We estimate the economic benefit of weather modification (precipitation enhancement and fog dissipation) by assuming its operation for the considered regions. Based on the statistical data, the economic benefit of the virtually operational precipitation enhancement experiments for the Andong and Imha basins, where the natural precipitation is relatively lack in South Korea, is calculated 348 for the water resources, 22,458 for forest fire prevention, and 28,458 million won/year for the drought relief. The benefit of the fog dissipation operation for the Incheon International Airport is estimated 7,365 million won/year for the flight delay due to fog. The calculated ratio of benefit to cost for precipitation enhancement operation for the basins is 14.07, which is comparable to that conducted in other countries.

Analysis of Air Circulation in Oyster Mushroom Farm
Jeong, Won-Geun,Lim, Hack-Kyu,Kim, Tae-Han Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery 2012 바이오시스템공학 Vol.37 No.2
Oyster mushroom farm which could not meet optimum temperature range yields non-uniform sized, low quality products. Thus, this study, utilizing STAR CCM+, one of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs, analyzed the impact of air circulation and temperature distribution. Methods: After we visited numerous mushroom farms, we measured the temperature at the discharge ports of heaters, fan capacity, and the locations of the air circulators in the farms. According to the data, most mushroom growers installed the heaters near the entrance and discharge ports of the heaters at the third growing bed on the same height as the heaters in the entrance. The temperature at the discharge port of heater was $1,26^{\circ}C$, and the fan capacity was 4,500 $m^3$/hr. The air circulator was placed in the center of the mushroom farm 50cm above the ground, and its capacity of inlet port was 1,100 $m^3$/hr and discharge port 1,600 $m^3$/hr. The mushroom farm was insulated. Results: According to the analysis of the temperature distribution in the vertical plane of the entrance side, no air circulation causes the high temperature zone of 296~299K at the discharge port of the heater to take up 34% of area while the operation of air circulators causes it to occupy only 9%. This means that not using air circulators leads to a concentration of high temperature at the discharge port near the entrance. In addition, with the results of the analysis of the temperature distribution in the vertical planes of the center, no air circulation causes the temperature zone of 295~298K at the discharge port of the heater to take up 48% of area while the operation of air circulators causes it to occupy 80%. This shows that the high outlet port temperature disseminated to the center. Conclusions: After ninety minute operation of both heater and air circulator, the interior temperature became stabilized in the mushroom farm. Air circulation made the high temperature at the discharge port disseminate to the center and exit in the farm and equalize the temperature distribution.

Herein, we report a facile and robust route to nanoscale tunable triboelectric energy harvesters realized by the formation of highly functional and controllable nanostructures via block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly. Our strategy is based on the incorporation of various silica nanostructures derived from the self-assembly of BCPs to enhance the characteristics of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) by modulating the contact-surface area and the frictional force. Our simulation data also confirm that the nanoarchitectured morphologies are effective for triboelectric generation.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Five-year clinical outcomes of drug-eluting stents according to on-label and off-label use
( Kyu Hwan Park ),( Ung Kim ),( Chan Hee Lee ),( Jang Won Son ),( Jong Seon Park ),( Dong Gu Shin ),( Young Jo Kim ),( Jeong Hwan Cho ) 대한내과학회 2016 The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine Vol.31 No.4
Background/Aims: To compare the clinical outcomes of ‘on-label’ and ‘off-label’ drug-eluting stents (DESs) over a 5-year follow-up period. Methods: A total of 929 patients that underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with DESs were enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups according to on-label (n = 449) and off-label (n = 480) indications. Off-label use was defined as implantation of DESs for acute myocardial infarction (MI), very small vessel, a long stenotic lesion, chronic total occlusion, a bifurcation lesion, an ostial lesion, left main coronary artery disease, multivessel disease, a saphenous vein graft lesion, and a lesion with thrombus. Endpoints were composite of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs), which included all-cause death, ischemic-driven target vessel revascularization (Id-TVR), MI, and stent thrombosis (ST). Clinical outcomes in the two groups were compared for up to 5 years postimplantation. Results: At 1 year postimplantation, the off-label group had higher incidences of total MACEs (8.2% vs. 3.7%, p = 0.005), Id-TVR (5.0% vs. 1.6%, p = 0.004), and ST (1.7% vs. 0.3%, p = 0.042), and at 5 years postimplantation, the off-label group continued to have higher incidences of total MACEs (17.5% vs. 9.4%, p < 0.001), Id- TVR (13.1% vs. 5.8%, p = 0.024), and ST (2.1% vs. 0.3%, p = 0.021). Multivessel disease and diabetes were found to be independent risk factors of MACE in patients with an off-label indication. Conclusions: Patients treated with an on-label DES had better long-term clinical outcomes than those treated with an off-label DES.
