In spite of many studies of the acoustic field visualization by using sonoluminescence phenomena, the visualization method has not been used widely because it needs high acoustic intensity to get the luminescence intensity enough to observe. Recently, the digital camera with high resolution and big memory makes it possible to get the digital image data even though the brightness of the image is too weak to observe with naked eyes. In this study we investigated the variation of sonoluminescence intensity with the acoustic intensity from an ultrasonic transducer. From this result, the inverse function, which makes the tendency of the variation to linear, was obtained. Using the order of the inverse function, we can expect a matching function. Applying the matching function to digital image data, the distribution of the histogram could be controlled appropriately and the image from relatively weak acoustic intensity could be enhanced by the method.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy is a syndrome characterized by persistent, burning pain, hyperpathia, allodynia & hyperaesthesia in an extremity, with concurrent evidence of autonomic nervous system dysfunction. It generally develops after nerve injury, trauma, surgery, et al. The most successful therapies are directed towards blocking the sympathetic intervention to the affected extremity by regional sympathetic ganglion block or Bier block with sympathetic blocker; other traditional treatments include transcutaneous electrical stimulation, immobilization with cast & splint, physical therapy, psychotherapy, administration of sympathetic blocker, calcitonin, corticosteroid and analgesic agents. The purpose of this report is to evaluate and describe the effects of magnetic resonance following unsatisfactory results with traditional treatments of RSD. A 17 year old female patient, 1 year earlier, had received excision and drainage of pus at the right femoral triangle due to an injury caused by a stone. Afterwards, she experienced burning pain, knee joint stiffness, and muscle dystrophy of the right thigh, especially when standing and walking. Despite a year of number of traditional treatments such as: lumbar sympathetic block, continuous epidural analgesia, transcutaneous electrical stimulation, & administration of predisolone, her pain did not improve. Surprisingly, the patients was able to walk free from pain and difficulty after just one application of magnetic resonance. The patient has been successfully treated with further treatment of two to three times a week for approximately ten weeks. More recently, magnetic resonance has been demonstrated to produce effective results for the relief of pain in a variety of diseases. From our experiences we recognize magnetic resonance as a therapeutic modality which can provide excellent results for the treatment of RSD. It has been suggested that polysynaptic reflex which are disturbed in RSD may be modulated normally on the spinal cord level through the application of magnetic resonance.

Eosinophilic mcningitis is defined as the presence of 10 or more eosinophils per microliter in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or eosinophilis of at least 10% of the total CSF leukocyte count. Eosinophilic meningitis is a rare disease and the most common cause is the invasion of the central nervous system by helminthic parasites, particularly Angio-strongylus cantonensis. Toxocara canis, a common intestinal parasite of dog, has been also reported to cause eosinophilic meningitis. We report a case of eosinophilic meningitis which was proven to be a human toxocariasis by the serologic test. (Korean J Asthma Allergy Clin Immunol 2005;25:324-327)

To identify the characteristics about the motion of a vehicle, it is often necessary that the inertia properties of the powertrain on the vehicle should be gained, and these values are very important data in the analysis of a vehicle dynamics. But it is not easy that we get the inertia properties of the powertrain for the complexity of the shape. This paper introduces the procedure to obtain the inertia properties using the approach of an experimental modal analysis. The properties of six rigid body modes are obtained by exciting the powertrain fixed in strong steel stands in low frequencies of the band 0 ∼ 40 Hz, and the inertia properties are derived from the values such as frequencies and mode shape vectors about the six rigid body modes. Several mathematical methods based on the theory of modal analysis are used to estimate the inertia properties. It is expected that this type approach will be used in increasing number applications during estimation of inertia properties for vehicle dynamics analysis.
