order to merge examination data from several different medical schools. Methods: The subject of the study was the 2005 CPX examination data from 10 medical schools located in Seoul and the Kyunggi province. For merging data from ten different medical schools, Levene's test for homogeneity of variances was used. Homogeneous group selection was conducted based on ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis' test and Tukey's multiple comparisons appropriately. The generalized partial credit model was applied to analyze polytomous items and the 2-parameter logistic model was used to analyze dichotomous items. Results: Data from 8 medical schools were incorporated into the analysis. The result of the discrimination index by IRT was different from that of CTT in both polytomous and dichotomous items. Discrimination index from IRT tended to be lower than that of CTT. Difficulty index of dichotomous items of two models was correlated well with each other. However, for polytomous items, IRT model provided more information than CCT. Conclusion: We discovered that the CPX items were mostly easy in terms of difficulty index, and the result from IRT and CCT model did not correlated well in the discrimination index. IRT may provide more detailed information for polytomous items, but the checklist and criteria of scoring system should be cautiously reviewed.

        Activating cultural knowledge to support EFL reading comprehension

        This article reports the results of an experiment that tested the effects of cultural familiarity on the reading comprehension of native Korean-speaking students of English as a foreign language. The participants were 94 intermediate-proficiency students from elementary school to college, who were randomly assigned to two groups. The experimental materials were two versions (one original, one adjusted) of four English reading passages in three different genres: diary, report, and short stories. The original texts were adjusted by being nativized, which was done by changing elements of the text to increase the degree to which the content would be culturally familiar to the participants. Each group was given four readings (two original texts, two adjusted texts). Group A read the original version and Group B read the adjusted version of two of the readings for the other two readings, Group A read the adjusted version and Group B read the original version. The study’s results show that cultural familiarity has a direct influence on reading comprehension and that EFL learners can benefit from materials that activate their cultural knowledge.

        Self-efficacy, Culture, and English Proficiency of University Students in South Korea

        This study examines self-efficacy, defined as a person’s beliefs or personal judgments about his or her competencies, in relation to the English proficiency of university students in Korea. It also discusses the interaction of culture and self-efficacy in this context. Cross-cultural studies on the topic indicate that, in Asian countries with Confucian societal backgrounds, students’ high academic achievement is often accompanied by relatively high levels of anxiety and self-doubt, and relatively low levels of confidence and self-efficacy, in comparison to students in Western countries. This study’s data consist of the completed surveys of 29 students who had TOEFL scores of 110 or above (the highest possible TOEFL score is 120). Three types of data were considered in this study: the means of their TOEFL scores, the means of their self-efficacy ratings and the percentage of errors in their writing. The study finds that the participants’ ratings of their own English proficiency are, overall, lower than other indicators of their proficiency would suggest. It speculates about possible cultural reasons for this discrepancy between the participants’ self-efficacy and their actual proficiency, and discusses potential implications for educators.

        결혼초기 부부의 부부관계신념 지각과 적용이 배우자의 긍정적행동 만족에 미치는 영향

        Objectives: This study examined the effect of the newlyweds’ perception and application of relationship standards, which form the foundation of their marriage life, on their level of satisfaction with the partner’s positive behaviors. The study also aimed to seek ways for the newlyweds to adjust to their married life. Methods: The study targeted 145 newlyweds living in the Seoul metropolitan area, who are married for the first time with less than 5 years of married life and without children. A survey was conducted on the targets with regards to their perception and actual application of relationship standards as well as the satisfaction they feel from the partner's positive behavior. The data was analyzed by using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The study found for the husbands, the way that they perceive how a marriage life should be had a high level of influence. For the wives however, actual application of the standard had a high level of influence. In other words, the wives are satisfied with their partners’ behaviors when they feel that expected relationship standards are well applied to their actual married life. There was therefore a difference between the husband and the wife in terms of the factor that affects their satisfaction. Conclusions: This study is significant as it examined the relationship standards of the newlyweds, their perception on their partners’ positive behaviors, and the dynamic relationship among different variables at a time when family disorganization of newlyweds is ever increasing. It is also significant in that it identified the relationship standards that act as the obstacle to successful married life and further suggested a way for the newlyweds to adjust the standards, which are perceived differently by the husband and the wife, to their married life in a harmonious manner. Marriage counselors would need to help the newlyweds to establish a realistic and harmonious standard that would enhance their satisfaction in their marriage life. 본 연구는 결혼생활의 토대를 형성하는 결혼초기 부부의 부부관계신념 지각과 적용이 배우자의 긍정적행동 만족에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고, 그 결과를 결혼초기 부부들을 위한 부부상담 및 교육에 필요한 기초적 자료로 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 서울 및 수도권에 거주하며 자녀가 없는 결혼 5년 미만의 초혼인 결혼초기 부부 145쌍을 대상으로 부부관계신념 지각과 적용, 배우자의 긍정적행동 만족에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였으며, spss 18.0을 이용해 빈도와 백분율, 평균, 표준편차를 산출하고, 각 측정도구의 신뢰도 검증을 하였으며, 변수들 간의 상관관계분석, t-test, ANOVA, 중다회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 남편보다 아내의 경우에 부부관계신념 적용변인이 배우자의 긍정적행동을 더 잘 예측하였으며, 남편은 배우자 및 부부관계는 어떠해야한다고 지각하고 있는 신념 자체의 영향력이 높은 반면, 아내는 부부관계신념이 실제 결혼생활에서의 적용정도의 영향력이 높게 나타나 배우자의 긍정적행동 만족에 영향을 미치는 요인이 남편과 아내 간에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 현대 사회에서 결혼초기에 가족해체가 증가하고 있는 시점에서 결혼초기 부부들을 대상으로 신념지각과 배우자의 행동에 대한 지각 및 만족 변인들 간의 역동적 관계성을 살펴본 데 의의가 있다. 부부상담사들은 부부가 서로 다르게 지각하는 신념을 조화롭게 결혼생활에 적용할 수 있도록 도우며, 결혼초기 부부의 결혼만족 증진을 위해 현실적이고 조화로운 신념을 갖도록 도울 필요가 있다.

        저소득층 여성의 인문학습 경험에 대한 현상학적 탐구

        본 연구의 목적은 대한성공회 사회선교기관인 나눔의 집이 A 지역에서 주관하는 인문교육 과정에 참여한 저소득층 여성들에게 인문학습 경험이 어떤 의미인가를 현상학적 연구방법을 통해 밝히는 것이다. 여성에 대한 사회구조적인 성차별과 사회적 편견이 존재하는 우리 사회에서 저소득층 여성들이 어떻게 인문학습을 경험하고 있는지 이해하는 것은 중요한 의미가 있다. 그 결과 저소득층 여성들의 인문학습 경험의 의미를 (1) '나'를 둘러싼 환경에 대한 비판적 인식 : 왜곡된 상황 탈피 모색 (2) '어린 자아'와 조우 : 자아성찰과 치유 (3) 인간에 대한 이해의 폭 확장 : 타인과 소통의 통로 확보 (4) 새로운 시도와 일상의 변화 : 인문학습 경험의 지속이라는 네 가지 주제로 정리했다. 인문학습 경험은 저소득층 여성들에게 자신을 둘러싼 왜곡된 환경을 비판적으로 인식하고 탈피 혹은 극복하려는 노력이었으며 자존감 회복과 치유의 기회였다. 또한 여성 학습자들간 연대감 형성에 도움을 주었고 교육과정이 끝난 이후에도 자녀 뿐 아니라 본인과 다른 가치관을 지닌 사람들을 열린 마음으로 대할 수 있게 하는 등 일상생활의 변화로 이어졌다. 따라서 사회적 소외계층인 저소득층 여성들에게 이러한 학습경험을 제공해 주는 인문교육 과정이 지속적으로 운영되기 위해 안정적인 공적 지원 시스템 마련이 필요할 것이다. The study is a phenomenological exploration on what the humanities learning experiences mean for the low-income women participating in the humanities educational program provided by the 'A House of Sharing' which belongs to the Anglican church of Korea. It has an important significance to comprehend how the low-income women experience the humanities learning in the our society that there are the social-structural gender discrimination and social bias against women. The results of the study are as follows: (1) the critical recognition on the environment surrounding 'I': finding way to outgrow their distorted situation; (2) the encounter with 'young self': self-reflection and healing; (3) the expansion of the scope of the understanding of the human: ensuring the passage of communication with others; (4) the new trials and changes in daily lives: continuation of the humanities learning experiences. The humanities learning experiences mean the efforts to critically recognize and overcome the oppressive situation surrounding themselves, and the chances to recover and heal their self-esteem. It also led to the forming of a feeling of solidarity among the women learners, the open mind toward their children and the others holding different views with themselves, and the changes in their everyday. The building of the public supporting system, therefore, may be required in order to run continuously the humanities educational programs which provide meaningful learning experiences for the low-income women, the social alienation, as shown by the study.
