        예술 인지주의의 주장들에 대한 비판적 고찰 : 비명제적 지식과 이해를 중심으로

        The purpose of this paper is to critically review debates on cognitive values of art(especially fictional narrative art) in Analytic aesthetics and propose a new way to conceive the cognitive values of art. What stands out in debates in Analytic aesthetics is that they concentrate on specifying the kind of cognitive benefit and how artwork can give us these cognitive benefits. Initial debates tried to figure out how art can be a source of propositional knowledge of the real world, but current debates see cognitive achievement other than propositional knowledge as more promising options. But, Are these options really promising as giving epistemologically valid explanations on cognitive values of art and its artistic relevance? I think they are not. To clarify this point, I will divide current debates by the kinds of knowledge they argue for; knowing how and knowing what it is like. Also, there are debates explaining cognitive value without knowledge which is frequently called ‘neo-cognitivism’. They argue that art mobilizes what we already know and deepens understanding on it. I argue that given the conditions for acquiring non-propositional knowledge, acquiring non-propositional knowledge is not closely related to the proper appreciation of art. And, I sympathetically agree to the idea that art deepens the understanding on what we already know, but this rough idea does not give a satisfying answer to questions regarding nature of deepened understanding on the world and its artistic relevance. This problem leads some philosophers to focus on the empirical evidence which can support the arguments on cognitive values of art. And I suggest that this direction deserve more focus. 예술 인지주의를 옹호하는 근래의 시도들은 비명제적 지식, 이해 같은 이색적인 인지적 성취를 중심으로 한다는 점에서 특징적이다. 특히 이러한 인지적 성취를 중심으로 예술의 인지적 가치에 대한 논의를 펼치는 이들은 이런 인지적 성취는 예술적 가치와도 유관하다고 주장하는데, 작품에 대한 적절한 감상 경험의 일부인 상상이나 해석을 통해서 이 인지적 성취를 얻을 수 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 본고는 이러한 입장들을 비판적으로 검토하고자 한다. 첫 번째로 예술 작품이 유도하는 상상을 통해서 비명제적 지식을 획득할 수 있다는 점을 강조하는 입장들은 작품 속 상황과 유사한 실제 세계의 상황들에 대처할 줄 알게 된다거나 작품이 묘사하는 사건을 겪는 것이 어떤 것인지 알게 된다고 주장한다. 하지만 본고는 이들의 주장은 실용적 지식이나 현상적 지식에 대한 인식론적 논의를 고려했을 경우, 적절하지 않다는 점을 보일 것이다. 두 번째로 이해에 의존하는 입장들은 새로운 인지주의라고 불리면서 근래에 주목의 대상이 되었다. 이 입장들은 이해가 지식에 비해서 넓은 개념이며 예술을 통한 다양한 인지적 성장의 양상을 포착할 수 있다는 점에서 근래에 주목을 받았지만, 결국 그 인지적 성장의 정체가 무엇인지에 관해서는 지나치게 불충분한 설명을 제시한다. 새로운 인지주의가 갖는 문제에 대한 인식은 학자들이 경험적인 증거에 초점을 맞추게 하는 계기가 되었는데, 본고에서는 작품의 인지적 가치를 설명하기 위해서 경험적 증거를 하나의 근거로 제시하는 방식을 고찰한 후, 향후의 논의의 방향을 정립하고자 한다.

        A New Neolignan Derivative, Balanophonin Isolated from Firmiana simplex Delays the Progress of Neuronal Cell Death by Inhibiting Microglial Activation

        Excessive activation of microglia causes the continuous production of neurotoxic mediators, which further causes neuron degeneration. Therefore, inhibition of microglial activation is a possible target for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Balanophonin, a natural neolignoid from Firmiana simplex, has been reported to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the anti-neuroinflammatory effects and mechanism of balanophonin in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)- stimulated BV2 microglia cells. BV2 microglia cells were stimulated with LPS in the presence or absence of balanophonin. The results indicated that balanophonin reduced not only the LPS-mediated TLR4 activation but also the production of inflammatory mediators, such as nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), in BV2 cells. Balanophonin also inhibited LPS-induced inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) protein expression and mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs), including extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2), c-Jun Nterminal kinase (JNK), and p38 MAPK. Interestingly, it also inhibited neuronal cell death resulting from LPS-activated microglia by regulating cleaved caspase-3 and poly ADP ribose polymerase (PARP) cleavage in N2a cells. In conclusion, our data indicated that balanophonin may delay the progression of neuronal cell death by inhibiting microglial activation.

        러시아어에서 공간 개념의 의미 확장: 공간 전치사 С를 중심으로

        Данная статья посвещена проблеме русского пространственного предлога с в сочетании с генетивом, прототипическим понятием которого является «источник». С точки зрения когнитивной лингвистики пространственное значение предлога с и его метафорическое расширение можно разделить в основном на четыре типа разновидностей: исходная точка перемещения, неотделимая связь между источником и не-источником, временной координат возникновения события, психическое и физическое состояние как причина возникновения события. При рассмотрении семантического расширения конструкций с предлогом с основное внимание было по возможности обращено на отличия данной конструкции от синонимических или подобных ей, т.е. конструкций с предлогами из, от и т.д. Метафорическое расширение прототипического значения предлога с позволяет обогащать языковые выражения о разнообразных действительностях человека.

        A multi-enzyme cascade reaction for the production of α,v-dicarboxylic acids from free fatty acids

        α,v-Dicarboxylic acids (α,v-DCAs) have numerous applications, as raw materials for producing variouscommodities and polymers in chemical industry. For example, dodecanedioic acid (DDDA), a monomer ofnylon 612 polymer is used for numerous applications such as plasticizers and adhesive. In this study,firstly the enzymatic production of DDDA from corresponding v-hydroxy fatty acid was optimized usingaldehyde reductase (AHR) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), and the cofactor imbalance andproficient regeneration thereof, is a major hurdle for the effective biosynthesis. To circumvent this, NAD(P)H oxidases (NOXs) from Lactobacillus brevis (LbrNOX), Brevibacterium glutamicum (BreNOX) andLactobacillus reuteri (LreNOX) were examined for the AHR/ALDH/NOX cascade and LreNOX was identifiedas suitable enzyme. Moreover, LreNOX was fused with AHR and employing this fusion protein inEscherichia. coli (E. coli) holding ALDH, nearly complete conversion (>99%) into DDDA was achieved from30 mM of 12-hydroxy dodecanoic acid within 12 h of whole-cell biotransformation (2.2-foldimprovement in productivity) turning out to be beneficial. Finally, the synthesis of DDDA fromcorresponding free fatty acid (dodecanoic acid), was performed by employing combination of AHR/ALDH/NOX cascade with CYP153AL.m, where 2.3 mM (0.53 g/L) of DDDA was produced in one-pot onestep.

        압출법을 이용한 골대체제용 다공성 인산칼슘 세라믹 개발

        Bone growth into a porous structure can be accelerated by the control of size, shape, volume and interconnectivity of the pores. The 3-dimensional interconnectivity of pore structures is one of important features for bone substitutes and tissue engineering scaffolds. The 3-D interconnected porous calcium phosphate ceramics were prepared using an extrusion method with a syringe in this study. The porosity and compressive strength were carefully examined upon the addition of PMMA (poly-methyl methacrylate) beads and HAp (hydroxyaptite) in a DCPD (dicalcium phosphate dehydrate-CN(calcium nitrate solution) system. Highly porous calcium phosphate ceramics having good compressive strength were obtained using a syringe extrusion method with PMMA beads and HAp. The highly macro- and microporous structured samples were obtained by the addition of PMMA beads and the reaction of DCPD-CN, respectively. The PMMA beads played the role of a sacrificial template for relatively large pores. The DCPD-calcium reaction generated the micro-pores and channels and connected the large pores which were formed by PMMA beads. The addition of HAp were significantly increased the compressive strength with decreasing porosity. The addition of HAp were also enhanced the phase transformation of calcium phosphates (TCP, CaO, etc) to HAp crystalline. The control of HAp formation can be applied for the control of the biodegradation rate of calcium phosphate. These porous calcium phosphate ceramics with high porosity and compressive strength can be applied for dental and orthopedic areas as a bone substitute materials

        The Early Response to Dietary Therapy can Predict the Late Outcome in Children with Intractable Epilepsy

        Background and Purpose Dietary therapy (DT), including the ketogenic diet (KD), is one of the nonpharmacological treatment options for patient with drug-resistant epilepsy. However, maintaining DT in patients without seizure reduction is very difficult, so it is critical for clinicians to decide when to stop this intervention. Methods We retrospectively analyzed early clinical and laboratory findings and the clinical characteristics of children who received DT. The maintenance of DT and the clinical seizure frequency were assessed at 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after KD initiation. Responders were defined as patients showing an overall reduction in seizure frequency of >50% relative to the baseline. Results We included 67 patients who received DT, but only 23 (34.3%) of these patients remained on DT at 6 months. Only 1 (5%) of the 20 responders at 1 month became a nonresponder at 6 months. The response rate at 6 months was significantly higher among patients under 2 years of age (15/17, 88.2%) than older patients (2/6, 33.3%; p=0.021). Moreover, the 6-month responders were significantly younger (29.4±38.6 months, mean±SD) than the nonresponders (98.9±84.6 months, p=0.012) at the initiation of the diet. A high blood β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) level at 1 month predicted a good DT response at 6 months. Conclusions Most 1-month responders maintained their response on DT for up to 6 months. The blood BHB level at 1 month was significantly correlated with the 6-month seizure outcome. Confirming clinical and laboratory biomarkers for the efficacy of DT requires further studies with larger cohorts.
