Research on prefabricated concrete beam-column joint with high strength bolt-end plate

        Li Shufeng,Zhao Di,Li Qingning,Zhao Huajing,Zhang Jiaolei,Yuan Dawei 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.74 No.3

Many prefabricated concrete frame joints have been proposed, and most of them showed good seismic performance. However, there are still some limitations in the proposed fabricated joints. For example, for prefabricated prestressed concrete joints, prefabricated beams and prefabricated columns are assembled as a whole by the pre-stressed steel bar and steel strand in the beams, which brings some troubles to the construction, and the reinforcement in the core area of the joints is complex, and the mechanical mechanism is not clear. Based on the current research results, a new type of fabricated joint of prestressed concrete beams and confined concrete columns is proposed. To study the seismic performance of the joint, the quasi-static test is carried out. The test results show that the nodes exhibit good ductility and energy dissipation. According to the experimental fitting method and the “fixed point pointing” law, the resilience model of this kind of nodes is established, and compared with the experimental results, the two agree well, which can provides a certain reference for elasto-plastic seismic response analysis of this type of structure. Besides, based on the analysis of the factors affecting the shear capacity of the node core area, the formula of shear capacity of the core area of the node is proposed, and the theoretical values of the formula are consistent with the experimental value.

Experimental study on a new type of assembly bolted end-plate connection

        Shufeng Li,Qingning Li,Haotian Jiang,Hao Zhang,Lei Yan,Weishan Jiang 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.26 No.4

The bolted end-plate beam-column connections have been widely used in steel structure and composite structure because of its excellent seismic performance. In this paper, the end-plate bolted connection is applied in the concrete structure, A new-type of fabricated beam-column connections with end-plates is presented, and steel plate hoop is used to replace stirrups in the node core area. To study the seismic behavior of the joint, seven specimens are tested by pseudo-static test. The experimental results show that the new type of assembly node has good ductility and energy dissipation capacity. Besides, under the restraint effect of the high-strength stirrup, the width of the web crack is effectively controlled. In addition, based on the analysis of the factors affecting the shear capacity of the node core area, the formula of shear capacity of the core area of the node is proposed, and the theoretical values of the formula are consistent with the experimental value.

Effects of Water-Soluble Ganoderma lucidum Polysaccharides on the Immune Funtions of Patients with Advanced Lung Cancer

        Shufeng Zhou,Yihuai Gao,Wenbo Tang,Xihu Dai,He Gao,Guoliang Chen,Jinxian Ye,Eli Chan,Hwee Lling Koh,Xiaotian Li 한국식품영양과학회 2005 Journal of medicinal food Vol.8 No.2

Preclinical studies have established that the polysaccharide fractions of Ganoderma lucidumhave potential an-titumor activity. Recent clinical studies have demonstrated that G. lucidumpolysaccharides enhance host immune functions[e.g., enhanced natural killer (NK) cell activity] in patients with advanced solid tumors, although an objective response wasnot observed. This open-label study aimed to evaluate the effects of water-soluble G. lucidumpolysaccharides (Ganopoly??,Encore International Corp., Auckland, New Zealand) on immune functions in patients with advanced lung cancer. Thirty-sixpatients were enrolled and treated with 5.4 g/day Ganopoly for 12 weeks. In the 30 cancer patients who completed the trial, treatment with Ganopoly did not significantly alter the mean mitogenic reactivity to phytohemagglutinin, mean counts of CD3,CD4, CD8, and CD56, mean plasma concentrations of interleukin (IL)-2, IL-6, and interferon (IFN)-., or NK activity in thepatients, but the results were significantly variable. However, some cancer patients demonstrated markedly modulated im-mune functions. The changes in IL-1 were correlated with those for IL-6, IFN-., CD3, CD8, and NK activity (P. .05), andIL-2 changes were correlated with those for IL-6, CD8, and NK activity. The results suggest that subgroups of cancer patientsmight be responsive to Ganopoly in combination with chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Further studies are needed to explore theefficacy and safety of Ganopoly used alone or in combination with chemotherapy/radiotherapy in lung cancer patients.

Self-Assembly of Coil-Rod-Coil Triblock Copolymers Depending on Lateral Methyl Groups at the Interface of Rod and Coil Segments

        Shufeng Fan,Long Yi Jin,Zhuoshi Wang,Chengfan Li,Yongri Liang,Tie Chen 한국고분자학회 2015 Macromolecular Research Vol.23 No.10

Triblock coil-rod-coil compounds, consisting of four biphenyls and a p-terphenyl unit linked together with ether bonds as a rod segment, incorporating lateral methyl or ethoxymethyl groups at 2 and 5 positions of the benzene ring of p-terphenyl and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with a degree of polymerization of 7, 12, 17, incorporating lateral methyl groups between the rod and coil segment as the coil segments, were synthesized. The compound structures were characterized with 1H NMR and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectroscopy. The self-assembling behavior of the compounds is investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), and optical polarized micrograph (POM) in the bulk state. These compounds spontaneously self-assemble into lamellar, hexagonal perforated lamellar, rectangular columnar, and oblique columnar structures in the crystalline phase, and hexagonal perforated lamellar, bicontinuous cubic, and oblique columnar structures in the liquid crystalline phase, respectively. The results revealed that the lateral methyl groups attached to the interface of rod and coil segments strongly induce the compounds to self-assemble into various supramolecular nanostructures in the crystalline phase and the liquid crystalline mesophase.

Electrochemistry of Hemoglobin in the Chitosan and TiO2 Nanoparticles Composite Film Modified Carbon Ionic Liquid Electrode and Its Electrocatalysis

Sun, Wei,Li, Xiaoqing,Liu, Shufeng,Jiao, Kui Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.3

Direct electron transfer of hemoglobin (Hb) in the chitosan (CTS) and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles (nano-$TiO_2$) composite films was achieved by using a room temperature ionic liquid of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ($BMIMPF_6$) modified carbon paste electrode (CILE) as the basal electrode. UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopy indicated that Hb in the film retained the native structure. Electrochemical investigation indicated that a pair of well-defined quasi-reversible redox peaks of Hb heme Fe(III)/Fe(II) was obtained with the formal potential located at -0.340 V (νs. SCE) in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution (PBS). The electrochemical parameters such as the electron transfer coefficient (α), the electron transfer number (n) and the standard electron transfer rate constant ($k_s$) were got as 0.422, 0.93 and 0.117 $s^{-1}$, respectively. The fabricated CTS/nano-$TiO_2$/Hb/CILE showed good electrocatalytic ability to the reduction of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$), which exhibited a potential application in fabricating a new kind of third generation biosensor.

The Impact of Clostridium Histolyticum Collagenase on the Prevalence and Management of Peyronie’s Disease in the United States

        Andrew J. Sun,Shufeng Li,Michael L. Eisenberg 대한남성과학회 2019 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.37 No.2

Purpose: We evaluated the impact of collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) on rates of diagnosis, treatment, and corpo-ral rupture in Peyronie’s disease (PD). We examined the impact of CCH on cost of PD treatment. Materials and Methods: We extracted data on PD diagnosis (ICD-9 607.95 and ICD-10 N48.6), corporal rupture (ICD-9 959.13 and ICD-10 S39.840A), CCH use (J0775), penile injections (CPT 54200), and corporal rupture repair from 2008 to 2016 in men over 40 years old using the Clinformatics® Data Mart Database (3.7 to 4.9 million males). We analyzed for prevalence of PD, rates of PD treatments, cost associated with treatment, and rates of corporal rupture and repair by year. Results: The prevalence of PD was 0.29% in 2013 and did not increase after CCH entered the market in 2014. An average of 2.52% of men with PD received treatment before CCH, compared with 3.75% after (p<0.0001). Penile injection rates increased (1.34% vs. 2.61%, p<0.0001), while rates of surgical treatments decreased between these periods. There was no change in rate of corporal rupture in men with PD before (0.024%) and after (0.024%) CCH. Overall, only 20.0% of corporal ruptures were repaired. After CCH entered practice, a significant increase in cost occurred (p=0.013). Conclusions: The prevalence of men with PD did not change after CCH. However, more men with PD received treatment due to an increase in penile injections. The cost of treating PD increased after CCH became available. The overall prevalence of corporal rupture did not change after CCH entered the market.

Demographics, Usage Patterns, and Safety of Male Users of Clomiphene in the United States

        David P. Guo,Dimitar V. Zlatev,Shufeng Li,Laurence C. Baker,Michael L Eisenberg 대한남성과학회 2020 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.38 No.2

Purpose: The aim of this study was to characterize the demographics, usage patterns and complication rates of clomiphene use in male patients. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed male patients from ages 20 to 55 years old who were prescribed clomiphene citrate from 2001 to 2014 using the Truven Health MarketScan, a US claims database. We collected data regarding associated medical diagnoses, diagnostic testing, duration of use, and reported side effects including thrombotic events, vision problems, gynecomastia, mental disorders, liver disease, nausea, or skin problems. Results: In total, 12,318 men took clomiphene and represented the primary study cohort, with a mean age of 37.8 years. The percentage of men prescribed clomiphene increased over the study period, as did the average age of clomiphene users. Associated diagnoses included male infertility (52.0%), testicular hypofunction (13.5%), erectile dysfunction (2.4%), and low libido (0.4%). Associated testing included semen analysis (43.7%), testosterone (23.5%), luteinizing hormone (19.3%), and follicle-stimulating hormone (21.1%) levels. The median time of clomiphene use was 3.6 months, with 63% of men stopping within 6 months. No increased risk of reported clomiphene side effects were apparent in men taking the medication. Conclusions: There is a rising prevalence of clomiphene usage without associated adverse side effects in the US. The variability in associated diagnoses, diagnostic testing, and duration of use suggest a need for greater awareness of the proper evaluation and treatment of the men who are prescribed clomiphene.

MgAl2O4-reinforced c-ZrO2 ceramics prepared by spark plasma sintering

        El-Amir Ahmed A. M.,Li Shufeng,Abdelgawad Mahmoud,Ewais Emad M. M. 한국세라믹학회 2021 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.58 No.5

c-zirconia ceramic composites have been synthesized by spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique from commercial m-ZrO 2 , Y 2 O 3 and waste-derived magnesium aluminate spinel (MA) powders. In this study, eff ect of MA addition on stabilization and reinforcement of 5 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was carefully investigated. Spark plasma sintering of designed powder mixtures at 1400 °C for 30 min and 40 MPa produce fully dense compacts with an average grain size of 0.5–10 μm. The pressure was gradually increased up to 40 MPa using argon gas and was kept until the end of the sintering process. The refi ned microstructure (0.5–10 μm) obtained in this study has achieved superior compaction resistance values that are ten times more than strength values of conventionally sintered specimens. Such improvement in compaction resistance of the sintered specimens was attributed to particle size refi nement and grain boundary enhancement. What’s more, spark-plasma sintered composites containing 10–50 wt% MA revealed higher resistance to low temperature degradation (LTD) than the reference composite that doesn’t contain MA spinel; where about ~ 2.8% of t-ZrO 2 was converted into m-ZrO 2 in case of the latter composite while aging test didn’t infl uence at all on the structure of the former composites. The outcomes indicated that MA has a signifi cant eff ect on m-ZrO 2 stabilization into a cubic phase structure that concurrently owned an enhanced and comparable compression resistance to Yttrium-doped t-ZrO 2 (Y-TZP). In this respect, the ternary oxide ceramic composite systems prepared in this study present huge potential for development c-ZrO 2 -based industrial ceramics with a wide spectrum of mechanical characteristics for high-tech engineering applications of harsh-stress and humid environments.
