Perilla is a Korean traditioanal crop and perilla seeds are frequently consumed in many food products as seasonings and seed oil in this country. To our knowledge, this is the first report on perilla seeds-induced anaphylaxis and specific IgE determination to perilla seeds. We experienced a 20-year old man who had developed whole body urticaria, facial swelling, and shortness of breath 2 hours after eating two dumplings seasoned with perilla seeds. He had developed two more episodes of allergic reactions after eating some food seasoned with perilla seeds before. The skin prick test with perilla seed extracts showed strong positive reactions, and serum specific IgE antibodies to perilla seeds were highly detected by ELISA. Oral provocation test showed rhinitis, conjunctivitis, urticaria, and severe asthmatic reaction. (Korean J Asthma Allergy Clin Immunol 2006; 26:94-97)
음성 중심 리모컨 보이스틱(Voistick)의 음성 발화 추이 및 음성 기능 만족도 분석

IPTV 서비스 리모컨에 음성 사용자 인터페이스 (Voice User Interface)가 탑재됨에 따라, 사용자는 음성을 경유해 실시간 TV 채널과 VOD 콘텐츠를 자유자재로 탐색할 수 있게 되었다. 본 연구는 음성 발화를 유도하는 기술과 형태를 리모컨에 적용하여, 해당 리모컨을 통한 음성 발화 추이와 음성 사용성, 만족도 분석을 목적으로 한다. 기술 연구를 통하여 IPTV 서비스 내 음성 사용성을 높일 수 있는 음성인식 자동화 기술을 리모컨에서 구현하고, 음성 중심의 하드웨어 디자인을 적용하여 음성 중심 리모컨 보이스틱(Voistick)을 개발하였다. 화면과 연계되는 보이스틱 리모컨의 초기 사용자 경험을 개선한 후, 자사 IPTV 서비스 사용자 2,256 명에게 배포하여 일정기간 사용하게 하여 음성 발화 추이를 분석하였다. 이후 설문을 통해 보이스틱 음성 기능에 대한 의견과 만족도를 수집하여, 텍스트 분석으로 음성 기능과 관련한 주요 이슈를 도출하고 대응 표본 T 검정을 통해 음성 기능 만족도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 보이스틱은 기존 리모컨보다 음성 발화를 평균적으로 더 유도하는 것으로 나타났다. 음성 기능 만족도 또한 보이스틱이 기존 리모컨보다 높은 것으로 나타났으나, 주관식 설문의 텍스트 분석에서는 신규로 탑재한 음성인식 자동화는 기술은 안정화가 필요하고, 음성 인식률 및 서비스 고도화가 수반되어야 함을 확인하였다.

BACKGROUND:The conazoles, difenoconazole, diniconazole, hexaconazole, penconazole and tetraconazole are a large class of synthetic fungicides used extensively for foliage and seed treatments in agricultural crops. The extensive use of conazoles has brought concerns on the potentiality of environmental contamination and toxicity. Thus studies on the development of methods for monitoring the conazoles are required. METHODS AND RESULTS: A modified quick, easy, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) method was involved in sample preparation. Quadrapole time of flight mass spectrometer (Q-TOF MS) in electron spray ionization (ESI) mode was employed to determine conazoles in garlic samples. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of conazoles by Q-TOF-MS ranged from 0.001 to 0.002 mg/L and 0.002 to 0.005 mg/L, respectively. Q-TOF-MS analysis exhibited less than 2.6 ppm error of accurate mass measurements for the detection of conazoles spiked at 0.05 mg/L in garlic matrix. Recovery values of conazoles fortified in garlic samples at 0.02, 0.05 and 0.1 mg/L were between 79.2 and 106.2% with a maximum 11.8% of standard deviation. No detectable conazoles were found in the domestic market samples by using the Q-TOF-MS method. CONCLUSION(s):High degree of confirmation for conazoles by accurate mass measurements demonstrated that Q-TOF-MS analysis combined with a QuEChERS method may be applicable to simultaneous determination of conazoles in garlic samples. GATA1 Expression in BCR/ABL1-negative Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

Background: This study aimed to determine GATA1 expression levels to better characterize subgroups in BCR/ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Methods: This study enrolled 49 patients diagnosed as having BCR/ABL1-negative MPN on the basis of the 2016 World Health Organization classification : nine polycythemia vera (PV), 17 essential thrombocythemia (ET), 12 prefibrotic primary myelofibrosis (prePMF), and 11 overt primary myelofibrosis (PMF). Relevant clinical and laboratory data were retrieved from the medical records. The molecular analysis of CALR and MPL mutations and quantification of JAK2 V617F allele burden were performed. GATA1 expression was assessed by an immunohistochemical assay on bone marrow biopsy. GATA1 expression was analyzed serially in 18 patients. Results: GATA1 expression decreased significantly in PMF compared with that in other subtypes, while no statistical difference was identified between ET and prePMF. GATA1 expression did not differ according to the mutation profiles or the allele burden of JAK2 V617F, but it decreased significantly in patients with overt fibrosis or leukemic transformation. Conclusions: Our results suggest that GATA1 expression is significantly low in PMF and decreases with progressive fibrosis and possibly with leukemic transformation, although our attempt to accurately distinguish between subgroups using GATA1 immunohistochemical approach did not achieve statistical significance. A large patient cohort with long term follow-up is required to evaluate the prognostic value of GATA1 expression.
