        Thymoma is associated with myasthenia gravis, Pure red cell aplasia, and autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, and hypogammaglobulinemia. It's association with aplastic anemia is rare and aplastic anemia appearing after surgical removal of thymoma is especially rare. The authors hereby report a case of aplastic anemia occuring in a patient who was diagnosed with thymoma and myasthenia gravis and had the tumor surgically removed. The patient was treated with anti-thymocyte globulin, cyclosporin, and prednisolone, and showed partial remission with hematologic improvements after 12 months.

        The purpose of this study was to compare internship satisfaction of intern physical therapists working in the university hospitals with that of them working in the rehabilitation hospitals in Seoul metropolitan area. The questionnaire for internship satisfaction survey that amended from vocational interest test [Strong Interest Inventory(SII)] was used to examine satisfaction of intern physical therapists and the questionnaire was used to ask general characteristics, educational and work environment. Thirty nine intern physical therapists working in university hospital and fifty nine intern physical therapists rehabilitation hospital in Seoul metropolitan area responded. Frequency analysis, χ² test and independent t-test were conducted to evaluate differences between groups about variables of internship satisfaction survey, general characteristics, work and educational environments with using the PASW 18.0 statistical program. The results of the study were as follows. There were significant differences of intern physical therapists between university hospitals and rehabilitation hospitals in overall scores of internship satisfaction and scores of all sub-items such as duty, supervision, working condition, work mates and wages. Intern physical therapists working in the university hospitals showed higher satisfaction than that of Intern physical therapists working in the rehabilitation hospitals.

      • 실시간 태스크의 마감시간 만족을 위한 캐쉬 메모리의 최적 분할 형태의 분석

        본 논문은 실시간 시스템에서 주기 및 비주기적 태스크들의 마감시간 만족을 위한 캐쉬 메모리의 최적 분할 형태를 얻음으로써 태스크들에 대한 메모리 가용성을 늘릴 뿐 아니라 유휴 메모리 사용공간을 다른 태스크들에게 충분히 할당하여 마감시간 위반율을 줄이는데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 실시간 태스크들을 캐쉬 메모리의 분할 공간상에 최적으로 할당될 수 있도록 하기 위해 캐쉬 메모리 분할 알고리즘을 제시한다. 연구의 결과를 도출하는 과정으로 실시간 태스크들이 할당될 수 있는 다양한 캐쉬 메모리의 분할 형태들과 이들에 대한 태스크의 최소 가용 비용들을 얻는다. 이를 기반으로하여 실시간 태스크들에게 각각 주어진 마감시간 이내에서 실행을 할 수 있는지를 Rate Monotonic 스케쥴링 알고리즘을 응용하여 스케쥴링 가능한 캐쉬 메모리 분할 형태들을 모두 얻고, 이들로부터 스케쥴링 가능한 가용비용의 한계범위와 최소의 가용비용을 갖는 캐쉬 메모리 최적 분할형태를 보였다. This paper presents a study on the cache(memory) partitioning configurations for meeting deadlines of periodic and aperiodic task set. The purpose of this study is not only to increase the cache utilization, but also to decrease the deadline missing ratio of each task. We discuss the optimal cache partitioning problems for real-time task set. Base on the task execution time and utilization, we suggest the cache partitioning algorithm which computes the segment allocation for a given task set, respectively. The schedulability of task set depends upon task properties and the algorithm used to schedule the tasks. Here, we used the rate monotonic scheduling algorithm modified for considering all periodic tasks and aperiodic tasks together. We checked whether tasks assigned on the configurations are possible to meet the their deadlines or not. We obtained the schedulable configurations, and analyzed the utilization bound of the cache optimal partitioning configuration which the task set is schedulable if its utilization is below a certain bound.

        브라켓과 탄선 간의 마찰 전후 표면 변화 분석 : 원자현미경을 이용한 예비연구

        브라켓과 호선 간에 발생하는 마찰은 치아 이동의 효율에 상당한 영향을 미친다. 마찰력에 기여하는 요소 중 특히 브라켓과 호선의 표면조도는 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구는 브라켓과 탄선을 실험적으로 마찰시킨 후, 원자현미경 (atomic force microscope, AFM)을 사용하여 브라켓 슬롯과 교정용 탄선의 표면 조도 변화를 정성적, 정량적으로 측정하고 비교 평가하여 브라켓과 호선 간의 마찰이 각각의 표면 변화에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 시행되었다. 스테인리스 스틸 브라켓과 세라믹 브라켓에 각각 스테인리스 스틸 탄선과 TMA 탄선을 실험적으로 활주마찰시킨 후 각각을 원자현미경을 이용하여 표면을 관찰하였다. 실험결과 브라켓보다는 교정용 탄선에서 활주마찰 후에 더 많은 표면 변화가 나타났다. 또한 활주마찰 후에 스테인리스 스틸 브라켓은 표면 조도의 유의한 변화가 없었으나 세라믹 브라켓은 표면 조도가 감소하였다. 그리고 교정용 탄선은 모두 활주마찰 후에 표면 조도가 증가하였으며 이러한 표면 변화는 스테인리스 스틸 브라켓보다 세라믹 브라켓과의 활주마찰 후에 더 큰 것으로 관찰되었다. 본 실험으로 원자현미경은 브라켓 슬롯과 탄선의 표면 조도를 정량적으로 측정하는 데에 유용한 수단임을 알 수 있었다. Objective: The surface roughness of orthodontic materials is an essential factor that determines the coefficient of friction and the effectiveness of tooth movement. The aim of this study is to evaluate the surface roughness change of the brackets and wires after experimental sliding quantitatively. Methods: Before and after experimental sliding tests, the surface roughness of stainless steel brackets, ceramic brackets, stainless steel wires, and beta-titanium (TMA) wires were investigated and compared using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Results: After sliding tests, changes in the surface of the wire were greater than changes in the bracket slot surface. The surface roughness of the stainless steel bracket was not significantly increased after sliding test, whereas the roughness of ceramic brackets was decreased. Both the surface roughness of stainless steel and TMA wires were increased after sliding test. More changes were observed on the ceramic bracket than the stainless steel bracket. Conclusions: AFM is a valuable research tool when analyzing the surface roughness of the brackets and wires quantitatively.

      • 악성림프종 환자에서 복합화학요법으로 유발된 백혈구 감소증에 대한 인형 재조합 과립구 집락형성-촉진인자(rhG-CSF: Neutrogin)의 효과

        Clinical effects of rhG-CSF were investigated in 17 patients receiving chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Patients were given G-CSF 2㎍/㎏/day after 2nd cycle chemotherapy for least 14 consecutive days, and clinical and laboratory results were compared to results of the first cycle. Treatment with G-CSF resulted in increase of mean WBC count(952.9±152.2㎜³vs 1882.4±350.4/㎜³) and neutrophil count(212.9±53.0/㎜³vs 841.5±238.0/㎜³), reduced the duration of leukocytopenic days(12.4±1.3 days vs 5.5±1.0 days, WBC count less than 4000/㎜³) and neutropenic days(4.5±0.9 days vs 2.3±0.7 days, neutrophil count less than 500/㎜³), and reduced the duration of neutropenic fever(5.8±1.1 days vs 0.9±0.5 days). The side effects of G-CSF were not so significant. These results demonstrated that G-CSF is safe and useful for the treatment of neutropenia induced by anticancer chemotherapy of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and reducing the incidence of febrile periods and duration of antibiotic administration.

      • 고콜레스테롤 혈증 환자에서 Cerivastatin(LIPOBAY, 의과학연구소)의 임상효과 및 안전성에 관한 연구

        목적 : Cerivastatin(LIPOBAY)은 최근에 개발되어 사용되기 시작한 HMG-CoA 환원효소 억제제로서 저용량으로 탁월한 콜레스테롤 강하효과를 보이는 약물이다. 저자들은 Cerivatatin(LIPOBAY)의 혈중 콜레스테롤 강하효과를 평가하고 약물의 안전성을 평가하기 위하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방법 : 고콜레스테롤혈증 환자 37명(남자 13명, 여자 24명)을 대상으로 하였다. 대상환자는 2주간의 저콜레스테롤 식이 후에도 혈청 콜레스테롤이 240㎎/㎗이상이거나, 관상동맥질환이 있는 환자는 혈청콜레스테롤이 220㎎/㎗이상인 경우 cerivastatin 0.4㎎을 8주간 복용하도록 하였다. 임상적 관찰과 검사실 검사(간기능검사, 일반혈액검사, 혈청지질검사)는 투약개시 후 4주 및 8주 후에 시행하였다. 결과 : Cerivastatin 0.4㎎을 4주간 투여한 후 측정한 LDL 콜레스테롤, 총콜레스테롤, triglyceride, 및 HDL 콜레스테롤은 각각 38%, 28.8%, 11.6% 및 7.8% 감소하였다. 총콜레스테롤/HDL 콜레스테롤 비 및 LDL/HDL비는 각각 20.8% 및 31.1% 감소하였다. 투약 8주후에 측정한 검사소견은 4주후에 비해 유의한 변화를 보이지 않았다. 한명의 환자(2.7%)에서 간기능 검사상 AST, 및 ALT의 지속적인 상승으로 투약을 중지하였다. 결론 : Cerivastatin 0.4㎎/day는 혈청콜레스테롤을 효과적으로 감소시켰으며 심각한 부작용은 볼 수 없었다. 따라서 적극적으로 LDL콜레스테롤을 낮출 필요가 있는 고콜레스테롤혈증 환자에서 cerivastatin은 효과적이고 안전한 약물이라고 생각된다. Objectives : Cerivastain(LIPOBAY) is recently developed HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor which is effective in lowering serum cholesterol levels at microgram does. We evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of cerivastatin(LIPOBAY) in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Method : Thirty-seven patients(male : 13, female : 24) with hypercholesteolemia defined as baseline serum total cholesterol ≥240㎎/㎗, or ≥220㎎/㎗ in patients with known coronary artery disease were included for this study. After 2 weeks of low cholesterol diet, if the serum total choesterol level meet the criteria, cerivastain 0.4㎎/day was prescribed for 8 weeks. Clinical follow-up and laboratory tests were performed 4 weeks and 8 weeks after medication. Results : After 4 weeks of cerivastain 0.4㎎/day treatment, low density lipoprotein(LDL) cholesterol decreased 38% and total cholesterol decreased 28.8% from baseline. Triglyceride decreased 11.6%, and high density lipoprotein(HDL) cholesterol decreased 7.8% from baseline. Total cholesterol/HDL ratio decreased 20.8% and LDL/HDL ratio decreased 31.1% from baseline. After 8 weeks of treatment, no further significant changes were noted compared with the values at 4 weeks. Cervastatin was discontinued in one patient(2.7%) due to continuous liver enzyme elevation. Conclusion : Cerivastatin 0.4㎎/day is effective in lowering serum cholesterol levels without significant adverse reactions. Cerivastatin is effective and safe for patients with hypercholesterolemia who needs aggressive LDL cholesterol lowering.

        Fabrication of Multicomponent Protein Microarrays with Microfluidic Devices of Poly(dimethylsiloxane)

        Recently, the multi-screening of target materials has been made possible by the development of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging method. To adapt this method to biochemical analysis, the multi-patterning technology of protein microarrays is required. Among the different methods of fabricating protein microarrays, the microfluidic platform was selected due to its various advantages over other techniques. Microfluidic devices were designed and fabricated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) by the replica molding method. These devices were designed to operate using only capillary force, without the need for additional flow control equipment. With these devices, multiple protein-patterned sensor surfaces were made, to support the two-dimensional detection of various protein-protein interactions with SPR. The fabrication technique of protein microarrays can be applied not only to SPR imaging, but also to other biochemical analyses.

        Molecular Epidemiology of Legionella pneumophila Isolated from Bath Facilities of Public Establishments in Seoul

        The genus Legionella is common in aquatic environments. Some species of Legionella are recognized as potential opportunistic pathogens for human, notably Legionella pneumophila that causes Legionellosis. During the summer season between June and August in 2010, we isolated 61 L. pneumophila from the bath facilities of public establishments of 25 wards in Seoul. The existence of 16S rRNA and mip gene of L. pneumophila was confirmed in the genome of the isolated strains by PCR. Among the 61 strains of L. pneumophila, thirty three isolates belong to serogroup 1 (54.1%), 13 isolates were serogroup 6 (21.3%), 9 isolates were serogroup 5 (14.8%), 3 isolates were serogroup 3 (4.9%), and 3 isolates were identified in serogroup 2 (4.9%). On pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) analysis using SfiI, genetic types of L. pneumophila were classified into 8 (A to H) patterns by the band similarity with excess of 65%. Our results suggest the existence of serological and genetic diversity among the L. pneumophila isolates.
