Many of the bidge and building floor systems, including the girders and cross-beams, also behave a similar special orthotropic plates. Such plates are subject to the concentrate masses in the form of traffic loads, or the test equipments such as the accelerator in addition to their own masses. Analysis of such problems is usually very difficult. Most of the bridge slabs on girders have large aspect ratios. Finite difference method is used for this purpose, in this paper. The reuslt is compared with that of the beam theory.
FNN을 이용한 직류 전동기의 온-라인 위치제어기 설계

In this paper we propose a structure of controller using a fuzzy-neural network(FNN) which includes both advantages of the fuzzy logic and the neural networks. The basic idea of the FNN is to realize the fuzzy rule-base and the process of reasoning by neural network and to make the corresponding parameters be expressed by the connection weights of neural the performance and applicability of the proposed structure of controller.
Rifampicin에 의한 것으로 추정되는 위막성 대장염1예

Pseudomembranous colitis, caused by altering the normal colonic flora and allowing the multiplication of Clostridium difficile, is an deleterious adverse effect of antibiotics. But it is rarely reported by rifampicin. Rifampicin is one of the first line drug in the treatment of tuberculosis and many patients are exposed to its potential adverse effects. We experienced a patient that had abdominal discomfort and hematochezia due to pseudomembranous colitis after receiving antituberculous medication, and which was probably caused by rifampicin. A 82 years old man was admitted with abdominal discomfort and hematochezia for one week. On the past history he had been diagnosed as endobronchial tuberculosis about 4 months ago. Colonoscopy revealed multiple discrete whitish mucosal lesion on rectosigmoid colon, and histologic findings were consistent with pseudomembranous colitis. The antituberculous agents were discontinued and vancomycin was administered. The patient's symptoms were resolved within several days. There was no recurrence after reinstitution of the antituberculous agents excluding rifampicin. We report here on a case of pseudomembranous colitis probably due to rifampicin.

콘크리트 구조물이 대형화됨에 따라 설계단면이 증대되어 상대적으로 많은 경제적 손실을 부담하게 된다. 따라서 단면을 감소시키면서도 소요의 하중에 안전한 구조물을 건설하기 위해서는 우선적으로 구조물 건설에 기초가 되는 고품질, 고내구성의 고강도 콘크리트 개발이 절실히 요구된다 본 연구에서는 일정 시멘트비 및 혼화재 비율하에서 소요의 워커빌리티가 확보되는 고강도 콘크리트를 시간과 온도의 변화에 따라 증기 양생하여, 압축, 인장, 휨강도 뿐만 아니라 파괴특성을 실험적으로 연구하였다. 시료 제작시 시멘트 입자 사이의 공극 및 불연속 영역을 충전하여 고밀도화하기 위한 콘크리트용 혼화재로 시멘트 비표면적이 상당히 작은 초미립 분말인 실리카흄을 이용하였다. 또한 AE감수제 및 고성능 유동화제를 사용하여 혼화재의 첨가에 의하여 발생될 수 있는 워커빌리티의 감소를 방지하였다. 실험결과에 의하면 일정 양생 지속 시간하에서 온도의 증가에 따라 콘크리트의 압축, 인장 및 휨강도가 전반적으로 증가하였다. 동일하게 일정 온도하에서 양생 지속시간이 커짐에 따라 강도들이 증가됨을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 상대적으로 높은 온도와 긴 지속 양생 조건하에서 파괴에 대한 저항력이 크게 나타났다. The compressible, tensible, and flexibleresistance of the high strength concrete is analyzed by the experimentation in the present study. For the test, we cure several samples with the silica fume as a mixture being become dense the spaces between the particle of cement under the variation of both the temperature and the curing-interval. Then, the superplasticizer and the ezcon are also used to satisfy the required workability for construction. The compressible, tensible, and flexible resistances to a stress are increased as increasing the temperature and the time interval for the curing. Therefore it is concluded that the overal fractural and mechanical properties is improved by mixing the silica fume into the cement.

External stimulus-induced activation of microglia plays an important role in the protection of neurons in the central nervous system; however, over-activation of microglia could cause neuronal damage, and it is implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of wild radish (Raphanus sativus var. hortensis f. raphanistroides) root extract (WRE) on microglial over-activation. Mouse microglia BV-2 cells and rat primary microglia were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), treated with WRE, and analyzed for nitric oxide (NO) production, pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, inducible NO synthase (iNOS) expression, and p38 kinase phosphorylation. Human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells were treated with microglia-conditioned medium and analyzed for cell viability. Stimulation with LPS increased NO production and iNOS expression in BV-2 cells and primary microglia, but the treatment with WRE decreased both. Furthermore, WRE downregulated the mRNA expression and secretion of inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and inhibited the phosphorylation of p38 in LPS-activated microglia. Treatment with the conditioned medium of LPSinduced BV-2 cells decreased the viability of SH-SY5Y cells, but the damaging effect was significantly alleviated in cells treated with the conditioned medium of LPS plus WRE-cultured microglia. This indicated that the WRE treatment of microglia could protect neuronal cells from microglial activation-induced neurotoxicity. WRE may be a potential food product to attenuate neuroinflammation via the inhibition of microglial over-activation, which can slow down the neurodegenerative processes in the brain.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, the electromagnetic cold crucible (EMCC) technique coupled with a Ca treatment method was used to test its potential for recycling Ti scraps. Deoxidation of molten Ti scraps was studied at Ca concentrations ranging from 0 to 0.5 wt%. With the addition of Ca, the contents of O, C, and H in the Ti scraps decreased, whereas the N content increased. Ca-based compounds were only observed on the top surface of the Ti ingots. The grain size and hardness of the fabricated Ti ingots before and after Ca addition were similar among the specimens. Noticeably, the ultimate tensile strength and the strain at fracture of the fabricated Ti ingots significantly increased from 641 ± 23 to 774 ± 8 MPa and from 5.8 ± 0.8% to 19.5 ± 5.1%, respectively, with the addition of Ca.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Ti scraps were refined by electromagnetic cold crucible coupled with Ca treatment. </LI> <LI> The addition of Ca in Ti successfully reduced the concentration of impurities. </LI> <LI> A uniform microstructure was obtained from the refined Ti. </LI> <LI> The refined Ti had sufficient mechanical properties. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Methylglyoxal (MG) is known to form advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and has emerged as a leading cause of diabetes and the associated complications. We aimed to explore the therapeutic effects and action mechanism of <I>Schizonepeta tenuifolia</I>, by investigating its protective effect on MG-induced cytotoxicity in mouse mesangial cells. <I>Schizonepeta tenuifolia</I> exerted inhibitory effect on MG-mediated AGE formation and AGE–protein cross-linking. MG treatment also reduced cell viability and increased reactive oxygen species (ROS), but <I>S. tenuifolia</I> treatment reversed these phenomena. We also confirmed that <I>S. tenuifolia</I> can activate the Nrf2-ARE pathway. While MG treatment reduced the expression of Nrf2 and its downstream molecules, <I>S. tenuifolia</I> treatment upregulated these protein expression. In conclusion, <I>S. tenuifolia</I> ameliorates cytotoxicity and oxidative stress in mouse mesangial cells via inhibition of AGE formation and AGE–protein cross-linking.
