        모듈러 디자인을 기반한 지오 필릭 건축의 조형성에 관한 연구

        (연구 배경 및 목적) 모듈화 이론(Modularity Theory)은 최초 경영학 분야에서 만들어진 것으로, 초기에는 복잡한 문제를 해결하기 위한 사고방식이었으나, 후기에는 일종의 공업 디자인 방법으로 제조업에 많이 응용되었다. 모듈화 이론은 시스템을 여러 단위인 모듈러(Modular)로 나누고, 그 모듈러를 다른 시스템에 배치하여 사용하는 것이 특징이며, 공업화 건조 기술의 발전에 따라, 모듈러는 대규모로 표준화되어 생산될 수 있다. 이러한 모듈러 디자인(Modular Design)이 지닌 미학적 본질은 표준화와 맞춤화 사이의 연결에 있다. 이 개념은 건축 디자인 분야로도 확장되어 모듈러 빌딩(Modular Building)으로 추진되었는데, 최근 등장한 지오 필릭 건축(Geo-philic Architecture) 조형에서 모듈러 디자인의 경향이 나타났다. 이러한 경향은 지오 필릭건축이 지형과 주변 환경의 조화를 강조하는 '맞춤형 디자인'과 관련이 있다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 모듈러 디자인을 이론적 기반으로 지오 필릭 건축 조형 디자인에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 한다. (연구방법) 해석적 연구와 사례분석 방법을 사용하여, 먼저, 모듈러 건축의 발전사와 지오 필릭 건축의 개념과 특징을 정리한 다음, 지오 필릭 건축 조형과 모듈러 디자인의 융합에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하였다. 둘째, 모듈러 건축 발전의 맥락과 관련 이념을 정리함으로써 지오 필릭 건축 조형 디자인에 적용할 수 있는 시사점을 도출하여 양자 간의 응용 범위와 타당성을 탐구하였다. 이 연구는 모듈러 디자인의 영향을 받은 지오 필릭 건축의 조형미를 중점적으로 살펴본다. 셋째, 수집된 디자인 사례를 연구대상으로 지오 필릭 건축의 모듈러 조형 생성을 도해하여 설명하였다. 마지막으로, 상기 모듈러 조형 생성 과정을 바탕으로 지오 필릭 건축의 모듈러 조형 특성을 해석하였다. (결과) 첫째, 건축 조형의 요소·단위·조합·질서의 구성 체계가 명확해졌다. 지오 필릭 건축 조형과 모듈러 디자인의 융합이 검증되었다. 둘째, 병치(倂置)·평행 배열·폴딩·착란 중첩 등의 조합형식들이 지오 필릭 건축의 다양한 조형을 생성하는 이론적 토대가 되었다. 지오 필릭 건축과 지형의 복잡한 관계를 바탕으로, 모듈러 디자인의 구상은 이 문제를 효율적으로 처리할 수 있다. 셋째, 공간의 가변성, 건축과 경관의 모호성 및 조형의 질서적 미의식을 논술하였다. (결론) 첫째, 지오 필릭 건축의 조형 디자인은 모듈러 사유를 도입하는 것이 가능하다. 둘째, 모듈러 사유는 조형 디자인에 미적 특성을 부여할 수 있다. 마지막으로 모듈러는 지오 필릭 건축 조형의 혁신적인 디자인에 대한 참고자료로 제공할 수 있다. 본 연구는 모듈러 디자인을 도입함으로써 지오 필릭 건축 디자인에 더 많은 영감과 방향을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. (Background and Objectives) The modularity theory originated in the field of management, initially serving as a mindset for solving complex problems, but later it found widespread application in manufacturing as a form of industrial design method. The modularity theory involves dividing systems into modular units and arranging them within other systems, a characteristic that became standardized on a large scale with the advancement of industrial construction technology. The aesthetic essence of modular design lies in the connection between standardization and customization. This concept has also extended to the field of architectural design, driving the development of modular buildings. Recently, there has been a trend of modular design emerging in geo-philic architecture, which emphasizes 'customized design' that harmonizes with the terrain and surrounding environment. Based on this trend, this study aims to analyze the impact of modular design on the formative design of geo-philic architecture from a theoretical perspective. (Methods) Using analytical research and case analysis methods, this study first organized the development history of modular buildings and the concepts and features of geo-philic architecture, and then examined the theoretical background of the integration between geo-philic architectural formative and modular design. Secondly, by organizing the context of the development of modular architecture and related ideologies, the scope and validity of the two were explored by deriving implications that can be applied to geo-philic architectural formative design. This study focuses on the formative aesthetics of geo-philic architecture influenced by modular design. Thirdly, design cases were collected and analyzed to illustrate the process of generating geo-philic architectural modular formatives. Finally, based on the above process of modular formative generation, the modular formative characteristics of geo-philic architecture were interpreted. (Results) Firstly, the organizational system of architectural formative elements, units, combinations, and orders became clear. The integration of geo-philic architectural formative and modular design was validated. Secondly, combination forms such as juxtaposition, parallel arrangement, folding, and overlapping have become theoretical foundations for generating various geo-philic architectural formative. Based on the complex relationship between geo-philic architecture and terrain, the conception of modular design can effectively address this issue. Thirdly, the variability of space, the ambiguity between architecture and landscape, and the aesthetic consciousness of formative order were discussed. (Conclusion) Firstly, the formative design of geo-philic architecture can incorporate modular reasoning. Secondly, modular reasoning can impart aesthetic characteristics to formative design. Finally, modular design can serve as a reference for innovative design in geo-philic architectural formative. This study is expected to provide more inspiration and direction for geo-philic architectural design by introducing modular design.

        지속가능디자인을 위한 모듀랄리티 요소와 적용방식에 대한 연구

        본 논문은 모듀랄리티의 개념과 모듈러디자인의 개념적 · 물리적 결합방식, 지속가능디자인과 모듀랄리티 요소의 연관성, 그리고 지속가능디자인을 위한 모듀랄리티 요소의 활용방안을 논의함으로써 다양한 영역에서 향후 지속가능한 모듈러디자인제품이 개발될 수 있도록 이론적이고 체계적인 학술 자료를 제공하고자 연구되어졌다. 연구범위는 모듀랄리티의 어원 및 개념에 대한 이론적 고찰, 모듈러디자인의 개념적 · 물리적 결합방식 및 지속가능디자인과 모듀랄리티 요소의 연관성 분석, 그리고 지속가능디자인을 위한 모듀랄리티 요소의 활용방안에 대하여 논하며 결론에 이르고 있다. 연구방법은 인터넷을 이용한 국내외 정보 D/B 및 네트워크 검색, 논문과 단행본을 포함한 도서 · 출판물등 문헌조사를 통한 고찰 및 분석이 중심이 되었다. 연구의 내용과 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘모듀랄리티’는 컴퓨터나 공작 기계의 생산에 표준화 혹은 규격화된 부품을 사용하는 모듈방식을 의미하며, 모듈러디자인은 ‘모듀랄리티 인 디자인’에서 파생되어져 왔다. 둘째, 모듈러디자인의 결합방식은 크게 ‘독립성’과 ‘상호의존성’의 개념적 결합방식과 끼우기 · 쌓기, 나사 · 자석, 레일 · 프레임 등에 의한 물리적 결합방식으로 구별할 수 있다. 셋째, 각 모듈 개체간의 조합과 완성, 다양한 변화로의 유연한 가능성으로서 모듀랄리티 요소의 적용은 지속가능디자인의 확산과 가능성을 높일 수 있는 것으로 분석 되어졌다. 넷째, ‘다양성과 무한한 변형으로의 가능성을 통한 자연생태계의 복원’이라는 모듀랄리티의 핵심적 요소는 사용자 · 기업 · 환경의 측면에서 다양한 사용성과 적용성, 변형에 의한 새로운 기능과 가치를 만들어냄으로써 지속가능디자인의 개발과 발전에 활용되어 질 수 있음을 제시하였다. 본 연구가 모듀랄리티 요소 활용의 지속가능디자인제품 개발과 향후 모듈러디자인시장 확대를 위한 이론적 · 체계적 분석 자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다. This article is designed to offer theoretical data and definite analysis materials for extensive development of sustainable modular design product in diverse areas by considering about theoretical researches of modularity concept, an analysis on conceptual • physical cohesion methods of modular design and a correlation between sustainable design and modularity factor, and how to use of these modularity factors for sustainable design. Main scopes of this article are formed with a theoretical study on an etymology and concept of modularity, an analysis on conceptual • physical cohesion methods of modular design and a correlation between sustainable design and modularity factor, and finally come to the conclusion through a considering about how to use of these modularity factors for sustainable design. The main method of this article is to review and analyze the data from internet D/B in domestic and abroad, and variety of literatures including thesis, books, periodicals and the other publications. The summary of contents and results of this article are as below. First, ‘modularity’ represents a system of module utilizing component of normalization or standardization for computer and handcraft into something machine operators, and modular design is derived from ‘modularity in design’. Second, cohesion method of modular design is widely classified to a conceptual cohesion system including ‘independency’ and ‘interdependency’, and physical cohesion system by inserting • piling, screwing • magnetic, rail • framing. Third, applying with modularity factors, that takes a diverse change along with flexible capacity through unifying & completing an each module component, could improve and expand a possibility of sustainable design. Fourth, the key factors of modularity, ‘ along with diversity and feedback - possibility for infinite transforming - in supporting resilience’, could be utilized as a tool for developing of sustainable design to deliver the various usabilities and applications, and creating a new function and value through transformation for all of user • company • environment. It was expected that this paper would be utilized as theoretical • systematic data for developing sustainable design product applied by the modularity factor and expanding the marketability of a modular design in domestic and abroad.

        A Study on Spatial Modularization Characteristics of Bouroullecs’Furniture Design

        (Research Background and Purpose) The Bouroullec brothers are a designer duo representing France and gaining a global presence. They drew attention to their new orientation toward the boundary between objects and space and their sustainable design, and the design method they used for this was modularization. The purpose of this study is to present the possibility and significance of mutually interconnected development by specifying the relationship between furniture and space by analyzing the characteristics and methods of expression of territoriality among the spatial characteristics contained in the modular furniture designs of the Bouroullec brothers. (Research method) In the theoretical review in Chapter 2, we understand the basic concept of a module and identify its extended meaning and use area. After that, the definition of modular furniture used in this study is clarified, and 5 characteristics of modular furniture design are derived based on the analysis of previous studies. In Chapter 3, after understanding the background and philosophy of Bouroullec Design, we classify the modular furniture design types. In Chapter 4, the relevant case is selected, and the case analysis of Bouroullec modular furniture design is carried out based on the analysis frame, and the results are synthesized. (Research Results) Spatial modular furniture design types that appeared in Bouroullec furniture design were divided into four types: physical boundary formation, cognitive domain creation, repetition of the same module, and functional diversification. First, the physical boundary formation type has low variability and functional diversity, while the economic efficiency and interconnectivity of modularization are high, and can be flexibly arranged and assembled according to environmental conditions. Second, the type of cognitive domain formation used mediating factors that help recognition, such as light and shadow. It revealed high variability and flexibility to be installed flexibly depending on the module's combination method. Third, the same-module repetition type is a representative modular furniture type of Bhuulek's design. In order to differentiate each design, diversification of the combination method, materials, properties, color arrangement, pattern, etc. were used as variables. Infinite expansion of scale and form is possible. Installation economical is high. Fourth, the functional diversification type can form a single functional zone or area by varying the combination of functional modules depending on what purpose or plan is used, and shows flexibility and high economic feasibility at the same time. (Conclusion) The spatial design of the rapidly changing modern society must be able to change according to the change pattern and speed. The Bouroullec brothers suggested the possibility of actively coping with the changes in various ways through the modularization of furniture design. It is expected that the modularization method will have the meaning as a direction for the development of space and furniture design.

        모듈러 디자인의 가치와 지속 가능성 연구 : 공간 디자인 사례를 중심으로

        This study was conducted to seek the desirable direction of development of modular space design, and to explore and derive key principles, values, and future-oriented characteristics that modular space design should actively pursue in the future. To this end, this study analyzed the following contents. First, the concept, meaning, characteristics and industrial effects of module, modular, and modular design were studied theoretically and in literaturally. Second, in order to explore the principles of modular space design development, the study analyzed and researched cases of creating successful results by applying modular design with a focus on trends and in-depth cases of architectural space as well as cases and in-depth cases involving the basic elements and decorative elements of the field of indoor spatial design. Third, modular space design cases were comprehensively organized by dividing modular design contents and effects, and based on the analyzed and organized contents, each orientation principle and value were discussed and comprehensively evaluated and analyzed. The core principles, values, and characteristics of modular space design derived through case analyses are summarized in terms of economics, functionality, interaction with human users, environmental friendliness, and sustainability. Through these considerations, this study demonstrates that the future-oriented modular space design should enhance the physical, emotional and psychological well-being and happiness of human users, while ensuring and reinforcing open and interactive communication and interaction between humans and environment, spaces, and should actively pursue 'Design for Humans'. Through the realization of these human-centered and user-friendly principles and characteristics, modular space design will be able to contribute to improving the universal quality of life for humans and the ideal interaction between humans and the environment. It is hoped that the contents and conclusions of this study will be utilized as effective theoretical and practical guidelines that can lead the sustainable development of modular design. 본 연구는 모듈러 공간 디자인의 바람직한 발전 방향성을 모색하고, 향후에 모듈러 공간 디자인이 적극 추구해야 할 핵심적인 원리, 가치, 미래 지향적 특성 등을 모색· 도출하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를위해 본 연구는 다음과 같은 내용 중심으로 고찰하였다. 첫째, 모듈, 모듈러, 모듈러 디자인의 개념과의미, 특성, 산업적· 공업적 효과를 이론적, 문헌적으로 연구하였다. 둘째, 모듈러 공간 디자인의 발전원리를 탐색하기 위해, 모듈러 디자인을 적용하여 성공적인 결과물을 창출한 사례들을 건축 공간의 트렌드 및 심층사례와 실내 공간 디자인 영역의 기본요소 및 장식요소 사례 및 심층사례 중심으로 분석· 연구하였다. 셋째, 모듈러 공간 디자인 사례를 모듈러 디자인 내용과 효과를 구분하여 종합 정리 하였고, 분석 정리된 내용을 바탕으로 각각의 지향 원리 및 가치를 거론하여 종합평가 분석 하였다. 사례 분석을 통해 도출한 모듈러 공간 디자인의 핵심 원리, 가치, 특성 등을 경제성, 기능성, 인간 사용자들과의 상호 작용성, 환경 친화성, 지속 가능성 등으로 종합 정리하였다. 이러한 고찰을 통해, 본 연구는 미래 지향적 모듈러 공간 디자인은 인간 사용자의 신체적, 정서적, 심리적 안녕감과 행복감을 증진시키는 동시에, 인간과 환경, 인간과 공간 간의 개방적, 쌍방향적 소통과 상호 작용을 보장하고 강화하는 ‘인간을 위한 디자인’을 적극 지향할 것을 제언하였다. 이러한 인간 중심적, 사용자 친화적 원리와 특성의 구현을 통해, 모듈러 공간 디자인은 인간의 보편적인 삶의 질 개선, 인간과 환경 간의 이상적인 상호 작용 증진에 기여할 수 있을 것이다. 모듈러 디자인의 지속 가능한 발전을 이끌 수 있는 유효한 이론적, 실무적 지침으로 활용되기를 기대한다.

        3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인에 관한 연구

        While 3D printing, which is advantageous for multidisciplinary small-volume production, is suitable for meeting the needs of diversified consumers, in fashion, due to limitations in output size and material, appropriate application proposals such as easy-to-combine and print-style designs are needed. Therefore, the point of this study was to find ways to apply modular pattern design under the theme of lace where three-dimensional texture design is possible through a combination of modules using 3D printing, and to propose modular race pattern design works that verify possibility and validity through prototype proposal as a result. The results of the study showed that the design of the modulator pattern using 3D printing was possible because the race pattern had three-dimensional characteristics and consisted of repeated combinations of modules such as units. Second, through the modular race pattern design process using 3D printing established in this research paper, prototype works 1, 2, 3 were produced to verify the possibility. Third, modular lace pattern design works using 3D printing were found to have modularity characteristics of array type, assembly type and overlay type. The resulting conclusion is that the modular race pattern design proposal, first of all, to seek alternatives to 3D printing thresholds from a fashion perspective, is an extension of the method and scope of expression of textual design. And in the characteristics of modular race pattern design works using 3D printing, array type can list or rearrange the modules of race pattern with basic texture design method, creating various rule patterns of texture design. In addition, the assembly type is easy to apply to the part decoration or detail of fashion design, and can be combined and dismantled, so it can be autonomously combined according to design concept planning without economic waste of materials, allowing suggestions to expand the area of textual design. Finally, the superposition can expand the creative design because it emphasizes the three-dimensional nature of the lace pattern, enabling the search for a differentiated design. 다품종 소량생산에 유리한 3D 프린팅은 다양화 되고 있는 소비자의 니즈를 충족시키기에 적합 하지만 패션에서는 출력 사이즈와 소재의 한계 때문에, 출력과 조합이 용이한 택스타일 디자인과 같은 적절한 적용 제안이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈의 조합을 통해 입체적인 텍스타일 디자인이 가능한 레이스를 주제로 모듈러 패턴 디자인 적용 방법을 모색하고, 프로토타입 제안을 통해 가능성과 타당성을 검증한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인 작품을 결과로 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 결과는, 첫째, 레이스 패턴은 입체적인 특성을 가지고 유닛과 같은 모듈이 반복적으로 조합되어 구성되기 때문에 3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈러 패턴 디자인이 제안이 가능하였다. 둘째, 본 연구애서 정립한 3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인 프로세스를 통해 프로토타입 작품 1, 2, 3을 제작하여 가능성을 검증하였다. 셋째, 3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인 작품은 배열형, 조립형, 중첩형의 모듈화 특성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따른 결론은 먼저 패션 관점에서 3D 프린팅 한계점의 대안 모색을 위한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인 제안은 텍스타일 디자인의 표현 방법과 영역의 확장이라는 의의를 가진다. 그리고 3D 프린팅을 활용한 모듈러 레이스 패턴 디자인 작품의 특성에서 배열형은 기본적인 텍스타일 디자인 방식으로 레이스 패턴의 모듈을 나열 또는 재배열하여 텍스타일 디자인의 다양한 규칙 패턴을 창출할 수 있다. 또 조립형은 패션 디자인의 부분 장식이나 디테일 적용에 용이하고 조합과 해체가 가능하기 때문에 소재의 경제적 낭비 없이 디자인 컨셉 기획에 따라 자율적으로 조합할 수 있어 텍스타일 디자인의 영역 확장 제안이 가능하다. 마지막으로 중첩형은 레이스 패턴의 입체성을 강조하여 차별적인 디자인 모색이 가능하기 때문에 창의적인 디자인을 확장시킬 수 있다.

      • Client-centered detached modular housing: natural language processing-enabled design recommender system

        Designing modular housing is a complex task that necessitates a thorough understanding of the diverse needs of clients in terms of both design aesthetics and floor plan layout. Furthermore, adhering to design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) principles adds to the complexity, as these are essential modular home requirements. Traditional construction methods frequently fail to meet the specific needs of both clients and DfMA, potentially resulting in suboptimal design solutions. Incorporating client requirements during the design phase necessitates the use of an effective system and framework to reduce changes in subsequent project stages. Existing literature lacks a suitable approach, particularly in the context of modular housing. To address this gap, this paper introduces an artificial intelligence–building information modeling recommender system (RS) for detached modular housing design. The system processes client requirements entered as text utilizing the Word2vec algorithm with the GloVe dataset, refined through transfer learning using surveyed client data of housing needs. The system recommends three distinct modular building design alternatives sourced from a building information modeling models database using cosine and Euclidean similarity functions. A sensitivity analysis ensures that client needs are considered fairly, increasing the robustness of the RS. By incorporating natural language processing, this system transforms the construction industry by making initial designs more client-centric compared with traditional methods. Furthermore, it promotes improved collaboration among clients, design, and construction teams, reducing modifications to design in later stages of construction.

        유사도 개념을 이용한 다목적 모듈화 설계법

        At present, the significance of a new manufacturing system that can shift from 'mass production' and consider life cycles of a product is pointed out and extremely expected. In such a situation, it is recognized that the modular design, often called 'unit design,' is the important design methodology which realizes the new production system enabling 'cost reduction,' 'flexible production of a multi-functional artifact,' 'settlement of an environmental issue,' and so on. A module (unit) of a product is generally defined as 'the parts group made into the sub-system from a certain specific viewpoint.' So far, there have been many researches related to the modular design. However, they are often limited to a certain viewpoint (objective). This paper proposes a simple but effective method for multi-objective modular design. In the proposed method, a new design metric, called similarity index, is proposed to evaluate the modular design candidates from the multiple viewpoints.

        형상문법(Shape Grammar)을 활용한 패션디자인 연구

        The term 'module' is an architectural term. It refers to the components or systems that make up a finished product. As industries develop, modules have become one of the methods that can create diverse and creative designs. Traditional modular fashion design mainly focused on structural methods, such as the combination, assembly, overlap, and arrangement of modules, as well as the tessellation of geometric shapes. However, in this paper, significance lies in exploring the application of shape grammar, a design method in architecture, to fashion design. It aims to search for ways to express three-dimensional designs, derive designs that can be worn and produced, and propose fashion design by applying the rules of shape grammar to the design process. Through this analysis, the paper aims to examine the methods and characteristics of shape grammar. The research method of this paper is as follows. First, by utilizing optimized programs for implementing the modules of shape grammar, it was possible to propose a method for producing modules of shape grammar and suggest module designs. Additionally, effective methods of representation using the Clo 3D program were explored in the design development process. Second, by applying shape grammar to the fashion design process, fivedimensional modular fashion designs were proposed, including a bolero, dress 1, dress 2, setup, and coat. The proposed modular fashion design using shape grammar in this paper provides a rational design process that differentiates itself from traditional modular fashion design. By formalizing the shapes between modules and creating rules, it overcomes the limitations of design that rely on the designer's intuition or sensibility and enables the development of more diverse modular fashion designs. This application of shape grammar in fashion design can provide an important direction in exploring a sustainable fashion industry.

        한국 전통 의복에 나타난 모듈러 디자인 특성 연구

        The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of modular design observed in Korean traditional clothing. Modular design, which is one of the noticeable characteristics of modern fashion design emerged in the 20th century. This study analyzed the Korean traditional culture to investigate the characteristics that show similarities to the modular system in design. A traditional Korean house is composed of small structures called 'chae'. A traditional Korean building is composed of a basic unit space called 'kan', and the rooms are divided and recombined. Korean traditional interior design shows furniture, bedding and art works that could be used, folded then stored. Korean cuisine is served in combination with small dishes. Korean letters are combined in square shaped form to make writing and printing easy. Korean traditional clothing has a way of washing where clothing are disassembled, washed and then re-stitched. The pattern pieces are made to be rectangular shaped so that the fabric pieces can be kept in shape during washing. The rectangular shaped pattern pieces can be replaced and reused after washing. Tops and bottoms could be interchanged for color-coordination, because the shapes of the clothing were standardized. These features exhibit modular system in Korean traditional clothing design. Modular system design has common characteristics which have basic modules, pursue practical purpose, have interchangeability adapted to circumstances, and could be disassembled and re-combined. Korean traditional clothing illustrates different ways of practicing modular system, but has some common features to contemporary modular fashion design.

        모듈과 웨어넷을 이용한 유비쿼터스 패셔너블 컴퓨터 디자인 연구- 탈ㆍ부착을 이용한 모듈러 시스템을 중심으로 -

        Design is related to every area including art, engineering, science, and humanics but has its focus areas alternate according to the technological advancements. The movement has been accelerated in the information era. Today design concentrates its attention to the user demands and needs rather than science and technology. Ubiquitous fashionable computer is one of the natural flows stemming from that paradigm change of the times. But even that kind of new design can't escape from the conventional framework if the modules and WearNet, which are the hardware of UFC, are not detachable. Thus there is a need for the structural design of multi-functional clothes by utilizing reconstructable modules and detachable WearNet that's communication route among modules. By taking advantage of detachable modules and WearNet, one can lead the infusion of next generation IT technology and fashion and open the door to a new UFC era that's human friendly and fashionable. Thus this study set the following goals; first, to develop UFC design guidelines by reflecting the user demands and needs and using detachable modules and WearNet; second, to take a survey to identify the evaluation items for the guideline items and suggest a new UFC design to meet the user needs based on the detailed improvements; and third, to suggest a UFC modular system using detachable and thus reconstructable modules and WearNet according to the user's taste. Chapter 4 covered the following sections of the entire design process: scenario development→concept development→design progress→prototype development→test of the integration between clothes and hardware→making UFC clothes→incorporating hardware into UFC clothes. The process of making UFC clothes was divided into clothes design and product design, and the research contents and design directions of each stage were examined in terms of technology and design. As a result, one piece of each male and female UFC clothes that could be worn on the college campus or at a conference was made using detachable modules and WearNet. The third generation UFC clothes is based on the modular system that can attach and detach modules, WearNet, and the constituents of clothes and presents the UFC design of a new concept as a flexible clothing system that can change many ways according to the situations of daily life. It's significant that it's a new design approach to establish a UFC design process in the viewpoint of fashion and define such UFC design elements as silhouette, material, color, and technical detail in terms of clothes and products design.
