Henoch-Scho¨nlein Purpura is a common pediatric disease with purpuric skin lesion, gastrointestinal and joint manifestations, and shows diffuse vasculitis in many organs pathologically. We studied retrospectively 81 cases of children admitted to the department of pediatrics of Chungnam National University Hospital(CNUH) under the impression of anaphylactoid purpura during the 5 years and 6 months from January, 1987 to June, 1992 to evaluate the clinical findings and laboratory characteristics. The results were as follows; 1) It was observed more frequently in the male as the sex ratio of 1.9 : 1. The most prevalent age group was 7 to 9-year-old(24.7%) and children of 3 to 11-year-old represented 77.8% of the total cases. 2) It occurred frequently in the spring(32.1%) and autumn(29.6%). 3) Upper respiratory tract infection was observed in 33.3% of patients, and no prodromal symptoms in 56.8%. 4) Skin lesions were observed in 100%, gastrointestinal symptoms in 64.2%, joint symptoms in 55.6%, and renal involvement in 29.6%. 5) In the skin, purpura(90.1%) were observed on the lower extremities(91.4%). 6) In the symptom of gastrointestinal tract, abdominal pain(90.2%), nausea and vomiting(25.0%), gastrointestinal bleeding(19.2%) were observed and 1 case of intussusception was observed as the complication of disease. 7) In the system of joint, knee(80%), and ankle(42.2%) joints were involved, and arthritis was observed in 69.8%. 8) Blood coagulation test and platelet counts were normal rnage and ASO titers were elevated in 25%. 9) Renal involvements were observed in 24 cases(29.6%), and both hematuria and proteinuria in 20 cases(83.3%), hematuria in 3 cases(12.5%), and proteinuria in one case(4.2%) were observed. 10) Among 24 cases with renal involvement, 11 cases(45.8%) were recovered within 1 month, and 8 cases(33.8%) showed persistent symptoms over 1 year, 5 cases(20.8%) progressed to nephrotic syndrome. Renal biopsy was done in 3 cases, these findings were mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis with the deposition of Ig A. In conclusion, we know that the course and prognosis of anaphylactoid purpura largely depend on the renal involvement and we have to observe the patient continuousely and closely for the early diagnosis and management.
Compounds inhibiting the bioconversion of hydrothermally pretreated lignocellulose

<P>Hydrothermal pretreatment using liquid hot water, steam explosion, or dilute acids enhances the enzymatic digestibility of cellulose by altering the chemical and/or physical structures of lignocellulosic biomass. However, compounds that inhibit both enzymes and microbial activity, including lignin-derived phenolics, soluble sugars, furan aldehydes, and weak acids, are also generated during pretreatment. Insoluble lignin, which predominantly remains within the pretreated solids, also acts as a significant inhibitor of cellulases during hydrolysis of cellulose. Exposed lignin, which is modified to be more recalcitrant to enzymes during pretreatment, adsorbs cellulase nonproductively and reduces the availability of active cellulase for hydrolysis of cellulose. Similarly, lignin-derived phenolics inhibit or deactivate cellulase and β-glucosidase via irreversible binding or precipitation. Meanwhile, the performance of fermenting microorganisms is negatively affected by phenolics, sugar degradation products, and weak acids. This review describes the current knowledge regarding the contributions of inhibitors present in whole pretreatment slurries to the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose and fermentation. Furthermore, we discuss various biological strategies to mitigate the effects of these inhibitors on enzymatic and microbial activity to improve the lignocellulose-to-biofuel process robustness. While the inhibitory effect of lignin on enzymes can be relieved through the use of lignin blockers and by genetically engineering the structure of lignin or of cellulase itself, soluble inhibitors, including phenolics, furan aldehydes, and weak acids, can be detoxified by microorganisms or laccase.</P>

The posttransplantation lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) are not rare complications of solid organ transplants. The incidence varies with the type of transplantation and the nature and intensity of the immunosuppressive regimens. PTLDs are unique in that they have a predilection for extranodal sites, a strong and probably causal association with Ebstein-Barr virus infection, and a poor response to the cytolytic chemotherapeutic or irradiation regimens used for treatment of malignant lymphoma. The outcomes of treatment have been disappointing, with mortality from PTLD or related complications of over 50% of patients. We experienced two cases of PTLDs in liver transplant recipients presenting with liver mass and intraabdominal lymphadenopathy. PTLDs were diagnosed by autopsy and a liver biopsy. In the case diagnosed by a liver biopsy, EBV was detected by in situ hybridization. Despite reduction of immunosuppression and conservative management, both patients died.

We designed and constructed a drought-simulation facility for use in producing droughttolerant transgenic crops and assessing their associated risks. This facility consists of soil storage containers and rainout shelters. Each container is equipped with an efficient drainage system so that proper drought conditions can be maintained by controlling water flow to and from the soil. The polyvinyl roof and sidewalls close automatically during rain events to exclude rainfall from plots within the containers but re-open under dry conditions. Water is supplied via sub-surface drip irrigation. The soil water content is monitored at 30-min intervals by sensors installed at depths of 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm. For testing its performance, the field within the facility was divided into two systems, well-watered and water-deficit. Three cultivars of rice were grown. During the experiment, the soil water content was relatively lower in the water-deficit system. Regardless of cultivar, the mean values for plant height; panicle length; grain number, weight, and width; 1000-grain weight; and overall yield were significantly lower in that system when compared with those parameters in the well-watered system.

SGML은 이 기종간에 호환이 가능하고 논리적인 구조 정보를 포함한다는 장점 때문에 CALS, EC, 인트라넷/그룹웨어, 전자도서관 등의 다양한 분야에서 문서처리의 표준 포맷으로 자리잡았다. 이에 SGML 문서를 쉽게 생성 및 편집할 수 있는 문서편집기에 대한 요구가 급증하고 있으며 현재 전세계적으로 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 그러나 기존의 문서편집기는 SGML 문서의 프리젠테이션을 위하여 독자적인 스타일 포맷을 사용한다. 이는 개방형 문서 표준이라는 SGML의 본래 취지에 어긋나는 것이다. 이에 ISO/IEC에서는 SGML 문서의 변환 및 스타일 정보를 기술할 수 있는 표준 안으로 DSSSL을 제안하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 DSSSL을 지원하며 한글처리가 가능한 SGML 문서편집기를 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 한글을 지원하는 DSSSL 처리기의 표준적인 인터페이스를 지원하기 위하여 Grove 생성기를 개발하였으며 SGML 문서의 프리젠테이션 결과를 출력할 수 있는 포맷터를 개발하였다. Due to the fact that SGML is independent of the platform and is a means for embedding logical structure information into documents, it has been widely accepted as a standard format for representing documents in various fields such as CALS, EC, Intranet/Groupware, and Electronic Library. There are growing interest and studies in an SGML document editor that facilitates creation and editing of SGML documents. Existing editors use vendor-dependant style format for formatting documents. However, it goes against the original purpose of SGML that is called an open standard. For this reason, recently, ISO/IEC proposed DSSSL as an international standard for associating processing information, transformation and formatting, with SGML documents. Therefore, we design and implement an SGML document editor, which can process DSSSL style sheet and Hangul. Specially, m order to implement the proposed editor, we develop an SGML parser that can process Hangul, and a DSSSL processor that deals with DSSSL style language. And we develop a Grove building processor which supports a standard interlace between an SGML parser and a DSSSL processor, and a formatter which can display the result of formatting an SGML document.
태권도장 조직문화에 따른 조직몰입, 수련생지향성과 태권도장 경영성과 간 관계 연구

The purpose of this study was to verify the causal relation among organization commitment, trainee orientation and business performance in terms of organizational culture in Taekwondo academies. In domestic, most of the Taekwondo academies in Korea are supposed to faced with managerial problems including decreasing trainees numbers and severe competitions with other academies etc. So, it is required that estimating the effectiveness of organizational culture will be significant among organizational commitment and trainee orientation of Taekwondo instructors and business performance. A total of 215 questionnaires were released to Taekwondo instructors who work for domestic Taekwondo academies in Gyeonggi Province, Busan and Gwangju Metropolitan City. The method of date collection was convenience sampling. Frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis and correlation analysis were conducted. To verify established hypotheses, path analysis was proceeded utilizing SPSS 15.0 and Amos 7.0. The results are as follows. First, organizational culture significantly influenced on organizational commitment, trainee orientation and business performance. Second organizational commitment and trainee orientation did not significantly influenced on business performance.
