Cutaneous Infection by Fusarium solani in an Immunocompetent Patient

Fusarium species are widely distributed throughout the environment, and rarely cause infection in healthy individuals. Herein, we report a rare case of cutaneous infection by Fusarium solani in a healthy patient. A 64-year-old patient presented with a tender, erythematous, deep-seated nodule above the left ankle after an intralesional triamcinolone injection for lipoma was administered at a private clinic 1 month ago. Fungal hyphae were identified in subcutaneous tissue by skin biopsy using Gomori methenamine silver stain. Lactophenol cotton blue staining, fungal culturing, and 28S rRNA sequencing confirmed the presence of F. solani. After diagnosis, the patient was successfully treated with oral itraconazole.
The Advent of a New Object: Posthuman Ontology

This essay aims at discovering some ontological reality of the human as an object in the digital Age by deconstructing two underlying ideas of the liberal Humanism, dualism and anthropocentrism. Bruno Latour's Actor Network Theory(ANT) and Graham Harman's Object- Oriented Ontology(OOO) provide some foundational ideas to understand techno-centered posthuman conditions in which the boundaries between humans and nonhumans are radically blurring. They do not directly engage their theories with posthumanism, but their theories which abolish the exceptional position of the human reverberate with a postumanist stance which attempts to put humans and nonhumans on the same footing. Latour demonstrates in the discussion of modernity how the dualist distinctions like nonhumans/ humans, nature/ culture have ignored the hybrid nature of the real world. Harman expands the ontological realm of the objects by endorsing the things-in- themselves in his theory, OOO. The crux of these two philosophers' thoughts is to lift the human's burden to reduce every object and event for the humanist taxonomy, and to oppose any reductionist approaches to interpret the existence of a being.
