For the physiological study on environmental impact of genetically modified (GM) pepper plant on non-target but three-trophically related insect species, we investigated behavioral responses of Aphis gossypii and Aphidius colemani in Y-tube olfactometer to the cucumber mosaic virus (CMV)-resistant transgenic pepper plant (H15 GM line) expressing coat protein gene of CMV and its wild type pepper plant (untransformed, susceptible to CMV pathotype II, P2377 inbred line) in relation to CMV infection. CMV-infected plants were prepared with the 30 min of inoculation by the winged A. gossypii viruliferous or mechanical inoculation using CMV-Fny, and with molecular diagnosis using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) over 2 weeks after inoculation. In this study, time for attraction responses (attraction time) of A. gossypii were not significantly different in the pepper strain, and the virus infection of plant. However, the attraction time of A. colemani was significantly different between the GM plant and the non-GM plant. In addition, the attraction time of A. colemani to the GM plant was significantly decreased according to the CMV infection. For further study, the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by these plants were collected with an entrainment kit and analyzed by Gas Chromatography (GC) on HP-1 column. The specific VOCs related to CMV infection were detected in the GM plant over 4 weeks after inoculation of CMV in this study. Thus, it is suggested that VOCs of the GM plant in this study may be produced more as a signal attracting A. colemani in relation to CMV infection.

The physical and rheological properties of thermoplasticized irradiation-crosslinked polyethylene foam using supercritical methanol treatment were investigated by GPC, FTIR, DSC, WAXS, DMTA and UDS. The polyethylene foam was selectively decrosslinked into thermoplasticized polyethylene in an appropriate supercritical methanol condition without any undesirable side reactions such as oxidation and disproportionation. The thermoplasticization was promoted with increasing reaction temperature to reach completion above $380^{\circ}C$. The supercritical reaction condition affected the crystallization behavior, and mechanical and rheological properties of the decrosslinked polyethylene foam, but not its crystallographic structure or crystallinity.
Outcomes and prognostic factors of surgically treated extramammary Paget’s disease of the vulva

Objective: Extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD) of the vulva is a rare disease which predominantly presents in postmenopausal Caucasian women. As yet, no studies on Asian female patients with EMPD have been performed. This study aimed to identify the clinical features of patients with vulvar EMPD in Korea, and to evaluate the risk factors of recurrence and postoperative complications in surgically treated EMPD. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 47 patients with vulvar EMPD who underwent wide local excision or radical vulvectomy. The clinical data and surgical and oncological outcomes following surgery were extracted from medical records and analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses for predicting recurrence and postoperative complications were performed. Results: 21.3% of patients had complications after surgery, and wound dehiscence was the most common. 14.9% of patients experienced recurrence, and the median interval to recurrence from initial treatment was 69 (range 33–169) months. Vulvar lesions larger than 40 mm was the independent risk factor of postoperative complications (odds ratio [OR]=7.259; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.545–34.100; p=0.012). Surgical margin status was not associated with recurrence in surgically treated vulvar EMPD patients (OR=0.83; 95% CI=0.16–4.19; p=1.000). Conclusion: Positive surgical margin is a frequent finding in the patients with vulvar EMPD, but disease recurrence is not related with surgical margin status. Since EMPD is a slow growing tumor, a surveillance period longer than 5 years is required.
통합조직의 효과성에 대해 조직의 특성이 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

This paper measures the integrated organization’s effectiveness and analyzes the impact of integrated organization’s traits on integrated organization’s effectiveness in the case of Korea Rural Community Corporation which was integrated in the year of 2000. For integrated organization’s effectiveness, I set up four variables such as policy adjustment, organizational learning, administrative efficiency and organization satisfaction. For integrated organization’s traits, I set up seven variables which belong to four sub-factor such as organization formation, organization trust, organization leadership, and organization culture. I analyze the relations of these variables. As a result, I come to find out two facts as follows. Firstly, integrated organization’s effectiveness is slightly over the average level. Secondly, most of organization’s traits affect the integrated organization’s effectiveness greatly. By comparing the results of analysis with other data, I can find the following fact that Korea Rural Community Corporation is as strong as the other quasi-government organizations, in the impact of the four factors (such as goal specificity, work specialization, personnel justice, and collective culture) on the integrated organization’s effectiveness. Also, I suggest some policy options related to organization’s traits for raising integrated organization’s effectiveness.

초임계 메탄올에서 가교폴리프로필렌의 탈가교 반응에 대해 연구하고 이를 가교폴리에틸렌의 탈가교 반응과 비교하였다. 회분식 반응기를 이용하여 반응 온도와 초기 겔 함량이 탈가교 반응 속도에 미치는 영향을 알아보았고, 정량적 분석을 위해 반응 전후의 겔 함량을 측정하였다. 반응 온도가 증가할수록, 초기 겔 함량이 증가할수록 탈가교 반응속도가 증가하였고, 반응 속도는 겔 함량에 선형적으로 의존하였다. 가교폴리프로필렌의 탈가교 반응이 가교폴리에틸렌보다 빠르게 일어나는 것을 확인하였고, 반응속도상수를 계산하여 이를 정량적으로 확인하였다. 이를 통해 재활용측면에서는 가교폴리프로필렌이 가교폴리에틸렌보다 우수한 것을 알 수 있다

<P>The effect of various solvents on the de-cross-linking reaction of cross-linked polyethylene under subcritical and supercritical conditions was studied. The gel content of the de-cross-linked polyethylene decreased from 60 to 0.8–2.5% at 380 °C within 5 min in all of the solvents tested in this study. When water, ethanol, and 2-propanol were used, the <I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB> of the de-cross-linked polyethylenes decreased from 349,000 to 200,000–227,000 g/mol, and much lower <I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB> values of 70,000–90,000 g/mol were observed when acetone and diisopropyl ether were used. The de-cross-linked polyethylenes treated in the different solvents had a very similar chemical structure to raw polyethylene. According to a kinetic study using a first-order reaction model, the de-cross-linking rate in each solvent increased in the order 2-propanol < ethanol < <I>n</I>-hexane < water < methanol ≪ diisopropyl ether ≪ acetone at 350 °C.</P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/ie4006194'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
