        워크플로우 모델링을 통한 IaaS 클라우드 플랫폼 구축 최적화

        IaaS(Infrastructure as a Service) 클라우드 시스템인 OpenStack은 복수개의 소프트웨어 구성요소로 이뤄지며 각 소프트웨어 컴포넌트들의 구축에 따른 시간적 오버헤드가 크고 약 100여 가지의 구축 명령어를 통해 구축되므로, 시스템을 구축함에 상당한 비효율성이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 OpenStack 기반 클라우드 시스템 구축 절차를 워크플로우 관점으로 프로파일링 하여, 구축자 관점의 OpenStack 설치 워크플로우 도면 및 워크플로우 기반 의존성 판별 알고리즘을 통해 최적화된 OpenStack 기반 클라우드 플랫폼 설치 Script를 도출하기 위한 구축 프레임웍을 제 안하였다. 기존 OpenStack 공식문서에서 제시된 방법과 달리, 각 소프트웨어 컴포넌트별 의존성과 연관성을 워크플 로우 관점으로 프로파일링하여 개선된 OpenStack 설치 Script는 최대 약 23%까지 구축속도 향상을 보인다. IaaS(Infrastructure as a Service) cloud system such as OpenStack consist of several software components. Constructing the OpenStack apts to be a time-consuming task because the OpenStack construction requires about one hundred command for downloading, deploying, and configuring each software component. The task leads to user-obstructive latency. As a remedy to these problems, we propose an optimized script for constructing OpenStack-based cloud system by workflow-based dependency detection algorithm. The experimental results of our scheme show that the total elapsed time to complete the OpenStack deployment is up to 23% more time-efficient in comparison with the OpenStack construction procedure.

        A Prototype Virtual Network Embedding System using OpenStack

        Network virtualization enables us to make efficient use of resources in a physical network by embedding multiple virtual networks in the physical network. In this paper, we develop a prototype of a virtual network embedding system. Our system consists of OpenStack, which is an open source cloud service platform, and shell scripts. Because OpenStack does not provide a quality of service control function, we realize bandwidth reservation for virtual links by making use of the ingress policing function of Open vSwitch, which is a virtual switch used in OpenStack. The shell scripts in our system automatically construct the required virtual network on the physical network using the OpenStack command-line interface, and they reserve bandwidth for virtual links using the Open vSwitch command. Experimental evaluation confirms that our system constructs the requested virtual network and appropriately allocates node and link resources to it.

        오픈스택 기반 클라우드 시스템의 구축 검증 도구

        OpenStack과 같이 오픈 소스 기반의 클라우드 컴퓨팅 관리 플랫폼 (Cloud Management Platform) 의 빠른 구현으로 인하여, 오픈 소스를 이용한 개인 및 기관의 클라우드 구축 시도가 지속적으로 증가되는 추세이다. 이러한 클라우드 운영자들에게, 구축한 클라우드 컴퓨팅 시스템의 동작 검증은 필수적이다. 본 논문은 클라우드 시스템 구축 검증하기 위한 오픈 소스 기반의 클라우드 테스트 도구를 디자인하며 구현한다. 특히, 제안된 테스트 도구는 오픈 소스 소프트웨어 프로젝트인 Tempest를 활용하며, Tempest의 테스트 케이스를 통해서 OpenStack기반의 클라우드를 검증한다. 제안된 소프트웨어는 국내에서 처음으로 개발되는 클라우드 시스템 구축 테스트 도구의 프로토타입이며, 앞으로 클라우드 기술 개발 및 사용자 확대에 기여할 것으로 예상된다. Due to the rapid development of open source based Cloud management platforms such as OpenStack, many and various individuals and institutions are trying to construct Cloud computing systems based on open source software projects. It is essential, for those who install, administrate or operate a Cloud, to validate the integrity of the constructed Cloud system. This paper, therefore, proposes the design of a testing tool for validating the integrity of a constructed OpenStack-based Cloud system. Especially, the proposed testing tool utilizes the Tempest project which is an open source project that consists of OpenStack test cases. The proposed testing tool is expected to help developing Cloud technology and Cloud users.

        A Novel Framework for Resource Orchestration in OpenStack Cloud Platform

        This work is mainly focused on two major topics in cloud platforms by using OpenStack as a case study: management and provisioning of resources to meet the requirements of a service demanded by remote end-user and relocation of virtual machines (VMs) requests to offload the encumbered compute nodes. The general framework architecture contains two subsystems: 1) An orchestrator that allows to systematize provisioning and resource management in OpenStack, and 2) A resource utilization based subsystem for vibrant VM relocation in OpenStack. The suggested orchestrator provisions and manages resources by: 1) manipulating application program interfaces (APIs) delivered by the cloud supplier in order to allocate/control/manage storage and compute resources; 2) interrelating with software-defined networking (SDN) controller to acquire the details of the accessible resources, and training the variations/rules to manage the network based on the requirements of cloud service. For resource provisioning, an algorithm is suggested, which provisions resources on the basis of unused resources in a pool of VMs. A sub-system is suggested for VM relocation in a cloud computing platform. The framework decides the proposed overload recognition, VM allocation algorithms for VM relocation in clouds and VM selection.

      • Openstack 기반 LBaaS 구현 및 분석

        Recently, the implementations of private and public cloud service (IaaS: Infrastructure as a Service) have been growing rapidly. As a result, the need to provide High-Availability and Load-Balancing for the users has also increased. Openstack which is one of cloud computing solutions currently offers a feature to meet the need through an extension called Load Balancing as a Service (LBaaS). This paper will provide a detailed explanation about Openstack’s LBaaS and its operation principle will be analyzed through the actual implementation.

        오픈소스 클라우드 플랫폼 OpenStack 기반 위성영상분석처리 서비스 시험구현

        The applications and concerned technologies of cloud computing services, one of major trends in the information communication technology, are widely progressing and advancing. OpenStack, one of open source cloud computing platforms, is comprised of several service components; using these, it can be possible to build public or private cloud computing service for a given target application. In this study, a remote sensing image analysis processing service on cloud computing environment has designed and implemented as an operational test application in the private cloud computing environment based on OpenStack. The implemented service is divided into instance server, web service, and mobile app. A instance server provides remote sensing image processing and database functions, and the web service works for storage and management of remote sensing image from user sides. The mobile app provides functions for remote sensing images visualization and some requests.

      • Autonomous Migration of Virtual Machine Based on OpenStack

        For the problem of compute nodes load unbalance leads to the overload node impact VM performance and the underload node waste electrical energy. Dynamic VM consolidation is an efficient approach for improving the utilization of servers and reducing energy costs. In this paper, we introduce dynamic consolidation into OpenStack and implement AMVM based on OpenStack. AMVM collect and analyze all performance data of VM and compute node in OpenStack. Then AMVM automatically schedules VM live migrate to the most appropriate node according to the real-time load of all compute nodes. Then we use hybrid-copy instead of pre-copy in AMVM to improve the efficiency of VM live migration. Finally, we analyze the performance of hybrid-copy, hybrid-copy can reduce page faults compared with post-copy and reduce total data transferred compared with pre-copy.

        OpenStack Swift 객체 스토리지를 위한 하이브리드 메모리 어댑터 설계

        This paper is to propose a hybrid memory adaptor using next-generation nonvolatile memory devices such as phase-change memory to improve the performance limitations of OpenStack-based object storage systems. The proposed system aims to improve the performance of the account and container servers for object metadata management. For this, the proposed system consists of locality-based dynamic page buffer, write buffer, and nonvolatile memory modules. Experimental results show that the proposed system improves the hit rate by 5.5% compared to the conventional system.

        오픈스택 환경에서의 서비스 메시 기반 통합적 모니터링 시스템

        Recently, as companies have adopted more and more microservice architectures, they are operating microservices by building an OpenStack-based cloud environment and installing Kubernetes, the standard for container orchestration tools. In order to facilitate communication between microservices, a Service Mesh is used and a monitoring system is built based on this. However, current Service Mesh based monitoring systems only provide information about microservices, so system administrators cannot obtain system-wide information. In this paper, we present an integrated monitoring system that collects and visualizes a variety of metrics related to OpenStack based cloud environment, allowing system administrators to see not just information about microservices, but overall system information when system issues arise. This allows the system administrator to monitor the system with extensive information.
