        The Role of Mean Platelet Volume as a Predicting Factor of Asymptomatic Coronary Artery Disease

        Background: Platelet has been known as an implicating factor in the pathophysiology of atherosclerotic disease. Larger platelets are more reactive and produce more prothrombotic factors. Several studies have shown relationship between mean platelet volume (MPV) and coronary artery disease. The present study has been designed to investigate association of MPV and subclinical CAD (coronary artery disease; abnormal finding in coronary multidetector computed tomography [MDCT] in asymptomatic individual). Methods: This cross sectional study was carried out in 103 men and 72 women (over 40 years old) who underwent coronary MDCT as screening test for disease prevention in the health examination center of Hanyang University Medical Center in Korea from January 1 to April 30, 2009. Subclinical CAD was defined when either of the following findings are present in asymptomatic patients: 1) plaque or calcification, 2) stenosis of any level. After adjustment for age, gender, hypertension,diabetes, BMI, smoking (pack-years), LDL cholesterol, odds ratios (ORs) for the prevalence of the subclinical CAD were calculated for quintiles of MPV using logistic regression analysis. Results: After adjustment for age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, BMI, smoking (pack-years), LDL cholesterol, the OR for subclinical CAD, comparing the fifth quintile of MPV with the first quintile, was 5.83 (95% confidence interval, 1.51 to 22.42; P = 0.010). Conclusion: Highest level of MPV is independently associated with the prevalence of the subclinical CAD after adjusting for other risk factors.

        포도 탄저병균의 엽면접종을 통한 국내 육성 포도나무의 품종 간 저항성 검정 및 유전적 다양성 분석

        본 연구는 품종 간 변이의 폭이 좁은 포도속(Vitis spp.) 유전자원을 대상으로 탄저병 저항성 품종을 판 별하기 위해 국내 주요 재배 품종 및 유전자원 159품종을 공시하고,Colletotrichum acutatum과 C. gloeosporioides를 엽면접종하여 병원성 검정을 수행하였다. 또한, Genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS) 방 법을 이용하여 포도나무 품종 간 유전적 다양성을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, C. acutatum을 접종한 잎에서는 58품종은 감수성을, 17품종은 저항성을 나타내었고, C. gloeosporioides를 접종한 경우에는 34품 종이 감수성을, 25품종은 저항성을 나타냈다. 두 균주에 대해 공통적으로 저항성을 보인 품종은 ‘Agawan’, ‘Huangguan’, ‘Xiangfei’ 등 8품종이였으며, 이들 대부분은 유럽종과 미국종의 교잡종으로 분류되었다. 유럽종에 기원한 ‘Emerald Seedless’, ‘Tano Red’, ‘Rem 46-77(Aestivalis GVIT 0970)’ 등의 품종들은 대부분 감수성으로 판별되었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과를 통해 확보된 병 검정 및 유전 분석 결과는 포도나무 병해를 효과적으로 관리하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있으며, 특히 포도나무 탄저병 저항성 품종들을 개발하고 육성하는데 매우 중요한 육종 소재 및 정보가 될 것으로 사료된다. Here, we reported 159 varieties of major cultivars using grapevine genetic resources to identify the resistant grape ripe rot cultivars. To do this, we performed pathogenicity assays from these grape cultivars by inoculating Colletotrichum acutatum and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS) method was also used to compare genetic diversity among grape varieties. As a result, leaves inoculated with C. acutatum showed that 58 cultivars were susceptible, while 17 cultivars were resistant. In the case of C. gloeosporioides, 34 cultivars were found to be susceptible, while 25 cultivars were resistant. The 8 cultivars that showed resistance to both species were ‘Agawan’, ‘Huangguan’, ‘Xiangfei’, and 5 other cultivars from the hybrids of European and American species. Most of the varieties such as ‘Emerald Seedless’, ‘Tano Red’, and 'Rem 46-77(Aestivalis GVIT 0970)' originated in European species were identified as susceptible. These results can be used in the effective management of grape disease. In addition, these findings provide information for the development and cultivation of resistant to grape ripe rot disease cultivars.

        한국형 유산균 Bifidobacterium 속 균주의 항생물질에 대한 감수성

        Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Bifidobacterium spp. strains (Bifidobacterium breve K-110, B. breve K-111 and B. infantis K-525) isolated from healthy Korean against antituberculosis agents and fluoroquinolones were determined. From the MICs it was found that Bifidobacterium breve K-110, B. breve K-111 and B. infantis K-525 were susceptible to rifampicin and fluoroquinolenes and resistant to other antituberculosis agents.

        사회공포증의 사이버 집단상담 효과

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of cyber group therapy for social phobia. The setting was a closed user group on internet site in which 4-6 clients including a counselor were assigned. A total of 34 clients participated at the beginning and 2 dropped, and remaining 22 clients, 18 with social phobia as experimental group and 4 in control group, had been surveyed to the end of the study. Ten 90 minute sessions of cyber group therapy, which was primarily focused on cognitive behavioral treatment, were conducted over a 5-week period. The clients were given e-mailed reading material for review before each session and were assigned homework after the group therapy. An 24 hour accessible cyber-bulletin board was prepared for the clients to post their assignment results. Outcome was assessed on measures of Social Avoidance and Anxiety Scale(SADS), Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale(FNE), State Trait Anxiety Inventory, Dysfunctional Test, based on the client responses on a questionnaire answered at the beginning and closing of the study. After the study, the clients were also asked to answer the open-type questionnaire to evaluate the study in terms of assessment of program. The findings of the study demonstrated that change, in this cyber group therapy, was detected with a significant reduction in phobia symptoms on entire outcome measures. The clients satisfaction with the session program was also high, marking 4 in the questionnaire anchored to 5-point rating scale. The main treatment reason was attributed to easy access to psychological information, self-understanding and then generality of the study. The results are interpreted as supporting the efficiency of group therapy in cyber space, which could induce changes in cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects associated with social phobia. Further study is needed to examine the usefulness and a specific role of this group therapy in addition to traditional treatment method for social phobia.

        애기장대 Nit유전자 발현 오이 형질전환체 개발

        To produce transgenic cucumber expressing Nit gene coffering abiotic resistance, the cotyledonary-node explants of cucumber (cv. Eunsung) were inoculated with A. tumefaciens transformed with pPZP211 or pCAMBIA2300 carrying Nit gene, that has cis-acting element involved in resistance to various abiotic environmental stresses. After co-cultivation, the procedures of selection, shoot initiation, shoot elongation, and plant regeneration were followed by cotyledonary-node transformation method (CTM, Jang et al. 2011). The putative transgenic plants were selected when shoots were grown to a length greater than 3 cm from the cotyledonary-node explants on selection medium supplemented with 100 mg/L paromomycin as a selectable agent. The confirmation of transgenic cucumber was based on the genomic PCR, Southern blot analysis, RT-PCR, and Northern blot analysis. A 105 shoots (4.12%) selected from the selection mediums were obtained from 2,547 explants inoculated. Of them, putative transgenic plants were only confirmed with 45 plants (1.77%) by genomic PCR analysis. Transgenic plants showed that the Nit genes integrated into each genome of 39 plants (1.53%) by Southern blot analysis, and the expression of gene integrated into cucumber genome was only confirmed at 6 plants (0.24%) by RT-PCR and Northern blot analysis. These results lead us to speculate that the genes were successfully integrated and expressed in each genome of transgenic cucumber.

        복합 비애(Complicated Grief)의 개념과 진단

        Complicated grief is defined as a deviation from the normal symptoms of grief. CG has been subsumed under major depressive disorder or posttraumatic stress disorder. However, there has been a broad consensus that existing diagnoses are not sufficient for CG. A number of research groups have shown that how complicated grief is distinguished from those disorders and demonstrated that CG constitutes a distinct psychopathological diagnostic entity. The purpose of this study is to review current concepts of CG and empirical evidences of CG, and its related issues. 복합 비애(Complicated Grief, 이하 CG)란 사별 후 나타나는 정상적이고 문화적으로 받아들여지는 애도 과정을 벗어나 지속적인 심리적․신체적 부적응을 야기하는 비애 반응을 말한다. 지금까지는 비애 반응이 주로 우울장애나 외상후 스트레스 장애와 같은 기존의 진단체계 내에서 이해되곤 하였으나, 여러 연구결과들을 통해 기존의 진단으로는 CG에서 나타나는 독특한 증상을 반영하지 못한다는 지적이 계속되어 왔다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 CG라는 새로운 개념, CG를 기존의 진단 체계로 분류하려고 할 때의 제한점, CG가 PTSD 진단만으로 부족한 이유, 독립적인 CG 진단의 필요성 및 경험적 근거들, 잠정적으로 합의된 진단 기준과 CG 진단이 치료적으로 어떤 중요한 의미를 갖는지를 개관하여 소개함으로써 아직까지 우리나라에서는 본격적으로 논의된 바가 없는 CG에 대한 관심을 고취하고자 한다.

      • 3D Magic Mirror 작품을 이용한 인터랙티브 아트 설계 및 구현

        Digital art is recent genre from high technology and cultural development and one of the most unlimited growing fields. An audience becomes more interested in digital art as time goes by. Computer technology results in interaction development in interactive art. In this paper, we use 「Magic Mirror」, which is worked by Maurits Cornelis Escher, for creating interactive art 3D 「Magic Mirror」. Maurits Cornelis Escher was a Dutch graphic artist. 3D 「Magic Mirror」 is out of existing 2D 「Magic Mirror」 and has an infinite sense of space. We make to broaden vision of appreciating 「Magic Mirror」 and sublimate hided artistic merit in novel artistic merit. An optical illusion is one of special features in works of Escher. Before, A cause of optical illusion in 「Magic Mirror」 isn't found out by an audience easily. However, in 3D 「Magic Mirror」, an audience has a find it in no time at all then we make it obvious. And we added another fresh artistic merit which is animating objects in 3D 「Magic Mirror」. 새로운 예술인 디지털 아트는 시간이 흐를수록 관객이 많은 흥미를 느끼고 기술적으로나 예술적으로나 무한한 발전을 거듭하고 있는 예술분야 중 하나이다. 기술의 발전은 인터랙티브 아트에서 작품과관객과의 상호작용에 날개를 달아주는 결과를 낳았는데 본 논문에서는 기하학적 원리와 수학적 개념을 토대로 자신의 상상에서 비롯된 내적 이미지를 표현한 네덜란드 판화가․화가인 Maurits Cornelis Escher의 「Magic Mirror」를 사용하여 인터랙티브 아트 작품을 구현한다. 2D 작품인 Magic Mirror에서벗어나 3D로 구현하여 작품을 보는 시각을 넓히고 평면적 작품에 숨겨졌던 예술적 가치를 승화시켜내어 새로운 예술적 가치를 이끌어내었다. Escher 작품의 큰 특징 중 하나인 착시의 원인을 「Magic Mirror」에서는 관객이 쉽게 찾을 수 없었으나 3D아트로 재창조시켜 원인이 분명해질 수 있었고 이 오브젝트들을 애니메이팅 시켜 또 다른 예술적 가치를 더하였다. 관객의 직접 참여를 유도하는 인터랙션에 초점을 두어 작품을 구현하여 단지 전시만을 목적으로 하던 「Magic Mirror」에서 벗어나 3D 「 Magic Mirror」는 관객과 소통할 수 있었다.
