        Suppression of Azoxymethane-Induced Colorectal Tumors in iNOS<SUP>-/-</SUP> C57BL/6J Mice

        Nitric oxide (NO) is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer in both rodents and humans. iNOS is responsible for the over production of NO in a variety of parenchymal cells and macrophages. In the present study, we utilized iNOS gene knockout mice to investigate the role of iNOS on chemical-induced colorectal polyposis. Azoxymethane (AOM) at a dose of 10 ㎎/㎏ body weight was administered to male and female iNOS<SUP>-/-</SUP> or iNOS wt C57BL/6J mice once a week for six weeks. The mice were sacrificed at 24 weeks after initiation of experiment and then examined with the incidence and multiplicities of colorectal polyps. The incidence of colorectal tumors were significantly reduced in iNOS gene knockout mice (22.9%), compared to that of control mice (61.4%). The multiplicity in colorectal polyps in the iNOS knockout mice were 0.37±0.77 (n = 35), being significantly less than wild type mice (1.02 ± 1.15, n = 44). The sizes of the polyps in the iNOS gene knockout mice were also decreased. However, according to histopathological observations, most of the adenocarcinomas from iNOS knockout mice were less differentiated compared to those of wild type mice. From the results, iNOS-mediated NO might have a promotive potential in the early stage, but a suppressive effect in the late stage of colorectal carcinogenesis.

      • Exploring the Perception of the Role of Early Childhood Teachers of Pre-kindergarten Teachers Using Concept Mapping Analysis

        The purpose of this study is to grasp the perception of pre-kindergarten teachers for the role of early childhood teachers using the concept mapping analysis. For this reason, 18 pre-kindergarten teachers were selected as study participants. Research participants expressed their thoughts on the focus questions, and humorously rated their importance. As a result, multidimensional scaling analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis were performed based on the calculated data. In the study, 60 final statements were generated based on the perception of the role of the early childhood teacher of the pre-kindergarten teacher, and two of ‘interaction-life guidance’ and ‘management of administrative operations-young children’s safety and health management’ were generated through multidimensional scale analysis, divided into dimensions. In addition, through cluster analysis, the statements were classified into 11 clusters including ‘managing the environment of the kindergarten’, ‘management of young children’s hygiene and health’, ‘creating classroom culture’, ‘supporting care’, ‘supporting play’, ‘operating curriculum’, ‘observing and evaluating young children’, ‘performing administrative tasks’, ‘interacting with the educational community’, ‘guiding young children’s life’, and ‘operating the whole curriculum’. The results of this study can provide implications for matters that require support during the pre-primary early childhood teacher period to form a correct perception of the role of the early childhood teacher.

        게르마늄 응축 공정의 모델링과 나노와이어 PMOSFET 응용

        본 논문에서는 게르마늄 응축 공정을 모델링하고 공정을 적용한 나노와이어 구조의 게르마늄 PMOSFET의 특성을 소자 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다. 기존의 연구 결과들을 토대로 하여 모델링을 수행한 결과, 게르마늄 응축 공정 과정에서 얻게 되는 벌크 영역에서의 게르마늄 농도(CB)에 대한 실리콘 게르마늄-실리콘 산화막 계면에서의 게르마늄 농도의 비율(CS)은 약 4.03, 해당 공정 온도에서 게르마늄 원자의 유효 확산 계수(Deff)은 약 3.16 ㎚²/s으로 추출되었다. 나아가, 게르마늄 응축 공정을 통하여 구현할 수 있는 실리콘 코어 상에 얇은 게르마늄 채널을 갖는 나노와이어 채널 구조의 PMOSFET을 설계하고 성능을 분석하였다. 이를 통하여, 전영역을 실리콘으로 혹은 게르마늄으로 하는 채널을 갖는 소자에 비하여 실리콘 코어-게르마늄 채널의 동축 이종접합 채널을 갖는 소자가 우수한 특성을 가질 수 있음을 확인하였다. In this paper, prcess modeling of germanium condensation has been performed and a germanium PMOSFET having nanowire channel implented by the condensation process has been designed and characterized by device simulations. Based on the previous experimental results, our modeling results demonstrate that the ratio of germanium concentration at the silicon germanium-silicon dioxide interface (CS) to that in the bulk region (CB) which are obtainable during the germanium condensation is approximately 4.03 and the effective diffusion coefficient (Deff) of germanium atom is 3.16 ㎚²/s. Furthermore, a germanium nanowire-channel PMOSFET having the ultra-thin germanium channel on the silicon core that can be fabricated by the germanium condensation has been designed and characterized. As the result, it is confirmed that the proposed device having the coaxial nanowire consisting of silicon core and germanium channel might have superior performances over the device with either all-silicon or all-germanium channel.

      • 게르마늄 응축 공정 모델링과 소자 응용

        In this work, process modeling of Ge condensation has been carried out and its device application has been verified. From the previous research results, we have extracted the ratio between saturated surface Ge concentration and bulk Ge concentration in the SiGe layer (CS/CB) to be 4.03 and the modified diffusion coefficient (D") to be 3.16 nm<SUP>2</SUP>/s. Furthermore, we designed by device simulation a highly scaled Ge/Si stepped nanowire-channel p-type MOSFET that can be realized by the Ge condensation technique, confirmed its feasiblity, and confirmed its superiority to the conventional devices having either naive Si or Ge channel.

        A Study on the Typification of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategies of the World TOP 20 Airports

        지난 50 년간 다양한 산업 분야에서 CSR 전략의 중요성이 강조되어 왔으며 CSR에 대한 연구 역시 활발하게 이어져 왔다. 그러나 항공업계의 CSR 연구는 상대적으로 활발하지 않았으며 진행되어온 연구 역시 CSR보고서 분석을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 이 연구의 목적은 TOP 20 공항의 CSR 전략의 특성을 비교하여 각 공항이 표방하고 있는 사회적 책임의 공통점과 차이점을 제공하는 것이다. 각 공항의 CSR 및 지속 가능성 보고서를 기반으로 한 비교 분석 및 내용 분석과 TBL (Three-bottom-lines)을 사용하였다. 세계 20 공항이 표방하는 CSR 전략 적용 범위에 따라 전략을 그룹화하였으며 이를 통해 그룹별 공항의 사회적 책임 전략에 대한 공통점이 발견되었다. 각 공항은 다양한 공항, 중간 집중 공항 및 고도로 집중된 공항으로 나뉘어지며, 이것은 사회적 책임 전략 및 환경 전략에 적용될 수 있지만 공항의 지역사회활동은 각 공항이 처한 상황에 따라 진행되고 있어 유형화시키기에는 적합하지 않았다. 생물 다양성은 아시아보다 유럽에서 더 적극적으로 채택되었으며 지역적 특성으로는 일본의 공항들이 환경분야 활동에는 다양하게 추진하고 있는 반면 사회적 활동은 추진하고 있지 않음이 발견되었다. 본 연구에서 처음으로 공항의 사회적 책임 전략의 분석과 유형화를 시도하였으며, 이는 세계 주요 공항들이 추진하고 있는 사회적 책임 전략의 공통적이고 차별적인 특성을 발견함으로써 최근 몇 년 동안 업계 전반에서 사회적 책임이 강조되어 왔고 이는 공항의 사회적 책임이 더 이상 환경에 국한된 수동적 대응으로서가 아니라 공항의 경쟁력을 가져가기 위한 전략으로서 활용되고 있음을 의미한다. The importance of the CSR strategies has been increased and progressive studies have been developed for CSR in various industries last five decades. However the CSR studies in aviation industry relatively haven’t been active and the researches have done mainly in CSR reporting analyses. The purpose of this research is to compare and provide examples and characteristics of TOP 20 airports’ CSR strategies. It is discussed using Comparison analysis and Content analysis as well as Three-bottom-lines (TBL) based on CSR/sustainability reports of each airport. It is suggested that characteristics of CSR strategies promoted by the world TOP 20 airports be implemented by grouping strategies according to the degree of coverage of the strategy. In addition, common points of social responsibility strategies of the TOP 20 airports over the group were found. Each airport could be divided into diversified airports, intermediate concentrated airports, and highly concentrated airports. This could be applied to social responsibility strategy and environment strategy, but it could not be applied to the type of coverage based on the social sector strategy of the airport. The characteristics of social responsibility according to regional characteristics were also found. In addition, the biodiversity part is more actively promoted in Europe than in Asia. However, there is no regional feature of the grouping of social responsibility and environmental strategies. It is meaningful to try to analyze and do typification of the airport social responsibility strategy for the first time. This means that social responsibility is emphasized throughout the industry in recent years by discovering the common and discriminative characteristics of the social responsibility strategies promoted by the world s leading airports.

        Furan in Thermally Processed Foods

        Furan (C₄H₄O) is a volatile compound formed mostly during the thermal processing of foods. The toxicity of furan has been well documented previously, and it was classified as “possible human carcinogen (Group 2B)” by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Various pathways have been reported for the formation of furan, that is, thermal degradation and/or thermal rearrangement of carbohydrates in the presence of amino acids, thermal degradation of certain amino acids, including aspartic acid, threonine, α-alanine, serine, and cysteine, oxidation of ascorbic acid at higher temperatures, and oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and carotenoids. Owing to the complexity of the formation mechanism, a vast number of studies have been published on monitoring furan in commercial food products and on the potential strategies for reducing furan. Thus, we present a comprehensive review on the current status of commercial food monitoring databases and the possible furan reduction methods. Additionally, we review analytical methods for furan detection and the toxicity of furan.
