        Fabrication of Cell Sheets with Anisotropically Aligned Myotubes Using Thermally Expandable Micropatterned Hydrogels

        Although many efforts have been made to engineer cell sheets with anisotropic patterns, current techniques still exhibit several shortcomings including uncontrolled harvest time and deformation of pattern by contraction. In this study, we report a simple method to harvest a cell sheet with a striated structure of extracellular matrix (ECM) and myoblasts using a thermosensitive hydrogel micropatterned with different sizes (25 and 80 μm). The hydrogel supported the formation of a confluent monolayer of myoblasts with aligned morphology. When the temperature was reduced from 37 to 4 oC, the size of the hydrogel increased by approximately 1.2-fold within 10 min. In response to this change, a cell sheet was harvested and could be transferred to the desirable substrate through conformal contact between the hydrogel and target. We further examined the effect of pattern size on alignment of ECM/ cell assembly by fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis of fluorescently stained stress fibers and ECM proteins within the harvested cell sheet. The cell sheet maintained alignment of confluent myoblasts after being harvested to the substrate. In addition, the topologic patterns also promoted formation of aligned myotube on the harvested cell sheet, which was important for muscle tissue regeneration. However, the pattern size appeared to have no influence on alignment of cells on the cell sheet. Finally, a bi-layered structure was fabricated in which each layer was stacked with aligned direction on the cell sheet being perpendicularly assembled. Collectively, our platform could be used for rapid harvest of cell sheets with aligned architecture of ECM/cell, which can be applied to fabrication of welldefined 3D tissue for tissue engineering.

        마블링 문양을 적용한 글라스 타일 디자인개발에 관한 연구

        한국의 인테리어용 글라스 타일 업계는 IMF사태이후 제조업체의 대량 도산이 진행되었다. 그 결과 디자인 개발력의 취약점이 지속적으로 노출되고 고부가가치 제품은 유럽의 업체에, 저가격의 대량생산 제품은 중국 업체에 시장을 잠식당하여 산업의 기반이 흔들리는 상황에 처해있다. 생산방법도 판유리를 이용한단조로운 퓨징(fusing)기법에 제한되어 있어 상품디자인의 다양성을 상실하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 본 디자인개발 연구는 제조기법에 있어서 일반적인퓨징 방법에서 탈피하여 금형(mold) 활용을 제조기반으로 하고 유리를 이용한 마블링(marbling) 문양을 도입하여 차별화된 이미지 구현을 통한 디자인 경쟁력을 확보하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 소재 적용에 있어서는 국내 탄광지역에서 개발된 석탄폐석으로 개발된지역특화 유리와 다양한 색상의 공예용 유리의 조합을 통해서 친환경 이미지를 부각하여 마케팅 측면의강점으로 활용하고자 하였다. 또한 디자인 개발에 있어서 개발방향이나 콘셉트의제시에 그치지 않고 실제로 시험 제작을 통하여 상품화 과정에서 도출될 수 있는 문제점을 파악하여 차기개발 모델의 참고자료로 활용하고자 하였다. The korean glass tile industry for interior design has experienced the large bankruptcy after IMF crisis. Consequently the achilles heel in the field of design development forces has been consistently exposed. The european industry took over the field of high value-added product and the chinese industry took over the field of mass product with low price. Therefore the foundation of the industry is at a critical moment. The aim of this study on the development of design is the guarantee of competitive power through differentiated image realization. In here it is important, to use the mold and to introduce the marbling mark. In the application of material we would use the strong point in the marketing in the combination of the regional specified glass and arts glass with diverse colours. The regional specified glass is developed by coal refuse in the area of domestic coal mine and has eco-friendly image. We would not only present the way of development or concept in the design development, but also make reference material for the model of future development by means of test production and the understanding the scope of the problems in the process of commercializing

        재가 중증 뇌졸중 환자를 돌보는 주 보호자의 삶의 질

        Objective: To evaluate the level of depression, anxiety and quality of life in primary caregivers for the severe stroke patients. Method: We studied a sample of 44 severe stroke patients and their primary caregivers. Functional status of the severe stroke patients was evaluated by Modified Barthel Index (MBI). We collected the data through interviewing the caregivers and using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State- Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Ego-strength scale, Short Form Health Survey-36 (SF-36) and Family APGAR (Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection and Resolve) score. Results: The average level of depression in caregivers was low. The mean socres of STAI were 41.5 for state anxiety and 44.3 for trait anxiety, respectively. Ego-strength scale was significantly inversely related to BDI score and trait anxiety inventory score, but positively related to SF-36 score. The most influencing factor for the SF-36 score was the BDI score. Conclusion: Primary caregivers for the home-bound severe stroke patients demonstrated a lower level of quality of life, especially mental health, general health and vitality component. Community based rehabilitation should more focus on the evaluation and support for caregiver's psychologic status and their quality of life.

      • 석탄폐석 유리를 활용한 친환경 글라스 타일 디자인개발

        한국의 인테리어용 글라스 타일시장은 브랜드 파워를 가지고 있는 고가격의 유럽제품과 중국, 동남아 등에서 생산되는 저가의 상품 유입으로 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 극소수의 글라스 타일업체가 공예적인 방법을 통한 상품개발을 시도하며 활로를 모색하고 있으나 차별화된 디자인 및 소재개발의 어려움을 극복하지 못하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 공예적 기법을 통한 글라스 타일의 개발은 대량생산 및 표준화 측면에서 문제점을 가지고 있지만 특정화된 고객을 대상으로 주문형 상품개발이 가능하고 고급성 및 희소가치로 인하여 부가가치를 높일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 글라스 타일개발은 소재 측면에서 국내의 탄광지역에서 석탄을 채굴하는 과정에서 발생되는 폐석으로 제작된 친환경 유리와 공예용 유리를 조합하여 활용하고 이미지적인 측면에서는 우리의 전통 공예품인 나전칠기의 주소재인 자개의 자연스럽고 차별화된 느낌을 현대적인 감각으로 재구성 하였다. The interior glass tile market in Korea has undergone a great deal of difficulties due to a brand image of high-cost European products and the inflow of low-cost products by Chinese and East Asian countries. In spite of strenuous efforts by some glass tile companies which develop new products through craft techniques, they still experience the limitation of creative design and difficulty of new material development. Though the development of glass style through the craft technology has some problems in terms of mass production and standardization, this area can be successful in that it can target for the particularized customers depending on order-based production and scarcity value as a work of art. The present glass tile is produced by combining the environmentally friendly glass and craft glass which were made by coal refuse in coal mining areas. The glass tile gives natural and classy atmosphere by introducing the characteristics of the traditional Korean lacquerware inlaid with mother-of pearl.

        의왕시 거주 재가 등록 장애인의 삶의 질과 만족도

        Objective: The purposes of this study were to investigate the factors influencing life satisfaction and quality of life (QOL) of the disabled persons and to help the planning and evaluation of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). Method: Data were collected through personal interviews of 503 registrated disabled persons in Uiwang City. Demographic variables and scores of modified Barthel index (MBI), modified Lambeth disability screening questionnaire (MLDSQ), Craig handicap assessment and reporting technique (CHART) and life domain satisfaction measure (LDSM) were obtained. Results: The score of LDSM was 4.0±1.0. Life satisfaction was related to the age, sex, employment status, severity of disability, educational level, housing and residence, level of instrumental activities of daily living and social integration. MLDSQ score was the most strong predictor of life satisfaction (p=0.00) followed by social integration (p=0.001) and total CHART scores (p=0.017). And the factors influencing the handicap were monthly income, severity of disability, employment, level of education and age. Conclusion: Based on our study, we suggest that the CBR program of Uiwang City need to focus on improving functional ability and social skill of disabled individual and housing, and also promoting their vocational and educational status.

        세계유산 고인돌 유적지 공공시설물 디자인 개발 연구

        세계문화유산으로 등록되어 있는 고창, 강화, 화순 고인돌 유적지는 역사·문화적 가치를 인정받았음에도 불구하고 임기응변식의 안내시설물들의 설치로 인해 정보의 제공 및 역할을 제대로 수행하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 세계문화유산으로서의 경쟁력 강화를 위해서는 고인돌 유적에 대한 안내판 디자인 개발이 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 세계유산의 품격에 맞는 고인돌 유적지의 안내판 디자인을 개발하여 문화·역사적 가치를 기반으로 한 디자인 방향을 도출하여 고인돌 유적지의 이미지를 수립하는데 있다. 이러한 공공디자인 개선을 통해 고인돌 유적지의 관람환경을 개선하고, 세계문화유산의 품격에 맞는 시설물로 인해 국내·외 관람객들에게 우리 문화유산에 대한 인식을 새롭게 할 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 제안된 세계문화유산 안내판디자인은 고인돌 유적의 성역화, 신성화된 이미지로서의 공간 인식을 기반으로 하여, 유적과 자연 경관의 조화를 우선시한 절제되고 품격있는 디자인을 개발하고자 하였다. 디자인 개발을 위해 크게 형태, 재질, 색상, 폰트를 기준으로 하여 접근하였는데, 형태적으로는 단순하고 절제되어 유적과 조화를 이루도록 하였고, 재질은 재질의 수명과 내구성 등 유적·자연과 조화를 이루되 고인돌 유적과 구별되도록 하였다. 색상은 사용범위를 최소화하였으며, 폰트는 문화재청에서 기존 개발한 기준값을 참조하여 한글서체는 윤고딕, 영문은 Universe 57Condensed로 설정하였다. 이러한 내용을 토대로 탁자식 고인돌을 디자인 모티브로 한 모던하고 절제된 Slanting type의 안내판 디자인을 개발하게 되었다. 본 연구의 결과로 인해 우리 문화유산의 공공디자인 개발과 활용 및 발전에 도움이 되기를 바란다. Dolmen sites of Gochang, Ganghwa and Hwasun registered as UNESCO World Heritage have been recognized of their historic and cultural values, but they are failing to perform the role as public areas due to reckless installation of facilities. Therefore, in order to create an international sympathy and reinforce competitiveness as World Heritage, a public design for dolmen sites must be developed. The purpose of this study is to deduce a design course based on cultural and historic values and to establish the image of Dolmen sites for development of a public design for Dolmen sites. Through such improvement in public design, tour environment of Dolmen sites can be improved. By elevating Dolmen sites to the level appropriate for World Heritage, the author of this study aims to prepare an opportunity to renew the recognition of domestic and international tourists on our cultural heritages. The scope of this study was selected as Gochang, Ganghwa and Hwasun regions with domestic Dolmen sites that are currently registered as World Heritage. General status of Dolmen sites was studied based on various research data and papers, and public design status of Dolmen sites was investigated through field study. The part on cases of public design development for domestic cultural heritages was prepared based on policy and press data of Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, focusing on palaces, royal tombs, ancient mounds and temples for which public designs are being developed. The course of design is configured accordingly and the scope of this study is limited to guidance facilities. Based on the study contents, a practical public design for Dolmen sites is proposed. Through further studies, additional designs for convenience and protective facilities must be researched. Studies on guidance facilities considered in this study must also be followed.
