Background: The efficacy of two artificial tears, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and hyaluronate (HA), was com-pared in the treatment of patients with dry eye disease.Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on randomized controlled trials in the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases. The efficacy was compared in terms of the mean change from baseline in tear break-up time. The meta-analysis was conducted using both random and fixed effect models. The quality of the selected studies was assessed for risk of bias.Results: Five studies were included involving 251 participants. Random effect model meta-analysis showed no sig-nificant difference between CMC and HA in treating dry eye disease (pooled standardized mean difference [SMD]=-0.452; 95% confidence interval [CI], -0.911 to 0.007; P=0.053). In contrast, fixed effect model meta-analysis revealed significant improvements in the CMC group when compared to the HA group (pooled SMD=-0.334; 95% CI, -0.588 to -0.081; P=0.010).Conclusion: The efficacy of CMC appeared to be better than that of HA in treating dry eye disease, although meta-analysis results were not statistically significant. Further research is needed to better elucidate the difference in effi-cacy between CMC and HA in treating dry eye disease.
방위사업 계약에 있어 부당이득금의 합리적 산정방법 연구

According to the regulations of ‘Special Law for the Defense Industry’ revised in 1999, Korean government have implemented the unjust profit redemption system in defense program contract. However, conflicts on the estimation of unjust profit or the scope of redemption frequently arise among stakeholders, and many conflicts grow into costly litigations. This study aims to provide a proper estimation method of unjust profit and to specify a model which reasonably reflects the characteristics of defense program, particularly focusing on the incorrect estimation of costs or the fabricated information in government contract. This study is expected to suppress unnecessary conflicts and contribute to improving the efficiency of defense program. 1999년 개정된 「방위산업에 관한 특별조치법」에서 처음 규정된 바에 따라 정부는 방위사업계약을 체결하는 과정에서 계약상대자가 부정한 내용의 원가계산 자료를 정부에 제출하여 부당이득을 얻은 때에 환수하는 부당이득금 환수 제도를 시행하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 부당이득금 산정방법, 즉 환수범위에 대하여 계약당사자 간 논란이 지속되고, 소송으로 이어지는 사례가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 부당이득에 대한 법적 성격을 살펴보고, 방위사업 현실에 맞는 부당이득금 산정방법을 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 계약당사자 간 부당이득에 대한 분쟁 발생을 억제하고 나아가 원활한 방위사업수행에 기여하고자 한다.

Web Service is a new model based on web to offer dynamic information for a user's request. Currently, the web service discovery mechanism is not efficient because it does not support automatic discovery based on the semantics or capabilities of a web service. The language for semantic web service, such as OWL-S, is being developed to express the capability of a web service semantically. Such semantics can support the more flexible discovery of web services. Web service discovery occurs when the provider's description matches to that of requester. But the matching can fail when the ontologies of service description differ from that of the requester although the requester wants that Web Service. In distributed environment service providers develope their semantic web services independently and tend to use their ontologies to describe web services. So a new approach must be required to avoid service discovery failure. In this paper, a method of annotating the query of requester and discovering semantic web services without service discovery failure is proposed.
Production, Isolation and Biological Activity of Nargenicin from Nocardia sp. CS682

Culture broth of an actinomycete isolate, Nocardia sp. CS682 showed specifically higher antibacterial activity against methicilin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Purified substance from the organism, CS-682, which is active against MRSA and Micrococcus leuteus, is a C28H37NO8 (M+H+, observed: 516.83) and identified as an unusual macrolide antibiotic, nargenicin. The chemical structure of CS-682 was identified by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and (¹H-¹H and ¹H-13H) COSY. The anti-MRSA activity of CS-682 was stronger than that of oxacillin, vancomycin, monensin, erythromycin, and spiramycin. Phylogenetic analysis showed that strain CS682 is closely related to Nocardia tenerifensis DSM 44704T (98.7% sequence similarity), followed by N. brasiliensis ATCC 19296T (98.4% sequence similarity). The ability of Nocardia sp. CS682 to produce nargenicin was unique.

We constructed four recombinant plasmids to enhance the production of clavulanic acid (CA) in Streptomyces clavuligerus NRRL3585: (1) pIBRHL1, which includes ccaR, a pathway-specific regulatory gene involved in cephamycin C and CA biosynthesis; (2) pIBRHL2, containing claR, again a regulatory gene, which controls the late steps of CA biosynthesis; (3) pGIBR containing afsR-p, a global regulatory gene from Streptomyces peucetius; and (4) pKS, which harbors all of the genes (ccaR/claR/afsR-p). The plasmids were expressed in S. clavuligerus NRRL3585 along with the ermE* promoter. All of them enhanced the production of CA; 2.5-fold overproduction for pIBRHL1, 1.5-fold for pIBRHL2, 1.6-fold for pGIBR, and 1.5-fold for pKS compared to the wild type.
