Purpose: We investigated whether endoscopic interventions, including laser endoureterotomy and balloon dilatation following hormone therapy, are a good choice to treat ureteral obstruction due to ureteral endometriosis instead of laparoscopic or open surgery. Materials and Methods: Patients with ureteral obstruction due to endometriosis who underwent endoscopic intervention between 2004 and 2021 were reviewed. Patients with other causes of ureteral obstruction or previous ureteral surgery were excluded from the study. The primary endpoint was the 3-month success rate of endoscopic intervention with or without hormone therapy. Secondary endpoints were the success rate of endoscopic intervention between the hormone-treated and hormone-untreated groups at 6 months and the success rate according to the hormone therapy response of endometriosis at 3 and 6 months. Results: Eighteen patients with 19 ureter units were evaluated in this study, including 12 patients receiving hormone therapy and six patients not receiving hormone therapy. Among patients receiving hormone therapy, one patient had bilateral ureteral obstruction. The success rate of endoscopic intervention was higher in patients who received hormone therapy than in those who did not receive hormone therapy three months after endoscopic intervention (76.9% vs. 0.0%, p=0.003). The same result was also found 6 months after endoscopic intervention (75.0% vs. 0.0%, p=0.005). In addition, the success rates were higher in the hormone-responsive group than in the non-responsive group (100.0% vs. 57.1%), although the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.122). Conclusions: Ureteral obstruction caused by endometriosis can be effectively treated by endoscopic intervention with hormone therapy in select patients.

A new crosslinked, poly(acrylic acid)-based, dehydrating agent was synthesized through solution polymerization. The Taguchi method, a robust experimental design, was adopted to optimize the synthetic conditions based on the moisture and water absorbing capacities of the dehydrating agent. The method applied for the experiment was a standard L27 (38) orthogonal array with eight parameters and three levels. By analyzing the variance of the test results, the most effective parameters to control the moisture absorbing capacity (MAC) and its rate were the kind of alkaline base (LiOH, NaOH, or KOH) used as a neutralizing agent of the acrylic acid monomer and the degree of neutralization: The maximum MAC of 40% was achieved at only 2 h at 32 ℃ and 50% RH when KOH was used as a base and the degree of neutralization was 90%, respectively. However, the water absorbing capacity (WAC) of the resulting dehydrating agent was very low at 158 g/g, indicating that WAC is unaffected by MAC and its rate in this system. The surface morphologies of the agents were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
An Alternative Approach to the Expansion of Paekche during the Hansŏng Period

The expansion of Paekche, one of the ancient states established on the Korean Peninsula, during the Hansŏng Period was one of the major historical archaeological research topics. Many studies were conducted under the premise that the boundaries of Paekche during the Hansŏng Period as recorded in historical documents had existed in real life, and scholars believed that the boundaries and territory of Paekche at the time spatially expanded in concentric rings around the core. These studies were unable to provide an adequate explanation of the diversity or the significance of archaeological resources acquired from the regions surrounding Paekche during the Hansŏng Period, as the expansion of Paekche was understood to have occurred uniformly throughout the surrounding areas. However, it is important to note that, unlike the boundaries of modern states, boundaries of ancient states were flexible and not clearly defined. In addition, it is necessary to take into consideration the possibility that the expansion of ancient states occurred in different ways throughout different regions due to political, geographical, and economic factors as well as their physical distance from the center. This study takes into account these possibilities and compares the regions to the south and north of the Han River by examining the excavated Paekche pottery from the Hansŏng Period in the central region of the Korean Peninsula to better understand Paekche’s expansion process. It also demonstrates that Paekche expanded its influence in the region south of the Han River during the Hansŏng Period while it only maintained several bases in the region north of the Han River, thereby explaining that the expansion of Paekche differed in the two regions due to the differences in the regions’ geopolitical dynamics.

In modern society, unit companies and businesses will respond sensitively to various types of information in real time, and their operating strategies will also be implemented and modified in real time depending on the situation. This paper collects, processes, and analyzes various user information generated by online SNS in real time, generating and providing useful data for various systems. Especially, using data from Twitter, a representative social networking site, to analyze online information related to restaurants and to target restaurant systems. To process into useful data and provide pattern analysis results, this paper observes patterns on online reference quantities, analyzes features and presents utilization methods. 현대사회에서 단위 기업 및 업체는 다양한 형태의 정보에 실시간으로 민감하게 대응하며, 상황에 따른 영업 전략 역시실시간으로 구사하고 수정하게 된다. 본 논문은 온라인 SNS에서 발생하는 다양한 사용자 정보를 실시간으로 수집ㆍ가 공하고분석하여 각종 시스템에 유용한 데이터를 생성하여 제공한다. 특히, 대표적인 SNS인 트위터의 데이터를 이용하여 식당과관련된 온라인 정보를 분석하고 식당 시스템을 대상으로 유용한 데이터로 가공하여 패턴분석 결과를 제공하기 위하여 본논문에서는 온라인 언급량에 대한 패턴을 관찰하고 특징을 분석하고 활용 방법을 제시한다.
Pleomorphic Adenoma of the Palate : A Case Report with Literature Review

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands. About 90% of these tumors occur in the parotid gland and 10% of them occur in the minor salivary glands. The most common sites for pleomorphic adenoma of the minor salivary glands are the palate, followed by the lips and the cheeks. Pleomorphic adenoma of the palate presents clinically as a painless, slow-growing mass found on posterior lateral aspect. In this case report, we report a case of pleomorphic adenoma of the palate in a 36-year old male patient whose initial diagnosis was vascular mass such as hemangioma or lymphangiohemangioma by preoperative CT and MRI.
