The purpose of this study was to examined the effect of supervised regulary aerobic exercise program with cardiorespiratory function of obese children. The subjects were 16 obese Childrens(elementary school 4∼5 grade), and engaged in regulary aerobic exercise program for 9 weeks(5 days/week, 100 min/day, 60∼70% HRmax) with mountain climbing, basketball and football. The items of cardiorespiratory function measured VEmax, HRmax, RQmax, VCO₂max, VCO₂max, VCO₂max/kg and BFmax after treadmill exercise load. The conclusion of this study was as follows ; 1. In body composition, there were significant decrease(P<0.001) after aerobic exercise for 9 weeks in body weight, percent body mass index 2. In cardiorespiratory function, there were significant increase(P<0.001) after aerobic exercise for 9 weeks in VEmax and VCO₂max by treadmill exercise load. 3. In cardiorespiratory function, there were significant increase(P<0.001) after aerobic exercise for 9 weeks in VO₂mex and RQmax by treadmill exercise load. 4. In cardiorespiratory function, there were significant increase(P<0.001, P< 0.01) after aerobic exercise for 9 weeks in VO₂max/kg and BFmax by treadmill exercise load.

A case of a female Manic Depressive Illness patient with goitrous hypothyroidism is presented. After ten and half months of lithium maintenance therapy starting during her first psychiatric admission, she was admitted again due to acute recurrent manic episode. On admission, she complained of easy fatigability and cold intolerance, and thyroid gland was palpable and enlarged in moderate degree. Thyroid function test revealed markedly increased TSH and moderately decreased thyroxine levels. TRH stimulation test showed an exaggerated response. Needle biopsy specimen revealed chronic lymphocytic and immune complex thyroiditis. However, antithyroglobulin and antimicrosomal antibodies were negative. In pretreatment thyroid evaluation on her first admission, neither goiter nor thyroid function abnormality was detectable and no signs of underlying thyroid disease or hereditary predisposition to hypothyroidism were present. Within three weeks of discontinuation of lithium, goiter was no more palpable and within five weeks, thyroid function test returned to normal range. The possibility that patients with underlying thyroiditis may be particularly susceptible to a rapid onset of lithium-induced hypothyroidism is discussed.

We extend the ranges of the vacuum standards to 10^-6 Pa by injecting the gas flow into the lower vacuum chamber of the orifice flow type vacuum standards system. The systematic error of the vacuum measurement has been reduced by measuring temperature accurately by reducing leak rate of the flowmeter and by attaching the ballast tank to flowmeter. We measure N_2, He and Ar gases for the sensitivity of nude ionization gauge for the check of the vacuum accuracy. The results are compared with the result of other research institute.

Long term occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may cause adverse effects to the central nervous system with neurobehavioral symptoms. And some organic slovents have been suggested to cause impairment of tuberoinfundibular dopaminergic activity and neurochemical mechanisms controlling pituitary secretion. For the purpose of assessing neuroendocrine effects in occupational solvents exposure, hormonal study settings (shoes-manufacturing industry & fishing products industry) and compared with nonexposed controls(33 men, 85 women). Male workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma level of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) than nonexposed male controls. While female workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma levels of growth hormone(GH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) than nonexposed female controls. The results of significant decrease in plasma concentrations of pituitary hormones(FSH, GH, and TSH) in workers exposed solvent mixtures indicate that occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may induce neuroendocrine effects through an effect on hypothalamic pituitary axis.
