        수학자 보재 이상설(李相卨)의 근대자연과학 수용 -『백승호초(百勝胡艸)』를 중심으로-

        Sang-Seol Lee(1870-1917) wrote a manuscript BaekSeungHoCho(百勝胡艸) in the late 19th century. BaekSeungHo-Cho was transcribed in classical Chinese from the 1879 Japanese book Physics(物理學) by Teizo Ihimori (1851-1916). Sang-Seol Lee, a famous independence activist, is also called Father of the Modern Mathematics Education of Korea,because of his early contribution to the modern mathematics education in the 19th century. In this paper, we introduce contents of his manuscript BaekSeungHoCho for the first time and discuss the significance of this book. Also, we show his constribution on the introduction to modern physics in the late 19th century Korea.

        이광수 초기 단편소설의 모티프 양상연구

        There is no doubt that Lee, Kwang-soo is a memorial author in history of Korean literature. His early shot stories are significant that they have some features of modern novels besides they are recognized as start line of Lee`s literary achievement. However, the literati who has studied Lee`s novels has been depreciating his works and analyzing them with relating non-literary aspects, which is definitely inappropriate to study literary material. This essay will be tracing the process which the motives of Lee`s early shot stories is embodying the themes to evaluate objectively the significance of the shot stories. The concept of the motif which is selected as a method of this analysis is based on the motif theory of B. Tomashevsky. The motif of Lee`s early shot stories is divided into 3 groups. The first motive is `Marriage`. Lee, Kwang Soo kept talking about marriage in his stories written in 1910`s. The stories about marriage are `Cold-Heartedness(無情)`, `A boy`s tear (소년의 비애)` and `To my little friend(어린 벗에게)` and so on. These shout stories express how badly the antinomy of marriage out of date affect whole society. In addition, there are various characters in these stories to describe that the problems of marriage are occurring to all kind of stratums in society. They are evaluated that the quality is a little lower than his other works because there is something out of the themes which should be focused on marriage discovered. The second motif is `Sacrifice`. These works were written before Korea became a colony of Japan , and one can feel Lee`s patriotism through `A young a sacrifice (어린희생)`, `Dedicator(헌신자)`. Lee is emphasizing antagonism against Japan and education for independent development of Korea. However, these stories have some defects which the author is equating patriotism and philanthropy and making readers confused by emphasizing parts which have nothing to do with `Sacrifice`.The last motif is `Solitude`. This demonstrates Lee`s internal conflict after Korea belonged to Japan; `Kim Kyung(김경)``, `Wandering(방황)` and `Yoon, Kwang Ho(윤광호)`. The characters of these stories are straying people, and they point the importance of individualism through showing conflict between nationalism and individualism. In other words, people have to overcome loneliness first. Lee, Kwang-soo`s early works are very meaningful from a point of literary veiw because they were written with very close relation with the state of the day and make perceive the thoughts of the intellect. Moreover, there are some modern aspects discovered in Lee`s early works.

        수학자 이상설이 소개한 근대자연과학: <식물학(植物學)>

        This paper deals with contents that Sang-Seol Lee contributed to the natural science in the 19th century Korea. Prof. Sung-Rae Park, the science historian, called Sang-Seol Lee Father of the Modern Mathematics education of Korea. Sang-Seol Lee wrote a manuscript Botany with a brush in late 19th century. Botany was transcribed from Science Primers: Botany (written by J. D. Hooker), which is translated into Chinese by Joseph Edkins in 1886. The existence of Sang-Seol Lee`s book Botany was not known to Korean scientists before. In this paper, we study the contents of Botany and its original text. Also we analyze people`s level of understanding Western sciences, especially botany at that time. In addition, we study authors of 16 Primers for Western Knowledge. We study the contribution of mathematician Sang-Seol Lee to science education in the 19th century Korea.

      • 용량이행형 KrF 레이저의 개발

        We have developed a KrF excimer laser system with UV preionized charge transfer type and an analysis program of discharge characteristics which oilers calculations of the deposited energy, nonlinear discharge resistance, and electron number density in the laser tube. In addition, we have developed a pulse compression system with MPC type for excitation of excimer laser. From this system, we obtained a maximum output energy of 80 mJ, laser pulse width of 40 ns [FWHM], and overall efficiency of 0.32%. Calculating with analysis program, deposited energy, nonlinear discharge resistance, and electron number density were found to be 200 MW, ∞∼0.17Ω, 1×10 exp (16) ㎝^(-3), respectively. The saturable inductor of pulse compression system made of Metglas 2605 S-2 and Z-11, and the compression characteristics of saturable inductors are compared. With this system, 6.2 us [FWHM], 96 A pulse at the first stage was compressed to 0,4 us [FWHM], 1.61kA pulse at the last stage, and hence the current gain and compression ratio were 16.8 and 17, respectively.

      • Ferrous Oxalate Dihydrate부터 다공질 철분말의 제조 및 소결성

        A systematic study on the production of fine iron powders containing numerous micro-pores by reduction of ferrous oxalate dihydrate and also on the sintering behavior of their powder compacts to impart uniformly dispersed fine pores in the sintered mass has been carried out. Very fine porous iron powders(B.E.T. size≤0.4㎛, specific surface area 15m²/g) produced from ferrous oxalate dihydrate were resulted from the evolution of gases during reduction process. Powders reduced around 400℃ for 30∼60 min, showed the good sinterability due to a kind of the activated sintering even at low sintering temperature (700-800℃), mainly because of lager surface area and unreacted inclusions.

      • Electron transport complex I 의 전자전달특성

        An electron-transport system, complex I, was isolated from bovine heart mitochondria. Michaelis constants, catalytic constants of the complex, and the effects of temperature and pH on the activity of the complex were measured. The NADH-ferricyanide reductase activity of the complex was maximized at 38℃ and above pH7. Michaelis constants of the complex were approximated to be 10-⁴∼10-³m and 5×10??M for ferricyanide and NADH respectively. Catalytic constants, K??. for ferricyanide and NADH were approximately 55sec-¹and 15.1sec-¹respectively. Quinone (2,5-cyclohexadene-1, 4-dione) was fouund out not to be a fittable substrate for the complex.

      • 소의 심장 cytochrome c oxidase의 전자전달 특성

        Cytochrome c oxidase (complex Ⅳ) was isolated from bovine heart mitochondrion. The spectra of isolated cytochrome c oxidase which was considered to be oxidized showed absorption bands at 598nm and 421nm in the oxidized form and at 604nm and 443nm in the reduced form. The activity of cytochrome c oxidase measured by the redox system of ferrocytochrome c-oxygen was not affected by NH₄OH and ethylenediamine. It was, however, found that 2-mercaptoethanol and potassium cyanide inhibited its reactivity respectively.

      • 남녀별 음주율 현황과 음주와 관련된 요인분석

        In this study, drinking prevalence and the factors associated with drinking by gender were investigated. A cross-sectional study was conducted from 22 April to 3 May in 2002. 1000 subjects(301 females and 699 males) aged 13 to 59 were personally interviewed by trained interviewers. Data on socio-demographic characteristics, drinking related behaviors and health behaviors of subjects were collected. Among females, 191(63.5%) subjects were drinkers and preferred beverage was beer. Drinkers were likely to be 30-39 year-old, employed, religionless, smokers and metropolitan city residents. Among males, 579(82.8%) subjects were drinkers and preferred beverage was Soju. Drinkers were likely to be 19-29 year-old, religionless, jobless, smokers and county residents. After adjusting for various confounders, age, religion and smoking were statistically significantly related to drinking. Smoker(Odds ratio=2.68 females, 2.77 males) and catholic-buddhist(OR=1.51 female, 3.83 males) had higher drinking risk than non-smoker and protestant. County residents had borderline significantly lower drinking risks(OR=0.50) than metropolitan city residents among females.

      • 8-hydroxyguanine이 전립선비대증 발생에 미치는 효과

        연구목적: 전립선비대증은 노화현상에 의해 발생하는 질환으로서 임상적으로 주로 50세 이상에서 증상이 나타난다. 산소 라디칼은 DNA의 염기에 다양한 손상을 미칠 수 있다. 산소 라디칼에 의한 DNA의 변화에는 여러 가지 형태가 있으며 이러한 변화들 가운데서 guanine이 8-oxoguanine (8-hydroxyguanine, oh8Gua)으로의 수산화(hydroxylation) 반응은 가장 흔히 관찰되는 형태로서 노화 및 만성 퇴행성 질환, 기타 여러 질환의 중요한 병인으로 인식되고 있다. 세포에 유해한 영향을 주는 oh8Gua의 생성으로부터 유전자를 보호하는 수복효소 중 8-oxoguanine-DNA glycosylase (OGG1)가 주된 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있는데 이 효소를 생산하는 유전자인 hOGG1은 사람마다 유전자형이 다르다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전립선비대증이 노화와 관련된 hOGG1 유전자형에 따라서 발생에 차이가 있는지를 조사하였다. 대상 및 방법: 충북대학교 병원에서 전립선비대증으로 진단 받고 입원하여 경요도전립선절제술을 받은 환자로 병리 조직학적으로 전립선비대증이 확인된 81명을 환자군으로 하였으며, 충청북도내 10개 군에서 50세 이상의 건강한 성인 남자 764명을 대상으로 실시한 전립선 무료검진에서 경직장 초음파 검사상 전립선 크기 20 gm 이하, 국제 전립선 증상 점수(IPSS) 7점 이하, 요속 10 ㎖/s 이상, 전립선 특이 항원(PSA) 4.0 ng/㎖ 이하인 81명을 대조군으로 설정하였다. 이들에서 채취한 혈액에서 genomic DNA를 얻은 후 PCR-SSCP (polymerase chain reaction-single stranded conformation polymorphism), 직접 염기서열분석(direct DNA sequencing) 및 RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism)를 통해서 두 군 사이의 hOGG1 유전자의 다형성을 분석하였다. 결과: 대조군에서 codon 326형은 Ser326Ser형이 12례(14.8%), Ser326Cys형이 51례(63.0%), Cys326Cys형이 18례(22.2%)였으며 전립선비대증 환자군에서는 Ser326Ser형이 15례(18.5%), Ser326Cys형이 34례(42.0%), Cys326Cys형이 32례(39.5%)로 두 군 사이에 통계적인 유의성이 관찰되었다(p=0.022). 또한 Cys326Cys형과 나머지(Ser326Ser, Ser326Cys)형으로 나누어 시행한 통계 분석에서도 대조군에서는 각각 18례(22.2%), 63례(77.8%)였으며 전립선비대증 환자군에서는 32례(39.5%), 49례(60.5%)로 통계적인 유의성이 관찰되었다(p=0.017, OR=2.286, 95% CI=1.149-4.546). 결론: hOGG1 유전자의 형태와 전립선비대증의 발생과는 밀접한 관련이 있었다. 즉 hOGG1 Cys326Cys형을 가진 사람에서 전립선비대증이 발생한 가능성이 높을 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase (OSS1) rapairs DNA by removing 8-oxoguanine (oh8Gua), a highly mutagenic oxidative DNA adduct. Recently, the human gene for OGG1 (hOGG1) was cloned and several genotypes have been reported. However, the implications of such genotypes in benign prostatic lyperplasia have not been demonstrated. To assess the involvement of hOGG1 associated with the aging process on the developing of BPH, we analyzed the genetic polymorphisms of hOGG1. Materials and Methods: We studied the hOGG1 gene polymorphisms in 81 cases of BPH and 81 cases of normal controls. We performed the SSCP, PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and direct sequencing to characterize the genetic polymorphisms of hOGG1 in both BPH patients and controls. Results: We found two polymorphic sites. A serine326/cysteine polymorphism at codon 326 (1a type) in exon 7 was associated with an exchange of amino acid. Another polymorphic site at codon 324 (1b type) in exon 6 was silent. We found that the distribution of hOGG1 genotypes in BPH patients (Ser326Ser type 18.5%, Ser326Cys type 42.0% and Cys326Cys type 39.5%) was significantly different from that in controls (14.8%, 63.0% and 22.2%, respectively) (p=0.022). Homozygosity for the Cys326Cys genotype significantly increased the risk of developing BPH, with the odds ratio (OR) being 2.286 (95% confidence interval [CI]=1.149-4.546) Conclusion: Our results suggest that the hOGG1 Cys326Cys genotype might play a important role in the development of BPH.

      • 道市의 歷史的 文化環境 保存과 活用方案에 關한 硏究

        The conservation and application of historical environment is one of alternatives that are able to solve urban affairs. From this point of view, there is a necessity of research on these conservation and application. The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. For the sake of conservation and application in historical environment, there are five steps(1. enlightenment ㆍ movement, 2. investigation ㆍ appraisal, 3. appointment ㆍ selection, 4. control ㆍ reformation, 5. application ㆍ management) 2. There are incentives of uniform control, special district control, performance control, TDR, PUD, MXD that are the programs of urban planning in historical environment. 3. The physical facilities of historical environment have to be make the use of parks, museum, art gallery, rest room etc. 4. There is necessity of residents-participation in conservation and application of historical environment.
