        Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of the Distal Common Bile Duct - A Case Report -

        Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the common bile duct (CBD) is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm, which is characterized by the presence of carcinomatous and sarcomatous components. We report a case of sarcomatoid carcinoma arising in the distal CBD. The patient was a 68- year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain. The computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasonography revealed a polypoid mass in the distal CBD. The resected specimen showed a polypoid mass with a narrow stalk in the distal CBD which was confined to the mucosa. The cut surface revealed a gray-whitish solid mass with focal hemorrhage and necrosis. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of carcinomatous and sarcomatous components without any heterologous elements. The sarcomatous area predominently consisted of pleomorphic spindle cells. The carcinomatous component was an adenocarcinoma. On immunohistochemistry, cytokeratin was coexpressed in the carcinomatous and sarcomatous components but vimentin was expressed exclusively in the sarcomatous component. The patient has been doing well for one year postoperatively.

        Collision of Three Histologically Distinct Endometrial Cancers of the Uterus

        A collision tumor is defined by the presence of two separate masses in one organ, which are pathologically distinct. We described a 70-yr-old patient who complained of abnormal vaginal bleeding with a collision tumor of the uterine corpus. The patient received total hysterectomy, bilateral salphingo-oophorectomy, bilateral pelvic-paraaortic lymphadenectomy, omentectomy, and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. The uterine corpus revealed three separate masses, which were located at the fundus, anterior and posterior wall. Each tumor revealed three pathologically different components, which were malignant mixed müllerian tumor, papillary serous carcinoma, and endometrioid adenocarcinoma. Among these components, only the papillary serous carcinoma component invaded the underlying myometrium and metastasized to the regional lymph node. Adjuvant chemotherapy and radiation therapy were performed. The patient is still alive and has been healthy for the last 8 yr. We have reviewed previously reported cases of collision tumors which have occurred in the uterine corpus.

        In order to characterize the optical properties of CdS thin films and CdS powders, the following experiments were performed: CdS wurtzite thin films were made using 99.99% CdS (Aldrich) powder and the $AlO_x$ membranes in $7{\times}10^{-6}$ torr(here, the average vacuum coating speed is $1{\AA}/sec$.). The surface states of CdS nano-particles with dimensions of 3.87 nm were studied through the fluorescence spectroscopy. From the resulting spectra exhibited, we can see a sharp fluorescence at 451 nm arising from the excitons on the CdS thin films, compared with the 448nm peak of the CdS powders.

        기업 합병·인수 과정에서 발생하는 범죄에 대한 수사

        Mergers and acquisitions (abbreviated M&A) are both an aspect of corporate strategy, corporate finance and management dealing with the buying, selling, dividing and combining of different companies and similar entities that can help an enterprise grow rapidly in its sector or location of origin, or a new field or new location, without creating a subsidiary, other child entity or using a joint venture. Terms of M&A in Republic of Korea law are Restriction on Combination of Enterprises in ‘Monopoly regulations and fair trade law’ or Written Agreement of Merger, Written Agreement of Consolidation and Division and Merger through Division of Company in Commercial Act. M&A cause positive effects on the corporate development, increase the corporate´s competitiveness, expand into new fields and more. However, M&A also cause negative effects, such as deepen monopoly structure and expend speculation tendency. This study explored the concept and form of the M&A in Republic of Korea society and the occurrent crime during the M&A. This study suggest improvement plan on Investigation based on these crimes caused by the M&A.

        ZnS/CdS 분말과 박막의 구조 및 광학적 특성

        The ZnS/CdS thin films were made using 99.99% ZnS and CdS(Aldrich) powders in $7{\times}10^{-6}torr$. The ZnS layer was coated over the CdS layer on an AlOx membrane within a vacuum, at the average speed of $1{\AA}/sec$. After studying the ZnS/CdS and CdS thin films(both with the dimensions of 2.52nm), using fluorescence spectroscopy and comparing the respective results together, we found that although both of the resulting spectra peaked at 390nm, the ZnS/CdS thin films showed a narrower peak, and a higher intensity of photoluminescence than the CdS thin films. The particles of ZnS/CdS thin films also proved to be more homogeneous in size. In addition, the ZnS layer acted as a protective layer. Also, after studying the spectra of ZnS/CdS thin films taken 30 days after their preparation, we found no signs of aging. These results were verified through the scanning electron microscopy(SEM), EDX analysis, thin film X-ray diffraction, and luminescence spectroscopy.

        Primary leptomeningeal glioblastomatosis is a rare and fatal tumor of the central nervous system, the condition is characterized by diffuse infiltration of the tumor in the meninges without evidence of primary tumor within the brain or spinal cord. We reported an unusual case of leptomengial glioblastomatosis, which was detected by the consecutive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cytology with application of immunohistochemistry, in addition to its cytologic findings. A healthy 21 year old man, who was enlisted in the army, presented with a stuporous mental state and diffuse enhancement of meninges without evidence of primary mass lesion in the brain and spinal cord on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). CSF cytology showed small loose clusters of tumor cells with single cells and lymphocytes. The tumor showed variable pleomorphism with coarse chromatin, irregular nuclear membranes and multi lobated nuclei. On immunohistochemical staining, the tumor cells were founded to be positive for GFAP. In conjunction with radiologic findings, brain biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of leptomenigeal glioblastomatosis. The use of immunohistochemistry is helpful in confirming CSF cytologic diagnosis in patients with primary leptomeningeal glioblastomatosis.

        췌장의 거대낭성 장액낭샘종 -2예 보고-

        The macrocystic form of serous cystadenoma of the pancreas is an uncommon benign neoplasm composed of few, relatively large cysts that are lined by uniform, glycogen-rich, cuboidal epithelial cells. We report here on two cases of pathologically proven macrocystic serous cystadenoma of the pancreas in a 45-year-old female patient and a 53-year-old female patient. Both these cysts were lined by low cuboidal epithelia without any evidence of mucin production. There was also no evidence of pancreatitis. These tumors were radiologically suspected as being mucinous cystic neoplasm or pseudocysts. Although the microscopic and immunohistochemical studies of the macrocystic variant are not different from the conventional serous microcystic cystadenoma, their unusual macroscopic features can lead to confusion for the clinicians and radiologists.

        $PbZrO_3$ 나노튜브의 졸-겔 형판 합성과 상전이

        We report the phase transition temperatures of the $PbZrO_3$ perovskite nanotubes made by sol-gel template synthesis. The lead zirconate($PbZrO{_3}$) nanotubes were prepared with a chelate sol-gel of zirconium tetrabutoxide($Zr(OBu){_4}$) and leadacetate($Pb(OAc){_2}-3H_2O$). $Whatman^(r)$ anodisc membranes, with a 200nm pore size, served as the template. After removing the template in the 6M-NaOH solution, the $PbZrO{_3}$ nanotubes so far have shown an anomalous transition temperature, $123.6^{\circ}C$ as measured by DSC with a small particle size, 15.4nm determined by X-ray analysis with the aid of Scherrer's equation.
