      • Bio-inspired configurable multiscale extracellular matrix-like structures for functional alignment and guided orientation of cells

        Inspired by the hierarchically organized protein fibers in extracellular matrix (ECM) as well as the physiological importance of multiscale topography, we developed a simple method for the design and manipulation of precisely controllable multiscale hierarchical structures. In this study, we approached a conceptual platform that can mimic the hierarchically multi-scale topographical and orientation cues of the ECM for controlling cell structure and function. Using our platforms, the structures and orientations of fibroblast cells were greatly influenced by the nanotopography, rather than the micro-topography. We also proposed a new approach that enables the generation of native ECM having nanofibers in specific three-dimensional configurations by culturing fibroblast cells on the multi-scale substrata. We suggest that our methodology could be used as efficient strategies for the design and manipulation of various functional platforms for advanced regenerative medicine applications.

        다중 커널을 이용한 파킨슨 환자로부터 보행 동결 진행까지의 페널티 콕스 회귀 분석

        Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate complex non-linear associations of multiple genetic and brain imaging factors and the interac- tions of the two factors with the risk of gait freezing for patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Methods: We employed a penalized kernel machine Cox proportional hazard regression model. Multiple kernels were created to account for multiple genetic factors and their interactions with brain imaging factors, and we identified significant elements using the group lasso penalty. We applied the proposed method to Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initia- tive (PPMI) data. Results: We identified LRRK2 genes and the volume of six regions of interest in brain interacting with COMT, GBA, LRRK2, and SNCA genes that are associated with the occurrence of freezing of gait for PD patients. Conclusions: It was found that there is evidence of gene-brain interac- tions in freezing of gait. The proposed penalized Cox model using the kernel machine method enables us to identify the nonlinear relationship between genetic and neuroimaging factors and the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases. .

      • 단청 문양을 활용한 아트 메이크업 작품 제작

        The aim of this study is to add visual value to dancheong after analyzing its images and colors and applying them to art makeup to show that this colorful Korean-style decorative pattern is useful in art makeup. The results found that dancheong provides a motif for new art makeup styling, and that it is applicable to diverse makeup styles. However, it is hard to represent exact traditional colors because colors are matched by using a brush. Furthermore, it is difficult to vividly express the realism of dancheong along the line of the 3-dimensional curve of a human body. As makeup emerges as a genre of formative art, it is a time to explore a new design realm. Under these circumstances, dancheong-based art makeup can be a valuable inspiration and stimulate attempts at diverse styles. In order for dancheong to move more deeply and fully into art makeup, it would be necessary to accept the positive aspects and correct and improve the less usable areas.

        인장력 센서를 이용한 슬링 교각운동이 정상인의 체간 신전근과 고관절 신전근의 좌우 대칭에 미치는 영향

        The aim of this study was to investigate whether bridging exercise with visual feedback effects symmetric weight load and electromyographic (EMG) activity on the trunk and hip muscles between the dominant and non-dominant side. Forty-one healthy subjects volunteered for this study. Tensile force of left and right on the lower extremity and EMG activity of the erector spinae (ES), multifidus (MF), gluteus maximus (GM), and hamstring (H) muscles in the both side was recorded during the bridging exercise under the following 2 experimental conditions: non-visual feedback and with visual feedback. There were significantly decreased difference values of EMG activity on the ES, MF, GM and H muscles and difference tensile force value of between the both sides during bridging exercise with visual feedback than without visual feedback. And the MF/ES activity ratio was significantly increased during bridging exercise with visual feedback than without visual feedback. These findings suggest that the bridging exercise with visual feedback could be effective in facilitation of symmetric weight load and muscle activity on the trunk and hip,

        추정 사구체여과율의 해석

        Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) plays an important role in the clinical evaluation of renal function, classification, prognosis prediction, and drug dosing in patients with acute or chronic kidney disease . Estimated GFR (eGFR) is calculated based on endogenous filtration markers, such as creatinine and cystatin C. These are useful markers, but it is necessary to understand the clinical settings in which eGFR, calculated using creatinine or cystatin C, may be less accurate. Several equations, including the Cockcroft and Gault, modification of diet in renal disease, and chronic kidney disease-epidemiology collaboration (CKD-EPI) equations, are used to calculate eGFR. The latter is most common because it has high accuracy and can predict prognosis. Recently, a new race-omitting CKD-EPI equation has been developed but further studies are required to determine whether it can be applied in clinical practice and research. Furthermore, careful use of eGFR is needed in acute kidney injury, kidney transplantation, and dialysis patients. Drug dosing must be guided by accurate GFR assessment. In addition to medical care, GFR assessment is also important for public health and research. Therefore, further studies are needed to reevaluate and develop the equations for accurate eGFR calculations.

        국내 분리 칸디다균주에 대한 VITEK-2 항진균제 감수성 검사(AST-YS01)의 평가

        Background: VITEK-2 yeast susceptibility test (ASTYS01; bioMerieux, Hazelwood, MO, USA) has recently been introduced as a fully automated commercial antifungal susceptibility test system that determines MIC (minimum inhibitory concentrations) endpoints spectrophotometrically, thereby eliminating subjective errors. We compared the VITEK-2 system with the CLSI (the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) M27 method for susceptibility testing of Candida isolates from Korea. Methods: A total of 175 Candida bloodstream isolates were collected from two hospitals during a 18-month period. We compared the MIC results for amphotericin B, fluconazole and voriconazole obtained with the VITEK-2 system to those obtained by the CLSI M27 broth microdilution method after 24-hr and 48-hr incubation. Results: VITEK-2 system MIC endpoints for 175 isolates were determined after 11.75 to 35.50 hr of incubation (mean, 16.3±4.8 hr). The essential agreement (within 2 dilutions) between amphotericin B, fluconazole and voriconazole MICs obtained by the VITEK-2 system and CLSI method was 98.3%, 90.9% and 96.0%, respectively, at 24-hr incubation and 100%, 92.6% and 94.9%, at 48-hr incubation. The categorical discrepancy for fluconazole was 6.3% (major error, 2.9% and minor error, 3.4%) at 24-hr and 6.3% (major error, 2.3% and minor error, 4.0%) at 48-hr. The categorical discrepancy for voriconazole was 1.7% (major error, 1.1% and minor error, 0.6%) at both 24-hr and 48-hr. There were no very major errors for fluconazole and voriconazole. Conclusion: The VITEK-2 antifungal susceptibility test system appears to be rapid and highly correlative with the CLSI method, sugesting that this system can be effective for antifungal susceptibility testing for Candida species in the clinical laboratory.

        기상 애플리케이션 사용성 향상을 위한 감성 경험 기반 UI 디자인 연구

        As smartphones evolve, people process a majority of the daily required information through smartphones. As online markets become more active, the online applications (apps) present emotional elements that arouse user interest as well as the element of efficiency. The aim of this research is to analyze weather applications according to elements of user interface based on emotional experience as a way to improve the usability of weather applications, and to present directions that can improve the service satisfaction of emotional applications in term of design. Firstly, the study analyzes the concepts and theories of emotional experience, UI design and emotional experience-based UI. The emotional experience-based UI elements includes sensory, structural and conceptual elements. In detail, the sensory elements include color, graphics and multiple senses. Structural elements include interaction and storytelling. And conceptual elements include interests and feedback. Based on the derived elements, the study selects and analyzes five cases that are deemed as suitable examples of emotional experience from the top 100 best-selling weather apps on App Store and Google Play’s weather apps. All cases have the ‘color’ and ‘graphic’ sensory elements in common. The ‘multiple senses’ element was shown in only one app. The structural elements were applied not as often as sensory and conceptual elements. The ‘interests’ and ‘feedback’ conceptual elements were shown in three cases. The study confirms that the emotional experience-based UI elements are based mostly on visual elements. The study also suggests the need for further study on weather apps in other technical fields to effectively offer weather information with increased user interest and emotional experience. 스마트폰이 발전함에 따라 현대인들은 일상생활에 필요한 정보의 많은 비중을 스마트폰을 통해 해결하고 있으며, 온라인 시장이 활성화되면서 애플리케이션은 편안한 기능뿐만 아니라 흥미를 유발하는 감성적인 요소로사용자에게 다양한 경험을 주고 있다. 본 연구는 기상 애플리케이션의 사용성을 향상시키기 위한 방안으로서 감성 경험을 기반으로 한 사용자 인터페이스의 요소에 따라 기상 애플리케이션을 분석하고자하며, 이를 통해 디자인 측면에서 감성 애플리케이션의 서비스 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방향을 제시하는 것이 목적이다. 1차적으로 감성 경험, UI 디자인, 감성 경험 기반 UI의 각 개념과이론을 고찰하였으며, 선행연구를 통해 감성 경험 요소와, UI 디자인 요소에 관련된 내용을 살펴보고 감성 경험기발 UI 요소를 도출하였다. 감성 경험 기반 UI 요소로는감각적 요소, 구조적 요소, 사고적 요소가 있으며, 세부적으로 감각적 요소에는 색상과 그래픽, 다중감각이 있으며, 구조적 요소에는 인터랙션과 스토리텔링, 사고적 요소에는 흥미유발, 피드백의 요소가 나타났다. 도출된 요소를 통해 앱 스토어, 구글 플레이의 기상 애플리케이션카테고리를 중심으로 최고매출 포함 차트 100에서 감성경험의 특징을 포함한 사례로 적합하다고 판단된 총 5개의 사례를 선별하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 모든 사례에서 공통적으로 나타난 요소는 감각적 요소의 세부요소인‘색상’, ‘그래픽’ 이였으며, ‘다중감각’은 한 가지 애플리케이션에만 적용된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 구조적 요소는감각적 요소와 사고적 요소에 비해 미비하게 적용되어있음을 확인하였으며, 사고적 요소의 ‘흥미유발’과 ‘피드백’은 각 3가지 사례에서 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 기상 애플리케이션의 감성 경험 기반 UI 요소는 현재시각적 요인을 중심으로 이루어져 있음을 인지할 수 있으며, 사용자의 흥미유발과 감성 경험을 위해 기상정보를 효과적으로 제공할 수 있는 다양한 기술 분야의 기상애플리케이션 연구의 필요성을 재고할 수 있다.

      • Rules for Scoring Respiratory Events in Sleep (2012 개정판)

        배경(Background) : 수면무호흡 또는 저호흡이 뇌혈관 질환, 심혈관 질환, 고혈압, 당뇨 등에 대한 위험성이 있다는 것은 이미 알려진 사실이다. 2012년 이전의 Respiration Rule은 대표적으로 Chicago Rule과 2007년 AASM Guide line에 의한 Rule이 있는데, 수면무호흡과 저호흡이 앞서 언급한 질환들의 위험성에 대하여 졸 더 유의한 지표로 활용될 수 있도록 많은 연구결과와 수면 전문가들에 의한 합의를 통해 좀더 명확하고 간결한 Rule로 개정되었다. 방법(Methods): 권고되는 측정장치는 oronasal thermal sensor. nasal air pressure transducer. pulse oximetry. Thoracoabdominal Belt. PAP device Flow 이다. 결과(Results) : Apnea Rule 은 다음 두 가지를 동시에 만족해야 한다; (1) There is a drop in the peak thermal sensor excursion by ≥90% of baseline. (2) The duration of the event lasts at least 10 seconds. 그리고 Hypopnea Rule은 다음 세 가지를 동시에 만족해야 한다; (1) The peak signal excursions drop by ≥30% of pre-event baseline using nasal pressure. (2) The duration of the ≥ 30% drop in signal excursion is ≥ 10 seconds. (3)There is a ≥ 3% oxygen desaturation from pre event baseline or the event Is associated with an arousal. 고찰(Discussion): 수면다원검사는 전 세계적으로 미국의 AASM Guide Line을 따르고 있다. 우리나라의 수면다윈검사실도 2012년에 개정된 Scoring Rule 을 알고 이해하는 것에 대한 필요성이 있겠다.
