혈관대체체용 Polyurethane 지지체의 Compliance Property 향상을 위한 연구(I)

In this study, we prepared solvent casting polyurethane films (sPU) and electrospun polyurethane films (ePU) to compare their compliance for providing better mechanical properties for vascular graft replacement. Mechanical properties of the prepared specimens showed that Young's modulus of each specimen was 0.037 N/m2 (ePU) and 0.035 N/m2(sPU). Deformation energy of ePU and sPU specimens were 0.00098600 (J) and 0.0020706 (J), respectively, and porcine's aorta was 0.00034845 (J). The ePU specimen showed closer value to that of porcine's aorta than that of sPU specimen's. That means the compliance of the ePU revealed closer value to the compliance of the porcine's aorta than that of the sPU specimen. For surface property of the specimens, the contact angle of the ePU (57.39° ± 1.84) was more hydrophilic than that of sPU (64.73° ± 1.56). However, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) attachment and proliferation tests showed better attachment and proliferation (more than 20%) for the sPU specmen rather than the ePU specimen. Conclusively, the PU film made by nano fiber can provide better compliance property but cytocompatibility was somewhat behind compared to solvent cast PU film.
Self-Assembly of Polymeric Vesicle with Photoluminescence in Aqueous Solution

The vesicular nanostructure with an empty space in the core has been of great interests for the potential application such as a carrier in drug delivery. However, the vesicular nanostructures formed by surfactants and polymers have not enough contrast in the light or the electron, resulting in the lack of the information in the drug pathways or delivery efficiency. For understanding on the mechanism for the drug pathway of vesicles as carriers, therefore, it needs to enhance the contrast for the light or the electron by using inorganic materials. In this study, the fabrication of the quantum dot-polymer complex in aqueous solution have been studied by the simple mixing of the quantum dot and polymer. The small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and photoluminescence (PL) measurements revealed that the self-assembly of the quantum dot-polymer complex formed a vesicular structure with a strong photoluminescence in aqueous solution.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of and patient’s satisfaction with treatment of gingival melanin hyperpigmentation with a Nd:YAG laser and a high speed rotary instrument. Methods: Three patients with melanin hyperpigmentation in the anterior parts of the gingiva were chosen for this case study. Clinical photographs were taken at the preoperative state and three patients were treated under local anesthesia. In the maxilla,the gingival deepithelization was conducted with a high speed diamond bur, whereas, in the mandible with a Nd:YAG laser. Clinical photographs were taken immediately after the procedures and at the 1st, 2nd, and 4th week to evaluate clinical color changes. A week after the procedure, the patients filled out a questionnaire about any pain or discomfort. At the 4th week after the procedure, the patients filled out questionnaires about esthetic aspects of the results of treatment. Results: In all cases, both anterior gingival areas were depigmented with satisfaction and the patients did not complain of severe pain or discomfort. At the 1st week of healing, the gingiva showed moderate to fast epithelization. Two weeks after the procedure,clinically, the gingiva showed almost complete healing. Four weeks after the procedure, there was significant improvement in gingival melanin hyperpigmentation. Conclusions: The Nd:YAG laser and the high speed rotary instruments seem to be effective for the esthetic treatment of gingival melanin hyperpigmentation.

Background: Titanium is a well proven implantable material especially for osseointegratable implants by its biocompatibility and anti-corrosive surface properties. Surface characteristics of the implant play an important role for the evolution of bone tissue of the recipient site. Among the various surface modification methods, plasma treatment is one of the promising methods for enhance biocompatibility. We made microwave-induced argon plasma at atmospheric pressure to improve in titanium surface biocompatibility. Results: Various states of emission spectra from excited species-argon, nitrogen atoms and oxygen atoms were observed. The electron energy band structures are the unique characteristics of atoms and functional groups. Microwaveinduced argon plasma treatment changed the titanium surface to be very hydrophilic especially on the 5 s short treatment and 30 s, 90 s long treatment samples that detected by contact angle measurement. MC3T3-E1 attachment and proliferation assay significantly increased in 5 s at short treatment, 30 s, and 90 s at long treatment after 5 days incubation. Conclusions: Result indicated that microwave-induce argon plasma treatment would be an effective method to modify titanium surface for enhancing cell-material interactions.

One of the challenges in the interconnection of LAN and MAN to ATM is the support of connectionless traffic in the ATM network. A commonly proposed strategy consists of maintaining a low bandwidth VP(virtual path) between each pair of gateway and of requesting more bandwidth whenever a burst comes in from the LAN or MAN. Unfortunately this stratege places a heavy burden on the ATM control processor. Therefore we proposed BA(Bandwidth Advertising) scheme, which know available bandwidth and On-the-fly transmission, which transfer bursts without prior bandwidth reservation. The BA scheme and On-the-fly transmission for connectionless traffic is described and is compared with a bandwidth renegotiation strategy.
