폐경기 여성에서 호르몬 대치요법이 골대사의 생화학적 지표에 미치는 영향

The purposes of this study were to evaluate the effect of hormone replacement therapy on the bone mineral density and bone metabolism. Thirty-four postmeonpausal women, who visited Soonchunhyang University Hospital were assessed. After baseline study, conjugated equine estrogen [CEE, 0.625 mg, day 1∼30] plus medroxyprogesterone acetate [MPA, 5 mg, day 1∼12] were given for 12 months. The levels of serum osteocalcin, serum total alkaline phosphatase and urine deoxypyridinoline decreased significantly[p<0.05] after 12 months of hormone replacement therapy. Bone mineral density of Ward`s triangle of femur increased significantly[p<0.05] compared to basal level and 12months of hormone replacement therapy. These data suggest that hormone replacement therapy has effect of inhibiting bone turnover rate and increasing bone mineral density of Ward`s triangle of femur in postmenopausal women.
Ophthalmic Findings in 547 Korean Sapsaree Dogs

This study was performed to investigate the ophthalmic findings of the Korean traditional ‘Sapsaree’ dogs, and to provide ophthalmic references. Five hundred forty-seven Sapsaree dogs were randomly chosen without any criteria preference. Ophthalmic examination was performed bilaterally using ocular equipments, including slit-lamp biomicroscope, tonometer, direct and indirect ophthalmoscope. The obtained data for ophthalmic findings were analysis by the multivariate linear regression model to identify effects of sex, age and hair coat type. For congenital conditions, the incidence of persistent pupillary membrane (PPM) was the most common defect and there was present 8.8 % whereas for acquired ophthalmic diseases, cataract was the most commonly observed (3.7 %) in Sapsaree dog. Other frequent ocular finding included persistent hyaloid vessel remnant (PHVR, 6.2 %) in congenital conditions, and postinflammatory retinal degeneration (PIRD, 3.1 %) and corneal dystrophy (2.4 %) in acquired ophthalmic diseases. Only one significant effect was age of the Sapsaree for PIRD (P=0.040). There are no any significant effect for sex and hair coat types. This study will provide useful guidelines to clinicians and breeders for the basic ophthalmic information on this breed.

In the present study, a mathematical model has been formulated for the performance of polymer electrolyte fuel cells. Modify the concentration polarization equation using concentration coefficient that represents the characteristics of bipolar plate reactant distribution. The model predictions have been compared with experimental results and good agreement has been demonstrated for the cell polarization curves. The effects of operating parameters on the performance of fuel cells have been studied. Increases of operation pressure reduce the effect of temperature on the performance.
Statistical analysis and genetic diversity of three dog breeds using simple sequence repeats

There are more than 400 pure dog breedsdeveloped through intentional artificial selection andpurebred breeding. Purebred animals have higher risk ofinbreeding depression and hereditary diseases. We investigatedthe genetic diversity and structure of three dogbreeds in South Korea by using 12 microsatellite loci forone Korean native dog breed, Sapsaree, and two foreignbreeds, German shepherd and Belgian Malinois. The meanallele number of nine loci across all dog breeds was 4.833,and the number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 8. Themean of expected and observed heterozygosity were 0.415and 0.577, respectively. Sapsaree, Korean native dog, hadhigher level of genetic diversity than the foreign Germanshepherd and Belgian Malinois. The highest mean value ofpolymorphism information content was found in Sapsaree(0.480), followed by Belgian Malinois (0.373) and Germanshepherd (0.355). Pairwise genetic differentiation wasestimated using fixation index FST. Sapsaree and Germanshepherd (FST = 0.2536) and Sapsaree and Belgian Malinois(FST = 0.2522) had very great genetic differentiation,while moderate level of genetic differentiation wasobserved between German shepherd and Belgian Malinois(FST = 0.1003). These genetic information and structure ofthe three dog breeds will be effective in conservation andpreservation of the genetic diversity of the three dogbreeds.
