        살롱의 문화적 기능과 공간 변화

        Being a follow-up research of salons’ temporal changes, this research aims to conduct the first exploratory study on how salons’ cultural functions and spatial organization have changed and interpreted from the historical viewpoint. Since the industrial revolution, each person’s level of economic and social experience has improved and use of space for intellectual information sharing has increased, resulting in different analyses on salons. In fact, the investigation by Google Trends on search of salons from 2004 to today shows that interest in the term of ‘salons’ has gradually increased. Therefore, the contemporary studies on salons have emerged due to such effect; salon space needs to be understood and analyzed, since the value of use in actual and virtual space is growing due to the increase in fatigue in the digital era and sharing and communications of common interests. As for the research scope, cultural hermeneutics was used for investigating and analyzing the space and cultural functions of salons from the Renaissance age when they first appeared to the present age. The research methods are as follows: First, understanding the cultural functions and categorizing the development scope of salons to interpret salon space. Second, analyzing the cultural functions presented based on literature data on the previous cultural space of salons and analyzing the resultant types. Third, identifying the temporal changes of space organization according to salons’ cultural functions. As a result, it was revealed that the temporal changes according to the cultural functions in the early stage developed in salons of private cultural space, salons of consumption cultural space, and salons of artistic cultural space. As time passes, salons that used to be definite private space in the early stage were separated as external space with purposes after the 18th century, and now they have changed to space with a synonymous concept that varies complex cultural contents of public areas. As such, being stage 2 research among the 3 stages of research on the temporal changes of salons, the cultural functions and spatial changes of salons, and the types and content of salon cultural space, this research has the purpose of suggesting the direction for studies for analyzing content of salon cultural space. 본 연구는 살롱의 시대적 변천 연구의 후속연구로서 살롱의 문화적 기능과 공간적 구성이 역사적인 관점에서어떻게 변화되고, 해석되었는지에 관한 1차적 탐색연구이다. 살롱은 산업혁명 이후 개인의 경제적, 사회적 경험수준과 지적 정보 공유의 공간에 대한 사용이 높아지면서 현재까지 다양하게 해석되고 있다. 실제로 구글 트렌드에서 2004년부터 현재까지의 살롱검색에 대한 조사결과 ‘salon’ 용어의 관심도가 꾸준히 증가하고 있음을알 수 있다. 이러한 영항으로 나타난 현시대 살롱 연구는 디지털 시대의 피로증과 공통의 관심사에 대한 공유와소통 증가로 실제 공간과 가상공간에서의 이용 가치가 꾸준히 높아지고 있기 때문에 살롱 공간에 대한 이해와연구가 필요하다. 연구의 범위는 살롱이 처음 나타난 르네상스 시기부터 현 시대까지의 살롱공간과 문화적 기능을 문화 해석학의 방법을 이용하여 조사 분석하였다. 연구 방법은 첫째 살롱 공간의 해석을 위해 문화적 기능에대한 이해와 살롱 공간의 발전 범주를 분류한다. 둘째, 살롱의 과거 문화적 공간들의 문헌 자료를 바탕으로 표현되는 문화적 기능과 그에 따른 유형을 분석하여 셋째, 살롱 문화적 기능에 따른 공간구성의 시대적 변화를 파악한다. 연구 결과로 살롱 초기 문화적 기능에 따른 시대적 변천은 일상문화공간의 살롱, 소비문화공간의 살롱, 예술문화공간의 살롱으로 전개되는 것을 확인하였다. 살롱은 시간이 지남에 따라 초기 명확한 사적 공간에서18세기 이후 목적을 가진 외부 공간으로 분리되고 현재는 공공영역의 복합 문화 콘텐츠에 따라 변화되는 유의어 개념을 가진 공간의 형태로 변화 되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 살롱의 시대적 변천 연구, 살롱의 문화적 기능과공간 변화, 살롱문화공간의 유형과 콘텐츠에 대한 3단계의 연구 중 2단계 연구로 앞으로 연구하게 될 살롱문화공간의 콘텐츠의 분석을 위한 연구에 방향성을 제시하고자 한다.

        스페이스 브랜딩의 도시 공공문화공간에 대한 연구

        (Background and Purpose) Public spaces are an element that comprise urban forms and are the most basic way to form urban culture, including both public and private spaces. With rapid social change, the importance of public spaces in which people can enjoy a cultural life is also increasing. However, public spaces that have achieved quantitative growth gradually lose their function and meaning and fail to attract user interest, showing insufficient performance in terms of activation. To revitalize public spaces and improve the lives of city residents, a modern value-oriented approach is needed. The purpose of this study was to focus on the use of space branding and the intersection of space branding and public spaces as a tool to increase the value and utility of public spaces, because they have only been developed in terms of physical elements. (Method) This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of public cultural spaces through the branding of urban public cultural spaces. The spatial scope was limited to cultural spaces with the highest utilization of space branding. First, through theoretical considerations, we identified the meanings of space branding, public spaces, and public cultural spaces. Second, we reconstructed the elements from the extracted keywords. Third, we selected domestic cases of space branding in urban public spaces and formed the evaluation items and contents. Fourth, we performed the evaluation and analysis of all case studies. (Results) As a result of conducting case studies, "Seoul Art-Checkbogo,” an art book-based public cultural space in Korea, was found to have the highest comfortableness, informativeness, and publicity, but it was insufficient in terms of general design. The "Oil Tank Cultural Park" was recreated as a cultural and artistic space on the site of an old oil tank, and showed high accessibility, informativeness, placeness, and publicity, but as it is an old building, its comfortableness and visuality were low. “Jungrimchanggo” is a harmonious cultural space located in the old city center that can be seen as an example of space branding applied to a space with high visuality, experience, placeness, publicity, and relationships. (Conclusions) With the increasing importance of urban public spaces, space branding has been conducted to enhance the value and competitiveness of public cultural spaces and revitalize them. The results of this study were as follows: First, most public cultural spaces exhibited physical openness, with publicity appearing to be the most important. Second, public cultural spaces should focus on relationships, visuality, and experience rather than on accessibility to local residents' cultural and artistic activities. Third, space branding should be applied not only to commercial spaces, but also to the revitalization and competitiveness of public spaces, which will play a role in creating and activating positive perceptions of public spaces.

        지역문화공간 설립을 위한 문화공간 콘텐츠 연구

        (Background and Purpose) These days, urban local cultural space has expanded its concept as a place for cultural community by improving the quality of life of local residents based on culture while also stimulating the local economy by transcending its significance as a space for exhibition and creativity. However, most local cultural space has not been operated properly due to the limit of diversity in its spatial content. Thus, it is necessary to map out strategic plans to fashion the content to be suited for the multifunctional role of a local cultural space as a crucial part of local cultural community. The purpose of this study is to present a guideline for forming the cultural spatial content necessary for local cultural space planning by analyzing the exemplar domestic and overseas models utilized to promote local culture. (Method) This study reconstructs the functional roles of local cultural space by integrating related literature and common communal elements presented by G. A. Hillery, as the concept of local cultural space is extended to that of cultural community. The definition and characteristics of cultural space content were also derived from preceding studies and literature analysis. Based on this analysis, the connectivity between functional roles that would need to be taken on by contemporary local cultural space and cultural space content characteristics was identified to build an analytical model and subsequently analyze the practical cases. Then, the results of this study were derived for the future course of formation of cultural space content. (Results) It was found that the local cultural space utilizing idle space in cities would need to take on roles related to social welfare and other complex roles on the basis of mutual exchange and interchange among local communities through the medium of culture and art so as to serve as an arena for the formation of cultural community. Out of the ten characteristics formulated through prior research, case analysis revealed that eight characteristics were suitable for cultural space content: artisticity, creativity, leisure, historicity, educativeness, experientiality, communication, and preservation. Finally, local cultural space will be able to have the creative, relational, regenerative, and communication-oriented characteristics when cultural space content is formed as mentioned above, which will ultimately strengthen cultural cohesion of local communities, allowing the local cultural space to serve its functions as a competitive local cultural space. (Conclusions) The results of this study show that cultural space content should be formed with a focus on its multifunctional role of as cultural community place so as to form a cultural community based on spontaneous participation of local residents and added vitality. (연구 배경 및 목적)오늘날 도시의 지역문화공간은 창작·전시시설의 의미를 넘어, 문화를 통해 지역민들의 삶의 질을 향상시키고 나아가 지역경제를 활성화시키는 문화 커뮤니티 장소로서 그 개념이 확장되고 있다. 그러나 상당수가 공간 콘텐츠 다양성의 한계로 운영이 제대로 이루어지지 못하고 있어, 지역문화 커뮤니티의 다기능적 역할을 수행하기 위한 전략적 구성계획이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 지역문화 활성화에 기여한 국내외 우수사례를 분석하여 지역문화공간 계획에서 필요한 문화공간 콘텐츠의 구성 지침을 제시하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 본 연구는 지역문화공간이 문화 커뮤니티 성격으로 그 개념이 확장됨에 따라, 관련 문헌연구와‘힐러리(G. A. Hillery)가 제시한 커뮤니티 공통요소’를 종합하여 지역문화공간의 기능적 역할을 재구성하였다. 그리고 문화공간 콘텐츠의 정의 및 특성을 선행연구 및 문헌분석을 통해 도출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 오늘날 지역문화공간이 가져야 할 기능적 역할과 문화공간 콘텐츠 특성간의 연계성을 찾아내어 분석모형을 구축하고 사례를 분석한 후, 문화공간 콘텐츠 구성 방향성에 대한 연구 결과를 도출하였다. (결과) 지역문화공간은 문화공동체 형성을 위한 장으로서 기능을 하기 위해 문화예술을 통한 상호교류 및 지역사회 교류를 통한 사회복지적 측면의 역할과 복합적인 수행이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 이를 위해 문화공간 콘텐츠는 선행연구를 통해 추출된 10개 특성 중 사례분석 결과 최종적으로 8개 특성인 예술성, 창작성, 여가성, 역사성, 교육성, 체험성, 소통성, 보존성이 문화공간 콘텐츠로 적합함을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 문화공간 콘텐츠가 이와 같은 계획에서 구성되어질 때 지역문화공간은 창조ㆍ관계ㆍ재생ㆍ소통지향적 성격을 가질 수 있으며, 이는 궁극적으로 지역공동체의 문화적 결속력을 강화시켜 경쟁력을 지닌 지역문화공간으로서 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. (결론) 연구를 통해 지역문화공간이 지역구성원의 자발적인 참여를 통해 문화공동체를 형성하고, 나아가 지역활성화가 이루어질 수 있도록 하기 위해 문화커뮤니티 장소로서의 다기능적 역할에 중점을 두고 문화공간 콘텐츠를 구성해야 함을 확인할 수 있었다.

        문화재생 공간디자인에 대한 이용자 평가 연구

        (Background and Purpose) Recently, a lot of culturally regenerated space using idle space has been created and researched, but there is little research on the evaluation and satisfaction of users using the idle space. In response, this study raised the question, ”How is the cultural regeneration of free space evaluated by users?” We selected one of the projects related to the cultural heritage of the idle facilities in the country and comprehensively investigated and analyzed the actual state of the space used, the satisfaction with the space, and the necessity of space among users who use the space created through the cultural heritage project. (Method) First, we analyze the 'Industrial Complex and Waste Industrial Facilities Cultural Heritage Life' project, which is a representative example of the cultural heritage project of idle space in Korea. Explore the basic significance of the project and its core value, direction of promotion, project promotion process, and the case of space culturally regenerated by the project, and discuss the project results. Second, after analyzing project results, the results of space satisfaction assessment of users based on user satisfaction level using the space are studied and analyzed. (Result) The overall score of satisfaction level was 83 points, confirming the satisfaction of the entire project and the need for the project to users who are the final beneficiaries of the project. Both the satisfaction rate and the willingness to participate were high, but the willingness to participate in the future was lower than the satisfaction rate. The five-dimensional spatial satisfaction level showed 39.8 points in ease of obtaining information, which is about 50 percent lower than that of the spatial environment.The overall score of satisfaction level was 83 points, confirming the satisfaction of the entire project and the need for the project to users who are the final beneficiaries of the project. Both the satisfaction rate and the willingness to participate were high, but the willingness to participate in the future was lower than the satisfaction rate. The five-dimensional spatial satisfaction level showed 39.8 points in ease of obtaining information, which is about 50 percent lower than that of the spatial environment.. (Conclusion) What shows the value of the cultural heritage site among the evaluation results is that users of the space that has been revived through the space design of the cultural heritage site feel the need for cultural regeneration space. It also appears that cultural heritage sites contribute greatly to the community. This shows that space design through cultural regeneration can be an alternative to the positive perception of idle space as a cultural experience given by space, and the future use of urban idle space due to population reduction and the aging of facilities.

        도심 복합문화공간의 장소성 형성을 위한 장소특정적 공간 요소에 관한 연구

        (연구배경 및 목적) 21세기에 접어들면서 삶의 질과 문화 소비 욕구가 증가함에 따라 복합문화공간이 등장하기 시작했다. 복합문화공간의 문화 서비스영역 확대에 따른 공간형태 진화는 장소성의 변화를 의미하며 공간에 대한 사람들의 요구가 계속해서 증가하는 경향에 장소성 형성의 중요성은 더욱 주목받고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 도심 복합문화공간에서 삶의 질을 높이는 문화 장소를 구축하며 장소성이 뛰어난 공간 환경을 조성하기 위해 장소특정적 공간 요소를 파악하는 것에 목적을 둔다. (연구방법) 복합문화공간의 장소특정적 공간 요소를 파악하기 위해 다음과 같은 연구의 방법을 설정하였다. 선행연구와 이론적 고찰을 통해 장소성 형성요인 및 특성들을 규정하고 복합문화공간의 장소성을 형성하기 위한 특정적 공간 요소를 각 사례에 대입 후 분석하여 사례별로 도출된 장소특정적 공간 요소의 종합 분석을 토대로 향후 효과 및 기대 방안을 제시한다. 연구의 범위는 체계적이고 일관적인 분석의 증명을 위하여 금융기업의 복합문화공간이라는 단일 분야로 지정하였다. (결과) 복합문화공간의 장소특정적 공간 요소를 도출하여 사례에 따라 분석을 평균화한 결과 공간적 전문성이 가장 높은 점수로 나타났으며 영역적 복합성, 맥락적 접근성, 행태 유도적 참여성이 같은 점수로 나타났고 형태적 상징성의 경우 가장 낮은 점수로 나타났다. 복합문화공간의 형태적 상징성은 새로운 복합문화공간을 구축하는 것이 아닌 기존에 업무 위주로 운영이 되고 있던 공간을 리모델링하여 재구성하는 경우 건축의 독창성과 상징성을 높이는데 제한이 있을 수 있으나 맥락적 접근성을 높여 이용자를 유입하고 공간의 전문성, 영역적 복합성, 행태 유도적 참여성의 유도로 문화 예술을 향유할 수 있는 기회를 공간 안에서 폭넓게 제공하고 다양한 조건에 따른 자율적인 참여를 할 수 있도록 함으로써 장소성을 획득할 수 있다. (결론) 장소성 형성요인이 상호작용을 통해 장소의 특정적 요소가 부각되며 구심점 역할이 될 수 있다고 할 수 있다. 이는 복잡한 현대사회에서 도시를 표방하는 차별적 요소에도 중요한 역할을 한다고 볼 수 있다. 끝으로 본 연구는 도심 복합문화공간에서 장소특정적 요소가 도심 환경을 조성하며 삶의 질을 높이고 사용자의 만족도를 높이는 역할에 관한 연구를 진행하였으며 향후 더욱 다양한 분야의 사례 연구를 통하여 세부적이며 실증적인 연구를 도모하고자 한다. (Background and Purpose) Entering the 21st century, as the quality of life and the desire for cultural consumption increased, complex cultural spaces began to emerge. The evolution of space form due to the expansion of cultural service areas in complex cultural spaces means a change in ‘sense of place’ and the importance of forming ‘sense of place’ is drawing more attention to the trend of people's continued demand for space. Therefore, this study aims to establish a cultural place that improves the quality of life in urban complex cultural spaces and to identify place-specific space elements to create a space environment with excellent ‘sense of place.’ (Method) The following methods of research were established to identify the location-specific spatial elements of the complex cultural space. Through prior research and theoretical consideration, the factors and characteristics of formation of ‘sense of place’ are defined and the specific spatial factors for forming ‘sense of place’ of complex cultural space are analyzed after substituting each case for the analysis, based on the comprehensive analysis of place-specific spatial factors derived on a case-by-case basis, future effects and expectations are presented. The scope of the research was designated as a single area, a complex cultural space for financial firms, for the purpose of proving systematic and consistent analyses. (Results) As a result of eliciting place-specific spatial elements of complex cultural space and averaging analysis according to cases, spatial expertise was shown as the highest score, with the same score as regional complexity, contextual accessibility, and behavioral-induced participation, and the lowest score in the case of formal symbolism. The morphological symbolism of the complex culture space may be limited in enhancing the originality and symbolism of the architecture when remodeling and reconstructing the existing work-oriented space rather than building a new complex cultural space, but by increasing the contextual accessibility, providing a wide range of opportunities to attract users and enjoy the culture and arts through the inducement of spatial expertise, area complex, and behavior-inducing participation, and thus gaining autonomous participation under various conditions. (Conclusions) It can be said that the ‘sense of place’ forming factor can be a pivotal role, with specific elements of the place highlighted through interaction. This can also be seen as an important role in the discriminatory elements that advocate cities in a complex modern society. Finally, this study conducted a study on the role of place-specific elements in the urban complex cultural space to create an urban environment, improve the quality of life, and enhance user satisfaction, and aims to promote detailed and empirical research through case studies in more diverse fields in the future.

        빛 연출을 통한 문화시설의 전이공간에 관한 연구

        (Background and Purpose) With the development of economy, the society has changed from the industrial age to the digital information age, and the communication of cultural information and the spatial forms attached to it are changing rapidly through the media. In recent years, in the existing cultural facilities, the space design method is simplified, while the transition space makes the cultural space design become diversified. Therefore, cultural space design needs a transition space that the connection and transformation. Therefore, the design of transition space is important for cultural facilities. The research it to analyze the design factors of light Performance in transitional space of cultural facilities. Through actual analysis of cultural facilities, the research puts forward relevant space solutions according to its features, In this way, the theme which is expressed by cultural facilities can be better highlighted to create a good space atmosphere and experience for the audience. (Method) The method of this study centers on the transition Spaces in light performances and cultural facilities. The definition and characteristics of transition Spaces in light performances and cultural facilities are examined and understood through literature. Moreover, based on the previous research, the performance elements of the transition space in cultural facilities can be obtained. Then based on the design elements of light performance in the transition space of cultural facilities, each case is analyzed from multiple perspectives. (Results) Through the preliminary research of the light performance and the transition space in cultural facilities, it is concluded that the performance characteristics of light performance in the transition space of cultural facilities can be divided into five categories: physical variability, visual guidance, functional diversity, psychological transformation, and overall continuity. On the basis of these characteristics, the case is analyzed. Among the five design elements, the visual guidance is the highest and the psychological transformation is also high. In addition, the more regular the design and uniform light performance, they show less physical variability and functional diversity. The scale of the overall continuous transition space is different from that of the light performance design, and the intensity of the performance is also different. (Conclusions) Cultural facilities are a kind of art space for the public, and the transition space can shape the artistic atmosphere of the space. The design of transition space in cultural facilities should fully reflect its own cultural implications, and light environment design is also needed to better stimulate the visitors' interest in the transition space, so as to create a good environment for the audience. This can also better convey the theme of cultural space, so as to trigger people to think and let people achieve visual freedom and space enjoyment.

        도시 브랜딩 구축을 위한 스페이스 브랜딩 요소 적용 연구 - 울산시 지역 공공문화공간을 중심으로 -

        (Background and Purpose) As policy interest in local culture has expanded in order to improve the quality of cultural life, the importance of local public cultural spaces where cultural life can be enjoyed has increased. Local public cultural spaces serve as communication spaces for local culture and regional exchange spaces for attracting tourists; they help to meet the cultural needs of the local people and form a consensus. However, due to the lack of awareness of local cultural value, lack of content differentiation, and supplier-centered cultural policy, local value cannot be conveyed positively, and activation problems have occurred because of a lack of interest from users. This study aimed to explore the direction of local public cultural space design by studying spatial design applying space branding elements as a method of building urban branding to revitalize local public cultural spaces and improve the value of local culture. (Method) Concepts were studied and established, and components and characteristics were derived based on prior studies and a literature review on local public cultural spaces, urban branding, and space branding. The relationship between the concepts of urban branding and space branding was established in a local public cultural space. The analysis framework was prepared with the derived components to analyze the cases of public cultural spaces in the domestic region. The application status of space branding as a method for building urban branding was compared and analyzed. The subject of the case study was Ulsan City, which is striving to improve its image from an existing industrial city to a cultural industrial city with a revitalized local culture. (Results) Local public cultural spaces, urban branding, and space branding have the common purpose of enhancing value and competitiveness through image, identity, and activation. A case analysis based on their purpose and relationships showed that the association was dominant among space branding elements in local public cultural spaces, and the relationship was insufficient. As for the association, it is necessary to continue to develop an expression method that easily associates images through elements designed with consistency. For the relationships, it is necessary to consider a method of expression that increases consumer participation in the morphological element of spatial design. Visuality, informativity, originality, and experientiality also serve as necessary factors in establishing a differentiated image. (Conclusions) The application of space branding to build urban branding in local public cultural spaces delivers symbolic and comprehensive information to users and differentiated images. Through this, the identity of the space is established, and the relationship is activated by giving a positive impression to users. It is expected to be an effective means of revitalizing local public cultural spaces and improving the value of local culture.

        어린이 문화유산 교육은 실천을 기반으로 한 교육방법으로 문화유산 공간을 교육 공간으로 활용하여 역사와문화에 대한 이해를 높이는 것은 문화유산 보호에 큰 의미를 가진다. 본 연구의 목적은 영국 어린이 문화유산 교육 공간 활용의 체계적 분석을 통해 어린이 문화유산 교육과 공간 활용의 연관성을 구축하는데 있다. 따라서 본논문은 문헌정리를 통해 어린이 문화유산 교육의 정의및 목표, 교육의 특징을 정리하고 사례 분석을 통해 영국어린이 문화유산 교육의 특징, 활동유형 및 공간 활용 방법을 분석한다. 연구 결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린이 문화유산 교육은 지식전수와 태도 배양을 목표로 하고 있으며, 그 주요한 특성은 문화유산현장 체험학습이다. 둘째, 영국의 교육 활동유형은 상호 작용성, 참여성, 창조성, 놀이성이며 그 문화유산의 공간 활용 방법은일부 공간 활용, 전체 공간 활용, 임시 공간 활용, 원시(原始) 공간 활용이다. 셋째, 어린이 문화유산 교육의 활동유형, 문화유산공간의 성질과 특징, 유지 상황이 공간의 활용 방법에종합적으로 영향을 미친다. 본 연구의 결과는 어린이문화유산 교육을 기반으로 한 공간 활용에 이론적 지도로 되어 문화유산 보호의 지속 가능한 발전을 실현하는데 그 의의가 있다. Children's cultural heritage education is an educational method based on practice, and enhancing the understanding of history and culture by using the cultural heritage space as an educational space is of great significance to protect cultural heritage. The purpose of this study is to establish the link between children's heritage education and space use through a systematic analysis of space utilization in children's heritage education in England. Therefore, this paper summarizes the definition and goals of children's cultural heritage education and the characteristics of education through literature organization, and analyzes the characteristics, activity types, and space utilization methods of children's cultural heritage education in the UK through case analysis. The results and contents of the study are as follows. First, children's cultural heritage education aims to cultivate knowledge and attitudes, and its main characteristic is cultural heritage field experience learning. Second, the types of educational activities in the UK include interactivity, participation, creativity, and playability , and the methods of utilizing the space of the cultural heritage are partial space utilization, overall space utilization, temporary space utilization, and original space utilization. Third, the activity type of children's cultural heritage education, the nature and characteristics of the cultural heritage space, and the maintenance situation comprehensively affect the method of using the space. The results of this study are meaningful in realizing the sustainable development of cultural heritage protection by providing theoretical guidance for the use of space based on children's cultural heritage education.

        복합문화공간에 나타난 기호학적 특성 연구 - 퍼스의 기호학을 중심으로 -

        In modern society, the perception that culture leads the society is expanding. With the increased demand for complex cultural space due to the increase of consumers' cultural desire, the complex cultural space is rapidly increasing, changing, and developing. Paying attention to the complex cultural space as a space that complexly contains diverse experiential values suitable for this social trend, this study aims to research the semiotic characteristics of complex cultural space focusing on Peirce's semiotics. As the subject area, this study selected the places located in Seoul Metropolitan City where the complex cultural spaces were the most actively built up. In order to more clarify the scope of this study, the scope was defined as the single building-type space combined with commercial space and culture out of the complex cultural spaces open since 2017. Based on the literary data such as domestic/foreign graduate theses, references, and scientific theses, the analytical theories of this study were summarized. On top of analyzing the spatial characteristics of complex cultural space by extracting the semiotic elements of space through Peirce's semiotic concept, this study researched the meanings contained in the space of complex cultural space, and also the signification occurring between users of complex cultural space and space. As the spatial elements of complex cultural space would be the information system for delivering messages to users, this study borrowed the triadic analysis system by Peirce's semiotic concept. In the results, total nine spatial characteristics were drawn through the three semiotic categories. In space, the iconic sign is shown in the spatial elements of visual-perceptual aspect such as form, color, and material. In space, the indexical sign is shown in the elements of transmittive aspect such as concept, atmosphere, and moving line while the symbolic sign was shown in the elements of cognitive-ideational aspect such as experience, taste, and cognition. The case analysis of this study showed that the semiotic characteristics of spatial elements would be shown as the spatioperceptual characteristics such as integrity, image, and expressivity in complex cultural space, as the transmittive characteristics such as connotation, perception, and inducement, and as the cognitive-ideational characteristics such as diversity, interactivity, and materialization. As the results of this study suggest the future direction of complex cultural space that would be continuously built up, there should be more researches on the semiotic interpretation of space as a tool for analyzing the characteristics of complex cultural space. 현대 사회에서는 문화가 사회를 주도한다는 인식이 확대되고 있다. 소비자들의 문화적 욕구의 증가로 복합적인 문화공간이 요구되면서, 복합문화공간은 빠르게 증가하고 있고 다양한 공간이 생겨남으로써 변화·발달하고 있는 상황이다. 본 연구는 이러한 사회적 추세에 맞추어 복합문화공간을 다양한 경험적 가치가 복합적으로 내재 되어 있는 공간으로 주목하고, 퍼스의 기호학을 중심으로 복합문화공간에 있어서 공간이 가지는 기호학적 특성을 연구해보고자 한다. 본 연구는 연구의 범위를 설정함에 있어, 복합문화공간이 가장 활발하게 생겨나고 있는 서울특별시에 위치하고 있는 곳을 연구의 대상으로 삼았다. 연구의 범위를 보다 더 확실하게 하기 위해서 2017년 이후 오픈한 복합문화공간 중 상업공간에 문화를접목시킨 단일건물형 공간으로 범위를 규정하였다. 본 연구의 방법으로 국내의 학위논문, 참고문헌, 학술논문 등의 자료를 통해 연구의 분석적 이론을 정리하였다. 퍼스의 기호학적 개념을 통해 공간의 기호학적 요소를 추출하여, 복합문화공간의 공간 특성을 분석하며, 복합문화공간의 공간이 내포하고 있는 의미와 복합문화공간을 체험하는 사용자와 공간 사이에 일어나는 의미작용을 연구하였다. 복합문화공간의 공간 요소는 사용자에게 메시지를 전달하는 정보체계라는 관점에서 퍼스의 기호개념인 삼원론적 분석체계를 차용하였다. 그 결과, 3가지의 기호 범주를 통해서 9가지의 공간 특성이 도출되었다. 공간에서 도상기호는 시지각적 측면의 공간 요소인 형태, 색채, 재료에서 나타난다. 지표기호는 공간에서 전달적 측면의 요소인 컨셉, 분위기, 동선을 통해 나타나며, 상징기호는 경험, 체험, 인지의 관념적 측면의 요소로 나타난다. 사례분석을 통해 퍼스의 기호학적 측면의 공간 요소는 복합문화공간에서 통합성, 이미지성, 표현성의 공간지각적 특성으로 나타나며, 내포성, 지각성, 유도성의 의미전달적 특성으로 나타나고, 다양성, 상호작용성, 체현성의 인식관념적 특성으로 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 앞으로 계속적으로 생겨날 복합문화공간의 방향성을 제시하면서, 복합문화공간의 특성을 분석하기 위한 도구로써 공간의 기호학적 해석에 관한 연구가 이어질 것을 기대 한다.

        유휴산업시설을 활용한 복합문화공간의 공간적 특성에 관한 연구

        (Background and Purpose)As a result of the industrialization process, production facilities that were active in the structural changes of cities were left as idle industrial facilities. Public perception of these facilities is now changing; they are seen as valuable spaces that contain historical features. I would like to propose a direction to utilize diverse cultures through spatial characteristics by reproducing idle industrial facilities with useful value as a multicultural space. (Method) In this study, we draw spatial characteristics of complex cultural spaces utilizing idle industrial facilities through the nine characteristics of the regeneration of idle industrial facilities and the five characteristics of complex cultural space by making a theoretical consideration for the same as previous studies and summarizing the contents. Based on the characteristics of historical symbolism, spatial complexity, artistic expertise, participation of culture, and accessibility of place, we select idle industrial facilities in Korea actively operated through various programs on the basis of their being used as complex cultural spaces. We chose five places: Seongsu-dong Daelim Warehouse Gallery Column, Insa-dong Insadong 1 Gil Culture Space, Bucheon art bunker B39, Busan F1963, and Jeollado Wanju Samnye culture art village. Through the case study, we analyzed the current situation and spatial characteristics of the spaces and drew conclusions by diagramming the analysis contents. (Results) The diagram showed that historical symbolism was the most characteristic of the five characteristic factors, which could be regarded as a basis for a high evaluation of the periodic value of idle industrial facilities. The study suggests the feasibility of using such facilities as complex cultural spaces, as they can bring various contents together through their spatial complexity. As artistic expertise was backed up, participation of culture also increased naturally, there were limitations in accordance with location; the accessibility of places utilized existing idle industrial facilities. For these characteristics, Daelim Warehouse Gallery Column could be regarded as a case well-suited to the spatial characteristics of the complex cultural space utilizing idle industrial facilities as it showed a high level in the multi-faceted area. (Conclusions) This study emphasizes the historical importance of the idle industry and the spatial necessity of the complex cultural space and concludes three points about spatial characteristics. First, it provides the experience of temporality through the value of time, and it becomes a sustainable space resource as educational material. Second, it can express various characteristics of the complex cultural space by utilizing flexible space. Third, users are encouraged to voluntarily participate, thereby enhancing the potential of local development by raising artistic and cultural activities. The complex cultural space utilizing idle industrial facilities is being utilized as a space in which users can participate voluntarily based on the value of the space’s original historical symbolism. (연구배경 및 목적) 탈산업화의 과정으로 도시 내 구조 변화와 함께 생산적 활동을 하던 다수의 생산시설들이 유휴산업시설로 남게 되었다. 이러한 목적성을 다한 유휴산업시설들이 현재는 시대적 역사성을 내포한 가치 있는 공간으로 인식이 바뀌어가고 있다. 활용적인 가치를 가진 유휴산업시설을 여러 가지 목적을 충족시킬 수 있는 복합문화공간으로 재생하여 자발적인 참여를 통해 다양한 예술·문화를 활용할 수 있는 방향성을 제시하고자 한다. (연구방법) 본 연구에서는 유휴산업시설 재생과 복합문화공간에 관한 선행연구를 통해 이론적 고찰을 하고, 유휴산업시설 재생의 특성과 복합문화공간의 특성을 종합하여 유휴산업시설을 활용한 복합문화공간의 공간적 특성요소 다섯 가지를 도출한다. 그 결과로 역사적 상징성, 공간적 복합성, 예술적 전문성, 문화적 참여성, 장소적 접근성의 다섯가지 공간적 특성 요소를 도출하여 각 사례에 적용한다. 사례분석으로 국내 유휴산업시설이 복합문화공간으로 활용된 사례를 바탕으로 다양한 프로그램을 통해 활발하게 운영 중인 곳으로 선정한다. 성수동 대림창고 갤러리 컬럼, 인사동의 인사1길 컬처 스페이스, 부천 아트벙커 B39, 부산 F1963, 전라도 완주 삼례문화예술촌의 다섯 장소를 선정하여 현 상황과 공간적 특성을 분석하여, 분석결과를 다이어그램 화하여 소결을 도출한다. (결과) 사례 분석 결과는 다섯가지 특성 요소 중 공통적으로 역사적 상징성이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 이는 유휴산업시설에 대한 시대적인 가치를 높게 평가한다고 볼 수 있다. 다음으로 높게 나타난 공간적 복합성은 다양한 컨텐츠를 한 공간에서 다양한 방식으로 연계될 수 있는 점에서 복합문화공간의 특성에 부합하여, 적극적으로 활용될 수 있는 특성으로 볼 수 있다. 이어서 문화공간의 가치를 형성하는 예술적 전문성이 기반이 되어야하며 이는 사용자의 관심을 유도하여 자발적인 문화적 참여성을 높인다. (결론) 본 연구는 유휴산업의 역사적 중요성과 복합문화공간의 공간적 필요성을 강조하며, 공간적 특성에 대하여 세 가지로 결론을 내린다. 첫째, 시대적 가치를 통해 시간성의 경험을 제공하여 교육적인 자료로써 지속가능한 공간자원이 되고 둘째, 유동적인 공간의 활용으로 복합문화공간의 특성이 표현되어 다양한 목적을 수용할 수 있으며, 셋째, 작가들과 사용자의 자발적인 참여를 유도하여 예술·문화 활동을 높여 지역발전의 가능성을 높일 수 있다. 이렇게 유휴산업시설을 활용하는 복합문화공간은 본래 가지고 있는 역사적 상징성에 대한 가치를 기반으로 사용자들이 자발적으로 참여할 수 있는 복합문화공간으로 활용되고 있다.
