A case of Salmonella infection of dermoid cyst originated from the left ovary is presented. On the 25th day of the onset of the illness(on admission) the cultures of blood and stool yielded no growth of organism, and Widal tests with S. typhi, S. paratyphi A and S. paratyphi B antigens were negative. While, the cultures of the Douglas pouch aspirates and the contents of dermoid cyst surgically removed yielded growth of a Salmonella strain belong to group D. Surgical removal of the focus and massive chloramphenicol theraphy had terminated the course in a few days without any complication.
消化性潰瘍 및慢性胃炎에 對한 Basic Alminum Sucrose Sulfate(Ulcerlmin)의 臨床的 觀察

Basic alminum sucrose sulfate (ULCERLMIN) is combined with pepsin to form ULCERLMIN-pepsin complex and inhibits the proteolytic activity of pepsin. Furthermore, it has gastric mucosal protection activity since it forms the complex, being combined with gastric mucosal protein. It also possesses antacid activity and has been applicated to the treatment of peptic ulcer. In this report, Ulcerlmin was used as a treatment of peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis, and the results were as following. The excellent or good results were obtained in the majority of cases of peptic ulcer. The good results were obtained in superficial types and hypertrophic types of chronic gastritis but in atrophic types, the results were poor.
Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 세라믹스의 소결온도, 성형압력에 따른 격자 뒤틀림과 유전 특성과의 관계

소결온도와 성형압력을 각각 조절하여 Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 세라믹스의 결정립의 크기를 조절한 후 이에 따른 격자 뒤틀림의 변화와 유전특성과의 관계를 조사하였다. 소결온도와 성형압력이 증가함에 따라 결정립의 크기는 모두 증가하였지만 격자 뒤틀림은 소결온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 반면 성형압력의 증가에 대한 영향으로 증가하였지만 성형압력을 변화시킨 시편은 격자 뒤틀림의 변화와 마찬가지로 큰 변화를 나타내지 않았다. 유전변화율(dielectric tunability)은 성형압력을 변화시킨 시편이 소결온도를 변화시킨 경우보다 더 크게 나타났다. Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 ceramics with various grain sizes were prepared to investigate the lattice distortion dependence of dielectric properties by controlling sintering temperature and pressing. The grain sizes of the samples are increased with increasing sintering temperature and pressing pressure. The dielectric constant is increased by increasing sintering temperature due to the decrease in lattice distortion while it is not much affected by controlling pressing pressure. The sample made by controlling pressing pressure have greater dielectric tunability than those made by controlling sintering temperature.

Due to high power ratings and low conduction Joss, the IGBT has become more attractive in high power applications. However, its slower characteristics than those of MOSFET cause severe switching losses and switching frequency limitation.<br/> This paper proposes the IGBT's soft switching concept with the help of MOSFET, where each of the IGBT and MOSFET plays its role during on-periods and switching instants. Also, the switching losses are analyzed by using the linearized modeling and the operations of a converter are investigated to confirm the soft switching of IGBTs.

<P>For the first time, an inorganic organic hybrid polymer binder was used for the coating of hybrid composites on separators to enhance thermal stability and to prevent formation of lithium dendrite in lithium metal batteries. The fabricated hybrid-composite-coated separators exhibited minimal thermal shrinkage compared with the previous composite separators (<5% change in dimension), maintenance of porosity (Gurley number 400 s/100 cm(3)), and high ionic conductivity (0.82 mS/cm). Lithium metal battery cell examinations with our hybrid-composite -coated separators revealed excellent C-rate and cyclability performance due to the prevention of lithium dendrite growth on the lithium anode even after 200 cycles under 0.2-5C (charge discharge) conditions. The mechanism for lithium dendrite prevention was attributed to exceptional nanoscale surface mechanical properties of the hybrid composite coating layer compared with the lithium metal anode, as the elastic modulus of the hybrid-composite-coated separator far exceeded those of both the lithium metal anode and the required threshold for lithium metal dendrite prevention.</P>
Application of Microbiologically Induced Soil Stabilization Technique for Dust Suppression

A novel concept of using microbial metabolic byproduct, calcium carbonate, has been developed for the control of fugitive dusts. This microbial dust suppression is based on the calcite precipitation induced by soil microorganism, Sporosarcina pasteurii, in which calcite matrices formed promote aggregation of dust particles. This type of mineral cementation has shown a great potential to aggregate loose soil particles, preventing surface erosion and furthermore plugging the permeable channels on the soil surface. To evaluate the dust suppressive potential of this microbial calcite, S. pasteurii was suspended in medium and applied to locally available well graded and poorly graded sands. The treated soil samples were tested via wind tunnels at intervals and mass losses were measured. Both types of the soil samples treated with S. pasteurii formed a crust-like layer on the surface and showed a significant reduction in mass loss. This study has demonstrated the potential of this microbially-mediated process as an effective, environmentally friendly means of airborne fugitive dust control.
