Detection of betanodaviruses in apparently healthy aquarium fishes and invertebrates

Betanodaviruses are the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis (VNN) in cultured marine fish. A total of 237 apparently healthy aquarium fish, marine (65 species) and freshwater (12 species) fishes and marine invertebrates (4 species), which were stocked in a commercial aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, were collected from November 2005 to February 2006. The brains of the fish and other tissues of the invertebrates were examined by reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and nested PCR to detect betanodavirus. Positive nested PCR results were obtained from the brains of 8 marine fish species (shrimp fish Aeoliscus strigatus, milkfish Chanos chanos, three spot damsel Dascyllus trimaculatus, Japanese anchovy Engraulis japonicus, pinecone fish Monocentris japonica, blue ribbon eel Rhinomuraena quaesita, look down fish Selene vomer, yellow tang Zebrasoma flavesenes), 1 marine invertebrate species (spiny lobster Pamulirus versicolor), and 2 freshwater fish species (South American leaf fish Monocirrhus polyacanthus and red piranha Pygocentrus nattereri). The detection rate in nested PCR was 11/237 (4.64%). These subclinically infected aquarium fish and invertebrates may constitute an inoculum source of betanodaviruses for cultured fishes in the Korean Peninsula.

Companies that have high need of some computational resources for an specific space of time, nowadays, the pay as they use manner for resources required, that, is a good solution provided these days by some Cloud computing providers. Also solutions that represent a distributed computation for processes with high demand of calculation have appeared lately, the only problem is that when they are created, they need also be configured to share the same working space, this is the scope that comprehends this work, where the aim is to propose a framework that can be used as a solution of automation of the configurations that sometimes can take undetermined time and sometimes the user that configures it has to have a lot of knowledge and also configurations can turn in tricky ones generating a delay in the time where real productivity should be exploited.

Modern day despite technology advancements that manufacture a new generation of mobile devices with generous resources, the fact that they can offer only limited processing capacity still remains a painful experience.So far, a number of research studies have been carried out, trying to eliminate problems arising from shortcomings in the connection between thin clients and cloud networks, yet little have been found efficient. In this paper, we present a novel approach, taking advantage of collaboration of thin and thick clients, particularly aiming at optimizing data distribution by splitting data and utilizing cloud computing (CC) resources so that expected Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements can be met. Moreover, we conduct simulations to evaluate our approach. Our results evaluation shows that our approach has better performance than existing approaches.
Colombian Navy and its contribution to the United Nations Forces in the Korean War(1951∼1955)

한국전쟁 동안 제해권을 장악하기 위해서 각국의 연합으로 편성된 U.N.연합군이 필요했다. 콜롬비아는 남미에서 유일하게 U.N.의 요청에 응하여 자매국인 대한민국의 제해권을 장악하기 위해 필요한 육군과 해군을 동시에 파병한 국가였다. 콜롬비아 해군의 참전은 해양사를 그 이전과 이후로 나눌 수 있을 만큼 중요한 분수령이었으며, 참전 자체를 귀중한 유산으로서 정의할 만한 것이었다. U.N.연합군에 대한 콜롬비아 해군의 공헌은 국지전에서 다국적군으로 이루어진 태스크 포스-95를 완성시킴으로서 소규모 함대를 파견해 해군의 규모를 이루는 업적을 달성했다고 평가된다. 콜롬비아 해군이 당시에 협력함으로 이끌어낸 성과는 오늘날 단순히 해양 군사 전략 및 정책적인 측면뿐만이 아닌 미국과 대한민국과의 군사적 협력 측면에서도 인정받고 있다. Command and control of the sea during the Korean War would only be possible through a multinational force led by the United Nations. Colombia was the only Latin American country to send naval and ground forces responding to the U.N. call supporting the Republic of South Korea"s sister nation, expanding naval power and supremacy in the war at sea. This article will outline the Colombian Navy"s support in the Korean Sea War, assessing the Navy"s state before joining the Multinational Force of the United Nations, analyzing their assistance and contributions to naval operations, and finally, assimilation and outcomes for the institution. The participation was an event of great magnitude dividing Colombian naval history, making it part of its heritage. The Colombian Navy"s contribution to the United Nations Force is assessed from the challenges to send naval units given the Navy"s size and its integration to a Multinational Force, operating in a limited war. Assimilations and results are discussed and the benefits for the Colombian Navy in naval doctrine and military cooperation with the United States and South Korea.
Customer Satisfaction Analysis by Purpose Types of Purchasing and Using VR Devices from Review Data

The advancement and market activation of VR devices is crucial to opening the era of the Metaverse. To help the VR device industry's development, this study proposed a method that examines consumers' purpose types for purchasing and using VR devices from reviews and investigates their relationship with customer satisfaction. The study contributes to the academic field as it differs from prior studies in that: 1) it collected VR device review data from Amazon.com, and applied text analysis to identify purpose types and measure their propensities in each review; 2) keywords for text analysis were manually selected after keyword extraction using a traditional automatic approach; 3) bigram relationships of lemmas with the selected keywords were used to acquire more keywords for each purpose type; and 4) customer satisfaction on VR devices was represented by review ratings and sentiment, and customer satisfaction differences among purpose types were analyzed. Consequently, the research revealed that purpose types were associated with customer satisfaction in order like “gift” > “workout” > “watch” > “game”. From a practical point of view, this result can help to derive strategies for activating the VR device industry from a consumer perspective by aligning the development of VR device functionalities and software content with consumer demands.
Black-spotted porcupine fish에서의 Proteus vulgaris 감염증

The genus Proteus has been rarely isolated from cultured fish. In this study, we reported Proteus vulgaris isolated from fish skin lesion of Black-spotted porcupine fish (Diodon hystrix). Identification of P. vulgaris was performed by general biological test, including API 20E and API ZYM. The sensitivity of isolated strains to different groups of antibiotics was evaluated using the disc diffusion method. It showed that the isolate is sensitive to ciprofloxacin (5 µg), norfloxacin (10 µg), enrofloxacin (5 µg), cefotaxime (30 µg).
Isolation and Characterization of Morganella morganii from Asian Water Monitor Varanus salvator

An Asian water monitor Varanus salvator with physical wound due to bite which was subsequently infected with bacterium resulting to hemorrhage and pus in the skin blisters, abdominal distention and septicemia. Morganella morganii was isolated and identified from the blood and kidney of the reptile, and confirmed by PCR and biochemical tests. The sensitivity of isolated strains to different groups of antibiotics was also evaluated using the disc diffusion method. Pathogenicity test using M. morganii (SNUFPC-MM01) (1.6 × 1011CFU/mouse) to suckling and adult mice resulted to the death of all mice. This paper describes the first isolation of M. morganii from Asian water monitor in Korea.
