Statement of problem : Tooth wear is physiological phenomenon. Ninety-seven percent of normal people have tooth wear and about 7% has pathologic teeth wear. If we know the amount of tooth surface loss caused by pathologic tooth wear, we may restore it ideally Purpose : Recently measurement of tooth wear by using 3D scan has been increasing. Therefore, we need to know how accurate 3D scan is. Past accuracy test on 3D scan was about linear change, but as we know that tooth wear is volume change. Thus, the purpose of this study is to know how accurate 3D scan is. Material and Methods : For accuracy test of 3D scanner volume values measured by 3D scanner and micro-balance were compared. For test I, preliminary, 3 ball samples and 3 circular cones were made with pattern resin. For test II, 10 teeth shape rubber samples were used. Results and Conclusion : 1. The result of the accuracy test on 3D scan with 3 ball samples and 3 circular cones made of pattern resin has no significant difference(p<0.05). 2. The result of the accuracy test on 3D scan with 10 samples of tooth shape rubber has no significant difference (p<0.05). As a result, we may concluded the analysis of quantifying tooth wear used by 3D scan is useful in the clinic.

The objective of the present study was to determine the progesterone levels that effects on the pulsatile and surge modes of FSH secretion. In previous studies we have shown that LH surge occurred in the follicular levels of progesterone, whereas there was no surge mode secretion of LH in either the subluteal or luteal levels of progesterone. LH pulsatile frequencies were high in two groups such as follicular level and subluteal level. But in the luteal level of progesterone the pulsatile pattern of LH were strongly suppressed. Namely, subluteal levels of progesterone, around 1 ng/ml, completely suppressed the LH surge but did not affect the pulsatile frequency of LH secretion. Because of this we hypothesized that the two secretory patterns of FSH are similar to that of LH. Long-term ovariectomized Shiba goats that had received implants of estradiol capsules and three different progesterone silastic packet inducing follicular, subluteal and luteal levels of progesterone were divided into three groups such as non-P, low-P and high-P group.Blood samples were collected daily throughout the experiment for the analysis of gonadal steroid hormone levels and at 10-min intervals for 8 h on Days 0, 3, and 7 (Day 0: just before progesterone treatment) for analysis of the pulsatile frequency of FSH secretion. Then estradiol was infused into the jugular vein of all animals at a rate of 3 μg/h for 16 h on Day 8 to determine whether an FSH surge was induced. Blood samples were collected every 2 h from 4h before the start of the estradiol infusion until 48 h after the start of the infusion. In each group, the mean ± SEM concentration after progesterone implant treatment was 3.3 ± 0.1 ng/ml for the high P group, 1.1 ± 0.1 ng/ml for the low P group, and < 0.1 ng/ml for the non-P group, concentrations similar to the luteal levels, subluteal levels, and follicular phase levels of the normal estrous cycle, respectively. The FSH pulse frequency was maintained highly in all groups on Day 0, Day 3 and Day 7. An FSH surge was induced in all 4 cases of the Non-P group. In the High P and Low P groups, the plasma concentrations of FSH remained low until 48 h after the start of estradiol infusion, and no occurrence of FSH surge was found in any of the animals. The results of this study not only confirm that the pulsatile patterns of FSH were not inhibited strongly relative to LH, they also suggest that some other mechanism and factor may be controlling the FSH secretion.
Synapse development organized by neuronal activity-regulated immediate-early genes

Classical studies have shown that neuronal immediate-early genes (IEGs) play important roles in synaptic processes critical for key brain functions. IEGs are transiently activated and rapidly upregulated in discrete neurons in response to a wide variety of cellular stimuli, and they are uniquely involved in various aspects of synapse development. In this review, we summarize recent studies of a subset of neuronal IEGs in regulating synapse formation, transmission, and plasticity. We also discuss how the dysregulation of neuronal IEGs is associated with the onset of various brain disorders and pinpoint key outstanding questions that should be addressed in this field.
폴리 아세틸렌의 비선형 광학성질에 대한 양자 역학적 고찰

The frequency dependent longitudinal polarizabilities ${\alpha}zz(\omega)$ and the second hyper-polarizabilities ${\gamma}zzzz(\omega)$ of the linear polyenes, $C_4H_6\;to\;C_{30}H_{32}$, have been evaluated using the ab initio time-dependent coupled perturbed Hartree-Fock (TDCPHF) theory with the 6-31G basis set. The ratios of the dynamic properties to the static values have been examined to illustrate the relative dispersion effect and extrapolated to the infinite polymer limit. Also the effect of interchain interaction for linear and nonlinear optical properties has been investigated for $C_4H_6$ and the theoretical discussion has been described to overcome the limitation of ab initio TDHF method in the resonance region. Linear polyenes, ($C_4H_6\;to\;C_{30}H_{32}$)의 frequency dependent longitudinal polarizablilty, ${\alpha}zz(\omega)$ 와 second hyperpolarizabilities, ${\gamma}zzzz(\omega)$를 6-31G basis set에서 ab initio TDHF 이론을 사용하여 계산하였다. 폴리 아세틸렌의 frequency dispersion effect를 보기 위하여 외부 전기장의 주파수 영역에 광학성질을 구한후 무한 사슬을 갖는 고분자에 대하여 extrapolate하였다. 이때걸어준 외부 전기장에서의 광학적 성질에 대한 static field 에서의 광학성질의 비를 사용하여 비공면 영역에서의 dispersion effect를 고찰하였다. 또한 광학성질에 대한 주변 사슬의 효과를 조사하였으며 공명이 일어나는 영역에서의 광학 성질을 계산하기 위한 이론적 방법을 제안하였다.

자외선 램프를 이용한 살균기는 고전압 방전과 달리 오존의 발생을 최소화 하면서 짧은 시간에 원하는 물체를 살균할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 인체의 피부에 직접 접촉하는 티슈들의 포장 상태에서 세균의 밀도를 조사하고 그 결과 살균이 필요한 수준이라는 것을 파악한 다음, 공중 화장실용 공동 티슈 공급기에 적합한 살균기를 설계, 제작하고 그 효과를 세균 배양 실험을 통하여 확인하였다.
