Background: The present study investigated the inhibitory effect of purified mulberry anthocyanin using PB-600 macroporous resin (RPA) in a 3T3-L1 preadipocyte differentiation model and a process for the industrial preparation of mulberry anthocyanins as a natural food and medicine materials. Methods and Results: Compared with the experimental purification using C18 Sep-Pak cartridges, RPA could yield a significantly higher amount of anthocyanins by an increased loading amount, the amount of purified anthocyanin, and cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) purified specifically, decreasing impurities containing cyanidin-3-rutinoside (C3R) in mulberry extract. To investigate the effect of RPA on cytotoxicity and adipogenesis in vitro, differentiating 3T3-L1 cells in adipocyte-induction media were treated with RPA at various concentrations (50 to 2,000 ㎍/㎖). We found that RPA inhibited 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation without affecting cell viability, while RPA (1,000 ㎍/㎖) treatment reduced the lipid accumulation inhibition rate to 46.44 ± 2.63%. Additionally, the triglyceride content of RPA (1,000 ㎍/㎖)-treated 3T3-L1 adipocytes decreased to 59.32 ± 1.36% compared to the control (100%). Measuring the anti-obesity effect and gene expression related to lipid metabolism through real-time PCR and experiments were performed at a concentration of less than 1,000 ㎍/㎖. RPA containing anthocyanin and non-anthocyanin fravonoid affects the gene expression of mRNA (SREBP-1c, PPAR, C/EBPα, FAS, and ACC). RPA containing both anthocyanin (C3G and C3R) and non-anthocyanin flavonoid decreased to a higher level than C3G alone in the gene expression of lipid metabolism-related genes, indicating that the lipid metabolism-related genes were significantly reduced. Conclusions: The macroporus PB-600 resin was used to separate anthocyanin in the extract of mulberry, confirming it as an efficient potential method for the industrial production of mulberry anthocyanins. These results suggest that RPA could have a beneficial effect on the inhibition of adipogenesis, and that it may be used as effective anti-obesity agents.
Effect of La-doping on AgSbTe2 Thermoelectric Compounds

Ag(Sb1−xLax)Te2 compounds (x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.05) were fabricated to study the effect of La-doping on the thermoelectric properties by using a spark-plasma-sintering process. All specimens were nearly single-phase AgSbTe2 with a small amount of Ag2Te. The La doping in AgSbTe2 resulted in a reduction in the electrical and the thermal conductivity but increased the Seebeck coefficient. A small amount of La doping increased the Seebeck coefficient because of the electron filtering effect. The maximum figure of merit was 1.50 due to the enhanced power factor and extremely low thermal conductivity.

사업장 가연성폐기물은 그 자체의 높은 발열량(3,000kcal/kg 이상)으로 인해 고형연료 원료로 매우 유용하게 사용할 수 있다. 현재 국내 대부분의 고형연료 제조업체는 제조가 쉽고 발열량이 높은 필름류 플라스틱을 주로 사용 하고 있기 때문에 본 연구에서는 보다 다양한 폐기물을 이용하여 고형연료 제조 가능성을 알아보았다. 실험에 사용된 폐기물 중에서 폐합성수지, 폐타이어로 제조된 고형연료는 발열량이 6,000kcal/kg 이상을 나타내었으며 폐지, 폐목재 가 혼합될 경우 발열량은 감소하였다. Industrial combustible waste is very valuable source for refuse derived solid fuel since its heating value is usually over 3,000kcal/kg. Especially, synthetic high molecular compound which is high of productivity and heating value is used as raw material in many cases. Film type plastic has been widely used for producing RPF because their shaping is easy and they has high heating value. On the other hand, the possibility of various type of waste as a source for RPF in this study. It has been found that resin compound drived and tire derived solid fuel showed more than 6,000kcal/kg of heating value. But the heating value decreased by adding paper and wood waste.
Clostridium sp.가 생산하는 항생물질 KG-1167A 와 KG-1167B의 정제 및 특성

순수분리된 2,200여주의 혐기성 세균으로부터 선별된 Clostridium sp. KH-1167은 그람양성 및 음성균에 대하여 재현성있는 항균활성을 나타내는 물질을 생산하였다. Solvent extraction, silica gel column chromatography에 의하여 배양액으로부터 항생물질 KG-1167A와 KG-1167B를 부분정제 하였다. 이들은 pH4∼11의 범위에서는 비교적 안정하였으며, 온도에 대해서는 50℃ 정도에서부터 점차 불안정해지는 것을 알 수 있었다. UV λ_max 분석결과로부터 이들은 aromatic ring을 포함하고 있는 화합물로 추정되는데, 현재 진행 중인 MS, ^1H-NMR 등의 분석결과와도 상당히 일치되었다. 19종의 그람양성 및 음성균에 대한 부분정제된 KG-1167A와 KG-1167B의 MIC값은 32∼128㎍/㎖로 나타났으며 mouse에 대한 LD_50값은 150∼200㎎/㎏이었다. The antibiotics KG-1167A and KG-1167B were isolated from the fermentation broth of the bacterial strain KH-1167, identified as Clostridium sp. The individual antibiotics, KG-1167A & KG-1167B were separated and purified by solvent extraction followed by silica gel column chromatography. These antibiotics showed antibacterial activities against broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The physico-chemical properties and UV spectra suggest that they possess aromatic moiety in their structures.

Pharmacological control of interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) production may be a key therapeutic strategy for modulating immunological diseases dominated by Th1-derived cytokine response. In this study, we investigated the effects of three different tanshinone pigments from Solvia miltiorrhiza (tanshinone I, dihydrotanshinone, and cryptotanshinone) on IL-12 production in mouse macrophages and on IFN-γ production in lymph node cells. All tested tanshinones significantly inhibited IL-12 production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated macrophages and also IFN-γ production in keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH)-primed lymph node cells in a dose-dependent manner. Dihydrotanshinone was more effective than tanshinone I or cryptotanshinone. Tanshinones significantly inhibited the expression of IL-12 p40 gene at the mRNA level. Furthermore, tanshinones potently inhibited the promoter activation of IL-12 p40 gene and nuclear factor (NF)-κB binding to the κB site, suggesting that tanshinones may negatively regulate IL-12 production at the transcription level. These results may explain some known biological activities of tanshinones including their anti-inflammatory effect, and suggest a possible use of tanshinones in the treatment of immunological diseases dominated by Th1-derived cytokine responses.
Anti-obesity Effect of Mulberry Anthocyanins in C57BL/6J Mice

Background: In this study, we evaluated the anti-obesity effects of purified mulberry anthocyanins using PB-600 macroporous resin (RPA), and investigated their effects on the weight of the body, liver, and epididymal white adipose tissue, lipid profiles, and mRNA gene expression for lipid metabolism in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese C57BL/6J male mice. Methods and Results: Four-week-old C57BL/6J mice (n = 12/group) were fed an HFD (HFD group) with RPA (HFD + RPA group, 5,000 ㎎/㎏/day, 761.85 ㎎· cyanidin 3-glucoside equivalent/g) for 12 weeks. Mice fed HFD showed increased body weight, insulin resistance, and serum and hepatic lipid levels. In comparison, the HFD + RPA group showed significantly lower body weight and fat mass with a decreasing food efficiency ratio than the HFD control mice. Additionally, the RPA group showed significantly lower levels of total cholesterol and blood glucose, decreased homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) score, attenuated lipid accumulation, and decreased leptin secretion. Regarding the mRNA expression of genes related to anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory properties, RPA decreased the expression levels of PPARγ, FAS, IL-6, and TNFα, compared to the HFD control, while increased the CPT 1 expression levels increased. Conclusions: These results confirm that RPA, a purified mulberry anthocyanin has anti-obesity, and anti-inflammatory effects and could be used for functional and health-promoting activities, such as reducing obesity and insulin resistance at high doses in obese animals models.

USN 기술은 센서노드의 전류소모 감소를 위한 저전력 기술개발과 관련 기술력 확보를 위해 많은 연구가 지행되고 있다. 유비쿼터스 환경에서 보안의 취약성과 낮은 신뢰성 문제는 USN 기술의 상용화 성공을 위해 선행되어야할 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 보안 문제로 W-Key 알고리즘을 도입하여 키분배 관리, 인증관리, 환경관리로 구성하여 무선 Key기법과 다른 RFID/USN기반의 안전한 출입통제 시스템을 구현하였다.

본 연구는 주형의 형상에 관계없이 균일한 건조성능을 가지는 장치의 도입을 목적으로 Microwave를이용한 주형건조장치 개발을 위한 기초 연구에 관한 것이다. 건조 성능의 검토를 위해 진공건조기와Lab-scale의 Microwave 출력장치를 가지는 Microwave oven을 이용하여 주물사의 무게별, 건조시간별 건조효율을 검토하였으며, CO₂주형법에서 물유리의 양과 CO₂통기시간에 따른 주형의 압축강도를 측정하였다.

The micro turbo generator is new portable power source based on the Brayton cycle, which consists of a compressor, a turbine, a generator, and a combustion chamber. In this paper, the thermodynamic analysis was performed to find the required condition for hundreds watts power in the micro turbo generator, and also the rotordynamic stability was predicted using the numerical analysis of air foil bearings which support the micro turbo generator. By experimental works, the rotordynamic stability of the micro turbo generator with foil bearings was verified. While various transient dynamic situation, the micro turbo generator had stable performances. From the result, it was demonstrated that air foil bearings could be adapted to the micro turbo generator as a excellent lubrication element.
