뮤직 비디오 속의 마이클 잭슨 패션 연구

이 연구는 마이클 잭슨의 대표적인 앨범 Thriller(1982), Bad(1987), Dangerous(1991), History: Past, Present and Future-Book 1(1995)의 대표 뮤직 비디오 24개 작품 속에 나타난 패션 스타일을 분석하였다. 마이클 잭슨의 패션 스타일은 글램록(Glam rock), 미니멀(Minimal), 내추럴(Natural), 레트로(Ratro)의 4 가지 스타일로 나타났다. 글램록 스타일은 광택나는 레드 점퍼, 블랙 레더 재킷, 와이드 벨트나 벨트 장식으로 구성되었으며 몸에 밀착되거나 헐렁한 핏으로 구성되었다. 주로 강한 남성상을 보여주는 주제의 작품과 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 미니멀 스타일은 베이직한 수트, 다양한 컬러의 셔츠와 팬츠, 보 타이나 슬림 타이의 장식, 블랙 앤 화이트 컬러가 특징적으로 나타났으며, Dangerous(1991)앨범에서 지배적으로 나타나는 스타일이었다. 이러한 미니멀한 스타일의 패션은 마이클 잭슨의 음악 장르의 확장과 무관하지 않으며 중성적인 이미지의 부드러운 섹시함을 강조한 새로운 개념의 남성상을 보여주고 있다는 점에 큰 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 내추럴 스타일은 루즈 핏이거나 트로피컬 프린트가 있는 셔츠, 비비드 톤의 티셔츠와 진, 시스루나 이너웨어 패션, 그런지 풍의 롱 셔츠, 터널 증후군 환자용 화이트 장갑 등으로 구성되어 있으며 사회 비판적인 내용의 작품의 경우는 내추럴 스타일로 구성되어 있는 경우가 많았다. 레트로 스타일은 주로 1960년대의 스페이스 룩, 이집트의 황실의상, 라텍스 소재의 바디컨셔스 스타일, 20세기 초기의 밀리터리룩 등으로 구성되어 있으며 주로 다양한 시대와 장르의 의상을 재해석하는 특징을 보였으며, 나머지 세 가지 스타일과 달리 각각의 작품이 연관성 없이 독특하게 연출되어 있는 특징이 있었다. This study aimed to analyze the clothing style in Michael Jackson's music videos from four of his major albums, Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and History: Past, Present and Future-Book 1 (1995). This study analyzed clothing style by capturing images from the music videos of 24 songs. Michael Jackson's style was divided into four categories; glam rock, minimal, natural and retro. First, the glam rock style was composed of a patent red jumper, black leather jacket, belt, belt trimmings, and close-fitted or loose fitted fashion. This style correlates with a strong male figure represented in the music videos. Second, the minimal style was composed of a basic suit, simple pants with a minimal shirt in multi-colors, a bow tie or slim tie, and black and white colors, and this style was the predominant style in the album, Dangerous. This style was an extension of the music genre of Michael Jackson, and in particular a new male pop star image, emphasizing neutral, soft, sexy manliness reflected through fashion. Third, the natural style was composed of a loose fitted or tropical print shirt, a vivid tone t-shirt and jeans, see-through and inner wear fashion, grungy style long shirts, and an arm brace that is used to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. This style became an important tool for representing his own critical ideology against American society. Forth, the retro style was composed of the space look of the 60s, an Egyptian historical empire costume, a body-conscious style using latex, and an early 20th century military look. Michael Jackson’s retro style represented various times and genres, contrary to the other three styles.

Music superstar Michael Jackson spent roughly 40 years in the public eye, and was the subject of enormous commentary as he shaped the pop culture landscape. Even in this media-saturated, celebrity-driven environment, Jackson occupied a special place in the public consciousness. Upon his June 25, 2009 death, at the age of 50, much was written about his musical legacy, personal eccentricities, legal difficulties, larger-than-life persona, and the wall-to-wall coverage of his death by the mainstream media. The authors used Q methodology to reveal the structure of these views. A Q-sample was drawn from the commentary, and was presented to students at Kent State University, Syracuse University, and Westminster College in the weeks and months after Jackson``s death. The data sets were analyzed separately, and a second-order factor analysis was run in order to compare factors. This study, with the use of Q methodology to study attitudes toward a public figure, is in the tradition of the Thomas & Baas studies of various politicians (Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, etc.) in the "public mind." This current study also adds to the growing interest in the academic examination of popular culture, as well as a number of recent applications of Q methodology to the study of popular culture. The aim of this research is to reveal the structure of the subjectivity associated with the complicated views surrounding this man who helped to define celebrity in the last generation. 음악의 수퍼스타 마이클 잭슨은 공인으로서 거의 40년을 보냈으며, 그가 대중문화에 큰 획을 그은 만큼 수많은 논란의 주체였다. 미디어 포화 속에 유명인들이 많이 존재하는 세상에서 살고 있음에도 불구하고 마이클 잭슨은 사람들에게 특별한 존재였다. 2009년 6월 25일, 그의 나이 50세로 사망했을 때, 수많은 그의 음악적 전설과 개인적인 특이사항, 법적 분쟁, 과장된 모습에 대한 많은 글들과 함께 그의 죽음에 대한 기사가 미디어의 주요 매체들에 도배되었다. 저자는 이러한 세태의 근간을 밝히고자 Q 방법론을 이용하였다. Q 방법론을 적용하여 공인에 대한 사람들의 태도 연구를 진행한 본 연구는 버락 오바마, 힐러리 클린턴, 빌 클린턴, 로널드 레이건, 조지 부시 등 다양한 정치인에 대한 사람들의 마음을 연구한 토머스와 바쓰 연구의 전형을 보여준다. 본 연구의 목표는 지난 세기 ``유명인``을 정의할 수 있도록 해준 이 사람을 둘러싼 복잡한 시각들과 관련한 주관성의 체계를 밝히는 것이다.

한국 대중가요 노랫말의 특성에 관한 담론

국민 소득의 증대와 아울러 엔터테인먼트 산업 또한 활발하게 진행되면서 아이돌 스타라고 불리는 가수들이 한국 대중가요의 주류를 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 한국 대중가요 노랫말의 특징을 분석하여 발전적인 방안에 관하여 모색하고자 한다. 우리나라 대중가요는 90%이상이 남녀간의 애정 문제를 주요 소재로 다루고 있으며, 50%이상의 노래들이 영어 단어나 문장을 포함하고 있음은 물론, 영어 명칭을 사용하는 가수나 그룹들이 과반수에 육박한다. 세계적으로 성공한 가수인 마이클잭슨의 음악들을 한국 대중가요와 비교, 분석한 결과, 사랑 타령이 아닌 다양한 주제의 노래들도 얼마든지 대중의 인기를 얻고 성공할 수 있다는 사례는 우리에게 시사하는 점이 크다. Because the national income has increased, the scale of entertainment business is also enlarging. The singers called the Idol star are the main stream of Korean Pop songs. In the thesis, the characteristics of Korean pop songs will be analyzed and the percussion concerning the future direction will be performed. Over 90% of Korean pop songs are organized with love theme, and over 50% of songs contain English words or sentences. Also, English named singers and groups are about 50%. The paper compared the Korean pop songs with songs of Michael Jackson. successful and popular singer in the world. From the case study of Michael Jackson, Korean pop songs can get success and be popular with using various kinds of topics, not only love themes.

마이클 잭슨의 미성 보컬 표현 기법 연구

대중음악은 개성있는 뮤지션들에 의해서 여러 스타일의 곡이 만들어지는 현재까지 계속 변화 하고 발전하고 있다. 그에 따라 색다른 음색의 보컬리스트들이 출현하였는데 대체로 장르마다 대표적인 음색이 연상되어 진다. 마이클 잭슨은 그의 독창적인 보컬 기법을 사용함으로써 하드 록, 펑크, 디스코와 같이 보통 미성인 보컬이 주로 시도하지 않았던 여러 장르를 혼합해서 그만 의 독특한 음악 발표를 통해 확장된 미성의 보컬 표현법을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 마이클 잭슨 의 보컬 분석을 통해 그의 특징적인 보컬 기법을 찾고 이를 각각의 특징별로 나누어 분석한다. 그리하여 미성 보컬이 실제 연주에서 구체적으로 어떻게 사용하고 응용할 수 있는지의 방법과 그 사용 효과를 알아보았다. The popular music in which various styles of musics are created by Individual artists has been continues to change and develop until now. Accordingly, vocalists with Unconventional voices have emerged and representative tones are often associated with each genre.By using his original vocal technique, Michael Jackson presented a vocal solo presentation by his unique vocal presentation by combining various genres such as hardrock and Punk, and Disco which with sweet voice usually did not attempt to do so. It was analyzed after dividing them according to their features and they were subdivided into detailed types by arranging effects according to the specific genre and position where the features are expressed. The result shows how to use these vocal techniques and how to apply them in detail in actual performance.
