        Project logistics company selection from EPC shippers’ perspective

        Efficient company selection for project logistics has become a fundamental requirement for sustainable growth and corporate competitiveness in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industries. While research on logistics company selection exists, the literature has mostly analyzed 3PL selection and its services, research approaching project logistics company selection is overlooked. To bridge this divide, this study examines the determinants for EPC companies selecting project logistics companies using the fuzzy Delphi-AHP approach. Findings indicate general service criteria, such as reasonable cost and timely delivery/reliability, are the most important factors.

        무역지수와 FTA가 우리나라의 물동량에 미치는 영향 - 한중 FTA의 영향 추정 -

        Trade between Korea and China began to increase in 1992 after Korea-China diplomatic relations began, and it has been growing rapidly until recently. In this situation, Korea-China FTA is a crisis and opportunity for Korea. Therefore, in this study, it analyzed that the effects of the trade index and tariff elimination by expanding the gravity model as well as the effects of the existing free trade agreement and economic integration based on the HS 85 code, which is the largest portion of Korea 's imports and exports. The results of the study are as follows. First, the variables of the basic gravity model, such as the distance, GDP, and population, are shown that same with the previous researches by gravity model. Second, trade complementarity index is showed no effect of trade creation, while the other export similarity index and export and import price index are showed effects of trade creation. Finally, FTA and economic integration are analyzed that have effects of trade creation.

        권장식사패턴을 활용하여 작성된 식단계획의 영양평가

        The nutritional balance of the menu plans prepared according to the target pattern was examined. Total of 81 home economics teachers throughout the nation and 161 3rd-grade middle-school girls in Chungnam area participated. The data was collected by questionnaire and analyzed by using SPSS WIN 12.0. Although both teacher and student groups had fairly good knowledge on preparing menu plans related concepts, they rarely make use any menu planning currently. More than 85% of menu plans investigated exceeded their energy goal in the target pattern. The energy contribution ratios of carbohydrate: protein: fat were 56.1%: 17.4%: 26.5% in teachers` menu plan and 55.1%: 17.2%: 27.7% in students` menu plan. The NAR of the protein, phosphorous, iron, zinc, vitamin A and C, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, B6 was 1 or near 1. But in case of calcium, 56.5% of the menu plan prepared by the students was less than 1, and in case of folate 75.3% of teachers`, and 85.1% of students` were less than NAR 1. The MAR of the 12 nutrients examined were 0.98, 0.97, and the DVS were 51, 49 for menu plan prepared by teachers and students, respectively. (Korean J Community Nutr 16(3) : 375~385, 2011)

        TOPSIS를 이용한 부산항과 상해항의 터미널 경쟁력에 관한 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 먼저 문헌조사를 통해 항만의 경쟁력에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 분석하고, 둘째, 부산항과 상하이항의 터미널별 경쟁력을 TOPSIS 이론을 바탕으로 분석하여 비교한다. 마지막으로 분석결과를 바탕으로 부산항의 항만경쟁력 제고 방안을 마련한다. 분석결과, 물동량 요인의 경쟁력은 상하이항의 SMCT, SGICT가 부산항의 터미널에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 항만시설 요인과 재무적 요인은 각각 상하이항의 SMCT와 SSICT가 가장 경쟁력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 종합적인 경쟁력은 상하이항(SSICT, SMCT 및 SGICT) 이 부산항 컨테이너 터미널에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 SSICT는 종합적인 경쟁력이 가장 높은 터미널로 이 연구에서 분석되었고, 항만시설 요인과 재무적 요인에서 각각 가장 높은 경쟁력을 보였다. 상하이항의 SMCT는 물동량 요인에서 가장 경쟁력이 있는 터미널로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 환적항 및 국제물류 거점항으로서 국제적인 지위도 낮아지고, 경쟁 국제항만에 비하여 최근의 성장세도 주춤한 상황에 놓여있는 부산항의 정책에 주요 시사점을 준다. This study aims to (1) investigate the main factors for the evaluation of port competitiveness through a literature review; (2) compare each terminal"s competitiveness in Busan and Shanghai ports using TOPSIS methodology; (3) determine how to improve Busan port competitiveness. TOPSIS analysis of throughput shows that the terminals in Shanghai (SMCT, SGICT) are competitive. Shanghai is ranked first in both the port physical analysis (SMCT) and the financial one (SSICT). Total competitiveness analysis shows that Shanghai terminals (SSICT, SMCT, and SGICT) are more competitive than the ones in the Busan port. In this analysis, the SSICT ranks the top terminal in port physical and financial categories, while the SMCT ranks the first terminal in terms of throughput. The results of this study provide important policy implications for the Busan port, whose international status as a transshipment port and international logistics hub has lowered, and whose recent growth is slower than that of the competing international ports.

        부산항과 상하이항 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 경영성과 비교에 관한 연구

        각 항만의 터미널별 물동량을 기반으로 허쉬만-허핀달지수를 통해 부산항과 상하이항의 시장구조 측정을 실시하였고, 시장성과를 분석하기 위해 시장성과를 수익성과 성장성의 두 가지 측면으로 구분하였다. 수익성 측면에서는 각 컨테이너 터미널 운영사들의 가격-비용 마진율(PCM)과 자산수익률(ROA), 성장성 측면에서는 각 터미널의 처리 실적과 물동량 증감률을 통해 각 터미널 운영사의 성과를 측정하였다. 측정된 결과를 바탕으로 시장구조와 터미널 운영사의 성과에 대한 상관관계를 살펴보기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 결과를 상호 비교하였다. 연구결과, 부산항의 시장구조와 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 성장성(처리실적), 상하이항의 시장구조와 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 수익성 (PCM, ROA) 및 성장성(처리실적)과의 관계가 유의적인 관계로 나타났다. Due to the continuous increasement of the container cargoes, each container port market has been growing as well. Moreover, the competition among container terminal operators located in the same port is also growing in order to attract more container cargoes. This paper looked into the market structures, market conducts and market performances of container ports in Busan and Shanghai. The index which has been most widely used to measure market structure, the Hirschman-Herfindahl Index (HHI), is computed by squaring each supplier's market share, then adding the squared shares. This paper estimated the market performance as profitability (PCM, ROA), growth (total TEU, rate of the increasement of TEU) and examined the effects of the HHI on the profitability and growth in a container terminal operators in Korea and China. The major findings of this study is that the market structure has effects on market performance in Busan port (total TEU) and Shanghai port (PCM, ROA and total TEU). As a result of analysing this study, market structure has an effect on market performance in Busan and Shanghai port, but the power of influence can be changed by market concentration index and various market conduct of companies.

        우리나라 물류기업의 말레이시아 물류시장 진출방안

        Since a large number of global logistics firms successfully created global value addition based on high growth rate and lucrative profits, the logistics industry has been seen as a growth engine for the nations. Now, ASEAN is transforming into the world’s factories instead of China based on huge foreign direct investment (FDI), rich natural resources and cheap labor costs. From the perspective of Korean logistics firms, the rise of the ASEAN can be seen as new market opportunities. With the aforementioned importance of the ASEAN market, the purpose of this study is to investigate ways of how Korean logistics companies (especially small and medium sized logistics companies) can effectively penetrate Malaysian logistics markets that have rapid growth rates. Therefore, this study analyzes the important factors to penetrate the Malaysian logistics market from the perspective of Korean logistics companies using the SWOT-AHP approach. The results of this study indicate that excellent logistics infrastructure (S5) is the most important factor when Korean logistics companies penetrate the Malaysian logistics market. Based on the results of the analysis, this paper proposes some strategies and policy suggestions.

        Seaport Network based on Change of Korean Liner Service Pattern

        This paper evaluates ports from the network perspective and analyzes the network of Korean and Chinese ports based on the service pattern of Korean liner shipping companies. It uncovers their structural characteristics and centrality, and explores network centrality through the service pattern of shipping companies and port throughput in 2008 and 2015 using data from nine Korean shipping companies in the Korea–China route by using social network analysis. It reveals the impacts of port network centrality on port competitiveness. The results of analysis firstly indicate that the degree centrality in the throughput flow is changing from the Busan port in Korea to the Shanghai or Qingdao port in China. Second, the export volume of Korea is decreasing, whereas the trade volume of China is increasing. Third, as for the major ports in Korea and China, China may be in a favorable position compared to Korea owing to the increase in the number of service routes, fleets, and service liner shipping companies. Hence, the centrality of the Chinese port has been increasing because the liners intentionally design their service routes with focus on Shanghai port. By referring to the study’s findings, port policymakers may better understand the dynamic Korea–China route port network changes to prepare the future port strategies.

        포스트 코로나 시대 지역거점항인 포항영일만항과 배후단지활성화 방안에 관한 연구

        This study aims at investigating measures to vitalize the Pohang Yeongil New Port and its hinterlandin the context of the post Covid-19 pandemic. To identify appropriate strategies, an SWOTanalysis combined with fuzzy-AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) was applied for strategical priority. Among the SWOT factors, weaknesses and threats were found to be critical. At a more detailedlevel, the strategic priorities were given to insufficient infrastructure (W), neighboring ports (T), insufficientshipping network (W), low service level (W) and South-North Korea relationships (T). Given these results, several strategies to overcome core weaknesses and threats of the PohangYeongil Port were suggested. The results of this study may provide valuable insights for port policymakers. 본 연구는 코로나19 이후의 상황에서 포항 영일만항 및 배후지역 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 적절한 전략을 찾기 위해 SWOT 분석과 결합된 Fuzzy-AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) 분석을 전략적 우선순위 도출을 위해 적용하였다. SWOT 요인 중 약점 점과 위협 요인이 포항 영일만항및 배후지역의 활성화에 미치는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 보다 세부적으로는 인프라 부족(W), 인접항만(T), 해상 네트워크 부족(W), 낮은 서비스 수준(W), 남북관계(T) 순으로 전략적 우선순위가 도출되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 포항 영일만항의 핵심 취약점과 위협을 극복하기 위한 몇 가지 전략이제시되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 항만을 계획하는 국가에게 포항 영일만항이 처한 외부환경 및 산업요인의 중요도를 제시함으로써 보다 세련된 항만정책을 계획할 수 있는 단초를 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 공급이 수요를 창출할 것이란 사고에서 벗어나서 항만이 차별화를 통해 경쟁적 우위를 가질수 있는 환경을 만들어 나갈 필요성을 강조한다.

        The determinants of food aid humanitarian transportation by employing DEMATEL approach

        This study aims to impact of procurement on the transportation of food supply in humanitarian missions. Improvements in food aid transportation resulting from a specific procurement decision are also investigated. In this context, the approaches of local and global procurement, and the use of pre-positioned stock are analyzed in relation to the four criteria: transportation time, transportation costs, transportation capacity, and food loss and waste. The results revealed that transportation time is the most important component in the transportation of food aid in all situations. It belongs to the cause group, which has a significant impact on the effect group's requirements. Furthermore, transit time is inextricably linked to transportation costs and has a continuous impact on food loss and wastage. Apart from that, transportation costs record a high degree of overall influence throughout the whole analysis. Food loss and wastage is mostly rated as effect criterion, having the lowest overall influence. The results of this paper might help humanitarian decision-makers to implement efficient food assistance when urgent humanitarian operations needed.
