This research was carried out to find out the possibility of using Faraday's law in analyzing the electrocoagulation system. Bench-scale reactor equipped with aluminum electrode plates was operated using synthetic wastewater which received sodium chloride for conductivity adjustment. Phosphate was added to the wastewater to induce the precipitation with Al. The amount of aluminum dissolved from the electrodes could be predicted by Faraday's law with a difference less than 5%. This difference was greater at a higher electric current, probably due to the increased solution temperature. However, effect of pH on the dissolution of the aluminum was negligible. The result of this study suggested that the operating condition of electrocoagulation system could be developed using the Faraday's law when the pollutant concentration is given.
억제대 적용지침 개발을 통한 불필요한 억제대 적용율 감소활동

문제: 억제대 적용에 대한구체적 적용지침 없이 의례적으로 억제대를사용함으로 인해 환자들의 신체적 또는 정신적 안전을 위협할 수 있다. 목적: 완전 진정상태 이거나 근력이 약하여 발관능력이 없는 환자에 대한 예방적 적용, 바빠서 환자를볼수 없 는경우, 간호사본인의 판단이 없이 타인의 요구에 따르는등의 불필요한 억제대 적용이 증가하는 원인을 파악하여 중환자실의 특수성에 맞는 억제대 적용및 제거 지침을 마련하고자 한다. 의료기관: 인천광역시에 소재한 의과대학 소속병원의 집중치료실 개선효과: 억제대 적용에 대한중환자실 간호사에게 미치는 영향을 보면 태도 정도 p=0.09(p<0.1), 올바른 수행 능력은 p= 0.005 (p <0.0히로통계적으로유의한것으로 나타났다. 지식 정도 p=0.172(p<0.05) 통계적으로 유의 하지는 않지만 모든항목이 개선 활동전 에 비해 2,3차 개선 활동후에 향상한 것으로 나타났다. 개선활동전에 8.1%였던 간호 기록, 0.7%였던 간호중재, 0%였던 의사처방율이 3차 개선 활동 후 3가지 모두 100% 달성되었다. 이는 억제대 적용율 갑소 및 부적절한 억제대 적용율은 유의하게 감소하였다. 교훈: 중환자실 간호사의 억제대 적용에 대한태도, 지식, 올바른 간호 수행 능력은 지속적으로 재평가 되어지고, 교육내용은좀더 나은 간호제공을 위하여 개발 되어져야 할 것이다. 억제대 적용 기준과 제거 기준을 Check List 하여 객관성의 유지를 위한 개선 활동은계속적으로 Feedback 되어야 할 것이다.
Separation and identification of Cirsimarin from Cirsium Pendulum FISCH

Whole plant of Cirsium pendulum FISCH was extracted with methanol and a flavonoid glycoside was isolated from the methanol extract. The glycoflavonoid was identified as cirsimarin, 4`,5-dihydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone-4`-β-D-glucopyranoside.
Isolation of 4,4^I-Dihydroxybenzyl Sulfoxide from Gastrodia elata

In the course of continous work on tubers of Gastrodia elata, a new constituent, 4, 4$^{I}$-dihydroxybenzyl sulfoxide was isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction prepared from the methanol extract. The structure of the compound was identified from the elemental analytical and spectroscopic data in comparison with those of non-substituted benzyl sulfoxide.e.

Literature survey was undertaken to investigate what medicinal plants have been used as hepatotonic or for treatment of various liver diseases in far eastern asian countries. Total 59 plants were found to be described in the literatures. And 9 plants among them were studied on their hepatotonic activities against animal model of hepatitis. Several plants appeared to exhibit profound activities on the hepatitis model employed.

Screening of Plant Materials for the Antagonistic Effects against Angiotensin or bradykinin

Angiotensins and bradykinin play important roles in blood pressure regulation and in other physiological and pathological conditions. The present work is aimed to investigate potential antagonists against either angiotensin or bradykinin from plant sources. Each methanol extract of selected 25 plants was solvent fractionated to three fractions. The effects of total of 75 plant samples against the contractions induced by angiotensin I or bradykinin in rat ileum were measured. The results are summerized.

Investigation of Platelet Anti-Aggregating Substances of Plant Origin

Platelets, in the pathological conditions, plays a crucial role in the initiation and precipitation of arterial thrombosis formation leading to various ischemic diseases. In addition, substances secreted from platelets can mediate many other biologic reactions and may also be involved in arteriosclerosis and other pathologic processes. Hence, it has arisen considerable interests that antiplatelet drugs may be useful in the prophylaxis or therapy of platelet-induced thromboemblism and other platelet mediated pathologic processes. Investigations were carried out with some of the plant materials which showed anti-platelet aggregating activities in our preliminary screenings. 3,4-Dihydroxrbenzoic aid, higenamine [1-(4'-hydroxybenzyl)-6, 7-dihydroxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroisoquinoline] and gluco-obtusifolin (2-glucosyl-8-hydroxy-1-methoxy-3-methylanthr aquinone) are some of the examples of platelet anti-aggregating substances isolated from plants. Various structural analogs of the above mentioned three compound groups were screened for their inhibitory activities against paltelet aggregation induced by ADP, arachidonic acid or collagen. Discussions also included the results of the investigations on the structural activity relationships for each compound group.
