The marine microalgae Isochrysis galbana was cultured under various light–emitting diode (LED) light conditions with different wavelengths to examine changes in growth and in amino acid and fatty acid profiles. The culture conditions for the microalgae were Conway medium, salinity of 33 psu, temperature of 24°C, and a 16/8 h light/dark photoperiod. Six light sources, including 5 units of 180W LED lamps (peak wavelength: blue [LB] 470 nm; green [LG] 525 nm; yellow [LY] 595 nm; red [LR] 636 nm; white [LW] 442 nm) and 1 unit of a 175W metal halide (MH) lamp, were used for the experiment. The dry cell weights (gL–1) of I. galbana under different light conditions were in the order of LW>LB≥MH>LR>LG>LY. Levels of essential amino acids were revealed to be significantly higher under LW, LG, and MH than under the other wavelengths (P<0.05). The fatty acid, unsaturated fatty acid, and DHA contents of I. galbana were higher under MH, LW, and LG. In addition, the carotenoid content was higher under MH, LW, and LG than under the other wavelengths (P<0.05). The fucoxanthin content was highest under MH (0.28%) and lowest under LY (0.2%), and it was 0.26% under LW and LG. The results indicate that the combined use of LW and LG is effective when using LED lamps for I. galbana cultivation.
Irradiance Distribution in East Sea by Using Measured Optical Properties for Squid Jigging Vessels

A fishing lamp is the instrument for attracting distributed fish to a certain place, and is the lightingsystem mainly used in fishery. In the inshore fishing, most fishing lamps are used for squid and hairtailjigging fishing, and the light source of the fishing lamps mainly used is metal halide with 1.5 KW inelectric power consumption. We will analyze the irradiance distribution according to depth because squidis attracted towards light. To analyze irradiance distribution by such fishing lamps, data for seawater Type-IIamong the seawater types defined in 1976 are applied to East Sea. However, the Type-II data havelimitations in analyzing precise seawater transmission characteristics, due to insufficient information ondeep seawater. This paper analyzed the irradiance distribution of fishing lamps using the measurementof transmission characteristics in the seawater in East Sea up to 100 m underwater instead of Type-IIdata, which is not sufficient for transmission. A compensation factor was drawn between the actualmeasurement data and Type-II data through seawater transmission characteristics simulation.

In this work, polymer-stabilized simple cubic blue phase (PSBPII) samples with three reflective elementary colors (red, green, and blue) were successfully fabricated. The PSBPII samples showed uniform alignment after rubbing treatment, and a wide temperature range of over 40–50°C, including room temperature. They also exhibited robustness against lattice deformation by an applied electric field.
발전기 기동정지계획에 관한 지역 최적해 탐색 알고리즘의 개발

발전기 기동정지계획 문제(unit commitment problem; UCP)는 하나의 전력시스템을 구성하는 다수의 발전기에 대해서 주어진 제 약식을 만족하는 기동시간, 정지시간, 발전량을 결정하는 문제이다. 최근 전력 수요가 증가하고 발전기의 종류가 다양해짐에 따라 효율적인 기동정지계획의 수립은 경제성 관점에서 중요한 문제로 부각되고 있다. 발전기 기동정지계획의 정식화는 기동비, 최소 기동 시간, 최소 정지 시간 등의 제약식을 고려한다. 제약식의 구조적인 특징 때문에 보통 UCP 문제의 해를 구할 때 스케줄을 먼저 결정하게 되고 그 후에 발전량을 결정한다. 본 논문에서는 스케줄 결정이 결정된 후에 발전량의 최적 배분 문제에 대해 논의한다. 먼저 스케줄 결정 하에 발전량 배분에 있어 최적해 조건을 도출하고 최적해가 아닌 경우 최적 발전량을 찾는 효율적인 방법을 제안하였다. 또한 발전 스케줄이 결정되어 있는 UCP 가능해에 대해 인접 스케줄을 찾는 휴리스틱 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법을 통해 이전의 연구들이 제안한 해의 지역 최적 여부를 판단하고 최적해가 아닌 경우 새로운 지역 최적 해를 찾았다.
