        Lupus erythematous panniculitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of subcutaneous fat that occurs in 2-3% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Lupus erythematous panniculitis typically presents with firm, indurated subcutaneous nodules or plaques commonly developed in proximal extremities, trunks, head and neck. Face, breast and upper extremities involvement with lupus erythematous panniculitis has been infrequently reported. We report a case of lupus erythematous panniculitis developed in a 27-year-old female confirmed by histologic features and laboratory findings.

      • Detection of SFTS Virus in Ixodes nipponensis and Amblyomma testudinarium (Ixodida: Ixodidae) Collected From Reptiles in the Republic of Korea

        <P>A survey of reptile-associated ticks and their infection status with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) virus was conducted to determine the relative abundance and distribution among lizards, skinks, and snakes in the Republic of Korea (ROK). In total, 132 reptiles, including 49 lizards (two species), 15 skinks (one species), and 68 snakes (eight species) were collected. In total, 84 ixodid ticks belonging to two genera (Ixodes and Amblyomma) were collected from 28/132 (21.2%) lizards, skinks, and snakes. Ixodes nipponensis Kitaoka & Saito was only collected from lizards and skinks, while Amblyomma testudinarium Koch was only collected from snakes. Takydromus wolteri had the highest tick index (0.7; total number ticks/total number collected hosts) among lizards and skinks, while Rhabdophis tigrinus had the highest tick index (2.2) among the snakes. Ixodes nipponensis larvae and nymphs accounted for 11.1% and 88.9%, respectively, of all ticks collected from lizards and skinks, while only A. testudinarium nymphs were collected from snakes. Nymphs of both species of ticks were collected from lizards and skinks from April to October, while I. nipponensis larvae were collected only from September to October. Ixodes nipponensis larvae and nymphs were preferentially attached to the lateral trunk (83.3%) and the foreleg axillae (16.7%) of lizards and skinks. SFTS virus was detected in both I. nipponensis and A. testudinarium collected from lizards and snakes. Phylogenetic analysis of SFTS viruses of ticks collected from two lizards and one snake demonstrated close relationships with SFTS virus strains observed from humans and ticks in the ROK, China, and Japan. These results implicate lizards and snakes as potential hosts of SFTS virus.</P>

        갈색거저리 유충의 사료인 밀기울은 대부분 수입에 의존하고 있는데 일부 국가의 식량 수출 중단 조치 등에 따른 국제 곡물가격 상승으로 밀기울 가격은 인상되고, 식용곤충 판매가격이 하락하면서 생산비 절감을 위한 사료 개발이 요구되고 있다. 농업부산물 3종을 50% 이상 급이하게 되면 유충 생육이 저하되었기 때문에 본 연구는 적정한 배합비율을 선정하기 위해 첨가사료 20, 30% 함량으로 밀기울과 혼합하여 사료를 급이하였을 때 갈색거 저리 유충의 생육 특성과 영양성분 변화에 대해 밀기울만 제공한 대조구와 비교하였다. 부산물 A와 B, C를 각각 30% 함유한 처리구에서 갈색거저리 유충 무게는 대조구와 차이가 없음을 확인하였다. 먹이소화율은 부산물B를 20% 함유한 처리구가 80.5%로 대조구에 비해 높았고, 부산물C 30% 처리구에서 72.6%로 가장 낮았다. 갈색거저 리 유충의 생육일수 100일 기준으로 부산물B 30% 처리구에서 용화율이 76.1%로 대조구보다 1.6배 높았으며, 부산물A 20% 처리구는 29.2%로 용화율이 가장 낮았다. 갈색거저리 유충의 조단백질 함량은 부산물 C 30% 처리 구에서 대조구보다 10.3% 증가하여 아미노산 분석을 진행한 결과 sarcosine과 ornithine이 2.5배 이상 증가하였다. 이를 통해 부산물 B나 C를 30% 함유한 사료를 급이하였을 때 사육 원가를 절감하여 유충을 생산할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

      • Parasitic and developmental characteristics of the parasitoid waps, Asobara japonica on Drosophila suzukii

        This study was carried out to confirm the parasitic and developmental features of A. japonica and D. suzkii was used as a parasitic natural enemy. A. japonica attacked the D. suzukii larvae and the emergence of adults were observed from D. suzukii pupae. Black spots were observed in parasitized D. suzukii larvae. Mortality of parasitized larvae, rate of parasitic and developmental feature were investigated according to developmental stages of host, D. suzukii. Mortality and rate of parasitic of D. suzukii larvae were the highest when second instar larvae were attacked. Developmental period of parasitized D. suzukii larvae showed differences to developmental stages, but there was no significant difference in developmental stage of pupal period.

        Molecular structures of flavonoid co-formers for cocrystallization with carbamazepine

        Flavonoids have numerous beneficial effects on human health, such as antioxidant capacity and immuneboostingeffects, which make them attractive cocrystal formers for drugs. Previously, a co-crystalbetween carbamazepine (CBZ) and naringenin, a flavonoid, was discovered, but no understanding onthe requirements of cocrystal formers was assessed. Herein, the structural requirement of flavonoidscocrystallization with CBZ was examined using eight different natural flavonoids with planar and bentstructures and 0–4 phenolic groups including the naringenin. The flavonoids without double bonds intheir heterocyclic rings (F1, P2, and N3) formed cocrystals with monoclinic unit cells and a 1:1 CBZ toflavonoid molecular ratio, whereas the flavonoids with double bonds (F1d, C2d, and A3d) did not formcocrystals. F1, P2, and N3 had geometrically bent structures, which enabled the formation of cocrystals. The phenolic groups of flavonoids play an essential role in cocrystal formation with CBZ, undergoingstrong intermolecular interactions. The flavonoid with no phenolic group, F0, could not form a cocrystal. For CF1, CP2, and CN3, the melting temperature, packing coefficient, and hydrogen bonding energy of thecocrystals increased as the number of phenolic groups increased. These results confirm that the phenolicgroups and molecular geometry of flavonoids are critical cocrystal forming factors.

      • 약용식물 17종 메탄올 추출물의 유기질문화재 생물학적 열화원에 대한 항진균 및 살충활성 조사

        To investigate bioactive materials for development of natural conservative agent on organic cultural heritage, methanol extracts from 17 medicinal plants were screened for antifungal and insecticidal activity against 6 wood rot fungi and adult of Lasioderma serricorne. Antifungal activity of extracts was tested by using paper disc soaking method against wood-rot fungi. Among these extracts, the most significant antimicrobial activity was observed from the extract of Coptis japonica at 5 mg/disc against all wood rot fungi tested. The insecticidal activity of extracts was examined by topical application against L. serricorne adults. The extracts from Asarum sieboldii gave 83.3 % mortality at $25{\mu}g/adult$ for 24hr. From these result, the methanol extract from C. japonica and A. sieboldii described could be useful for conservation of organic cultural heritage against biological deterioration by wood rot fungi and L. serricorne.

        국내산 수목 추출물의 항진균 및 살충활성

        유기질 문화재 보존 천연 살생물제 개발을 위한 후보물질 조사를 위해 국내 자생하는 11종 수목을 대상으로 각 수목 메탄올 추출물의 9종 목재오염균과 궐련벌레 성충에 대한 항진균 및 살충활성을 조사하였다. 항진균 활성은 목재부후균과 표면오염균에 대해 각각 paper disc soaking 방법과 feeder strip 방법으로 측정되었다. 그 결과, 수목 중 황벽(Phellodendron amurense) 메탄올 추출물은 5 mg/disc에서 Coniophora puteana, Lentinus lepideus, Tyromyces palustris 그리고 Aspergillus niger에 대해 우수한 항균활성을 나타냈다. 또한, 수목 메탄올 추출물의 살충활성은 topical application 방법에 의해 측정되었으며 특히 주목(Taxus cuspidata)과 전나무(Abies holophylla) 메탄올 추출물을 궐련벌레 성충에 25 ${\mu}g$/adult의 농도로 24시간 처리했을 때 56.7%의 치사율을 보였다. 위의 결과로부터 주목과 전나무 그리고 황벽 메탄올 추출물은 각각 충과 목재오염균에 의해 야기되는 생물학적 열화에 대한 유기질 문화재 보존을 위해 유용하게 사용가능할 것으로 사료된다.         피부 마찰 소음 측정을 통한 피부 상태 연구

        화장품 사용 전후의 피부 상태는 주로 시각과 촉각 및 피부 구조에 기초한 정성적, 정량적 방법에 의해 평가되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 화장품을 피부에 도포할 때 문지름으로 인한 마찰 소음이 발생한다는 사실을 기반으로, 피부 문지름에서 발생하는 소리를 측정하여 청각을 기반으로 하는 새로운 피부 상태 평가법을 개발하고자 하였다. 우선 무향 조건에서 고감도의 계측용 마이크로폰을 사용하여 피부를 문질렀을 때 발생하는 소리를 계측하였으며, 주파수 영역(1/3 옥타브 스펙트럼) 해석법을 이용하여 세정 전, 세정 후, 화장품 도포 후의 세 가지 피부 조건에 따른 소리의 스펙트럼 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 세정 전보다 세정 후에 피부 문지름에서 발생하는 소리의 세기가 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 화장품 도포 후에는 문지름 소음의 총 세기가 가장 작음을 확인하였다. 또한, 화장품 도포 후는 도포 전과 비교해볼 때, 2 kHz 미만의 저주파 대역의 에너지는 증가하며 반대로 2 kHz 이상의 고주파 영역의 에너지는 상대적으로 감소하는 변곡점이 발생하였다. 화장품 도포 후에 변곡점 근처에서 에너지 차이가 반전되는 이러한 현상은 피부의 물리적 모델인 풍선으로 해석되며, 저주파 영역에서의 소리 세기의 증가를 설명하기 위해 “유연함 지표”를 도입하고, 고주파 영역에서의 소리 세기의 감소를 설명하기 위해서는 “부드러움 지표”를 도입하였다. 그리고, 이러한 소리 측정을 통한 유연함 증가와 부드러움 증가는 각각 cutometer와 primos을 사용한 피부 유연함 측정과 피부 거칠기 측정 결과와 유사함을 확인하였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통해 유연함과 부드러움 지표를 사용하는 청각에 기초한 평가 방법은 새로운 피부 상태 평가법으로 활용 가능할 것으로 판단된다. Efficacy of cosmetics has been mainly evaluated by qualitative and quantitative methods based on visual sense, tactile sense and skin structure until now. In this study, we suggested a novel evaluation method for skin status based on sound; measuring and analyzing the rubbing noise generated by applying cosmetics. First, the rubbing noise was measured at a close range by a high-sensitivity microphone in anechoic environment, and the noises were analyzed by 1/3 octave band analysis in frequency-domain. Three conditions, 1) before washing, 2) after washing and 3) after application of cosmetics, were compared. As a result, sound pressure level (SPL) of rubbing noise after washing was larger than that of before washing, and the SPL of rubbing noise after cosmetic application was the smallest. Furthermore, the energy of rubbing noise after application was higher than that of the before and after washing conditions in a low frequency band (lower than 2 kHz region). Conversely, the energy of rubbing noise after application was much lower than the others in a high-frequency band (upper than 2 kHz region). This change of energy distribution was described as a balloon-skin model. High SPL in the low frequency region after the cosmetic applications was due to the increase of “flexibility index”, while SPL in the high frequency region significantly decreased because of the attenuation which is related to “softness index”. Therefore, we developed two indices based on the spectrum-energy difference for evaluating skin conditions. This proposed method and indices were verified via skin flexibility and roughness measurement using cutometer and primos respectively. These results suggest that acoustic measurement of skin friction noise may be a new skin status evaluation method.

        Most malignant mesenchymal tumors of the lung are metastases of a primary tumor from elsewhere in the body. A primary pulmonary synovial sarcoma is a very rare neoplasm that accounts for approximately 10% of soft tissue sarcomas and makes up only 0.5% of all primary lung malignancies. We report a case of a primary pulmonary synovial sarcoma in a 60-year old woman. In this case, a lung metastasis was excluded using 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging. (Tuberc Respir Dis 2006; 60: 673-677)

      • 교차소뇌해리현상을 보이는 환자는 새로운 운동학습이 가능 한가? : 단일사례연구

        Objective : This study is aimed at looking at how the new motor learning is going or not by comparing the patient showing the phenomenon of crossed cerebellar diaschisis with a normal person through darts-throwing. Methods : This study selected a 69-year-old man with the phenomenon of crossed cerebellar diaschisis and another 69-year-old man judged as neurologically normal as its study subjects. The process of this experiment consisted of Checking the distance from the bull s eye with a dot when two men playing darts. Results : As a result of the study, there appeared no significant difference between experimental conditions in the healthy man while there appeared a significant difference in experimental condition 1-2(p=.019), and 1-3(p=.019), but there appeared no significant difference in experiment 2-3. Looking at the results of the comparison between the healthy man and patient by experimental condition, there appeared a significant difference in all experimental condition. In the result of the analysis of variance between the three experimental conditions, there appeared no significant difference in the healthy man and the patient. Conclusion : Through a simple experiment, this study was able to discover that it s difficult for a patient with crossed cerebellar diaschisis to take motor learning requiring new movements.
