The rapid increase in the consumption of products that contain rare metals has highlighted the importance of recycling and recovering resources from these products when they enter the waste stream. Among various metal resources that can be recovered, this study analyzes the waste streams of cobalt and palladium to determine how their waste resource circulation can be improved at each stage of the waste stream. The findings of this study point to improvements and strategies that can be made at individual stages. First, at the discharge/import stage, the implementation of tariff quotas for specific recycled metal resources is suggested to allow the systemic categorization of waste metals as resources. At the collection/discarding stage, a major problem is the instability in the supply of scrap metals, which may be better managed by changing the bidding process for the scrap metals. At the pretreatment stage, possible areas for improvement are uncovered concerning technical areas, such as technological development and improving the efficiency of material recycling, as well as policy-wise, for instance, expanding the regulation for manufacturers to produce products that are designed to facilitate resource recovery, increasing incentive for closed recycling, and refining the guidelines and standards for recycling. At the resource recovery stage, as the waste metal recycling industry consists of businesses that vary in size, policies to promote cooperation and coexistence between large and smaller enterprises will benefit the industry in the long-run. Lastly, at the product production/export stage, a tariff on exporting waste resources that contain cobalt and palladium will help control the amount of waste metals that are shipped abroad.
사경찰(Private Police)의 피로도가 이직의도와 직무만족에 미치는 영향

종래에는 경찰(Police 또는 Policing)의 개념을 국가 또는 정부의 경찰조직을 의미하여 치안질서유지를 위한 법집행기관으로서의 공경찰(Public Police)만을 경찰로 이해하였다. 그러나 급변하는 현대사회의 특성상 파생된 범죄의 양상은 양적․질적으로 다변화되고 심화됨에 따라 공경찰의 활동만으로는 범죄대응에 한계를 갖는 반면 국민은 개인의 생명․신체․재산 등에 대한 사회적 안전에 대한 욕구는 늘어 치안서비스의 요구는 증가하게 되었다. 이에 따라 민간부문에서 담당하는 사경찰(Private Police)이 요청되게 이르면서 선진국에서는 경찰의 개념을 사회 안전과 평화유지라는 보다 넓은 개념으로 이해하여 사경찰의 활동을 경찰개념에 포섭하고 있다. 결국 이 양자는 상호이해와 협조를 통하여 치안서비스에 공동목표를 두기 때문이다. 따라서 사경찰의 활동도 치안서비스 활동이므로 사경찰의 직무만족의 정도는 곧 치안분야에서 중요한 문제로 연결된다. 사경찰 스스로 직무만족을 느끼고 조직에 몰입할 때 보다 향상된 양질의 치안서비스를 제공할 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구도 사경찰의 직무만족과 관련하 였다. 사경찰은 그 수행에 따라 주체가 다르지만 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 사경찰의 대부분을 차지하는 민간경비원에 한정하였다. 이 연구는 24시간 교대근무를 하는 민간경비원이 자각한 피로도가 이직의도 및 직무만족에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 따라서 국내․외의 선행연구에서 신뢰성과 타당성이 검증된 설문문항들을 본 연구에 맞게 수정․보완하여 수도권 및 대전․충청지역의 20개 경비업체에 근무하는 경비원 215명을 대상으로 조사를 하였다. 자료의 분석은SPSS 14.0K 통계패키지를 이용하여 변수들 간의 관계를 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다. 분석결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민간경비원들이 자각하는 피로도는 이직의도에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 민간경비원의 피로도를 감소시킴으로서 개인이 몸담고 있던 조직에서 떠나려는 결정도 감소될 수 있다는 것이다. 둘째, 민간경비원이 자각하는 피로도는 직무만족에 유의한 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. The fatigue of the Private Security Guard, such as the increase of demanded conditions, are increasing by the change of environment of inside and outside of the Society. Private Security Guard unable to solve the problem of fatigue created by their tasks has high possibility of jeopardizing their associated and citizens as well as themselves. Furthermore, fatigue can also have not good effects on Organization in various aspects. Accordingly, the problem of Private Security Guard's fatigue has significant meanings especially on effectiveness of the Organization. So this study is performed to provide implications for Private Security Guard's life quality grows by grasping not only influence that fatigue has on job attitudes, and whole relation among fatigue, Turnover Intention and Job Satisfaction that are consequences of fatigue. The private security companies of their Turnover Intention and job satisfaction from the job to the significant influence of, Dae-Jun․Chungnam Province and the 215 Private Security Guards working in 20 companies. This following the summary of this study in the relation between perceptions on fatigues and Turnover Intention and Job Satisfaction, perceptions on fatigues influences on Turnover Intention.
비만 소아의 혈중 아디포넥틴과 인슐린저항성에 관한 연구

Purpose:Adiponectin, adipose tissue-specific protein, has anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic properties. It has been found to have a negative correlation with obesity and to play a role in modulating glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity. Serum adiponectin concentrations are decreased in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes. We investigated the difference in adiponectin levels between obese and non-obese children, and evaluated the relationship of serum adiponectin with body mass index(BMI), serum fasting insulin, lipid profiles and homeostasis model assessment(HOMA) in children. Methods:We measured serum adiponectin levels by radioimmunoassay in 113 children(82 obese children and 31 non-obese controls) from 8 to 15 years of age, and also checked BMI, fasting serum glucose, insulin and lipid profiles. Fasting and postprandial serum adiponectin concentrations were compared by oral glucose tolerance tests in 27 obese children. The correlations of adiponectin with BMI, insulin, low density lipoprotein(LDL)-cholesterol and HOMA were analyzed by Pearson's correlation. Results:The serum adiponectin levels were significantly lower in the obese group(19.7 mg/mL) than in the non-obese group(27.5 mg/mL)(P<0.01). Serum adiponectin concentrations were negatively correlated with BMI(r=-0.39, P<0.01), serum insulin(r=-0.28, P<0.01), LDL-C(r=-0.20, P<0.01) and HOMA(r=-0.22, P<0.01). At oral glucose tolerance tests in obese children, postprandial 2 hours adiponectin level(19.8 mg/mL) was decreased compared to fasting level(25.8 mg/mL)(P<0.01). Conclusion:Serum adiponectin concentrations were inversely related to adiposity and insulin resistance in children. We suggest the serum adiponectin level could be used as an early marker of insulin resistance in obese children. 목 적 : 식생활과 생활양식의 서구화로 인하여 우리나라도 비만의 유병률이 급격히 증가하는 추세이며 특히 소아비만은 이미 소아기에 합병증 발생의 위험과 더불어 성인비만으로 이행될 가능성이 크기에 이에 대한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있는 추세이다. 아디포넥틴은 최근 발견된 지방세포에서 분비되는 adipocytokine으로 비만에서 아디포넥틴의 감소가 인슐린저항성과 동맥경화증의 발병과 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 비만아와 정상 체중아의 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도의 차이와 체질량지수(BMI) 및 인슐린저항성과의 상관관계를 알아보고자 하였다.방 법 : 2003년 1월부터 2003년 6월까지 BMI가 95 백분위 이상인 8-15세 사이의 비만아 82명(남아 54명, 여아 28명)과 대조군으로 정상 체중아 31명(남아 21, 여아10), 총 113명을 대상으로 신체계측을 하고 공복 후 채혈하여 혈중 아디포넥틴, 인슐린, 혈당 농도를 측정하였다. 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도를 비만여부와 사춘기 시기별로 비교하였으며 아디포넥틴과 체질량지수, 인슐린, HOMA 등과의 상관관계를 알아보았다.

This study examined the effects of demographic characteristics(education, income level)on the relationships among knowledge of textile fibers, information searching behavior on textile fabrics, and information sources of textile materials in children's clothings. The subjects were 307 mothers with preschool children(4∼6 years) in Seoul. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using T-test, analysis of variance, correlations, and crosstabulation analysis. The results indicated that : (1) Educational levels of consumers had significant influences on Knowledge of textile fibers, information searching behavior on textile fabric, and information sources of textile materials in children's clothings. (2) There were significant relationship between consumer's knowledge of textile fibers and information searching behavior on textile materials in children's clothings.
A Case of Eosinophilic Fasciitis Presenting as Pitting Edema of the Lower Extremities

Eosinophilic fasciitis is a rare disease characterized by diffuse fasciitis with peripheral eosinophilia and progressive induration and thickening of theskin and soft tissues. We report a 19-year-old female who presented with pitting edema in both lower extremities. She had a history of excessivephysical activity before her symptoms developed. Physical examination revealed 2+ pitting edema in both lower legs. She complained of mild painin both knee joints and feet, with no tenderness or heating sensations. Laboratory results were unremarkable except for severe eosinophilia. Parasiteinfection, venous thrombosis, and cardiac and renal problems were excluded. A magnetic resonance imaging study of both lower extremities revealedincreased signal intensity in the subcutaneous lesions, consistent with superficial inflammation of the fascia. Mixed perivenular lymphoplasmacyticand eosinophilic infiltration in the subcutaneous lesion were observed on biopsy. The patient was treated with corticosteroids, resulting inremarkable improvement in both edema and eosinophilia.

Background: We aimed to evaluate the performance of serum cystatin C-based equations in calculating the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in patients with varying stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods: Serum cystatin C and creatinine levels were measured in 615 CKD patients. The CKD stage was determined by the creatinine-based estimated GFR (eGFR) equation using the four-variable abbreviated Modification of Diet in Renal Disease equation suggested by the Kidney Disease Outcome Quality Initiative with the addition of a coefficient applicable to Korean populations (K-aMDRD). In each CKD stage, the ratio of serum cystatin C to creatinine was calculated and six different cystatin C-based equations were used to estimate GFR. Cystatin C-based eGFR and aMDRD eGFR values were compared using the paired t test, Pearson correlation test, and the Bland–Altman plot. Results: The mean age of patients was 53.21±14.45 years; of the 615 patients, 346 were male. The serum cystatin C-to-creatinine ratio was inversely correlated with the CKD stage. Compared with the K-aMDRD values, the results of the Hoek, Filler, and Le Bricon’s cystatin C-based eGFR equations were lower in CKD Stages 1–3 and higher in Stages 4 and 5. However, the results of the Orebro-cystatin (Gentian) equation [GFR=100/ScytC (mL/minute/1.73 m2) – 14] were similar to those of the K-aMDRD equation in CKD Stages 4 and 5 (15.44±9.45 vs. 15.17±9.05 mL/minute/1.73 m2, respectively; P=0.722; bias=0.27±8.87). Conclusion: The eGFRs obtained from the six cystatin C-based equations differed widely. Therefore, further studies are required to determine the most accurate equation to estimate GFR in Koreans with CKD.

The national park should be preserved in accordance with the regulation, but the development planning or facilities management planning has not been faithful to the spirits of the regulation. Recently natural environment has been radically changed, and especially damaged by large scale development of Service Facilities Zone. Thus the effective land use planning of the national park is required. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose the alternative site for The Second Service Facilities Zone in Mt. Kyeryong National Park using the GIS, and to compare the alternative site with the existing development site. Site selection was based on Rules of Combination which covers topographic analysis, viewshed analysis, distance analysis from hot spring well, land use analysis, and forest stand analysis.
